Wiki-Attacks
Wyn, please. This is crazy! You know what I mean. Turn it off, just for a few days. I'm afraid... -- Oliver Scholz de.Wiki Admin 02:51, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- No. -- Wynthyst

- You are so ignorant. I can't believe it. Live with the consequences. -- Oliver Scholz de.Wiki Admin 03:13, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Excuse me Oliver? You have had to undo 13 edits all day... the filters have caught the rest of them. Just who is being what? I have never treated you with anything other than respect, I seriously don't deserve that attitude from you. -- Wynthyst

- I've always treated you with respect. Even today. But some users asked me, if we can stop it. I try to do my job, at 5 am. -- Oliver Scholz de.Wiki Admin 03:33, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- edit conflictYou, sir, have no idea how wikis function. A simple look at Special:Recentchanges will tell you that the vast majority of IP contributions to this wiki are beneficial. Please at least make an attempt to make sure your ideas have even a shred of logic behind them before you post on someone's talkpage, especially if you're going to (rather ironically) call them ignorant. 129.2.129.227 03:36, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oliver, maybe due to the language difference, you don't understand that calling someone ignorant is a pretty disrespectful thing to say. You want me to turn off Anonymous editing because in the past 22hrs, you or your community have had to undo 13 edits. What about the anonymous edits you haven't had to undo? Your wiki is better because of their spelling corrections, additions, etc. but you don't want them to be able to do that because you guys had to undo 13 edits. The only way to attract new additions to your community is to be open to them, not afraid of them. Every wiki in the world has to deal with the bot attacks. The Dutch wiki is experiencing the same issue as you are. Any given week, 2-5 of the Curse wikis are under attack by bots, we just deal with it. The Terraria Wiki has been under attack almost since the day it was launched. -- Wynthyst

- yea, thanks. You understand it. But i'am at work now, more in 9 hours. -- Oliver Scholz de.Wiki Admin 04:43, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Ok now my detailed reply. When I woke up this morning, I looked at my phone. I saw some bad anonymous editing . I started my PC and reversed it. I was awake ten minutes and it was half past four in the morning. Because I was afraid it would be still more such changes occur, I asked you to turn it off for a short time. Your "No" was bad for me. That's why I wrote my second comment. Please excuse any insult, it was early in the day. And 129.2.129.227: Thank you for your comment, but the issue is not new for Wyn and me. -- Oliver Scholz de.Wiki Admin 14:17, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Syntax highlight extension?
Hey Wyn, is there any possibility we could get Extension:SyntaxHightlight GeSHi installed here? Having syntax highlighting makes working with user CSS and JS (not to mention the global files) soooo much easier. Thanks! =D 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:33, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

- I've been debating this since you posted, and am not really sure I see a big benefit for the wiki in general with this request. It would potentially benefit a very small portion of the community, and unless you are planning some grand js project to add some new and amazing functionality (that is still easy for the average user to use) I'm not sure it's really necessary. The site itself has little css, since it utilizes the very soul of the default vector skin. You know I'm not one to usually say no to a community request, and I'm willing to reconsider it, if you can point me to a discussion that demonstrates the need, and the wish of more than just yourself. Another point to mention, the vast majority of the Curse staff is at Blizzcon through this coming weekend, so I'm not sure how quickly it would be depoloyed anyway... Why don't you start a discussion on the CP and see if there is other interest in it. Give it a week for comment, and by then everyone will be back in their offices. -- Wynthyst

- Cool to hear. I might start a discussion after I get up some time; I'll have to see how RL plays out for me. =) 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:21, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Considering it'd probably only be you and me that'd really need syntax highlighting, I would think that it would be more appropriate for us to do it through userjs, however I have yet to find a syntax highlighter that works on mediawiki. The one I have right now requrires code to be in <pre><code>, instead of just <pre> on its own. I don't know if you can either modify the script to not need the code tags, or if the mediawiki css/js pages can be modified to have the code tags in as well. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 09:40, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Categorization Project
Hey, I've recently gotten interested in helping out this wiki, but so far I've only really done small things, like fixing redirects and such. I've noticed the Categorization project has lain dormant for quite a while, and was wondering if I would have permission to take up the task of implementing the new category tree into the wiki, or if that is too large of a change for someone like me to do. - No need to ask permission, go for it :D -- Wynthyst

- Alright, well, quick question. For things such as blocks, should they be under the Blocks category plus what category they fall under, or just the latter? File:Redstone (Dust).png Eearslya File:Redstone (Dust).png ( talk | contribs ) 23:39, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- They can be in as many categories as they fit into appropriately :D The whole purpose of categorization is to make it easier for people to find "like" things. -- Wynthyst

- And how about categories? Can they be given multiple parents? For instance, Crafting items could be put under Crafting and Items, arguably. File:Redstone (Dust).png Eearslya File:Redstone (Dust).png ( talk | contribs ) 00:10, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
