秘密更新（Seecret Updates
Notch有時候在Twitter宣布和確認秘密更新。在6月18日，在第一個秘密週五更新發布前，他發Twitter說他將要「製作一個秘密更新」。[1] 在7月2日，他宣布第三個秘密週五更新會在這個晚上發布。[2] 在7月29日，他發Twitter說「有一個真正的機會讓我可能忘記製作更新」，[3] 參考自發布在下一天的秘密週五更新7。在9月2日，他拒絕做一個「秘密週一更新」，而是確認道「秘密更新會在週五更新……跟往常一樣。」，[4]參考自他後來確認在9月9日和10日之後發布的秘密週五更新更新9。[5][6]
秘密更新在萬聖節更新前暫停了；Notch在10月7日發推說更新「被推遲到我們明白怎麼處理它們為止」，而且他在「關注萬聖節更新和律師」。[7]最後一次在The Word of Notch上提到它們是9月24日的一篇博文，他寫到「我很想推出個秘密週五更新，既讓你們開心又讓我做些編程，但我需要放鬆一下」。[8]。最後一次他發推提到它們是11月10日，他寫到「我喜歡在週五更新，但週六的修復令人頭疼。」[9]
