Marsh Davies Mojang avatar

What are the Illagers doing in that dank, secluded mansion of theirs? With its redstone jails, elaborate altars and hidden rooms housing strange obsidian structures - it really seems like they are plotting something.

Marsh Davies[1]

A woodland mansion is a very rare structure found only in roofed forest biomes. It is the only place where the vindicator and evoker mobs naturally spawn.

Generation

Woodland mansions generate very rarely in roofed forest biomes, often appearing tens of thousands of blocks away from the spawn. They can be located with woodland explorer maps, which can be bought from cartographer villagers with emeralds, or the /locate Mansion command.

If the player is playing with the Customized world type, woodland mansions will not generate in roofed forest biomes if the biome size is changed[2] or if the ground is too low[3] (higher ground will work fine).

Structure

Because it is generated randomly, the exact structure of a mansion varies. All woodland mansions have these in common: they typically have 2–3 floors, with a wide variety of different rooms, and generate a cobblestone foundation underneath the entire structure (much as a village house does). The top floor is always a bit smaller than the main floor or floors below. A large foyer and a winding maze of corridors are also present in all mansions.

Rooms

There are many different types of rooms in a woodland mansion. Not all rooms are readily accessible - some have sealed entrances, others have no entrances at all. A particular woodland mansion might not contain every type of room, as the interior is randomly generated.

One may access the individual structures of a woodland mansion by utilizing structure blocks to manually load room structures from the /data/structures/mansion[until Lua error in Module:Version_link at line 112: attempt to concatenate local 'text' (a nil value).] or /data/structures/woodland_mansion[upcoming: Lua error in Module:Version_link at line 112: attempt to concatenate local 'text' (a nil value).] folder in minecraft.jar. To do so, set a structure block to Load mode, enter mansion/structure_name[until Lua error in Module:Version_link at line 112: attempt to concatenate local 'text' (a nil value).] or woodland_mansion/structure_name,‌[upcoming: Lua error in Module:Version_link at line 112: attempt to concatenate local 'text' (a nil value).] and press LOAD. A list of possible rooms, the names of these structures, and small descriptions are provided in the table below.

The nether star is a rare item dropped by the wither that is used solely to craft beacons.

Obtaining
Mob loot
The nether star can be obtained only by defeating the wither boss, which is created using soul sand and wither skeleton skulls. One nether star is dropped each time; the dropped amount is not affected by the Looting enchantment. java, nether stars dropped by withers take 10 minutes to despawn and are immune to explosions. bedrock, nether star items never despawn, neither by time nor by explosions.

Usage
The nether star has the same animated glint as enchanted items, potions, and end crystals.

A dropped nether star item cannot be destroyed by explosions. However, it can still be destroyed by a falling anvil,‌java fire, lava, cacti, or the Void.

It is used to craft a beacon.
