Spanish wiki with problems? Yes again :D
Wynthyst Hello, sorry for the inconvenience, but Ultradude25 told me to contact you with someone of curse to help me. We have a problem in our wiki: The search box never updates, I mean that it's different to this wiki. We tried to solve the problem but we couldn't, so we decided to ask your help. Please help us! And sorry for my bad English level, I'm still learning. And, as say Kingpowl down, Happy new year :D ReyWar 16:20, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
Happy New Year!
Have a very nice year, Wyn :D
Enjoy! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 20:41, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
server error
The server error on the Chinese wiki is getting a little bit ridiculous, there is about 1 page per day that would display the server error "The database could not found the page." and I have to delete and recover the page. Please help us fix the issue. Also, a minor request, could the mediawiki setting $wgStringFunctionsLimitSearch and $wgStringFunctionsLimitReplace be set a little bit higher, because it limits the #replace function not able to replace the string "splash potion of fire resistance" and replacing characters would cause the default 30 multibyte characters to be used up very quickly, so it would nice for the #replace function to do more on the Chinese wiki.—Powup333 ZH Admin 00:20, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- In the Spanish Wiki have an error exactly like yours "The database could not found the page.", and the truth is that it is quite annoying. Surely there are other wikis with the same problem. ReyWar 09:22, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Content license
At the bottom of most pages are two notices about under what license the content of the wiki is available: a text link on the left, and an image on the right. The image on the right leads to a Creative Commons license, which (among other things) contains "You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor..." The text on the left simply leads to the wiki's main page which doesn't seem to explain the notations used in the link or have any further information.
- Is there a page on the wiki which explains how those who copy content should attribute it? (possibly mentioning that some content on the site is copyright by Mojang AB used under fair use and thus might not be legal to be copied for use which is not fair use?)
- Can the text link be made more useful? (or something else?)

- Thank you for pointing it out. Minecraft Wiki:Copyrights -- Wynthyst

- Munin was also pointing out that the CC license used in MediaWiki:Copyright is currently linked to Minecraft Wiki; I think $wgRightsPage needs to be updated to point to Minecraft Wiki:Copyrights. -- Orthotope 10:11, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
- I know that, but since, as you know that is done in the core php config, I can't personally do anything about it, other than request it be corrected by our php team, which I have, and it will be as soon as it comes up on their job queue. As a relatively low priority request, it will be bumped lower in the queue by anything more important. Basically, it will happen when it happens...... -- Wynthyst

Wiki copying pages, templates and images
This wiki is quite clearly copying content from us, and I don't see any kind of attribution. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

- I need exact links to duplicated pages, and regardless of attribution, they use an incompatible license to ours, so any duplication is prohibited. But I can't request takedown unless it's an exact duplication. -- Wynthyst

- It's difficult to find full pages that are exactly the same as ours, since their pages are pretty out of date, however you can see some sections of pages that are very similar to ours. The templates and images are the most obvious.

- There are actually two english wikis of Minecraft. This is the second: click ... And there are some spanish wikis (and personally it annoys me), but that's not important because they aren't copying from here (I think...) Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 19:16, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
- I will discuss the situation with my boss. I do appreciate your diligence, but I also want to remind you that competition in itself is not a bad thing, and quite honestly, there is no Minecraft site out there that is touching us in any meaningful way. In this case, we are the leviathan, and Wikia is the plankton. Our communities (every language) have done an absolutely spectacular job of creating and maintaining the very best for Minecraft fans worldwide. -- Wynthyst

- Competition isn't really my concern, its the fact that people are wasting their time editing that wiki, when their efforts would be better spent here; as well as people stumbling upon that wiki for information, and finding a bunch of outdated pages. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

- That's exactly what I think! They're wasting their time editing other wikis... But well, that's not my problem. And thank you for your response, Wyn! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 14:43, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
Minecraft Wiki namespace aliases
Could we get some namespace aliases for the Minecraft Wiki namespace? I was thinking MCW → Minecraft Wiki and MCWT or MCT → Minecraft Wiki talk. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

- Not commenting on the request, but in case you didn't know, Ultradude, "Project" and "Project talk" work as alternatives for "Minecraft Wiki" and "Minecraft Wiki talk", respectively. ;) 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 11:18, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah I used that in the block/delete reasons, but it's still pretty long. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

New Logo
I know you initially rejected the logo introduced mid August 2012 by Quatroking because it was too big. Then you stated that perhaps it could come back to the main page - Quote: "If you can make it no larger than the current box (including the text that goes with it, then maybe".
Well seeing the logo has sat on the edit copy of the main page for five months or so, perhaps it could make a return?
(Also, the logo has sat unedited there for quite a while too, and it seems to fit the initial criteria. Goandgoo. Talk - Contribs 11:28, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Some problems
Hello, Wyn.
Two things:
1. The search bar... We have been investigating, and we don't need any information in Vector, the real problem is that the good search bar (the one that this wiki have) is not the default search bar.
This option: Enable simplified search bar (Vector skin only) (Preferences > Search) is marked for default here, but not in the Spanish wiki.
So... Can you set it to default? So all users will see this search bar always (unless they disable the option). Ultradude told us that we need to ask Curse for the search bar. But we think that that's not necessary. Well, this is the theory by an user that helps me in the wiki. I think we're not wrong.
2. The .ogg files doesn't play. Instead of the media player, it only shows a link to the file.
That's all! I'm sorry if anything is wrong (I'm Spanish, you know).
Thank yoooou! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 17:41, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Bureaucrat
Hello again!
I've been thinking... Can you make me bureaucrat in the Spanish Wiki?
It will be very useful for me.
For example:
- If I need another administrator to make the maintenance (more) easier, I would be able to promote him/her.
- If I need to give a bot its bot's rights, I would be able too.
The former spanish administrator, Pochi33, was a bureaucrat too.
(And I don't know why he left the project in October, 2011...)
So I think that, after (near) 6 months, I have earned your confidence haha.
That's all. Thank you! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 17:22, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- ... And sorry. Two messages in a row! That's mad, haha. --Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 17:23, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- I agree, Kingpowl is a good admin and I say this because I am a very active user of the Spanish wiki. Since he is, the articles are passed from <70 to 184 articles. ReyWar 17:40, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
