This article is about the hostile mob in Minecraft. For the unseen illager in Minecraft Dungeons, see MCD:Warden. For the ancient mob in Minecraft Dungeons, see MCD:Frostwarden. For the character in Minecraft: Story Mode, see Minecraft Story Mode:The Warden.

The warden is a hostile mob summoned by sculk shriekers in the deep dark. Wardens are completely blind, relying on vibrations and sense of smell to identify players and mobs to attack. Wardens have high health and deal the highest melee damage of all mobs, and if necessary, they can launch a ranged sonic boom attack that bypasses blocks and armor.

Spawning

Wardens do not use traditional mob spawning mechanics. When a player activates naturally generated sculk shriekers four times, and there isn't another warden within 32 blocks, a warden emerges from the ground. The emerging animation lasts for 6.7 seconds.

The warning count for sculk shriekers is specific to each player, not each sculk shrieker. This means that the same player can activate four different sculk shriekers, and a warden still spawns on the fourth activation.

Up to 20 attempts are made to spawn a warden within a 11×13×11 box, centered on the shrieker. During each attempt, the game picks a random y column, then the game picks the topmost spawnable block in that column. Spawnable blocks have a top surface with full collision, and the block above must have no collision. Light level has no effect on warden spawning. Like other mobs, the spawning warden cannot collide with any existing entities or liquids.

In Java Edition, the spawning of wardens can be toggled with the game rule doWardenSpawning.

Drops

Wardens drop a single sculk catalyst upon death. They also drop 5 experience if killed by a player or a tamed wolf.

Behavior

Wardens are completely blind and wander randomly around the world after spawning, even if rails, powder snow, or magma blocks are in its way. The warden's hitbox can fit inside of a corridor 1 block wide and 3 blocks tall. This allows the warden to chase foes precisely, even in small cave corridors. Wardens are immune to fire and lava damage, and are not affected by knockback. Nearby vibrations agitate the warden, and it moves toward where the sound originated. It can also sniff the area around it, allowing it to zero in on a single entity's location. Wardens grow more agitated as moving players and mobs create more vibrations.

The warden gives 12 seconds of the Darkness effect to all players within a 20 block radius every 6 seconds. The souls in its chest create a low, throbbing heartbeat, which occurs in tandem with the Darkness effect. As the warden proceeds to become more agitated, these souls and heartbeats occur at a faster rate.[1] A warden prefers to track down mobs that it finds most suspicious, rather than the closest one to its current position.[2]

The warden listens to all vibrations (except the wing flapping vibration) in a 16 block radius around it. Vibrations from other wardens, armor stands, dying mobs, and players in Creative or Spectator mode are ignored. Like with sculk sensors, a sneaking player is not detected when walking, falling, or shooting a projectile. The warden has a 2-second cooldown between detecting vibrations.

Wardens keep track of how angry it is at each suspect as a number from 0 to 150. When the warden notices a vibration, it adds anger to the mob that caused the vibration. It adds 10 anger if the vibration was a projectile, and 35 anger otherwise. However, if the warden notices two projectiles within five seconds, it adds the full 35 anger. Wardens do not get angry at a mob that shoots a projectile if the mob is more than 30 blocks away, although that projectile counts towards the two projectiles within five seconds counter. Anger decays at a rate of 1 per second and clears completely if the target either dies, or switches to Creative or Spectator mode.

Wardens attack mobs that attack or touch the warden. If a warden is directly hurt by a mob, or indirectly hurt by a mob within five blocks, the warden adds 100 anger toward that mob. If a mob comes into contact with a warden, then the warden adds 35 anger toward that mob. The warden becoming angry due to collision with another mob has a one second cooldown.

Wardens sniff the surroundings to detect nearby mobs every 5 to 10 seconds while idle. The sniffing animation lasts 4.2 seconds. At the end of the sniffing animation, the warden detects the nearest mob within a 6 block horizontal radius and 20 block vertical radius. The warden then adds 35 anger toward that mob.

Once a warden reaches 80 anger with a target, it roars, adds 20 anger toward the target, and pursues the target. In this alerted state, the warden pathfinds to the target normally, regardless of vibrations made.

The warden has an inherent bias toward player vibrations, attacks and contact - even if they are already enraged at another mob, players can override this to be targeted themselves. This is not true of any other mob.[3] Apart from players, a warden tracks down and attacks all other mobs, excluding other wardens. The warden can also follow vibrations made by non-mob entities such as projectiles or minecarts.

After 60 seconds of being "calm" and not detecting any vibrations, if the warden is on the ground, it burrows back into the ground and despawns. If the warden is in a liquid, then it immediately despawns without digging instead. The burrowing animation lasts for 5 seconds. The warden is completely invulnerable while emerging or burrowing, excluding damage from /kill, though it can still be pushed by entities, pistons or liquids. Named wardens do not dig or despawn.

The warden's melee attack has a cooldown of 0.9 seconds and disables shields for 5 seconds. If the target is still in its search radius and on high ground or hiding behind walls, a warden can charge up a powerful sonic boom. Specifically, the warden can use the sonic boom if it has been 10 seconds since the warden detects or switches targets, it has been 5 seconds since the warden used a melee or ranged attack, and the target is within the sonic boom attack range of a 15 block horizontal radius and 20 block vertical radius. This guided attack directly attacks the target, passing through blocks and other mobs without damaging them. The warden takes 1.7 seconds to charge up, then unleashes the attack which instantly hits the target as long as the target is within attack range. The attack takes an additional 1.3 seconds to cool down before the warden can use melee attacks again for a total of 3 seconds. The sonic boom is visible with the formation of green-blue particles that are quickly projected out of the warden's chest. This attack bypasses shields, armor, enchantments, and even the wither armor of the wither. Only the Resistance effect can reduce this attack's damage.

Entity data

Wardens have entity data associated with them that contains various properties.

Java Edition:

Main article: Entity format
  • Entity data
    • Tags common to all entities
    • Tags common to all mobs
    •  anger: Anger management of the warden.
      •  suspects: List of suspects that have angered the warden.
        • A suspect.
          •  anger The level of anger. It has a maximum value of 150 and decreases by 1 every second.
          •  uuid: The UUID of the entity that is associated with the anger, stored as four ints.

Advancements

There are currently no advancements associated with killing a warden. The warden is intended to be a natural disaster that is nearly impossible to kill and best avoided.[4] Therefore, killing a warden doesn't count for the Monster Hunter advancement, nor is it needed to receive the Monsters Hunted advancement.[5]

History

2020Several pieces of concept art were created for the warden, known at the time as the stalker.
Warden (pre-release 1) A prototype of the original stalker design was programmed into the game.
Warden (pre-release 2) Warden (pre-release 2 alternate) A second version of the stalker could transform into a form that was less wide and tall when chasing an entity or player, while its regular form was meant to disguise as a treasure totem. This iteration got scrapped as it was considered too goofy and insufficiently scary.
2020The stalker was renamed to hollowed.
Several pieces of concept art were also created for the hollowed design iteration.
Warden (pre-release 3) A prototype of the hollowed design was programmed into the game.
This iteration was ultimately scrapped, as it was considered too gory for Minecraft.
October 3, 2020Warden (pre-release 4) The warden is announced at Minecraft Live 2020.
October 6, 2020A set of teaser images regarding the warden's size and behavior were posted on Brandon Pearce's Twitter.
October 16, 2021Warden JE1 BE1 New spawning conditions and textures for the warden were revealed at Minecraft Live 2021.
November 26, 2021The warden is revealed to have a sense of smell; it can detect and pathfind toward the general location of a player or mob through a "smelling" action. It also prioritizes smelling the player or mob that it is most suspicious of, rather than the one closest to it.[6][7]
December 18, 2021The warden's emerging animations were showcased.

An arrow serves as ammunition for bows, crossbows, and dispensers. Arrows can be modified to give status effects to players and mobs.

Obtaining
Picking up arrows
Arrows shot by players can always be picked up in Creative mode.

An arrow cannot be picked up by a player in Survival or Adventure mode if:
* It is shot by a player in Creative mode.
* It is shot by any mob able to shoot arrows, such as skeletons, strays, pillagers, or piglins. This includes mobs that do not shoot arrows in normal gameplay, such as illusioners and bow-wielding wither skeletons.
** This is the case even in Creative mode.
* It is shot with an Infinity-enchanted bow.
* It is one of the two extra arrows shot with a Multishot-enchanted crossbow.

Mob loot
Skeletons and strays drop 0-2 arrows upon death. The maximum drop is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0–5 arrows with Looting III.

Strays have a 50% chance of dropping 1 arrow of Slowness when killed by a player. Each level of Looting increases the chance of this drop by 50% of the previous chance. This results in a maximum of 93.75% with Looting III.

bedrock, pillagers also drop 0–2 arrows upon death. The maximum drop is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-5 arrows with Looting III.

Trading
Novice-level fletcher villagers have a 50% chance bedrock, or a 2 chance java, to sell 16 arrows for one emerald as part of their trades.

bedrock, master-level fletcher villagers have a 1 chance to sell 5 tipped arrows for 2 emeralds and 5 arrows. java, they have a 2 chance to sell 5 tipped arrows for 2 emeralds and 5 arrows. Trades java can be the base effect, level II, or extended; bedrock, only the arrow of decay is level II.<!-- A check should be made if it chooses randomly from the whole of the list of possible arrows variants, or it it chooses a base arrow potion effect, then randomly choose from that arrow's options. The first one would make arrow's without a level II, like Fire Resistance for example, slightly less likely than ones with all three options like Swiftness. -->

<!-- None are extended duration, but villagers can trade level 2 arrows. -->
* Arrow of Fire Resistance
* Arrow of Harming
* Arrow of Healing
* Arrow of Invisibility
* Arrow of Leaping
* Arrow of Night Vision
* Arrow of Poison
* Arrow of Regeneration
* Arrow of Slowness
* Arrow of Strength
* Arrow of Swiftness
* Arrow of the Turtle Master
* Arrow of Water Breathing
* Arrow of Weakness
* Arrow of Slow Fallingjava<!-- bedrock fletchers never sell arrows of slow falling -->
* Arrow of Decaybedrock

These are all potion effects except Slow Falling bedrock and Luck java. Trading is the only legitimate way to obtain arrows of Decay in Survival mode.

Bartering
Spectral arrowsjava/normal arrowsbedrock can be obtained through bartering with piglins, and have a ~8.71% chance to give the player 6-12 arrows.

Villager gifts
java, any regular or tipped arrow (except for luck and Bad Luck arrows) can be obtained as a reward item from fletcher villagers when the player has the Hero of the Village status effect.

Retrieving
Arrows stuck in a block that were originally shot by dispensers or by players in Survival without the Infinity enchantment may be collected. Arrows originally shot by skeletons, strays, illusioners, pillagers, piglins, players in Creative, players using the Infinity enchantment, or duplicate arrows created by Crossbows with the Multishot enchantment cannot be collected. Arrows cannot be retrieved when they are stuck in a player or mob, and players or mobs do not drop them when killed. Retrievable arrows have a despawn timer of 60 seconds.

Cauldrons
Cauldron#Potions

bedrock, tipped arrows can also be obtained by using arrows on cauldrons that contain potions. The number of tipped arrows created depends on the potion inside the cauldron. When the cauldron is 1 full, 16 arrows can be tipped. When the cauldron is 2 full, up to 32 arrows can be tipped and when the cauldron is full, an entire stack of 64 arrows can be tipped. This is more efficient than using lingering potions as up to 21.33 arrows can be tipped per potion.

Usage
Bow

When fired, arrows fly in a ballistic trajectory affected by gravity and drag in air, water, and lava. The arrow's velocity is multiplied by 0.99 every game tick, and it also experiences 20 block/s2 of downward acceleration induced by gravity.

Arrows travel approximately 3 blocks when fired parallel to a flat plane with no charge, 15 blocks average with medium charge, and 24 blocks average with maximum charge. When fired from a fully charged bow, arrows can travel 120 blocks if fired from an optimal angle. The maximum height an arrow fired by a bow can reach is around 66 blocks.

An arrow fired in water experiences much more drag than in air: it moves less than 8 blocks before completely losing horizontal speed and falling straight down, although the knockback of the arrow remains unaffected. It also leaves a trail of bubbles in its wake.

There is a random variable to the trajectory of an arrow, given by <code>this.rand.nextGaussian() * 0.0075 * (double)inaccuracy</code> for the x, y and z coordinate. The inaccuracy is relatively small, becoming noticeable over larger distances. The inaccuracy of different arrow delivery devices may differ. Dispensers fire with an inaccuracy of 6, while bows fire with an inaccuracy of 1.

An arrow's speed determine the damage it inflicts. The damage inflicted is calculated by multiplying the arrow's damage value with its velocity in blocks per game tick. When fired from a fully-charged unenchanted bow, arrows do 6 of damage, with a smaller chance to damage for up to 11 via critical hits. They inflict up to 5 damage from a medium-charged bow, and 1 from a bow with no charge. Arrows fired from dispensers always do 3 of damage unless their velocity is modified by an external source. Arrows fired from crossbows do 6 to 11 of damage.

Arrows trigger damage immunity on hit. However, unlike other methods of damage that may bypass invulnerability under certain conditions, arrows hitting the mob while it is invulnerable lose all speed and drop to the ground, dealing no damage unless they contact another mob.

Arrows also stick into objects they come in contact with and remain there for one minute before disappearing; the distance from the object and the angle determine how far into the target the arrow penetrates. Such arrows may be retrieved.

If the arrow has any custom potion effects (NBT tag <code>CustomPotionEffects</code>), all potion effects, including vanilla potion effects (NBT tag <code>Potion</code>) are removed 30 seconds after the arrow stops moving.

If an arrow is stuck in a block, and that block is broken or disappears (e.g., leaves upon decay), then the arrow falls straight down and damages entities below, but never deals a critical hit. The 1-minute despawn timer is then refreshed, meaning it will take another minute for the arrow to despawn.

Arrows bounce off players and mobs immune to damage, like a player in Creative mode, a wither under the "wither armor" effect, and a perching ender dragon.

Arrows shot through lava or (if there's at least a 2 block gap) fire catch on fire and show an appropriate animation until they pass through water. Like arrows shot from a bow with the Flame enchantment, they can set other entities they hit on fire for 5 seconds as well as ignite TNT and campfires.

An arrow shot at any kind of boat or minecart causes the vehicle to break, dropping any components (including container contents).

Arrows can get visually stuck in players java, although not any mobs. They appear as regular arrows regardless of type.

Alex got shot.png|Alex got shot.

Redstone circuits
An arrow can activate a wooden button, wooden pressure plate, a tripwire, or a target. An arrow will continue to power these blocks until it is removed, either due to despawning, or being picked up. Target blocks emit a redstone pulse for one second, as opposed to the static depressed state of the other switches. Non-wooden switches are not affected by arrows.

When arrows are fired into the sides of blocks, they change their orientation to point more downward than their original flight path might indicate. This can cause them to intersect and thus trigger switches above them that they didn't actually hit, or block rails above them.

Explosions
Arrows are affected by explosions while they are in flight. Since explosions can increase the speed of an arrow, they can also increase the damage dealt by them. Java

Variants
Tipped arrows
#Crafting

Tipped arrows are arrows that imbue a potion effect when hitting a mob or player. The duration of the effect is 1 that of the corresponding potion, if applicable, and is not affected by the power of the arrow. The status effect is the same as the regular power effect for the potion. If a bow is enchanted with Infinity, tipped arrows are still consumed.

The types of arrows are:

<div class="list-style-none" style="-moz-column-width:19em;-webkit-column-width:19em;column-width:19em">
*
*

*
*
*
</div>

Arrows of Harming (and arrows of Healing when used against undead mobs) do not add a static amount of damage to the arrow. Instead, the arrow's damage is first calculated, then checked to see if it is below 12. If the arrow's damage is less than 12, the Harming effect of the arrow makes up the difference, to ensure the arrow does exactly 12. Therefore, an unenchanted bow cannot deal more than 12 damage using Harming (or Healing) arrows, as it can deal a maximum of 11 damage on level ground. However, if the arrow would deal more than 12 damage, the harming effect is entirely neutralized. This means that bows enchanted with Power I through Power III has a chance to not utilize the arrow at full charge, and any Power level above III never utilizes Arrows of Harming effectively at full charge when against unarmored mobs/players.

No-effect tipped arrows
It is possible to craft tipped arrows using Lingering Water Bottles as well as Awkward, Thick, and Mundane Lingering potions. If crafted with a water bottle, the arrow is called an arrow of Splashing. If crafted with Mundane, Awkward, or Thick potions, it is called a tipped arrow. Tipped arrows crafted from different potions do not stack, as resultant tipped arrows all have different potion tags.

In Bedrock Edition, all four kinds as well as the long mundane tipped arrow aren't obtainable either in creative, by cauldrons, by crafting, or by commands.

All four kinds generate blue particles in flight and upon landing, but otherwise behave like regular arrows. In particular, arrow of Splashing has no effect on fire and campfires and when shot from a bow with the Flame enchantment, can light campfires and TNT just like regular arrows on fire.

Uncraftable tipped arrows
java, the uncraftable tipped arrow is a tipped arrow with no effect that is unobtainable in regular gameplay. It is available in two variants that don't stack together:

* {{cmd|/give @s minecraft:tipped_arrow{Potion:"minecraft:empty"} }} - arrow assigned an effect placeholder "empty"
* /give @s minecraft:tipped_arrow  - arrow not assigned any effect.

The uncraftable arrow doesn't differ from regular arrows in behavior when used as a projectile.

Spectral arrows
java
A spectral arrow confers the Glowing status effect for 10 seconds. The Glowing effect creates an outline of the target, which is visible through blocks, and colored based on the target's team (white by default). Even if a bow is enchanted with Infinity, spectral arrows are still consumed. Spectral arrows can be acquired through bartering or crafted by combining 4 glowstone dust with one arrow, yielding 2 spectral arrows.

Trivia
* By default, arrows fly slightly offset to the right. If the player stands close to a wall and fires several arrows without moving the crosshair, the arrows cluster around a point slightly to the right of the crosshair. If the player switches their main hand to be the left hand in options, the arrows instead cluster to the left.
* Arrows fired at Nether Portals often skip through the portal block completely and fail to collide, thus continuing through to the opposite side of the block.
* Arrows stuck in blocks vibrate upon a world reload.
* Although endermen teleport when hit by any tipped arrow, they are still given the said effects while avoiding arrow damage.
* bedrock, even if a tipped arrow is blocked with a shield, while the direct damage from the arrows is negated, the player still gets the effect from the tipped arrow.

Raw cod is a food item that can be eaten by the player or cooked to make cooked cod.

Obtaining
Mob loot
Cod
Cod always drops 1 raw cod when killed, unaffected by Looting. If it is killed while on fire, it drops 1 cooked cod instead.

Dolphins
When killed, dolphins drop 0–1 raw cod. The maximum amount is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-4 with Looting III. If killed while on fire, they drop cooked cod instead.

Guardians and elder guardians
Guardians and elder guardians have a 40% and 50% chance, respectively, to drop raw cod when killed. java, cooked cod is dropped if a guardian is on fire when killed.

Guardians and elder guardians also have a 2.5% chance to drop a random fish, with 60% of them being raw cod, which drops as cooked if the guardian was on fire. The chance of getting the fish drop is increased by 1% per level with Looting (for a maximum of 5.5% with Looting III), but the type of fish is not affected.

Polar bears
Polar bears have a 75% chance of dropping 0–2 raw cod when killed. The maximum amount can be increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-5 with Looting III. If killed while on fire, they drop cooked cod instead.

Fishing
Fishing

Raw cod can be obtained from fishing. The wait time of one being caught is decreased with the Lure enchantment and the chance of one being caught is slightly decreased with the Luck of the Sea enchantment (named as such because it increases treasure, not fish).

Catching cod awards 1-6 experience.

Natural generation
javaraw-cod

Villager gifts
java, fisherman villager<nowiki/>s throw raw cod at players under the Hero of the Village effect.

Usage
Smelting ingredient
Food
Raw cod restores 2 hunger and 0.4 saturation.

Cats
Raw cod can be used to tame cats with 1 chance of success, get cats off of chests, and beds, breed cats, and make baby cats grow up faster by 10% of the remaining time. Additionally, raw cod can be used to heal cats by .

Raw cod can be used to gain ocelot trust, breed ocelots, and make baby ocelots grow up by 10%.

Dolphins
Dolphins can be fed raw cod. Doing this improves their trust and interaction with the player. However, unlike most animals, feeding dolphins does not allow them to breed.

When a player feeds raw cod to a dolphin, it swims toward the nearest chest in an underwater ruins or shipwreck. If the chest in the nearest structure is broken, they swim to the next nearest structure that has a chest.

Trading
Fisherman villagers have 50% chance to sell 6 cooked cod for 6 raw cod and 1 emerald as part of their first tier trade.

Apprentice-level fisherman villagers have a 2 chance to buy 15 raw cod for an emerald in Java Edition, and always offer the same trade in Bedrock Edition.

Wolves
bedrock, raw cod can be used to feed wolves, to heal them by . However, unlike other meat items, raw cod cannot be used to speed up the growth of baby wolves nor used to breed them, thus making it only feedable when wolves are not at full health.

A carrot is a food item obtained from carrot crops that can be used to plant them, eaten or used as a crafting ingredient.

Carrot crops are planted in farmland and used to grow carrots.

Obtaining
Breaking
Fortune#Seeds
Fully grown carrot crops drop 2 to 5 carrots (3 per crop harvested on average). Yield can be increased using a tool enchanted with Fortune, with Fortune III harvesting an average of 5 carrots.

The yield is calculated by a binomial distribution: 2 drops are fixed, then a drop is attempted three times with a success rate of 57.14286% to yield the extra 0–3 drops. Each level of Fortune enchantment increases the number of attempts by one.

Natural generation
Village farm plots have a chance of having carrots. The exact chance depends on the style of the village:

Village style !! Chance
plains-village Plains || 30%
snowy-village Snowy || 10%

Mob loot
Zombies, husks, and zombie villagers have a 2.5% (1) chance of dropping either an iron ingot, carrot, or potato when killed by a player or tamed wolf. This is increased by 1% (1) per level of looting. This gives carrots the following chances of dropping:
* 1 (about 0.83%)
* 7 (about 1.17%) with Looting I
* 9 (about 1.50%) with Looting II
* 11 (about 1.83%) with Looting III

Chest loot
carrot

Usage
To eat a carrot, press and hold use while the carrot is selected in the hotbar. Eating a carrot restores 3 hunger and 3.6 hunger saturation.

Farming
Carrots can be farmed and harvested on farmland. Planted carrots take 8 stages to grow, and go through 4 visually distinct stages. Planted carrots require a light level of 9 or greater to continue growing. If the light level is 7 or below, the crops instantly un-plant themselves ("pop off"). It is not possible to plant carrots if the light level is too low.

Crops grow faster if the farmland they are planted in is hydrated. Using bone meal on crops also increases the speed of growth by randomly increasing their growth stage by 2 to 5.

Crops break if pushed by a piston or if their supporting farmland breaks or turns to dirt (i.e. by being trampled), dropping their usual drops.

If gamerule mobGriefing is <code>true</code>, rabbits will find mature carrot cropsje / carrot crops with growth stage greater than 1be. This reduces the growth stages by one, removing the crop completely when the growth stage reaches 0.

Breeding
Carrots can also be used to breed and attract pigs and rabbits.

Villagers can pick up carrot items to become willing, which allow them to breed. Villagers require 12 carrots to become willing.

Trading
Novice-level Farmer villagers have a 25% (1)bedrock or 40% (2)java chance to buy 22 carrots for an emerald.

Crafting ingredient
crafting usage

Composting
Placing a carrot into a composter has a 65% chance of raising the compost level by 1.

Trivia

  • The concept for the warden was originally planned for the Nether Update as a "blind piglin that could only respond to sounds" that could be found within a "new biome."[10]
  • Some previous names being considered for the warden were the shade, the stalker, and the hollowed.[11][12]
    • The stalker iteration was tall and asymmetrical with a glowing core (sometimes referred to as a chest crystal[13]). It occurred in totems throughout the deep dark. The stalker would stand completely still to trick players into taking its core and aggravating it, and could transform into a form one block high form to prevent players from escaping through small tunnels. This iteration, specifically its appearance and transformation mechanic, felt clunky and was more goofy than scary, so it was scrapped by the Mojang developers.[14]
    • The hollowed was designed with the intent of inciting trypophobia and had white flesh with holes in it. The developers deemed that iteration too gory and had to be toned down.[15]
  • In the sixth episode of The Secrets of Minecraft, it was jokingly revealed that the warden's personal name is "William", similar to how the ender dragon, the wither, and player characters all have personal joke names. The word was also jokingly broken down into the words: war and den.[12]
  • Brandon Pearce stated in a tweet that the souls in the warden's chest is incredibly important to its lore.[16]
    • He also stated that the warden is inspired by the "monster" heard at the end of the music disc "11".[17]
  • Coincidentally, in the spin-off game, Minecraft: Story Mode, there is an unrelated character also named The Warden.
  • Although the warden is supposed to be blind, spectating it reveals that it still has normal vision.
