- Added /kill command for SMP, which deals 1,000 points damage to the player.
- Added small lakes and rare lava pools, both on the surface and randomly in caves.
- In SMP, Players connecting to a server or respawning are invulnerable for three seconds.
Bug Fixes:
- Items no longer get used when opening chests (i.e. food being eaten, lava being poured out, etc.)
- Breaking a boat in a certain fashion no longer causes it to drop 4 times the normal amount.
- Patched client to prevent duplicated entities.
- The join server page now remembers the port as well as the IP.
- Fixed a bug where joining a server on a specific port caused the client to forget all keybindings.

- The SMP join server screen now remembers the latest entered IP.
Bug Fixes
- Leaving sneak mode no longer rapidly plays all the step sounds that it silenced during the sneak.
- SMP Fixes:
- Swords and other weapons now deal damage properly.
- Added proper hurt animations and sounds to mobs and players.
- Fixed dead players logging in as invisible ghosts.
- Made arrows visible and deal damage.
- No more infinite free arrows.
- Hoes now produce proper Seeds.
- Creepers now animate before exploding
- Explosions animate properly.
- Server logging now appends to server.log rather than overwriting it.

- Re-introduced leaf decay
- New server configuration settings:
- pvp, true by default. If this is set to false, players can’t hurt other players.
- spawn-monsters, true by default. Set to false to remove all monsters.
- spawn-animals, also true by default. Set to false to remove all animals.
- Removed Debug screen being activated permanently as an option, and is now activated by holding F3

New Bugs:
- Single player mode is completely broken
- Leaf decay causes infinite looping, causing the game to freeze.
- Mobs in multiplayer are much harder to kill than in single player mode.
- Mobs are sometimes invisible and thus invincible, and can still attack players.
- When a player dies, their newly-respawned body does not appear to other players. These "ghost" players were unable to pick up items, though otherwise able to interact with the world normally from their perspective. This was fixed with the ghosting player log back onto the server or by editing the player's .dat file.

- In SMP, Boats and Minecarts are indestructible without the use of TNT.
- In SMP, hitting sheep will drop cloth, but it can't be picked up. However, casting with a fishing rod will knock obtainable cloth, but the sheep will still appear woolen.
- Getting out of a boat in SMP is difficult and buggy

- Mobs cannot be killed in SMP without the use of fire or fall damage. Other attacks will knock the mob back but not damage it.
- Chickens killed with fire or falling drop leather.
