Vindicators are hostile mobs, and one of the two illagers, the other being the evoker.

Spawning

Through natural generation

Vindicators spawn inside naturally generated woodland mansions in groups of 2–3, alongside evokers and other hostile mobs.

Some rooms in the mansions are forced to spawn 1–2 vindicators.

Drops

Vindicators only drop loot on player kills. They will drop 0–1 emeralds, with the maximum increasing by 1 for every level of Looting.

Behavior

Vindication

A vindicator chasing a villager.

Vindicators are hostile towards players and villagers. They will try to attack them, raising their main hand and wielding an iron axe. When in pursuit of their target they will sprint toward them. When not attacking, they don't show the axe in their hand.

If a vindicator is named Johnny or has its Johnny tag set to 1b, it will be hostile to any kind of mob, except for evokers and other vindicators. The tag overrides the name, so you can give a vindicator any other name and set the Johnny tag to 1b and it will still be hostile in the same way as described. Conversely, you can name the vindicator Johnny and set the Johnny tag to 0b, and the vindicator will not be hostile as described, it will act as a normal vindicator.

Data values

See also: Chunk format

Vindicators have entity data associated with them that contain various properties of the mob. Their entity ID is vindication_illager.

  • Entity data
    • Tags common to all entities
    • Tags common to all mobs
    • Tags common to all mobs spawnable in raids
    •  Johnny: 1 or 0 (true/false) - if true, causes the vindicator to exhibit Johnny behavior. Setting to false prevents the vindicator exhibiting Johnny behavior, even if named Johnny. Optional.

A flower pot is a decorative block that can contain flowers, bamboo, saplings, cacti, mushrooms, fungi, and other reasonably small plants.

Obtaining
Natural generation
Flower pots naturally generate in witch huts where they contain a red mushroom, the basement of igloos where they contain a cactus, and in woodland mansions, where they contain birch saplings, dark oak saplings, dandelions, poppies, blue orchids, alliums, azure bluets, red and white tulips, and oxeye daisies.

Flower pots containing a dandelion can be found in some plains and savanna village houses. Flower pots containing a cactus or a dead bush can be found in some desert village houses. Flower pots containing a spruce sapling can be found in taiga village mason houses. Flower pots containing a poppy can be found in taiga village churches.

Breaking
Flower pots can be mined instantly using any tool or without a tool.

A flower pot drops itself as an item (any plant or mushroom in it separately) when pushed by a piston or washed away with water.

Lava can flow into the space of a flower pot, destroying it.

Usage
A flower pot can be used to hold mushrooms, fungi, and various plants. Plants that can be placed in a pot include any one block high flowers, saplings, ferns, dead bushes, cacti, bamboo, azaleas, mangrove propagule, and roots.

Plants can be removed by using the interact button.

je, flower pots can be placed on any block, or over air.

be, they must be placed on top of a full-block top surface, or the top of a fence, stone wall, or hopper. They cannot be placed on slabs and stairs unless those blocks are upside-down. Pots may also be placed on an upward facing trapdoor. If the trapdoor is opened, the pot will break.

Flower pots are 3 of a block high and can be stepped on. It is not possible to walk from the top of a flower pot onto a full sized block without jumping. It is possible to jump from a flower pot onto a fence.

The plant or fungus can be removed from the flower pot by pressing the use control. This places the item directly back into the player's inventory.

They can be used to display cacti and wither roses without inheriting their damaging properties.

Potted warped fungus can be used to repel hoglins.

Trivia
* The flower pot is based on a suggestion from Reddit, like ender chests and item frames.
* Flower pots break falling blocks.
* If a plant that has been named is put in a flower pot, the plant loses its name.
* The inside of the flower pot in Java Edition uses the center 4x4 pixels of the dirt texture while Bedrock Edition uses the center 6x6.

16w39aVindicators added.
16w40a"Johnny" vindicators are now activated by a custom tag in addition to a custom name.
Their axe is now one of their HandItems, whereas before it was purely a visual effect. This means their attack now disables Shields.
Vindicators have been heavily buffed - their attack damage on Easy has been increased from 3♥♥ to 7♥♥♥♥, on Normal 5♥♥♥ to 13♥ × 6.5, and on Hard, 7♥♥♥♥ to 19♥ × 9.5.

Trivia

  • "Johnny" Vindicator is a reference to the famous quote from movie "Shining" where the character broke through the doors with axe saying "It's Johnny!"
