Minecraft 4k is a version of Minecraft developed for the Java 4K "in way less than 4 kilobytes".[2] The version of the game is very limited. You are restricted to only placing or destroying blocks, with grass blocks being the only type you can place. The same world is generated every time, i.e. a new world is not generated every time. The only blocks in the world are grass, dirt, stone, wood, leaves, and brick, and the blocks seem to be randomly located since leaf blocks are located next to brick blocks, or stone blocks, or the other blocks as shown in the image, and there is no major expanse of the same type of block anywhere in the world. There is no sky, just plain blackness, and the map itself is very small - only 64x64x64. The game also appears to be like Classic - it takes no time to destroy blocks, you can place an infinite number of blocks, there is only a small number of blocks, there is no day/night cycle, there are no mobs, and the map itself is finite. Moving the mouse will turn the screen "smoothly", like pressing F8 in Beta, and there is no way to disable this. There doesn't seem to be a way to edit the controls, or even access a menu.
The game is playable and free.[2]
The M.jar that the html uses can be found at: http://www.mojang.com/notch/j4k/minecraft4k/M.jar .
Trivia
- The Void does not exist in Minecraft 4k. Instead, the bottom black layer and the black walls act like the bottom bedrock layer and the bedrock walls in Classic: you can move on it, but you can't place blocks directly on it, instead you can only place blocks on the bottom layer by clicking on the side of a block. The world also has a "roof" that works in the same way - you cannot jump above the level.
- The map is 64 * 64 * 64 (262,144) blocks.
- The blocks' placement in Minecraft 4k is mostly random.
- The page on which you can play Minecraft 4k is plain white and blank other than the game in the middle, and black text at the top saying "Minecraft 4k".
- Leaves don't despawn when the wood around them is destroyed.
- The M.jar file that Minecraft 4k is played from is 2.52KB and consists of 1 file which was last modified on December 4th, 2009.
- The placing/destroying -blocks-controls are switched around, meaning that blocks are placed by leftclicking and removed by rightclicking.
- The world is the same every time; it is not randomly generated like normal Minecraft.
