Wardens are a planned addition in the Caves & Cliffs update. They are the first blind mob in Minecraft and spawn in the Deep Dark biome. They move based on vibrations sensed through their ears in the surrounding environment. Projectiles, player footsteps, and more can alert Wardens about their environment and cause them to investigate. Sneaking will not trigger vibrations.

Appearance

The Warden is about 3.5 blocks tall, compared to the iron golem at 3. It is made of skulk and a bone like material, with ears like the top of the Sculk Sensor.

Spawning

The warden spawns in the Deep Dark Caves biome. It can also be spawned using spawn eggs or using commands.

Behavior

The Warden is a hostile mob that is blind. It instead uses vibrations to locate other entities. If the player sneaks, they can avoid alerting the Warden to their presence. The Warden can be distracted by throwing snowballs or shooting projectiles. If the player steps onto any kind of Sculk Block, the Warden will charge at the player and attack.

It is supposed to do a lot of damage (30♥ × 15 hearts). It is about 3.5 blocks tall allowing it to counter the the strategy of building up 3 blocks high.

A brief dimming of light may alert the player of the presence of a Warden.

It can detect invisible entities.

When the Warden has been attacked for long enough, it will target the attacker and ignore distractions.

Trivia
