PvP 装备

攻击

防御

战术
药水可以产生各种效果,而且完全可以在PvP里使用。有些debuffs的药水要配上喷溅型。
如果被丢出去,那么会把玩家传送到末影珍珠所碰到的地方上,这可以让你通过一些比较窄的墙壁。请注意,末影珍珠每次都会对你造成2.5心的伤害,如果你连扔4个及以上,你就会死掉。你也可以对你的敌人附近丢末影珍珠,你就可以在他没有反应过来之前把他干掉。

无组织的 PvP

反击!

跑!
如果没有任何胜利的可能,就逃跑,使用末影珍珠和有希望的一瓶速度药水。在逃跑的时候它会有潜在的危险,但是在那个时刻,这也是你唯一的希望了。
如果你正处于你的庇护所里,逃跑是一个好战略,因为他们似乎会突袭并掠夺你的庇护所,并且回来几次继续进行掠夺。(除非你在服务器里有帮会)
混进猪的食物里...
被猪吃掉。
这听起来很令人困惑,但是这样说意味着你被攻击了。如果某人加入了你的战斗,并攻击敌人,然后你和新加入战斗的战斗者可以联手杀死敌人。当敌人被杀死后,你将会面对新的对手,并且很可能会输掉。那就是它为什么被称作猪的食物,因为你并不是输给了你讨厌的敌人,而是你选择被其他介入战争的人吃掉,而他就是那只猪。然而,如果“猪”不攻击你,你欠了那个人,这个方法也是被“吃”的一个途径——尽管你需要报答他们。你也有机会“清理”2个赢得战争但生命值低的玩家。
不要放弃
这可能会被看成是一个弱项,不过看这个,假设有人在攻击你,你不能逃脱,你非常讨厌攻击你的人,但是你很难打到他。如果实在不能逃跑,那你也还尝试着去攻击一下,至少你可能打到他了,是不是?

实战策略
攻击相关
- 幸福触发器
无论是否处于多人游戏里都要练习射击移动目标。这可以训练你攻击、扫射以及形成敏捷的反应。
- 旋转不息
当参加一场战斗时,常规反应会吸引敌人,狂按鼠标。现在,这有一些平衡,但是对此有更聪明的途径。以圆的形状行走,按 w a s d w a s d。简单而有效的策略。这应该会减少一定数量的伤害,但是你仍然会受到对手造成的一些伤害。
- 雪球
装备拯救你自己的多数生命。带上一些雪球,让你可以随时击退敌人。它可能会给予他们被攻击的效果。它也会击退他们,让你和他的距离变得更远。他们当中的大多数会尝试使用他们非常强劲的剑来吸引你进行反击(小冲突)。注意雪球也会伤害护甲,因此如果你看见某人穿着全套带有附魔的金护甲,不要害怕,用雪球打他们。
提示:雪球是便宜的、易快速生产的护甲杀手!不要忽略这个攻击!让雪傀儡在你的庇护所呆着!不幸的是,摧毁一套钻石护甲需要差不多4箱的雪球。然而金护甲却不需要这么多。
- 扫射策略
PvP 并不总是站在一个点上用剑攻击某人,并且永远不会这样。圆形扫射你周围的你的敌人可以拯救你的信标,特别是他们拥有钻石武器的时候。因为玩家攻击你需要用弓推进,因此在箭射出后有一段时间,这段时间可以用来迷惑他们,你也可以更容易的避开攻击。为了让对手更难伤害你,使用速度药水。然而,饮用了药水后,你需要尽量避开像墙或像岩浆、仙人掌之类的危险地点。多数人并不会扫射,而那就是你的优势。
- 部署诱饵
如果你正处于一个小组或帮派里,并且在服务器拥有一定的声望,使用这个来当作你的优势。在出生点附近建造一个假庇护所(确保要让人看起来相信这是真的庇护所,如一个低空庇护所或一个用黑曜石做的天花板的庇护所)。不要在这间庇护所储存任何东西,要在这间庇护所里建造一个陷阱,像活塞坠落陷阱或按钮激活陷阱。人们将会来到这间庇护所,并认为这是你的真实庇护所(这并不总是有效。这主要在帮派服务器上有效,但是如果你的设计足够好,你可以让其在无帮派的 PvP 服务器中起效)。一旦他们掉进陷阱并死亡后,你就能够拿走他们的物品了。这需要大量的金钱、物品和 PvP 资源。
- 主宰惩罚
多数的 PvP 服务器没有规则限制,并且允许所有的情况发生。现在你可以获得的最好的事情是什么?胜利和生存!什么是最好的工具?类似主宰的护甲(以及混用一些脑子)!首先,你将会需要寻找铁或钻石护甲。盯着人们,因为他们多数会在相同的轨道上做同样的事。第二,酿造例如力量、回复、重生和隐形药水。第三,附魔任何东西。附魔护甲可获得最大程度的保护。把剑附魔上火焰附加、击退等附魔来获得最大力量。记住,锋利是唯一一个正常增加伤害的附魔。亡灵杀手和节肢杀手 V 看起来似乎令人印象深刻,但是在 PvP 环境中它们是没有用的。唯一有用的 PvP 对抗者就是用强有力的弓和一堆箭成为至高主宰。
如果你的队伍里有15位玩家,你可以使用下面的罗马技术。注:在攻打庇护所时要决定出一名玩家来使用这个。使用这个技术的原因是敌人将会相信中间是薄弱的,因此他们会向中间发动攻击。那时候,你就可以包围他们了。
防御相关
- 建造陷阱!
红石是一项要学习的至关紧要的技术。其可以在不被人看见的情况下创造陷阱来杀死带有全套钻石护甲或其他无法阻碍的敌人。例如,敌人要干的第一件正事就是往庇护所里倒水来把岩浆代替。如果这发生了,你你需要一个 BUD 来确认水是否仍然在那里,假设 TNT 在一堆沙子下面,水会阻止对环境的破坏(在没有水的情况下小心使用 TNT,你可能会比前者获得更多的伤害),火把会破坏沙子。甚至不仅仅要放上火把来窒息敌人,而且还要减小爆炸力。另一种方法就是紧急开关。在2×2的走廊的帮派生成点中设置紧急开关。放置紧急按钮来让粘性活塞拉动你下面的方块,敌人将会因此掉进岩浆里。注意,这会保证废掉敌人的护甲,但不保证会杀掉他。使用按钮,不要使用拉杆!留在周围确保,以敌人不能传送到他的帮派庇护所里。
- 极厚墙。这是对于偏执狂的人使用的。建造20-40层厚的墙。这不是一个致命陷阱,这意味着会给予你足够的时间进行躲避。多数玩家在挖3-6个方块之后就变弱/不想再挖了,有决心的人会挖到10-15,只有疯子才会挖完所有的20-40个方块。

- 你的金钱不会拯救你
当你正在多人游戏 PVP 的中心并且在为小组检查你杀死的人留下的战利品时,你不得不要保护你自己,因为在多数情况下,他们并不会保护你,他们中的多数很有可能会让你死亡并掠夺你的原有物品。尽管还需要一些详细的情景分析(如带着少许盐接受这个建议)。
- 隧道逃生路线策略
尽管逃生隧道是一个好主意,但是你的敌人可能会跟随你进入这条隧道。为了在这里战斗,你应该把大量的泥土带在手上,简单的封住隧道的上部分。不要封住下部分,因为敌人可以通过没有封住的部分向你射箭。(注:为了更容易,隧道尺寸必须是1×2的。)挖掉方块的时间通常比放置方块的时间长。再加上,这个可以更容易挫败你的敌人。另外一种方法就是在隧道的泥土天花板上面放上沙子或沙砾,如果有人来了,你就可以破坏天花板,让沙子或沙砾掉下来,这样会更容易一些。推荐使用火把来支撑多列,因为只需要破坏1格就能造成巨大的阻塞。当然,你还可以在地下挖1格深的沟。当你的敌人来了的时候,在这个沟上放上灵魂沙或水以减慢他们的速度。这会极大的激怒你的对手,因为他们在移动的途中不得不经常的移除障碍物。但是,这会使你的对手更愤怒,追踪你变得更难。
- 格挡
如果有人正在用箭射你,并且你躲不开,手持剑用右键进行格挡。这将会减少一半的伤害。在他们向你射箭时进行格挡,与此同时尝试接近他们。
- 随时随地穿上护甲带上剑
你可能会穿上铁护甲,带上一把镐在一个众所周知的矿井里挖矿,但是你与没有护甲只拿着石剑的玩家战斗并不会狠困难,因为石剑是人们接受的第一个武器。你要随时拿着一把剑,并希望你可以进行反击,还要带着护甲,即使是基本的皮革护甲或甚至是脆弱的金护甲,因此如果有人攻击你,你仍然可以幸存,并转过身杀死企图杀死你的人。
- 安全第一
当你正在使用岩浆或TNT的时候,带上一些黑曜石和/或一个水桶,这将会保护你免受爆炸和燃烧的伤害。
- 提高警惕
在 PvP 服务器,你永远不知道其他人在哪里。即使你距离出生点很远,仍然会有人对你进行间谍活动,追踪你,伏击你或者更坏的情况。永远不要想着你是孤独的,要总是认为有人在你附近伏击你。随时让你的手指切换到你的剑。
不要相信任何人
首要的规则,不要相信任何人。如果有在线地图,使用它来追踪人们的位置。与其他人保持距离。如果你只是为他们的帮派做了一些简单的事,他们就邀请你进入他们的帮派,那么就可能有幕后交易。他们可能会把你踢出去或者他们没有留下你的理由时会立即杀掉你(有帮派插件的 Bukkit 服务器)。随时做好被人攻击的准备,要总是认为每个人会在你的背后发起攻击。
同时在一些服务器有传送命令。在 PvP 服务器,如果你获得了一个你不知道的人发出的随机传送请求,永远不要接受它!,他们会随机传送来寻找要袭击和杀死的目标。同时,如果你拥有更好的东西,都不要接受请求,你可能不知道他们的武器在哪里,一些服务器还会有 /back 命令。即使你杀了他们,他们也会传送回来并在那里宿营。如果某人想要进行1v1的对峙,在接受请求时要特别注意。他们可能会带上依稀儿女来“围观”。小心的接受这条建议,因为太多的信任甚至会让最好的战斗者把你陷于无法挽回的境地。
狼是你的朋友
你独自一人在与一名拥有更大优势的玩家战斗时,你将会被杀死,但是如果你拥有了狼和傀儡,那么结果就不一样了。狼将会跟随并保护你,除非你的敌人聪明到建立一个隐形的优势或很愚蠢,他们不会攻击你,因为他们当中的大多数人知道被一群狼围攻他们会死亡。即使狼没有护甲,并且只会造成4点生命值,一群狼仍然可以当作一拳打出。铁傀儡也是一个好选择,因为攻击者可能会误伤到铁傀儡,从而导致铁傀儡的反击,他们的钻石护甲甚至被瞬间摧毁,从而受到铁傀儡的伤害。在被一只傀儡攻击厚,敌人会尝试撤退。如果铁傀儡是你制造的,就不必担忧会激怒它们,因为铁傀儡从来不会攻击它的创造者。使用雪傀儡对敌人的护甲进行过分的损耗也有很好的效果。
注:铁傀儡是中立型生物,在未被激怒的情况下不会攻击玩家和生物,同时还要记得带上腐肉来治疗你的狼。
其它战略
羞辱
如果你真的讨厌某人,在敌人的出生点或基地腾一块地方。然后把自己暴露出来。 在这块地方,你需要用到一些TNT或者其它的能干掉你敌人的东西。你也会一起死掉,但这是为敌人准备的狂欢。 如果你承受不了自杀,比如处于极限模式的(死后封禁) 服务器,也可以做一个同样的小屋,并让它能很明显地被敌人看见。不过这是用来杀掉他们并让你站到最后的。用TNT填满墙壁,地板,还有小隔间的效果会非常不错。再做一个小房间, 不会很明显, 足够深,用黑曜石搭成,但要留好出口, 放一个拉杆触发陷阱(TNT,还有岩浆也不错)。在里面等他们入局。一旦他们来了,躲进黑曜石房间(花费=4×3×3-4=32个黑曜石) ,还要把剩下的两个黑曜石堵住入口。 触发机关,然后让屋子里的人爽翻天。
PvP 的准备建议
为了把胜利的几率最大化,推荐装备上最好的护甲、武器以及战斗中最好的物品。然而,确保要尽可能的简单,因为这样会更容易的进行物品栏管理以及切换武器。为装备附魔或其他东西耐久 III。这是 PvP 和常规 Minecraft 中一个很好的法则。确保你的剑有足够的耐久度,或者带上一个备用的。把你的剑变得更可怕,特别是在紧张的比赛时。给弓附上无限 I 或者带上32-128支箭。别忘了带上弓!
战略战术
一般的,在你没有计划好每一步之前不要去吸引任何人。
下列因素会带来巨大的战略价值:
- 一张地图。不仅仅会帮助你查看你周围的环境,还会标出其他玩家的位置。
- 完备的功能、武装以及完成的庇护所:在 PvP 服务器里,一间庇护所总是一个好选择。确保没有人能找到你的庇护所,并且尝试把庇护所建在海洋生物群系、地下或者...
- 空中庇护所:一个浮在空中的,很难接近的庇护所,特别是建在海洋上面的时候。很难定位它或破坏它,因为它已经被黑曜石强化了。这些庇护所最好在帮派服务器上使用,但只有在你聪明到能对土地进行布局的时候才能使用。确保你能够到达这个庇护所。
- 最好的装备。
或者以流浪方式生活,没有一个固定的庇护所或帮派庇护所。永不停止地袭击任何你看见的空闲庇护所,当夜晚来临时,在你找到的某人的庇护所里藏起来。以流浪方式不会有问题,因为你永远不会被标记为目标,他们不知道这个目标在哪儿(除非他们有地图),并且你可以自由地突袭并掠夺箱子。
记住像这样的小策略也是很有效果的!
切换战略
你可能会因为你的强劲的保护 IV 钻石护甲和锋利 V 击退 II 以及抗火保护 II 剑而变得狠强大,然而,因为钻石并不是很容易找的,有更多的人想要获得钻石剑以及附魔,因此并不推荐使用该系列装备。在晚些时候,它们的数量将会让你的 PvP 按钮混战的自由幸存模式变成运气模式。因此,要带着几把不同的武器。这里是一些建议:
- 对他们下毒。
- 使用火焰弹点燃他们。
- 使用雪球或鸡蛋,这些是廉价的速射护甲杀手。

把怪物转换为你的优势

“有组织的 PvP”是非完全自由的,小型帮派的 PvP。假如只有2个帮派,那么一方是反派的,另外一方就是正派的(或者都是正派或反派)。 下面是一些为2-4个帮派(推荐只有2个帮派)以及经过精心组织的玩家 vs 玩家的教程。这将会在有排名系统的服务器上很有用。此教程有很多创新性的东西,并且推荐在有大量玩家游玩时应用。你可以把你的想法放进这个段落。这个教程将会很好标记你的团队的结构,因此你不必意外地在敌人的船只里徘徊,并使自己被杀。
结构
- 标准庇护所
一个用圆石建造的,里面有为盟友提供的几个箱子和床的庇护所。
- 大庇护所
一个由3层圆石建造的,里面有大约有50张床以及超过100-150个的箱子。推荐附加建设一个树木农场。
- 破坏者
一个巨大的空中庇护所,里面有200张床,200个箱子,由石砖建成,有人守在发射器炮塔和其它先进武器的地方。摧毁这个庇护所的唯一最快途径是使用 TNT。如果你要大量生产这些,你真的需要建造一个刷石机。
- 战列巡洋舰
一个中等尺寸的空中庇护所,其空间可以容纳100支部队,大量的储存空间以及需要大量的圆石。
- 炮塔
一座有红石时钟和一个远程红石武器(射速 3 支箭/秒)的炮塔。推荐把武器建高点并封住。
- 圆石农场
推荐用于上面的批量生成。使用水和岩浆创造圆石。
- 红石屋
这间屋子里都是陷阱!使屋子看起来很诱人,把铁块藏在草的后面,周围放上箱子,或者放上一个牌子来“假定”这是为朋友提供的一个秘密入口。当他们走进门,看到箱子并打开它们,它们不会知道这些箱子都是陷阱箱!当它们被激活后,你就可以向他们射箭、释放岩浆,甚至是激活 TNT!确保添加了活塞,以便在打开箱子的时候把门堵住!
军队
- 标准
装备有铁护甲和无限 I和耐久的附魔,还有1支箭的军队。
- 军官

制造一个皮肤来让你看起来像穿着钻石护甲的人!人们经常做这个,但是如果你改变了在护甲里面的原始 Steve 皮肤,这看起来更真实!同时确保你有一把剑!

帮派战争
该战争可以在一个帮派插件或其它等效插件中进行。 该战争会在一组玩家尝试攻击另外一组的必须消灭的成员,并且在晚些时候摧毁或抢夺另外一个小组的全部财产时发生。 这个战争的范围可以从一个突然袭击到一个2支军队间的正式挑战,各方人员的参战人数可多达好几百(尽管这非常罕见并且可能会造成延迟)。 在一些服务器,你可能需要在不知道队伍有哪个成员的情况下来选择并加入一个队伍。
破坏
如果你不能从外面伤害他们,那就从里面伤害他们! 如果可能,你仍然能够加入你的敌人的帮派。 如果你作为一个帮派成员进入了他们的庇护所,然后等待,直到所有帮主都下线了。这是进行破坏的最佳时间。 拿走他们最有价值的物品,然后破坏熔炉、箱子以及使用打火石燃烧物品。如果他们有一条水矿道,则堵住。如果他们有一条楼梯矿道,则放置岩浆火在顶上2格放置方块。前往“F 屋子”并挖一个洞,把岩浆放进去,当他们进入“F 屋子”时,岩浆就会从天花板流下来,并且在岩浆里不断重生。如果你还有岩浆,那就用岩浆把这间屋子填满!确保这间屋子没有任何的隐藏箱子,如果没被帮派里的人抓到,就破坏农场。如果可能,如果他们还不知道你破坏/掠夺了他们,等待他们修复他们的庇护所,放上更多的食物/战利品,然后再来一次!记住在每次掠夺后要把你获得的战利品分给你队里的其他人。
渗透
大多数的帮派服务器会有允许给予帮派领地的插件。如果你袭击一个庇护所,那么那个庇护所99%在他们的领地以内。因此,你要怎样进去呢?详见下文。
1. 侦查弱点: 偶尔的,你的敌人会在建造他们庇护所的墙壁时粗心大意建造在他们领地以外的地方,允许你简单的挖掘就能破坏墙壁了。他们也会留下一个洞或者入口作为外面与他们的庇护所的连接,否则你就需要自建入口了。最后,木质庇护所是非常易燃的,你可以合成一个打火石,然后...
2. 使用 TNT 大炮: 任何除了黑曜石或基岩的方块都将会被几个精准瞄准的 TNT 爆炸而摧毁。部署你的大炮,然后开始射击,直到墙倒下。

突袭
如果你想要有更高级的PvP战术,突袭是一种极好的方式。
简单来说,突袭就是偷对方的物品或杀死对方玩家,突袭有利有弊。
优点:你可以获得更多资源
缺点:你会成为很多人杀死的目标
有两种突袭方式:
1.TNT突袭:大多数时候,帮派里没有人上线。在这种情况下,简单的用TNT炸掉墙壁并偷箱子里的物品。这在地下和有黑曜石墙的情况下会很难,所以你经常会。。
2.快速突袭:这意味着你只需杀死对方在线的玩家并突袭他们的领地。这是在有厚的黑曜石墙时唯一的突袭方式。
大体来说,突袭有风险,下面有两种方法让你的突袭更加有效率
拥有大量食物。
一把效率IV的钻石镐(在版本1.4+,你可以用两把效率IV的钻石镐合成一把效率V的钻石镐)
第一个经常需要尽管耗时很长。然而你可能会怀疑为什么列表里有附魔的钻石镐,因为你几乎可以快速破坏所有东西。如果没有,领地的主人会把你驱逐出去,所以你需要尽可能快。

- 对于药水,溺水的伤害等效于10颗心。
- 把他们打入虚空也可以让他们死。

- Even if you know you aren't in reach of one, setting off a trap gives you away! Even if you are safe from it, setting it off may also alert whoever is in the control room. Take alternate routes. The only reason to try to defuse a trap is if there is no other way. Or if there is no other way because of people blocking you, you can set off the trap on purpose to direct attention to hide and kill anyone who comes to check the trap out.
- Always have an escape route. (ex. Ender Pearls, /spawn or /tpa, etc.…) If enemies have set their particles to "all" in the options, they CAN see potion particles emanating from your invisible character and you need a way to avoid being discovered.
Make note of everything. Don't write on a book and quill, write it on pen and paper to avoid being exposed, but write it on an in-game book later. This intelligence is most important, and can get you one step closer to victory. Do not forget that secrecy is required. Report back to your base once you think you have more than enough information on the enemy and that is when you can declare war. Another trick is to (if in a faction server) station your teammates nearby. (Say, a mountain bunker in the distance) That way, if you are caught and running for your life, you can send a distress signal signal or flares (The most obvious thing would be fireworks).

Unless a prohibitively expensive defensive structure is used to get up, they can be easily pummeled with arrows, a single one of which could send them falling to their death or at least making them restart. For sky fortress builders, the most important rule is to not have any spots that is out of the fortresses' archers' line-of sight. Try building the bottom floor in a "multiple ring" shape to do this.
Also make a disabled nether portal that will upon activation become an escape (disable it to ensure that it cannot accidentally link up to another portal). Bases in mid-air are effective during a raid, when manned, as entry is all but impossible. Again, this base type is best for continuous habitation, but it is only slightly more protected than a house on the ground if nobody is manning it. Also make sure to put cobwebs all over the bottom to stop ender pearl glitching.
3: Defenses Every good base needs traps and defenses! First of all, we have the wall. A good wall should contain at least one obsidian or water layer to shield explosive force, and require at least one minute to mine through with an unenchanted diamond pickaxe. To further prolong base penetration, chessboard wood and cobble to force players to slowly break wood or switch from axe to pick. Traps are great defenses to surprise enemies that make it through the wall, but are generally not infallible.
Note that self building walls can be useful during an attack to repair severe damage (aka the TNT equivalent of a bunker missile). However, remember that a trespasser will not simply pound at the wall forever (unless they are monotonously dedicated to it). Eventually,they will most likely climb it with blocks, or disable it by destroying the mechanism.
4: Allies This is one of the great secrets to PvP mastery! Trustworthy allies can be useful in many tasks, from grunt work to being the safe keeper of your gold. Be careful whom you choose for an ally, as treachery or lack of skill can easily hamper or destroy your attempts to thrive in PvP. Haste in that aspect is generally a waste.
5: Tough Base with a Factions Plugin If the server you're playing on has the Factions plugin, you can create an impenetrable base with water and cheap walls. To do this, dig a hole along the border of claimed land (INSIDE your faction land, otherwise it can be blocked up or destroyed) all the way to bedrock. Next, cover your base with water, including the sides and roof, and let it flow down to bedrock. Make sure TNT cannot land anywhere in the base. There should be no blocks connecting your base to the wilderness. The water acts as a shield, making your base invulnerable to TNT, and impassable by enemies. The only way to counter this is make a sand/gravel cannon (a TNT cannon that shoots the falling gravel/sand instead).
Skybase
Gather enough dirt to build to the build limit (about 3 stacks). Then pillar jump with all of it, or until you reach the build limit. Then dig 17 blocks down. Place 1 obsidian by pillar jumping with it, mark that corner, then build a 12×12 obsidian platform. (Set home to platform if /home is enabled!) Then find the corner you marked, dig down, (you should see dirt, and not fall), dig 2 more dirt down, replace the obsidian, and coat the bottom with lava. (Fire Resistance is highly recommended) Enderpearl down, dig the bottom block of dirt, and dig a 12×12×2 trench where the lava lands. Then teleport up, either with an enderpearl (may take multiple tries) or /home. You can now add necessary items to your new base as needed. And finally, add redstone blocks around the edge, and build rings around the platform at a lower level for archers and potion lobbers to walk on.
Security
Building a base? Smart. However, check that your seemingly secure base is not vulnerable. Time to troubleshoot!
- Problem: Enemies can easily blow up walls and tunnel through them.
Solution: Reinforce the walls with rings of obsidian embedded in it to break TNT impact and deter speedy tunneling, and coat with water. To prevent glitching in, create two layers, the first layer is one that someone can teleport into with the teleport glitch (explained earlier) with a place on every side that a player can get into, then create a box in the middle, the second layer so that the person who glitched in cannot get to your chests, put two coats of obsidian on this layer so that the person cannot block glitch into your chests.
- Problem: An air based attack gets you quite often.
Solution: Build tall ladder shafts around the perimeter so that you can climb them and shoot off the enemy.
- Problem: Enemies eventually get through your walls.
Solution: Put lava falls to help deter them and have archers constantly patrolling the walls.
- Problem: Don't have any lava.
Solution: The Nether is there for open use.
- Problem: Enemies tunnel under your base.
Solution: Dig a long 1 block wide trench all around your base beyond the walls all the way to bedrock. Occasionally look down it, and if you spot any gaps in the "canyon" in the form of tunnels, ladder down and attack.
- Problem: You have bricked yourself in.
Solution: Find a way to put an inactive nether portal to another dimension in your base so you can portal away, or build your base around an end portal, or build tunnels.
Self-Destruct and Escape!
If the base is being raided, and your hand is forced, activate the self-destruct on your base. It is very important to keep one on hand at all times and also have an escape. The self-destruct must be designed to overwhelmingly destroy all life inside the base and the base itself but also be well-hidden. This is hard and so you should experiment. In times of need, start the lethal countdown and escape. Ender chests are good for these kinds of bases, as they don't drop their content and it can be accessed anywhere as long as you have another one.
Escape pods are essential for above-ground bases as they will drop you deep underground into a water spot, where you can dig (possibly minecart) yourself up to the ground and escape with your friends (if you have more than just one pod) to far away from the base. You can lock the escape pods with pistons when attempting to escape.
Keep In Touch
Not all of your faction skirmishes in the PvP world will be set up beforehand. Organize raids with your faction. Find some server to host a voice chat box with your teammates. This will allow you to coordinate your attacks on hostile bases and their creations. The more connected you are with your fellow faction members, the more likely you are to emerge victorious. Keep in touch with them and increase your odds of success.
Keep Your Own Bases
Let's say that you have just moved in with your awesome new faction. They have diamonds, dozens of anvils, and general awesomeness. Now, a faction war has started, and you have no base, no food, nothing except what the faction gave you. This is dangerous. In the event the faction fails you are defenseless. Trust nobody and keep a secret base all to yourself. Put a home there and be safe from pursuers and spawncampers. Be ready! If you need to and fear that the faction is about to fall, steal some items and leave the faction when necessary.
Mass Battle
PvP in large factions can include multiple scenarios, from individual murders or attempts to murder, to entire factions battling it out with lines of defense, barricades, and tunnels.
Open-Field Battle
To make it brief, an open field battle is the combat of multiple factions in an open area. This can cause chaos and may lead to a slaughter in the right conditions. Be sure to be well-stocked for this.
First of all, the open field battle playstyle is to have minimal life lost on your side no matter what, even above the victory itself. Why? Because of damage distribution and momentum.
Think about it like this. With lots of people on one side, as well as regeneration from a full hunger bar slowly healing each player (and health potions), the whole army in general is almost continuously regaining health. (If your army's hunger bar isn't full, you shouldn't be in a battle!) Since all the opponent's damage is not placed in a concentrated area, every person alive is in a sense helping heal others. When someone dies, their regeneration and health is lost. So is their ability to fight, and the formation they were in is weakened, so momentum in terms of a steady advance is lost. Therefore minimal life loss is the goal throughout the battle.
There are four major melee builds, which will be discussed more in depth later. They are:
- The juggernaut. These are heavily enchanted soldiers. Highly costly to make!
- The infantry. These are normally armored soldiers without enchantments. They are cheap on everything but Iron.
- The murderer. Extremely expensive and overpowered. Can kill a diamond armored juggernaut in one hit! Requires cheats to make!
- The exotic. These are users of exotic weapons with varying armor levels. They are not very difficult but suicidal hard in certain cases. Not very costly, but takes time to make.
It is tempting in an organized battle to do one of two things:
- Charge the enemy.
- Run from the main areas of combat to camp the areas nobody goes to.
Charging the enemy is a waste of time and durability due to damage distribution. It is also near suicidal due to the large amount of weapons present. Running wastes time as well and is both cowardly and counterproductive, as then damage distribution will be far less useful.
Instead, have all your soldiers in a group and have a continuously switching front line.
The first situation is if the enemy has large numbers of archers. Send a wave of soldiers charging in, with moderate armor, a few Instant Damage II potions, and some skill.
If they don't have archers, they will run or charge. If they run, have archers retreat to the back lines and then have the whole army sprint, bunching Juggernauts close to the front line while staying together, for maximum impact.
If they charge, stop their forward momentum with arrows, shooting when they are 10–15 meters away. Then the infantry should then fight for a bit, while juggernauts and potion lobbers move in at sprinting speed to surge into enemy lines and later replace the infantry and slaughter anyone that was engaging the infantry. Make sure that the juggernauts and potion lobbers do this carefully, as the enemy infantry may have lethal potions.
However, in general the enemy can do little versus Juggernauts and potion lobbers coming in from a flank as well as a defensive row of Exotics to stop enemy Juggernauts from advancing effectively.
However, if you are on the attack, there are some threats to your advance you must take into account.
- A massed force of archers or snipers (These can really break a big section of the front line off. Terminate them as soon as possible.)
- A hardened, continually blocking front line (These are really hard to fight by, but you can bait them just by having a player sprint near them and run away.)
Then charge with infantry, followed immediately by exotics. The juggernauts among you should flank around and smash the enemy infantry after a few seconds of fighting. The Exotics should only engage juggernauts in combat, and only with superior numbers. In this situation, have archers aim for infantry advancing toward the fight, NOT the enemy front line, where you could shoot one of your own men.
Never have everyone charge at once. They will lose momentum and a solid position, while also becoming less cohesive which causes less damage distribution. Retreat, while also dangerous, is far safer.
The next problem is the murderer. This solder uses server perks/commands to defeat you. They can also kill you in one hit. It's almost impossible to defeat him.
If a murderer is chasing you, then in order to kill him, you will need to be as smart as possible. Remember that 3 Instant Damage II Potions in the face will kill any type of player. However, do be aware, because the radius of the splash potion, you might kill yourself. But running after downing a few Swiftness II potions may give you enough room to get out of there. (Note, if dealing with a hacker may give himself/herself a Swiftness III, IV or V buff, but will likely overshoot you because of the high speed.)
This tactic is very bad to use on Murderers since they have Protection X diamond armor and they have access to many commands. The best way to kill it is with a power V bow. Make sure you're in a sturdy and hidden shelter so you can kill him. After you weaken him with a bow and arrows, then finish him off with a juggernaut sword. Make sure you have lots of golden apples and water with you because, the fire effect a long while and he is very powerful. Also, use TNT since it will inflict loads of damage.
If possible, lure a charged creeper at him to blow him up and inflict very high damage. Best to do on hard. Use the wither to distract him and retreat quickly or the wither will kill you to.
An suggested tactic for mass-team retreat: have one or more people providing cover with bows to prevent too much damage being dealt to your team. the reason is to cause as much knock back rather than damage to the enemy team so you have a chance- albeit a slim one if it's a team of murderers- to retreat and give an more effective retaliation strike.
Typical Inventories
Juggernaut: The Juggernaut is very expensive and dishes out major damage by sweeping away lesser infantry and archers. Typically dominating the battlefield, they usually cause a huge morale drain on enemies, as their high-tier equipment makes them superior to almost anyone in one vs. one combat. Due to that, it is reasonable to say that your leader should be one. However, no matter their superiority, putting these guys as your front line is a no-no. Their strength will easily present a target, and they will probably be gutted alive, spending most of their time blocking to defend line 2, and be occupied trying to fight enemy Juggernauts. However, on line 2, they can flit in and out without constraint and deploy more stealthily.
We recommend:
- Diamond armor with protection enchantments on at least some of it (Respiration III helps when fighting near water).
- A diamond sword with at least Sharpness II (Sharpness IV would be far better) and Fire Aspect II.
- The most enchanted bow they can afford.
- At minimum 32 arrows (or 1 if the bow has Infinity).
- Potions of Instant Health II or Regeneration II.
- Possibly some harmful potions.
- Stat-buffing potions, particularly Strength II.
- Basic tools (pickaxe, axe, possibly shovel).
- One or more Ender pearls for a quick escape or charge.
- Fire resistance potions extended.
- Water breathing potions extended.
- A stack of cobblestone.
- A stack of combat-ready food (such as meat, potatoes, particularly golden carrots)
- If possible at least 1 enchanted golden apple, this will allow them to evade death if being mobbed.
- At least one bucket of milk.
- At least one bucket of lava.
Melee Infantry: The bulk of an army, deal a lot of damage quickly due to their numbers and weaponry, and are fairly tough to beat in a fair fight. They also cost mostly iron and little else. As the base of an army, with their standard equipment and cheapness, they can easily be molded into many types of soldiers, such as the aqua trooper, mole, and siege trooper, below.
We recommend:
- Iron armor, lightly enchanted.
- An iron or diamond sword, best if it has Sharpness, Fire Aspect is not as useful as they will be engaged in quick, constant melee.
- Possibly a bow and arrows, but don't make it their primary weapon unless they are fully an archer as well.
- Possibly Potions of Instant Health II or Regeneration II.
- Possibly some harmful potions. Tell them not to throw them at non-juggernauts unless they will injure multiple enemies.
- Possibly stat-buffing potions, particularly Strength II.
- Basic tools (pickaxe, axe, shovel).
- A stack of cobblestone.
- As much as possible of combat-ready food (such as meat, potatoes, particularly golden carrots).
Archer: Deal damage at range and rarely receive it unless their army loses, which case they are likely to be smashed while trying to run for their lives. Fairly cheap material cost (a bow, arrows, light armor and food) but the most well-equipped archers cost many levels worth of enchantments as well.
We recommend:
- Iron armor. Give it as high a level of projectile protection and fire protection as available. When in a high perch with a backstop for falling avoidance, a great spearhead.
- A sword, just in case, preferably an iron one.
- A bow, every enchantment is beneficial, and depending on the enemy, they may need large numbers of arrows, multiple stacks each. Every bow enchantment is good, but Power or Flame are preferable. They should fire at low-armor enemies who can't escape or heal themselves.
- Possibly some harmful potions. Tell them not to throw them at non-juggernauts unless they will injure multiple enemies.
- Basic tools (pickaxe, axe, shovel).
- Possibly an Ender pearl for a quick escape.
- A stack of cobblestone.
- 3 stacks of arrows or one arrow and an Infinity bow.
- A bucket of liquid, preferably lava to slow and kill more powerful melee-enemies.
- As much as possible of combat-ready food (such as meat, potatoes, particularly golden carrots)
Sniper: Picks off and wears away valuable targets from a high and protected perch. They are unlikely to need a sword.
We recommend:
- Iron armor. Give it fire protection and/or projectile protection if you can afford it.
- A bow, Punch will be useless at this range, Flame can be very deadly, but only if they don't extinguish themselves or drink potions of fire resistance. Power is necessary to have at high-level to kill juggernauts. Power V, and Infinity, plus Unbreaking if possible.
- Possibly potions of fire resistance.
- Basic tools (pickaxe, axe, shovel).
- Possibly an Ender pearl for a quick escape.
- A stack of cobblestone.
- A stack of arrows.
- Possibly a bucket of liquid, preferably lava to slow and kill more powerful melee-enemies.
- Some food, it is unlikely they will need to eat it quickly, and they will be away from battle most of the time anyway. Even cakes or cookies work.
Exotic: Carry everything people forget about, potions galore, multiple buckets of lava, Ender pearls, a flint and steel and more. Cheap and powerful in factions with potion-making technology, but much less effective before that level of technology. They are what the smarter juggernauts dread, as their weaponry cuts through any one Juggernaut almost as effectively as it does armorless archers. A smart way to combat this as a Juggernaut is to back off and let them overextend (or as a leader assign one sniper/archer to support every Juggernaut, in which case the Juggernaut can just say to the archer,"shoot that menacing exotic". Then close them off and fight them, as exotics carry AoE weapons, and in close quarters can either hurt themselves or not fight at all.
We recommend:
- Iron armor, to prevent easily getting killed.
- A sword if possible, Knockback and Fire Aspect are extremely valuable. Better wood with Knockback I and Fire Aspect I than diamond without.
- A bow, every enchantment is good, but punch and flame are extremely important.
- Flint and steel.
- 1-16 Ender pearls.
- Buckets of lava, at least 2.
- Buckets of milk, at least 2.
- A fire resistance potion, or perhaps 2.
- 2-3 invisibility potion extended.
- A 22-second regeneration II potion, or perhaps 2.
- 4 splash potions of Instant Healing II. If you have a medic, specially one for yourself, then these are not required.
- 13 splash potions of Instant Damage II.
- A stack of golden carrots. The hunger bar will drop the slowest if you only eat golden carrots.
- A stack of cobblestone.
- A shovel
- A stack of arrows.
This will be 32 inventory slots, it is recommended that they carry an empty bucket to auto-stack empty milk and lava buckets into. Also note that the invisibility potion users should always have one empty slot on their hot bar, as swords can be seen even under the potion effects. They should be used to teleport on or over the walls while invisible to allow the heavy troops to come in safely.

PvP better
Many people think Minecraft PvP is "just clicking with a sword". Learning how to PvP may seem simple, but takes days, weeks, even months to completely master PvP.
Getting killed? With this guide and some practice, you will be killing diamond people with iron! First off. Swords are everything. Kill your enemy, and he won't hurt you anymore. Unless you are a tank and have some kind of lucky-level-30-enchanted sword, always remember that swords will save your life any day.
Leather armor The weakest armor, full leather armor will shield you for 28% of damage taken. If anyone has full leather armor, the thing that they will likely be able to get(and because risk of death is high), is an iron sword because leather is just about as easy to farm as iron is to find . If you ambush them with an iron/stone sword, you should be able to get about 2 or 3 critical hits in most cases. Each critical hit should be able to do 6 to 7 damage (♥♥♥-3.5 hearts.) Please note that they will likely start running. The best thing to do is to cut corners, meaning if he's waiting to see a wall to turn, turn right when he turns, that way you will get to him because you're both at the same place and he has traveled the most. Jump whilst sprinting to get to your enemy if you have the hunger to spare.
Gold armor Many people don't use this armor, and it shields for 44% of damage, if fully worn. A diamond sword critical hit will do ♥♥♥ hearts on it.
Chain armor This is the least used armor because it is so hard to get. Protecting for 48% of all damage, it is about as effective as gold armor.
Iron armor The second best armor and one of the most effective sets of armor (due to iron being easy to find) iron armor seems fairly weak to be the second best armor. It protects for 60% of damage taken. A stone sword will do 1 full heart of damage against it with no buffs. A critical hit with a diamond sword will do 1.5-♥♥ hearts of damage, and if that is Sharpness I then it will do ♥♥ to 2.5 hearts of damage.
Diamond armor The strongest armor. It withstands a lot of punishment. Even a Sharpness V (5) sword will only do ♥ to 1.5 hearts of damage. It protects against 80% of damage taken. If fully enchanted with Protection IV (4) then a Sharpness V sword will only do 0.5-♥ hearts of damage.
Now that we have described all armor, we will now give you a guide on how to PvP. our If you see a strong enemy heading for you, if you have one, drink a Potion of Strength II. As of Minecraft 1.6.1, they increase your damage by a whopping 260%! Even if they have full Protection IV and you have Sharpness III, you still stand a chance because you do ♥ to ♥♥ damage every hit! Note that ♥♥ can only be obtained by critically hitting. If the server has a plugin that shows the health of the enemy, even better!
Practice all the time with a sword against other players, if they allow you, or do it on LAN. Bows are not as useful at close range, depending on the skill of the player, medium-long is usually best. Jumping while shooting while fighting other archers will decrease the chance of getting hit, but only do this if your skill in aiming is good.
Always keep splash potions of Speed II in your hotbar. If you get a hit on your opponent, best with a knockback sword, you can throw the potion (make sure your enemy(s) get as little or none of the potion at all), and start running for your life. This can also be used against someone that loves to run. Remember! You should never jump while sprinting if you have Speed 2! (Jumping too much will cause you to not be able to take advantage of the Speed potion".
If you are in water, always go under your opponent! Be sure not to drown, though. This also applies when you're trying to hit someone and they're up on a mountain! That way, unless they are cheating, you will easily be able to knock them up on the mountain, plus your hits will make them unable to sprint, due to the fact that they are hit against a block. In water fights, you should always keep lily pads and jump off one while looking down and holding right click, so the lily pad will be placed right when you are about to hit the water, and so you will basically be able to walk on water. This works if you want to run, or if your opponent is running, because in water your speed is so low and the knockback is so high that you will only be able to get 2-4 hits on them before they are 10 blocks away. Note that ping affects this.
If you are somewhere where strafing is impossible and you are not in water or hitting someone up a mountain, then jump, hit, and block at the same time. Spam the right and left click buttons at the same time. This will make you take a lot less damage while still dealing good damage to your opponent. If you are on a mountain and someone is repeatedly hitting you, you should jump over them, and then they will be at a higher elevation, so the fight will be turned in your favor.
If you are in water and someone is under you, wait until you get knocked back, when you do you have time to go down in the water, and then you will be at a lower elevation and the fight is turned in your favor. Be sure not to drown though!
On flat ground, you should always sprint after one second of getting hit, if possible. This will eliminate the possibility of the sprint glitch. Note that since 1.7, you can press CTRL to sprint. When sprinting, you will do major knockback, and this will allow you to get free hits on your enemy.

How to snipe
Sniping and using a bow can be difficult for some but for others it's their natural talent. Some people have many styles of shooting such as jumping and shooting, aiming upwards and strafing to the right/left or by simply hammering people with spam shots.
Some basics
In order for you to support your team as an archer/sniper you need:
- as many arrows as you think you need unless you have Infinity on your bow
- armor, unless suicide mission
- food (doesn't have to have high saturation foods since you should be far away from getting hit)
Also it is recommended that you strafe from left to right when shooting and you should also know when the right time it is to shoot another person. A good scenario is that your in battle with another person, and he's a good few blocks away cocking his bow up and you just started cocking your up, what do you do? Well, first of all you release it halfway there then strafe so that when he shoots, you have the advantage of shooting back at him dealing more damage to the enemy. To hit moving enemies, lead the arrow ahead of them some blocks depending on their distance.
Sniping
When sniping, you must calculate some possibilities that may happen and you must aim high for long range shots. e.g.: 80-150 blocks away First you find your target then you use the crosshair to point your bow at the target and then you move it higher like say 60 degrees high(it depends on how far your target is). You may miss your target but keep trying and you may eventually get him. Try to shoot where you think your target will be, take note that arrows travel fast, but won't hit an opponent as soon as you release it because of range.
Shooting styles
Many people who shoot have developed their own style of shooting such as:
Strafing
People who strafe just simply move in one direction while shooting the target and occasionally take cover when getting pinned down. So when shooting you have to aim slightly above your target's head before shooting for a larger hit rate.
Spam shooting
Spam shooting is being very close to a charging target and lightly cocking the bow and shooting the target. This is a risky style you can do but the risk fades if you shoot the target off a high place like a cliff. Note that when encountering another spam shooter, you have to strafe to avoid getting hit by it. Another easy way to kill a spam shooter is to sprint, then jump, this takes advantage of the fact that you can't be hit while your character turns red, and are immune to damage in that short time. This will be more than enough time to spam-click the person do death (however, this is ineffective and it was proven on actual PVP servers).

Less Typical Inventories
Juggernaut Supreme: The title says it all. You are the breaking point, the tip of the spear, the delayer and slayer of many. Setting up this formation on someone is almost impossible, because almost no faction would be nuts or truly powerful enough in order to invest such severe amounts of effort into one possible betrayer or poorly skilled player,and so you must get the equipment and enchants yourself, assuming you think you can live up to your role. There should be 3 max in an entire army.
You will need:
- Protection IV & Feather Falling IV diamond boots
- Protection IV & Thorns III diamond Leggings
- Protection IV & Thorns III diamond chestplate (Note: you only need thorns on one armor piece because minecraft picks the highest thorns when calculating this.)
- Protection IV & Respiration lll & Aqua Affinity l diamond helmet
- Sharpness V + Knockback II + Fire Aspect II diamond sword
- 6 potions of Healing II
- 6 splash potions of Healing II
- 64 steaks
- 64 obsidian
- 4 splash potions of Instant Damage II
- 4 splash potions of Poison II
- 2 potions of Fire Resistance Extended
- 2 potions of Invisibility Extended
- 2 potions of Strength II
- 2 potions of Regeneration II

Note that anything that you can enchant with Unbreaking III, you should.
Now you may be very confused by the lack of bows, an entirely full inventory, and lack of flint and steel, snowballs, fire charges, and other odds and ends. However, this army leading paladin of doom is solely here in order to charge and break lethal formations of enemies while weathering the basic full force of an opposing army. While it does demolish anything that comes near, it generally needs backup to create a lethal movement, including 2 tough, inexpesive guards and many archers to stave off foes so that the Juggernaut Supreme will be able to reasonably handle the flow of enemies. When playing this, take your potions!
Heavy:
These infantry are basically meat sheilds that absorb damage while other troops deal damage. They should be deployed on the front lines, but retreat backwards when they eventulyly get low on health.
*Diamond Armour (Thorns, Unbreaking, as well as various types of protection spread throughout the set)
*Iron Sword (Knockback, Fire Aspect (Optional))
*15 potions of Regeneration
*7 stacks of snowballs/eggs.
*5 splash potions of poison
*64 steak
*5 potions of fire resistance (for nether operations, replace with regen potions or steak in other situations)
Mob Herder
These guys take mobs into battle. Advisable mobs (carefully researched) are:
- spider/cave spider
- witch
- killer bunny, if you can get one
Keep these guys 20+ blocks from the main army. Give invisibility and snowballs to goad mobs.
Quick Builder
You will need: These are for insta-cover. Useful in an open-field battle that's a little too open-field, or defending aboveground fortresses. OK for sieges too.
- Leather armour dyed with a good camo color
- Diamond or iron shovel with as high Efficiency as affordable
- Diamond pick with as high Efficiency as affordable; Make it higher than the shovel unless both are max
- 3-5 stacks dirt
- 3-5 stacks sand
- 3-5 stacks cobble
- 1-2 stacks obsidian (If so, pick MUST be Efficiency IV or V)
- A few lava buckets
- 1-2 stacks of a material that blends into the battlefield
- Map (For spotting locations that need cover)
- iron/stone sword (Just in case)
- TNT and flint and steel (Optional)
- If in 1.8, give a few of them banners if seige/open battle, not if stealth mission, obviously.
Ender Exotic
Now say you want a base in the end, or to attack someone elses. But every time you go in, one of your players looks an enderman in the eye, and you have to retreat before you even reach the enemy base. Enter the ender exotic. These specialist troops are best deployed in groups of five for stealth, and up to fifteen for attack, and perfect for any activity involving the end you could care to think of.
You will need:
- 5 stacks of ender pearls
- a pumpkin (not good for camouflage. use only when enderman numbers are high).
- 5 stacks of snowballs (for clearing endermen without provoking them)
- an UNENCHANTED bow
- a stack of arrows
- an efficiency V diamond pick
- lightly enchanted diamond armour. If stealth is your goal, instead use purple and light green leather armour (only the boots should ever be light green). Whichever you choose, feather falling boots are COMPULSORY!
- 3-5 water buckets
- for endermite clearance, 2-3 splash potions of harming II
- possibly 1-4 potions of jump boost II
- a stack of ladders
- 1-3 stacks of food
- an iron sword, just in case. For a stealth mission, it should at most have sharpness I. If it is a combat mission, up to sharpness V and knockback II.
- finally, you must be able to remember the golden rule: naturally, the end is very dark. DO NOT USE FIRE OR LIGHT SOURCES! EVER! (this includes underground as bugs can allow the light to shine up).
Plunderer
You know the problem, everyone has full inventories during battle and all the enemy drops despawn. Enter the plunderer. These guys need a couple guards, but pay for themselves in a single battle, usually. Pre-battle, craft as many chests as possible and put them down. Deliver stuff to the chests.
You will need:
- 10-12 stacks logs, because planks take up more space (For chests)
- leather armour
- Weak sword (He can use a plundered one later)
- 4-5 other plunderers
- 2-3 guards
- Ender chest (Have a guy at base with another ender chest grabbing the most valuable loot in case you lose)
- Lava bucket (Commit suicide if it's hopeless -- You lose your loot, but the enemy doesn't get it back. Also use to dispose of useless loot)
Minesweeper:
The need for these arises when you are raiding an enemy base and there are traps protecting it. MAKE SURE that they will respawn in your base when they are killed, as this feature is key to their deployment and use. Their purpose is to simply charge at the base and try to get in (some infantry should accompany them as guards before they can do this so they arentt massacred by defending troops). This will set off any traps and defenses that the enemy has to keep you from iniltrating their fortress. Make sure to send them in groups , as some bases may have booby traps that only set off after multiple triggers. They can also act as cannon fodder to distract enemy archers.
*1 Speed Potions (to avoid enemy archer fire)
Spelunker: Cave bases. Those are relatively common in mountainous servers. These are relatively hated. From their almost-impregnable bases, they can send hordes of marauders to harass your troops as they search around for the well-hidden base. But let's say you found the cave that holds the base. Sending a massive army into a cave isn't really a good thing. Lack of visibility, ravines, purposely set traps, etc. Enter the Spelunker. The Spelunker is specifically trained to search out enemy bases with the appropriate gear, find said base, and make a successful raid on that base. Basically, cave commandos.
- Diamond sword, Sharpness I
- Fire Resistance Potions ( x 6 )
- Full iron armor( with feather falling boots )
- Night Vision potion ( x10 )
- Diamond pickaxe with Efficiency
- ( in real life ) pencil and paper
Pig rider Use as a prelude to any powerful attack. Minimal equipment, as their purpose is to disorganise the enemy battle line. Hard to get people (except noobs) to play as the risk of death is MASSIVE. give these:
- carrots on sticks (if you are entering an extended battle, two)
- leather cap and tunic ( unenchanted )
- a stone sword
Minecart Charger
- 2-3 minecarts
- Diamond or Iron armor, lightly enchanted if enchanted.
- Diamond or Iron sword with as high Knockback as you can get.
- Bow with as high Punch as you can get.
- A stack of arrows (or just 1 arrow if the bow has Infinity)
- A stack of snowballs or eggs.
- A stack of battle-ready food
The Minecart Charger is for keeping momentum. It pushes back enemies and can pierce holes through enemy lines, then should retreat and let heavy troops through before punching another hole.
Berserker got someone crazed with battle lust? send them in and let them go crazy! all they need to remember is to constantly sprint-jump. Have them fill their hunger bar before the battle with high saturation foods ready for this. best in groups of 1-5, spread out so they do not injure each other. Very good vs cavalry. They should have:
- full leather armour. Give it projectile protection and dye it in combos of red and black.
- axes. these have a higher random crit chance than swords, and should be enchanted with sharpness and knockback, as well as fire aspect.
Harlequin
The counterbalance to the berserker, these warriors MUST be expert strafers. They are designed to charge and destroy large infantry formations. Their skill, gaudy outfits and calmness in the face of overwhelming power is simply terrifying! To be one of these requires not just skill but an ability to control both your fear and anger.
You will need:
- leather armour, with feather falling and combos of red and light green, orange and blue or yellow and purple. This distracts the enemies eye. Even better, field three, each one having a different colour combo! this works with any other multiple of three too.
- diamond swords, with sharpness, knockback and fire aspect as high as you can get them.
- three extended potions of jump boost, swiftness and strength
Mixed:
- Full Juggernaut armor
- A good enchanted sword
- Three or five potions, splash and regular
- Power IV bow
From this you'll get a very mixed inventory. If you happen to get the inventory filled with random items, the best thing to do is to keep away from the initial battle, as staying in the center of it will mean that the enemy will likely loot your stuff upon death. Mixed inventories are better when you don't have a restrictive inventory like a Sniper, and in 1v1 duels.
Boat Troopers:
These trained troops are your infantry in sea! Better than Aqua Troops, and Boat Troopers strike in numbers of usually 2-6, so enemy forts can be attacked and taken by boats.
- 10-20 boats
- At least iron sword, enchanted if possible
- Iron to diamond armor
- Bow with 64-128 arrows (or one arrow for infinity enchanted bow)
- Potions of healing (8-16)
Footnote: Boat Troopers, like Infantry, are semi-expendable and easily replaced.
Spy This is ultimate for assassination and scouting the base, but quite useless in meat shield ops.
- Full UNENCHANTED leather armor
- Diamond sword with Sharpness V
- Three stacks of steak
- 1-12 potions of Invisiblity
- Bow with Infinity I enchant
- 5 potion of Swiftness II
- An arrow
- Basic iron tools with Unbreaking & Efficiency III
- Book and quill (pen and paper are more foolproof from losing what you just have written in your book and quill)
This is the best way to take out pesky snipers. Also for stealing things from other people and destroying traps such as self-destruct devices activator, or the entire redstone system in the whole base. It's highly not recommended to carry book and quill, because... umm... Ok let's just say you're in the enemy base, and you saw a hole in their wall. You will write that in your book and quill. Now some of the enemies has noticed you where you are and what you're doing. They'll catch and kill you and they see the book and quill on the floor what you dropped. They will read it and realize that there's a hole in the wall. See? Its more wise to write all that thing into your nice real live paper! Note: You'll NEED to leave some space in your inventory if you're destroying something.
Cheat User there are only three ways to get one of these: a bug in the anti-cheat software, them being an op or admin or the server allowing anyone to use cheats (very rare). But ok, however its happened, you have one. Heres how to use him.
- you know those fantasy books where the wizard cannot wear armour because it "dulls his magical senses"? well, how wrong can you get? give this guy maxed out gold or diamond armour. the only thing you should leave out is thorns.
- at the start of the battle, build, or get him to make appear, a defended tower. it should have no way up,except tp, and be made of obsidian. from there, he can throw thunderbolts at people and set them on fire(the top room should be made of glass allowing him to see). it should go up 60+ blocks.
- another thing which should be noted is that if he switches to spectator mode, he makes a great spy. how best to discover your enemy generals top secret invasion plan? possess the enemy genral!
Builder: If you get the role of a Builder, you are probably the one that stays behind to repair castle walls and to build last-minute fortifications. If you do get stuck with this job, you better know how to build a somewhat decent fort, or be good at Redstone. If not, the tables will turn. You should get:
- At least 256 redstone dust.
- At least 64 repeaters.
- At least 64 redstone torches.
- TNT (Use in quick TNT cannons and destruction of buildings for fear of them being in enemy hands).
- One or two stacks of stone or stone-based materials (cobblestone, stone bricks, mossy cobblestone, etc.).
- Ladders.
- Basic tools (pickaxe, shovel, axe).
- Obsidian (If so, get a diamond pickaxe).
- Sand or gravel (Somewhat better than stone-based blocks, as walls of sand will continuously fall every time someone tries to break it, but less as sand is less blast resistant and is mined faster than stone).
- 7 lava buckets.
- 1 donkey with a chest containing an Ender chest inside.
Mechanist -Creates slime block mechs and missiles, used to either destroy a target with great intimidating force or just for mass destruction and intimidation as well
- 4 stacks of slimeblocks
- 2 stacks of pistons or more
- 1.5 stacks of sticky pistons or more
- 2 stacks of redstone blocks
- boats
- Knowledge on how to build mechs, bombers and missiles
This class is a technical class that can be used in 1.8 servers but however, it may cause lots of lag(recommended for an entrance into the battlefield or for breaching a hole). It is crucial you understand the full mechanics of the slimeblocks otherwise, you'll fail the raid and be hunted down along with your crew. This class is useful for raiding skybases because of that fact that the missiles are flying. This class can also bring rise to the kamikaze which is quite effective. This class isn't for everyone.
Weapon Team want an artillery system that is easier to understand than a TNT cannon, but can still do damage? The weapon team is for you! it consists of a dispenser filled with fire charges, arrows or splash potions, attached to a lever.
It should have two crew members, a rapid clicker (loops make the machine too hard to transport) and one redstone expert. They should be armed the same as warriors, but with bows instead of swords.
Saboteur: Slightly worse than Spy, since this guy has no armor and iron sword.
- 1 iron sword (Sharpness I or II is recommended)
- 3 Invisibility potions (extended)
- Lots of food
- Bow (Power I or II and Punch I is recommended)
- A stack of blocks (cobblestone, dirt)
- 2 buckets of lava
- Bucket of water
- As much TNT as possible
- Flint and steel
- No armor
- 2 of each potion: Instant Health, Swiftness (Splash is not recommended)
- 1 stack of arrows
- 1 or more stacks of Ender pearls
- 1 stone pickaxe
Note: if you upgrade the gear this could be a great assassain.
The saboteur can be a deadly class if correctly used. The key to becoming good saboteur is always running away at the slightest sign of danger and always killing the enemy when they are not looking. As they have no armor they die quite easily and are extremely vulnerable when not invisible, but if they have armor, then they are even more vulnerable if they have armor, since the enemy can spot then, even if they are invisible. Remember, a saboteur's goal is to inflict the highest damage as possible and then to run away. (Do not bring diamonds on a saboteur mission as the risk of death is high.
Medic:
- 15-17 Splash Potion of Healing II
- Iron sword, slightly enchanted
- Bow
- 32 arrows
- Iron armor enchanted with Protection I
- 64 steak
Not quite good in this example, but useful for healing your friends (be aware of saboteurs and spies because when they're trying to backstab you, you can accidentally heal them).
Siege Trooper:
- Iron sword
- If using armor, gold to iron
- Bow (Optional)
- A few arrows (Optional)
- Lots of cobblestone
- Some redstone
- Lots of levers
- Lots of sand
- Lots of TNT
- Lots of redstone repeaters
This class is used for, well, as the title says, laying siege on overground fortresses. They are used to build TNT Cannons, Flying Machines, battering rams (Close-to-the-ground flying machines with TNT on the front) etc. Good for castles, towers, and sometimes sky bases, but useless against underwater and underground bases.
Mole:
- Efficiency IV pickaxe (diamond, or even better, gold with Unbreaking III)
- Iron sword
- 1-3 potions of Night Vision ext
- 1-3 potions of Fire Resistance ext
- If any armor, iron
- 4-5 TNT + Method of lighting (flint and steel, lever, redstone torch etc.)
This class is used, unlike the above, to raid underground bases. Dig around a base to find weak points, then blast them with TNT. By no means a solo worker, this class will need a couple of infantry and at least 1 more Mole to work well. In an field battle, send a team of Moles with maps along with a couple if Juggernauts underground to go to the second or third enemy line, then quickly come out and slaughter unsuspecting players. After the alarm is raised, they should go back to the front lines, as once the alarm is raised, the enemy might foolishly send their front-line solders to kill the now-nonexistent infiltrator, leveing the enemy front line weak.
Aqua Trooper:
- Iron sword, best if it has Sharpness or Knockback. Fire Aspect is useless in water.
- A bow with Power lll to V Punch lll and Infinity l (along with an arrow)
- Leather cap with as high Respiration as you can get, dyed blue
- Rest of armor leather, also blue dye
- 2-5 stacks of snowballs or eggs
- A lot of water breathing and night vision potions extended.
- A couple of boats for escape
This class is used for fighting in water. It can kill almost anyone by sinking under them, then, as they pursue, surfacing and pinning the enemy down with snowballs or eggs. Since armor does not block drowning, this is a good way to kill juggernauts.
Nether Exotic: For Nether-based operations.
- Gold or iron sword, Knockback+Fire Aspect crucial
- Red dyed leather armor (or better). Feather Falling is good, fire protection is mandatory unless using potions of fire resistance
- 3 buckets of lava, plus several extra for picking up lava from lava seas
- 3 buckets of milk
- 1-2 stacks of snowballs or eggs
- 3-5 splash potions of Instant Damage II
- 2-4 splash potions of Poison II
- 5 splash potions of Instant Health II
- 2 flint and steels
- Lots of fire resistance potions (ext)
- Possibly some TNT

- Fishing Rod (for pulling enemies into lava)
Jungle/Forest Exotic
- Lime or Green dyed Leather armor with Protection/Projectile Protection, 2 to 5 Thorns on the chest, and Feather Falling 4 on the boots
- Iron or Diamond sword any enchantment, fire aspect is preferred.
- Bow, with any enchantment.
- Splash Potions of Instant Damage, Poison, and/or Slowness
- Potion of Fire Resistance, Instant Health, Regeneration, and/or Strength
- Flint and Steel
Used in teams of 1-4 if battling in a jungle and/or forest.
Urban Soldier Pretty much any class can be used once you're fighting urban warfare, from juggernauts to cataphracts. But for specialized urban warfare, ( think: a battle set in a urban setting, with lots of cover zones and places to hide ) you need the urban soldier. An archer and soldier rolled into one, the urban soldier can fight and shoot whenever needed.
- Iron armor, Protection III, Fire Protection III, and Unbreaking I
- Diamond sword, Sharpness II and Unbreaking II
- Bow, Power III-V, Flame, Infinity, and Unbreaking II
- Healing II potion ( x5 )
- Arrow
Sky Archer
This is it. You are the ultimate sniper/archer, the top warrior in your faction. Your base was raided maybe once? The enemy never saw you coming.

You may be confused about all the potions, but your skybase should have a brewing stand, with a melon farm and a pigman/creeper grinder for all the potions. They really make a difference.
Mage:This is an class that is good for not very good pvpers, and deals extreme damage if used correctly. It uses potions and severely enchanted armors and swords. it can easily kill an juggernaut, with Harm potions. Is better to equip gold or diamond armor and swords, because of their high enchantments. Its expensive, but less expensive than a juggernaut, their main drawback is that their need to go alone, because the de-buff potions can kill several allies very easily.
- Sword (if diamond, bring one, if gold, bring three) enchanted with Fire Aspect, Sharpness, knockback (to push away strong players that managed to reach close)
- Armor (if diamond, brings only one set. if gold, brings two sets) enchanted with protection, thorns, and feather falling.
- Potions. bring at least 10 harm II potions, 5 poison, some slow (3, or 4) to slow down other players using speed potions, and buff potions in general.
- Cobwebs. slow down heavy armor players to kill them with your enchanted blade.
Wolf Commander
- Full iron to diamond armor, not enchanted
- 6-20 wolves
- Iron sword, lightly enchanted
- Two stacks of bones (for wolf taming)
- Two stacks of rotten flesh (for wolf healing)
- A stack of roast chicken

This guy will attack in group of 2-4. The wolf commander can also tame other wolfes found from other place.

When you are trying to raid an enemy-controlled village, or even the village of a small faction, you'll need a bunch of infantry and Skirmishers. These chain dudes can accompany the soldiers to the target, and while the infantry is raiding and wrecking, well, the village defenses are going to arrive. That's what the skirmishers are for. Attacking and holding off defenders. Skirmishers also can function as light cavalry, supporting attacks on enemy flanks.
Charger: The basic cavalry of an army, these troops rely on brute force and Skirmishers to prevent them from getting into massacres. Chargers are pretty hard to defeat, as from an infantry's point of view, a solid line of iron-armored troops on iron-armored horses charging towards the infantry. They're also good at charging, hence the name.

Knight: Heavy chargers, the knight is a force to be reckoned with. Much more cheaper to build than the formidable cataphract, the knight is still a versatile soldier and can break the lines of many infantry.

Cataphract
Basically a juggernaut on a horse, the cataphract was an eastern cavalry type. Apparently some faction servers have adopted the cataphract as its supreme warrior. More deadly than juggernauts, the cataphract is usually deployed against important targets. However, this unit is weak against aquatic soldiers, so beware. Cataphracts are expensive to field, so you should only have a few.

Slaves
So when you raided that last base, you took some slaves hey? Well put them to tood use in battle. They are great for absorbing firepower. give them one "slavemaster" to every 2-3 slaves. Keep the slavemasters out of combat as their weapons are designed for goading slaves forward, not doing damage. Also, clear their inventories after each battle (or if you can't, kill them). You never know what they might have picked up! Slavemaster should have:
- full iron gear, lightly enchanted
- sticks enchanted with knockback
- snowballs enchanted with punch
- an iron sword with sharpness I, just in case
- a lead and fence to recapture any deserting slaves
Slaves should have:
- Unenchanted leather armour. Dye it bright colours if you want them to be arrow magnets.
- unenchanted stone or iron swords
- maybe a bow and half a stack of arrows
Remember to be merciful to your slaves. I set mine free and they join my army as melee troopers if they survive four battles, or manage to kill something big like a juggernaut supreme. Feed them well, give them shelter, and don't just kill them for fun. A friend of mine once did that, and his slaves revolted. To his credit, his ten faction members lasted three whole (minecraft) days before they were overwhelmed by about ten times their number. I was on that server too, and I went to check out the remains once all the slaves had moved back to their faction lands, and what they left of his fort couldn't be described as a ruin. In general, follow the advice above, and ensure the number of slaves your faction owns never exceeds double the actual number of faction members. If you get too many, well, you can always just sell them to other factions!
Armored Archer: The armored archer is also another deadly class. Traditionally, archers have been lightly armed, but the armored archer is new. Heavily armored, and possessing some serious firepower, the armored archer can be sent into melee at need. Since the armored archer is an unorthodox class, the way these troops are also deployed is also unorthodox- armored archers are deployed in actual combat, filling enemy soldiers with arrows. Do not mass your armored archers with your main army, because, chances are, when you're surveying a battle, some of your troops will go up in flames, often ignited by the closeness of those troops with the armored archers. Rather, have them be at least 6 blocks away from the main army, protected by squads of 5-9 melee infantry, firing their arrows away at enemy formations. As with the mixed archer, a less expensive version of this troop, a person going for Armored Archer needs PERFECT aim and quick reflexes to fill in this versatile, deadly role. If a battle is going poorly, they can be used as reinforcements for the line infantry. ONLY do this if there is no other choice.

Mixed Archer An inexpensive variation on the armored archer, this class is best used in small, spread-out groups. You need PERFECT aim, yes, PERFECT aim for this class. Most effective for players having excellent skill with aiming & bows. Can also be sent into melee at the last need.

Wallbreakers Based off the Clash of Clans troop... Best used against aboveground fortresses with TNT-destroyable walls. The Wallbreaker is used when troops are exhausted and dozens of sieges have failed. Have this guy run up to enemy walls under the cover of nightfall and an invisibility potion, and place TNT around an area. Then, the Wallbreaker lights the charges. Leaders can have the Wallbreaker die with his explosives, or be the first unit inside the fortress.

Pyroshock This is the last say in most operations. Don't make your entire army out of them, though.

These could be useful as they are simply equipped with cheap items and will most likely not be looted after death. Sending storms of them with Juggernauts and Diamond Legion soldiers mixed within them could be some form of protection for the highly equipped Juggernauts. 70 or so of them could be sent on a raid, most likely most of them would've been killed during it but would provide some distraction.

These expendable units are used when an army is defeated in a strategic or decisive battle. The vanguard is sent out to stave the enemy while the bulk of the faction escapes. It consists of: 30 infantry, 15 archers, and... 16 Bare Skimishers! Skirmishers are good for holding off enemies ( note: most will die ), but do not use them in open battles or they will get killed, easily.
Light Skirmisher

This is what happens when a bare skirmisher gets some armor. Much more harder to kill than an unarmored horse dude. Mostly applied when the escaping faction wants to make sure that the enemy is halted. A bit more expensive than the bare dudes, these are some efficient stoppers and stavers. However, never use in open combat, as they will die.

Jungle or Urban warfare
When two factions encounter each-other like this, stealth and vigilance play huge roles, so:
- Crouch if you are not in a hurry.
- Everyone should have a bucket of lava.
- Everyone should have a fire resistance potion or water bucket.
- Everyone should have some kind of bow to kill enemies that would take too long to reach.
- Everyone should have several potions of invisibility just so that players can run around with out their nameplate sending everyone after them
- Nobody, not even juggernauts should go alone for fear of being mobbed by enemies, because what if an enemy juggernaut you are feared of battles against you? Then you will get killed easily, even if you are a juggernaut. Don't do this not even if you are a murderer. The murderer can kill a player in one hit, but can get smacked by some splash harming ll like every one else. Recommended groups are 3.
- Battle-Archers should go to areas of the battlefield that are generally not easily accessible and a good perch.
As with any other battle, potions still beat heavy armor, heavy beats melee, and melee beats potions. Archers beat everything more than 12 blocks away, but rarely deal the damage necessary to kill heavy armor. All could get slaughtered by invisibility potions. Exotics should keep invisibility and fire resistance in an easy to access area of their hotbar, but travel in company of infantry or archer groups.Snipers should get somewhere were they can see but not be seen, preferably a jungle tree or a tall tower.
Cavalry is not a good choice in jungle and urban warfare ( however, in cities with wide streets, a group of cavalry will be a formidable force ). This is said because cavalry usually are good for raiding or fighting on wide, open, spaces. Not good for enclosed spaces, as their high perch will be shot at. Nevertheless, if cavalry is used in jungle warfare, try to surround them with infantry. The infantry will act as cannon fodder, allowing the cavalry to escape.
TNT landmines are not actually very effective in most cases, as enemies hear it and run away.
TNT cannons are impractical to make and shoot more than a few times, they also take extensive knowledge and excessive time to aim and fire.
Fortification Assaults
City Assaults
In a city assault, you attack a walled fortification with civilians inside.
First off, here are the general setups.
- Archers will be on the wall.
- The entrance will be heavily guarded.
- Walls will be reinforced with some obsidian or water.
Do not ever stand idle in range of arrows. Set up camp a little while away.
Don't waste arrows in a literally up-hill battle against archers on the walls. (unless it's meant as a distraction or cover) Unless hardcore mode is enabled or beds or /homes are disabled, killing beds and raiding chests is extremely important.
You cannot starve them out, they can mine and farm just as easily when you are there as when you aren't. Tunneling in is probably best. If that is not possible for some reason such as bedrock or plugins, let them get tired out trying to scare you away, running out of arrows, then send in someone invisible with an ender pearl to dig a small hole in the wall. At this point, simply charge juggernauts into range and kill enemies, while sending all melee infantry through the breaches in the walls. All exotics should teleport in with ender pearls, wreaking havoc with TNT and lava while invisible. They should probably get on top of roofs or the like to avoid detection, then spam potions on to the faces of any juggernauts trying to escape or stop your infantry. Once the walls are relatively free of enemies, have a few snipers climb up. They can make short work of enemies near the breach. If you have the Diamond Legion, use those to clear the walls and make marauding assaults
If you will it, you can use a wither, as they are localized weapons of mass destruction, but you risk your own troops in the frenzy.
If you have a large force, you can attack multiple points of the city, and overextend their forces around the city
Exotics should be modified to carry TNT, redstone torches, etc. as opposed to so many health potions.
About 1/3rd of Exotics should also search out enemy chests and beds immediately, this will stop the enemy from respawning in the city and getting powerful gear again.
A possible city assault plan should go as such:
1: send a spy or two to gauge weakness in the design. If possible you could use suicide bombers and saboteurs to use TNT to explode key buildings and defences.
2: Build a major, somewhat safe siege tower/ about 800 blocks away with 8-20 ender pearl cannons at least.or dig under and swarm in. 2.5 : Use Diamond Legionnaires, if you have them, to assault the enemy and draw their fire.
3: Have all Juggernauts teleport into the city with the cannon, after the exotics drink an invisibility potion and secure the area.
4: Order at least 6 ladder shafts into the city and flood in.
5 : send a "drone" infantry or spawned mobs team to combat or distract the bulk of the enemies. Then the juggernauts and heavy attack squads can sneak up behind and kill them from behind as either way they face they are attacked.
6: Have the invading Juggernauts sprint directly toward the center and place obsidian above any chests.
7: Through all ladder shafts, have infantry continue assault and destroy everything that is not a chest and breakable with their tools. This IS war!
8: Seize all chests, destroy all of the city remains, and plant trees or lava over the rest to ensure they cannot EVER recover. Or just slaughter the citizens and either dismantle the city and use the materiels salvaged to build more weapons and forts. Or you could do the same thing but keep the city intact and use it as a base in enemy territory. If the destroy option is done then use multiple TNT cannons, mortars and dismantleing squads to turn the remains and everything in a 20 block radius of it into a crater. Then add lava to the hole and pull out.
Sky Castle Assaults
A fully manned, well built sky castle is the most formidable fortress possible in Minecraft (that is not one of those ridiculous bedrock-to-sky solid 1000*1000*252 obsidian boxes that take forever to make with a ton of dispensers and lava) as a single unarmored archer on the defense platform could send a dozen undefeatable juggernauts plummeting to their certain death, even if they all pillared up at the same time with a semi-defensive structure and attempted to get in with Ender pearls. Assaulting a sky castle is a dangerous and difficult attack, as an attacking army 10 times as numerous as that of the defenders can be easily destroyed without ever even causing damage if they do not carefully plan their assault.
For the defenders:
- Build it at least at y=180 for the bottom.
- Put pressure plates all over the floors to nail invisible exotics and assist in hearing where everyone is not to mention to make any traps harder to spot
- Have a nether portal, but keep it turned off unless it is in-use.
- Make two or more rings around the bottom of the castle which allows archers to move around and fire at things straight below them with relative ease.
- Farm everything you can in the castle, food, chickens, pigs, cows, sheep, creepers, skeletons, spiders, witches, and trees are a must.
- If you have a bigger sky castle you can make a villager trading hall providing but not limited to diamond/iron gear, enchanting services, arrows, apples, porkchops, saddles, redstone, glowstone, and glass.
- try making mob containers with droppers ready to dispense diamond/iron gear at a switch that allows diamond equipped skeletons/zombies, a few witches, and a dozen or so creepers to drop onto the attacking force.
- If the server lets players set their homes ask them to make it far away and near the items below
- There are some items that are difficult to farm on a castle, stock up on them:
- Ghast-tears: for potions, just in case.
- Iron: for buckets. (Unless you have an iron golem farm)
- Gold: For potions.
- Lava: for dropping on people.
- Ender pearls: for abandoning ship or surprise-attacking the juggernauts (often a suicide mission)

Server Wars happen when one party, typically griefers, organize into an army and invade or attack a certain area or group of people on a server.
This attacking party is typically very organized and very well armed. They launch an attack big enough to cause a disturbance on the server. Another party, typically admins, retaliate against this attack. If the retaliating party is composed of admins, it will typically resort to Intel and the power to ban players. However, admins will counterattack with weapons in the process of banning the attacking players. Unless they allow griefing of course.
In an all out server war,you have two choices: you can either fight for one of the two parties, or you can flee to safety and let the admins sort it out.
Most players decide to fight for their server, however, players who have a lot of resources like diamond, might feel the need to protect their precious resources and flee to safety. If you decide to join the party that is defending the server, you don't really need to worry about firepower since you will probably be armed by fellow soldiers.
If you join the attacking party, you should equip enchanted weapons with high damage. It is also good to equip weapons of mass destruction such as TNT, fire charges, lava buckets, etc. You should do everything in your power to keep your nametag hidden if you don't want to be banned. Being banned means you are out of the server, and out of the war. You can no longer fight alongside your comrades.
When you are fighting with the attacking party, you typically want to destroy as much as possible and invade as much of the server as you can.
Remember, the retaliating party doesn't always win even though they seem like the "underdogs". Server wars are won with great soldiers, and most importantly, great leaders. You don't have to be a "grizzled" war veteran to be a great general, a great general is someone who is smart and fights alongside his/her soldiers. Remember, great generals take point, they don't watch from a safe distance and bark orders while watching their fellow players get slaughtered.
Also, if the server has mods equipped, especially mods like "flans mod", "flintlock weapons mod", or "Mo' explosives mod", use that to your advantage!
Because of the nature and the danger of these wars, I feel the need to explain the mechanics of these "groups" of people that are attempting to overthrow the server.
Generally, the group may know each-other personally. If three friends chose to do this, and each friend tells two of their friends, then we already have nine people ready to attack. Doing this makes it easier to create order and hierarchy. This is also done to deter any traitors or turn coats in the group. Some of these groups go into faction servers, claim land, and make a legitimate faction. They will probably use the faction as a temporary "bank" for what they steal and make. They will build a secondary base, and will use this when they attack. They are highly armed, and are equipped with heavy enchants, potions, lava buckets, redstone, TNT, and whatever the Modifications on the server make available. They disband the faction, and move to the other base and create a new faction, (if they make one at all) and begin their attack.
As I said, there is a hierarchy involving the status and rank of the players usually, there are generals of the troops that go to battle. They are on the battlefield. And they command the players to attack. But these generals get their orders from one player. This player is the equivalent to the "god father". He is never seen, and is in the game, but never comes out of his "hideaway" the godfather is confined in a room that usually made of obsidian. And is hidden either under the ground, or in the sea. IT IS NEVER BUILT IN THE SKY. You can never expect to find it 10,000 blocks from spawn. (Unless the leader is an absolute idiot) usually it is built 15,000 blocks from spawn. Sometimes even farther. The leader stays in his box and commands the army and never leaves because he can't afford to be seen, or banned. There is no door, and it is only accessible to the leader and a select few. The location or coordinates are usually corrupted.
Several of these groups have primarily PvP champs, but some of them have hackers, x-rayers, cheat mods, and whatever they chose. Most times the hacker is the godfather. And if he isn't, he is very close to the top. They also have spies and intel groups. This is not the most usual case, but there are exceptions.
Some of them have strategies that they commonly use. Some are griefing, personal raids, and singling out a player. For example, if they know that a player has valuables (diamonds,enchanted books, etc.) and they don't know where it is hidden, they may grief and threaten the player.

If you want griefers or spawnkillers on your side, be really nice to them. Most of them are notoriously good at PvP from practice, and giving them a reason to be on your side through making sure they never have to worry about starving or being hunted by others is a good way to avoid alienating them. Ironically, this may be the most effective way to make allies with random people, giving them full access to all of your resources and your considerable efforts to be hospitable will generally remove any want to take your items. (As always, this may backfire).

If a server has an online dynamic map or if Rei's minimap is allowed (most likely), USE THEM. Rei's minimap helps you understand what structures are ahead of you, and Online maps show everything and also show locations of players. Use them to your advantage.
Participate in Server Events
Whether it'd be a Drop Party or an organized PvP match, participate in server events and you'll be known by most members in the server. This means people will have second thoughts of attempting to kill you.
Defending Your Base
Let's say you're on a faction server and you have many enemies. Your base has not been found until now. Two guys each holding a Sharpness V, Fire Aspect II, Knockback II sword and wearing Protection IV armor are directly outside your base setting up a TNT cannon.
You should always have defenses that are innately active, such as obsidian and water to negate explosions and if available, a spawner that can funnel out mobs on command (go exploring for spawners) to distract and dangerously deter, or snow golems to break armor.
If you have these, don't jump down and PvP. Wait for the spawning mobs to break their armor, or call for your faction members and allies to assist in defeating the enemy.
In these cases, booby traps are good, so set up booby traps everywhere where the enemy can't find them. In fact, make some that are meant to make the enemy know about the traps but it itself is a trap. These work as warnings and signals. Use tripwires and wool under them to use as signals for example.
Hate the Spawn
If you're building a massive fortress near the spawn, a griefer or simply a plain idiot might run behind you and kill you, disassemble your fortress and run off with your materials. Well, the easiest method to prevent this is to build your house away from spawn and try to survive a good distance away from spawn. It is usually a good idea to use the /sethome command around this area where you wish to live, as if it is a long way away from spawn and you die, it's a long walk, or mad chase if there are spawnkillers with diamond armor and enchanted diamond swords. Using the /home command if you used /sethome cuts the time getting to your safe zone drastically, usually having the spawnkillers and griefers be dazzled in confusion.
What about my valuables?
The best way to keep your most precious valuables is put them in an ender chest. Then put a chest in your house with basic invaluable items in it (with a few valuables mixed in to help fool them), and bury a chest with 8 obsidian, an eye of Ender, a crafting table, and other less semi-valued objects in it a short way away from your house.
Even if your entire house is a crater and the ender chest you placed is destroyed, the chest you buried will still be safe, and your can craft an Ender chest with what is in it to access all your valuable items and loot in there, as well as the loot in your actual chest.
Basic PvP supply setup
The following is a step-by-step tutorial on how to survive while being new to a PvP server. Follow in this order:
- Go solo for now. If the server you play on has Factions, make one to protect your stuff. Be sure to walk at least 5500 blocks. Using a boat is a good idea as you do not need food and can travel at night.
- Go in the opposite direction people are moving toward. This prevents you from being noticed.
- Make sure it is far away from anything. There's nothing more horrifying than your mortal enemies being your next-door neighbors.
- Make a small, undetectable base. Underground is the least noticeable around layer 10 is ideal, putting you near good materials and hiding your nameplate on the surface.
- Cheating is something that undermines every setup. Step carefully!
- Start gathering immediately. Do them in this order;
- -Get wood.
- -Make a bed to set your new spawn point (unless your server is customized).
- -Make chests and protect them.
- -Build a farm.
- -Find coal and iron.
- -Look for diamond. Layer 12 eye position is the best, but look for caves especially.
- -Mine obsidian and reinforce the walls of your base.
- -Make a portal to the Nether in order to find blazes and nether wart.
- -Once you have a blaze rod or two, start hunting for Endermen.
- -Make an ender chest.
- -Start brewing potions.
- -Find leather and sugar canes.
- -Make an enchantment table if you have the tools to and keep it well concealed.
- -Make an anvil to combine enchantments.
- -Enchant your diamond armor and sword.
- -Tip: Enchant Some leather armor with Protection IV if possible and a stone or wooden sword with extreme enchantments. This will trick players into thinking "That guy is terrible and doesn't even have good armor". Then sneak and follow them (use an invisibility potion if you have one), and they may end up revealing a base or hidden valuables. If you know you can beat them then go for it. Big tip: use potions always!
Tip: You must have fallback in your base in the case of hard times. This means:
- A renewable source of food,
- A renewable source of wood, and
- A set of stone tools to restart the gathering of supplies.
- To make raids against you rare, it is recommended to live in the Nether (but not the End since it's highly coveted) where people normally don't go. It's dangerous, but not as dangerous as living in the overworld. Keep in mind, if you have a mining base, that too must be defended as since raiders can get there via the portal.
- Make a faction and start recruiting.
-Note to do this when only a few people are online to make sure that nobody else is there to make you enemy (if you're lucky). (Factions is a Bukkit plugin and is not part of a vanilla server.)
That's it! Not too long ahead, you should become good enough to last through most attacks... eventually.

Despite lag making people randomly visually act, cause injury because of damage just showing up, and crash the server, it may still be useful instead of a nuisance if you know how to control it to your advantage. Whenever you hit someone under the effects of a lag spike, there is a chance that they won't be hurt and can escape. You can use this time to run when a lag spike comes, therefore you may escape if necessary. Keep in mind, lag also delays redstone machinery, meaning if there's a staircase that only activates when you're on a pressure plate, you can get up easier.
失误
Ambushing someone is good. Its even better when he/she turns around to attack you with the wrong item! (e.g. a cooked chicken) This makes an easy kill. Take this advantage. And try to make sure this does not happen to you. If it does, it can cost you everything you have on hand!

- 突击!

- Creative Tactics and Weapons
Who says you need normal weapons to beat a strong enemy? Nobody, that's who! The truth is, using weapons that your enemy doesn't even think about will make you more probable to beat your enemy. If you know how to use them, that is. For instance, if you are fighting a juggernaut, there are few weapons usable against him;
- Potions (most effective)
- Snowballs and eggs (to knock him back)
Potions harm and distort the enemy, making them the most effective against especially such people with Protection IV armor. Snowballs and eggs will knock the enemy back. You can project him into lava or a pit, and as part of a bug in the game it damages armor as well because it technically harms the player pummeled by it. Always try to find a way around normality!
Good Philosophy for Fights
- "Only the dead have seen the end of war."
There is that one case of being Left for Green. This means that your squad disbanded, you are out, all alone with maybe a few enemies a kilometer or two behind you looking for you, and you're starving. Be independent. What if nobody is there to help you? What if your leader takes all the valuables and leaves his troops out to die? You must gather resources, get help of any kind, whether it be a lone man just with a stone toolkit or a juggernaut in Protection IV armor, and you must be careful and start your own faction. Tip: Since anyone can be bought…eventually, keep your own secret, hidden, well guarded bases. Never tell anyone about it. It is for you and only you.
- Watch videos and tutorials on how to build traps, and be smart with what you learned. Many people know how to make traps. That is good on one hand, but on another they might not know how to use their knowledge to their advantage. Combine traps and improvise offline.
- Don't overkill yourself. Think first before charging ahead to do something. Think first of the necessities, which are supplies, and deal with the secondary needs after.
- Don't be scared to act like a coward. If you stand no chance, save what you can save and run! If you're nearly killed, and have no hope of victory? Run! And don't let yourself be lured into 1-on-1 PvP unless you can win this: use your mind over your in-game muscles! Preferably, use both! Most important is: use your environment wisely. For example: if your in a jungle biome, run into the trees and attack your foes! or maybe: if your in a big NPC-village with iron golems: make your foe hit the Iron Golem, then run of and snipe the foe! if your on a small island in an ocean biome: run into the ocean with a boat, sail a little away, and use your bow to take down that diamond-armor juggernaut! It will all be yours if you succeed! Your sword might be a strong weapon, but your bow is even stronger if you use your mind. Also, don't be scared to use potions: they can give you a great advantage over your non-potion using foes.
- Evaluate your position. In other words, take into account all your advantages, all their advantages, and weigh the options. Sometimes, you need to guess and check. The most important ones are your advantages or disadvantages in:
- Armor and armor enchants
- Swords and sword Enchants
- Bows and bow Enchants
- Ender pearl or portal availability
- Potions, skill, and hunger
The most iffy is skill. Some people are so good with their timing that they can calmly mine and take their diamond ore, then swing around and shoot just as soon as you are within a block of them!
In fact, who says you need better equipment to win? Let's say that your base is in the sky with a public chest containing some equipment. Then, all of a sudden, you come down with one teammate and realize that the base is being raided! In the chest, you find some string and cobblestone. The enemies are in iron armor, but enchantments are unknown due to this being before the 1.3 update. Now, if the raider's armor was not enchanted, then you're in luck. A stone sword against iron armor with no buffs deals a full heart of damage. A fully charged bow does about as much damage as a diamond sword. Even if you have no armor, you still somewhat stand a chance against those two since it's you and your teammate fighting them. You do not need to be the same size as long as you can beat them. (Fun fact: This was a true story and the contributor who wrote this probably would have repelled the raiders if he had known this earlier!) If you and your team mate are strategic, let's say they stick together, and your enemy doesn't, then you are almost guaranteed to kill them, that is if both of you have at least stone swords and he is alone with an iron sword and full iron armor. If you got lucky enough to mine a diamond sword, bring that out too: if you can, enchant with even just Sharpness I, which will do about 1.5-2.5 hearts every hit. If you somehow have gotten a Strength II potion, maybe by buying it on a server, then DRINK IT! It will multiply your damage by 3.6, so that 2.5 hearts, if you make that a critical hit (by falling when attacking) (will do 3.0-3.5 hearts) WITH Strength II, then you just might have killed your opponent in one or two hits.
- Get to your senses.
You may be thinking that people who have lost so much that their anger is uncontrollable are going to go psycho to win and when people come with supreme equipment you should be scared out of your wits, since that "causes" adrenaline. No! Anger and fear are both factors to defeat. When either happens, whether it be an attempt to kill a guy who has diamond armor with your fists or combat logging just because you are so scared that you have to go to the bathroom of fear of peeing in your pants, you will most likely forget all the tips you have learned until you get back to your senses. Avoid that. Now, you must stay calm. Run for cover, and don't stop to watch the deaths of your teammates. If you have one, drink a Potion of Swiftness (second tier is highly recommended), and keep running. Do not turn back, do not look back, do think of what's back there, and do not stop. Just keep running until you reach safety, whether it be allied or peaceful territory, or a secret place. Don't stop. Stay sharp. (If you can, bring a fat friend along with you and hope the lethal enemies kill him and not you.)
- Peace, dude.
Remember what's been said about not trusting anyone? Your turn to chip in to taking a stab at backstabbing. Create peaceful factions for your team. Their only purpose is to earn supplies while being impossible to touch.
- Diamonds aren't the key to victory.
If two guys in diamond with enchantments come and raid your base, and you're 4 people in iron, and only you have a full set of diamond equipment, do not bring it out! It is obvious you don't stand much chance as you are overpowered. You do, however, need to keep potions. They should consist of the following:
Poison+Damage+Speed+Health+Invisibility
Also, keep flint and steel, along with fire aspect swords and bows, along with you. And if you find generation errors that create gateways to the Void, use them. Don't forget to keep your dispensers loaded and ready to fire with arrows, damage splash potions, and fire charges. The reason why this equipment and these traps can beat people in diamond is because they go right through their armor. Nothing, not even diamond armor, can resist their effects (except for arrows. Fire, potion effects and Void damage are the only lethal things unaffected no matter what kind of armor.). Also, a potion of invisibility will mean no one will know where you are attacking from!
Also, remember the gift of decoys. Say you have nothing at all and you were just a guy that started in a faction war faction. Use your expendable condition. Say there is a hall of traps designed by a redstone scientist. Throw yourself at the traps, run like a madman, break those hidden redstone clocks, and just kill your player on those lethal traps so your faction can zip in and break a hole in their obsidian shield. To victory!
