server error[edit]

The server error on the Chinese wiki is getting a little bit ridiculous, there is about 1 page per day that would display the server error "The database could not found the page." and I have to delete and recover the page. Please help us fix the issue. Also, a minor request, could the mediawiki setting $wgStringFunctionsLimitSearch and $wgStringFunctionsLimitReplace be set a little bit higher, because it limits the #replace function not able to replace the string "splash potion of fire resistance" and replacing characters would cause the default 30 multibyte characters to be used up very quickly, so it would nice for the #replace function to do more on the Chinese wiki.—Powup333 ZH Admin 00:20, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

In the Spanish Wiki have an error exactly like yours "The database could not found the page.", and the truth is that it is quite annoying. Surely there are other wikis with the same problem. ReyWar 09:22, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
As of right now, the only thing I can tell you is to delete the page and then restore all revisions. Our tech team has been unable to track down what is causing this to occur. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 16:15, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Content license[edit]

At the bottom of most pages are two notices about under what license the content of the wiki is available: a text link on the left, and an image on the right. The image on the right leads to a Creative Commons license, which (among other things) contains "You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor..." The text on the left simply leads to the wiki's main page which doesn't seem to explain the notations used in the link or have any further information.

 1. Is there a page on the wiki which explains how those who copy content should attribute it? (possibly mentioning that some content on the site is copyright by Mojang AB used under fair use and thus might not be legal to be copied for use which is not fair use?)
 2. Can the text link be made more useful? (or something else?)

Munin was also pointing out that the CC license used in MediaWiki:Copyright is currently linked to Minecraft Wiki; I think $wgRightsPage needs to be updated to point to Minecraft Wiki:Copyrights. -- Orthotope 10:11, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
I know that, but since, as you know that is done in the core php config, I can't personally do anything about it, other than request it be corrected by our php team, which I have, and it will be as soon as it comes up on their job queue. As a relatively low priority request, it will be bumped lower in the queue by anything more important. Basically, it will happen when it happens...... -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 14:41, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Wiki copying pages, templates and images[edit]

This wiki is quite clearly copying content from us, and I don't see any kind of attribution. ultradude25Talk
12:09, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

I need exact links to duplicated pages, and regardless of attribution, they use an incompatible license to ours, so any duplication is prohibited. But I can't request takedown unless it's an exact duplication. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 12:13, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
It's difficult to find full pages that are exactly the same as ours, since their pages are pretty out of date, however you can see some sections of pages that are very similar to ours. The templates and images are the most obvious. - Mojang AB - Template:Blocks - File:Chest.gif
02:45, 14 January 2013 (UTC) is copied directly from Mojang_AB&oldid=259462 , including our custom Twitter interwiki links and the hidden comment about Mollstam. - File:Template1.png (specifically this revision). - Template:Items - Technical Blocks - Redstone Circuits - Explosion - Melon Seeds
It's hard to find a page of any substantial length that didn't copy from us at some point. -- Orthotope 04:56, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
There are actually two english wikis of Minecraft. This is the second: click ... And there are some spanish wikis (and personally it annoys me), but that's not important because they aren't copying from here (I think...) Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 19:16, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
I will discuss the situation with my boss. I do appreciate your diligence, but I also want to remind you that competition in itself is not a bad thing, and quite honestly, there is no Minecraft site out there that is touching us in any meaningful way. In this case, we are the leviathan, and Wikia is the plankton. Our communities (every language) have done an absolutely spectacular job of creating and maintaining the very best for Minecraft fans worldwide. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 05:15, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
Competition isn't really my concern, its the fact that people are wasting their time editing that wiki, when their efforts would be better spent here; as well as people stumbling upon that wiki for information, and finding a bunch of outdated pages. ultradude25Talk
06:32, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
That's exactly what I think! They're wasting their time editing other wikis... But well, that's not my problem. And thank you for your response, Wyn! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 14:43, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
I am the admin "The Pathogen" from Our aim is not to feature the same content as this wiki, but to summarize pages in one form or another. I write the majority of the templates where I can, and we have a policy that forbids plagiarizing content from the Curse Wiki. Of course, we still have users that copy-paste info over, and it's our intent to both stop that, and remedy it by modifying the information used. The last thing we want to do is be a "copy" of the official wiki. (On a related note, It's a very similar situation with the non-official Terraria Wiki, of which I am a bureaucrat. There is less worry about originality in that case, though.) P4thogen 09:17, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
I appreciate your comments P4thogen, the problem is, you can't just "modify" a copy of what we have, it violates copyright. Obviously, Mojang owned images can be used by anyone, but any page that was at any point copy/pasted from here has to be deleted because even after being "modified" it is a derivation of a page that has a non-compatible license. So basically, any page that we can show was once identical to ours needs to be deleted, and you must start from scratch. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 16:11, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I know you initially rejected the logo introduced mid August 2012 by Quatroking because it was too big. Then you stated that perhaps it could come back to the main page - Quote: "If you can make it no larger than the current box (including the text that goes with it, then maybe".

Well seeing the logo has sat on the edit copy of the main page for five months or so, perhaps it could make a return?

(Also, the logo has sat unedited there for quite a while too, and it seems to fit the initial criteria. Goandgoo. Talk - Contribs 11:28, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Some problems[edit]

Hello, Wyn.
Two things:

1. The search bar... We have been investigating, and we don't need any information in Vector, the real problem is that the good search bar (the one that this wiki have) is not the default search bar. This option: Enable simplified search bar (Vector skin only) (Preferences > Search) is marked for default here, but not in the Spanish wiki.
So... Can you set it to default? So all users will see this search bar always (unless they disable the option). Ultradude told us that we need to ask Curse for the search bar. But we think that that's not necessary. Well, this is the theory by an user that helps me in the wiki. I think we're not wrong.

2. The .ogg files doesn't play. Instead of the media player, it only shows a link to the file.

That's all! I'm sorry if anything is wrong (I'm Spanish, you know).
Thank yoooou! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 17:41, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello again!

I've been thinking... Can you make me bureaucrat in the Spanish Wiki?
It will be very useful for me.

For example:

 • If I need another administrator to make the maintenance (more) easier, I would be able to promote him/her.
 • If I need to give a bot its bot's rights, I would be able too.

The former spanish administrator, Pochi33, was a bureaucrat too.
(And I don't know why he left the project in October, 2011...)

So I think that, after (near) 6 months, I have earned your confidence haha.

That's all. Thank you! Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 17:22, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Forced Preview on Russian section[edit]

Hello, Wynthyst. Since today, 1st of February, all attempts to save pages on Russian section lead to forced preview. Well, currently at least half of all anonymous edits are considered vandalism and reverted, so this feature should lower amount of rubbish edits and it's not bad at all, but isn't this expected to be only for non-confirmed users? At the moment even admins can't save page without seeing a preview. We ask to add forcepreviewexempt right to autoconfirmed users, administrators, bots, etc.
And could you also check technical requests on Directors page? Norrius - ru.Wiki Admin 18:26, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Image backend[edit]

Is there any chance we could have the English, German, and Dutch image backends separated? I don't see any benefit to having them combined, and it causes problems. There have been a number of cases where 'unused' files were deleted on one wiki, even though they're in use on another. Sometimes there are previous versions that can be reverted to (as in this case), but other images have been lost completely. -- Orthotope 01:49, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Currently we are working on plans to migrate all our wikis to the new hydra platform. I think this separation IF it's going to happen, it's going to happen then. I have to discuss it more with our php team. In the meantime, no, they will not be separated. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 05:10, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
What is the hydra platform? Will it bring any functionality to the wikis as visible from our end? (Unified login would be the obvious thing here ;) ) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 13:16, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Hydra is the wiki platform that has been developed by Curse's php team to run our wiki farm more efficiently. Yes, it includes a unified login as you have seen implemented on the Minecraft Forums, utilizing the user database and authorization protocols. You can see it at work on most of our new wikis that you can find on . The most noticeable features for users will be the fully functional netbar (already here in spirit) and the new Curse footer. Our team has developed (and continues to develop) this platform primarily to improve the efficiency of backend functions, and to ease the time demands for major projects like MediaWiki upgrades. You will have noticed that MCW is still running on v1.18.x while our newer wikis are all utilizing v1.19.3. With Hydra, our IT Team can upgrade all wikis on the platform simultaneously to new versions, as opposed to having to upgrade each wiki individually, a process that took as long as 3 months to complete previously. It has also allowed us to streamline and standardize our wiki installations, making it much easier to install standard extensions, change usergroup permission settings, and various other backend configurations as requested by the various communities. In the upcoming months, we will be migrating our existing wikis to this platform, a massive undertaking that our team has anticipated will take the better part of this year. I hope that answers your questions, if not, email me, and I will see if I can do better. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 16:02, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Nope, that about covers it; thanks for the detailed response. =)
One question I do have, though, is how the techs plan to handle account name conflicts, especially in the event both accounts are well-established and active (I don't think this would personally affect me, so it's really more a curiosity thing based on me remembering the WMF's own rollout of a global/unified login system ;) )? ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:10, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
They are working on those details currently. As it stands currently, the account names are first come first serve in the database. In any process like this, there are going to be unhappy people who are going to have to change their usernames on the wiki, but the first time you log on after migration, you get to link your old contributions, etc to your new account. Like I said, the migration process is not going to be a speedy one, and MCW will probably be amongst the last wikis to migrate. There will be more detailed instructions coming when it's actually time to migrate. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 22:54, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

The Grid template takes whatever text you give it (e.g., "Lana Nera") and tries to use a specifically-named file ("File:Grid Lana Nera.png"). Creating a redirect from 'File:Grid Lana Nera.png' to 'File:Grid Black Wool.png' should fix it. (Of course, you'll have to do this will all the grid images.) Moving the file is theoretically an option, but could break any other wikis that happen to use the same image backend. -- Orthotope 06:42, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Portuguese Wiki[edit]

Hi Wyn, as you know, the Portuguese wiki is completely abandoned and without any administrator. For the same reason I propose the user Ruansvrn324, he is a brazilian guy, currently the only one that helps in the wiki. I think it would be a great administrator. If he it were admin, could solve hundreds of problems that exist in this wiki.

Besides that, I wanted to comment on the name of the Portuguese wiki and their respective interwiki. "Português do Brasil/Brazilian Portuguese" is the same as saying "American English, British English, Peninsular Spanish, Mexican Spanish etc". Brazilian Portuguese is a dialect not a language, then it should be called "Português wiki/Portuguese wiki". That's all, Greetings. ReyWar 23:11, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately, we have no control over the way the languages are displayed. It's based on the ISO 639 list of language codes. This is a built in feature of MediaWiki and is really impossible to change. As for an administrator, if Ruansvrn324 is interested he needs to simply come ask. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 02:27, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
Not exactly related, but I noticed as a direct result of this conversation, which seemed as good a place as any to report it: currently, pt and pt-br both redirect to the French wiki; it would make much more sense to have them pointing at the Portuguese wiki instead. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:08, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
I'm honestly confused about what you said, Wynthyst. In that ISO 639 table you linked, "Brazilian Portuguese", "Brazilian", and even "pt-br", is not mentioned, and if we're following that list, is incorrect. "br" is actually Breton while Portuguese should be "pt". I agree with ReyWar that it should be the "Portuguese wiki".
Also, about redirects from what Dinoguy1000 mentioned, the Minecraft Wiki:Projects/Portuguese translation page is a redirect to Crafting/pt, and it should have what Minecraft Wiki:Projects/PTBR Translation has. Kanegasi C 05:34, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
The language code list that's built into Media Wiki requires that Brazilian Portuguese be designated with a pt-br in the interwiki table to display properly under "Other Languages" in the left nav, I'm just making a mess of explaining it. The Brazilian Portuguese translation of Minecraft Wiki was done SPECIFICALLY by the Brazilian Portuguese community and Brazilian Portuguese is NOT the same as Portuguese (in fact they got very offended when I suggested that it just be the Portuguese Wiki while they were translating it). I am not sure why those other domains redirect to the French wiki, but thank you for pointing it out, I will get it corrected as soon as possible. I will also see about getting the url for the Brazilian Portuguese wiki fixed at the same time.
There is a separate project that was started for a Portuguese translation, thus the Crafting/pt and Minecraft Wiki:Projects/Portuguese translation. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 09:17, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
I'll take your word about the way MediaWiki works, I think I understand it. As for the offended part, I find that quite amusing, especially taking into account that ReyWar compared English "dialects" to this. It's not exactly an offended reaction, but what you get when an American complains about British spelling and vice-versa is pretty similar. Thanks for the insight, both Wynthyst and ReyWar, since I was not aware they were different. Kanegasi C 09:29, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
I don't know if ReyWar was part of the original translating community, or if he's Brazilian, or Portuguese, or if there are any original transltors left at all, All I can tell you is that at that time, when I suggested we just do a Portuguese translation they were, like I said... offended. I don't know how much experience you have with Brazilian gaming communities, but they can get quite territorial. I do know that the url for the Portuguese wiki was due to our (the Curse team's) general inexperience with dealing with multilingual wikis, we've mostly made it up as we've gone along, trying to find the best way to make our wikis available to as many people as possible within our network structure. Like our wikis, we are a wip :D -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 10:41, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
I am from Argentina xD. A Brazilian be offended by wanting to join the Portuguese project it is so absurd, it must have been ignorant. In wikipedia use Portuguese wiki not Angolan Portuguese wiki or Brazilian Portuguese wiki. They may be territorial but that happens in all wikis with their respective dialects, in all wikis are able to resolve disputes over the dialect, and in that wiki should not be the exception. ReyWar 12:31, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
I believe the redirect for the 2 Portuguese domains will now take you to the Portuguese wiki, not the French one :D -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 15:01, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
"pt" takes you to the Portuguese wiki now, as it should, but "pt-br" now instead points to the English wiki, which I suppose is a bit more reasonable than pointing to the French wiki (since the English wiki is the main one), but it would still be better having it point to the Portuguese wiki instead. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:42, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Greek Translation... I think I screwed up...[edit]

Translated some of the text from English to Greek adding the "This page belongs to the Greek Translation Project" but I think I replaced the original one.

What do I do? I am afraid I did something really bad...

Also how do I translate it to Greek without screwing up everything?

No worries, I copied what you had done to the Greek page Tutorials/gre, and undid all your translations on the English page. Now just continue your translations on the greek page. To translate other pages, the easiest way is to simply copy the English page and then create a new subpage by adding /gre to the page title. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 14:51, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Re:Curse Promotion[edit]

Wyn, I really do appreciate Curse stepping into the chaos of the Minecraft community and doing so many great things to help us out. But I think some of the changes recently have shamelessly promoted Curse products. Advertising is one thing, but adding elements and pages that are completely Curse-biased do MCWiki a disservice. Examples include the page "Author rewards program" and the Curse client being promoted on the Snapshots page. Could you get rid of some of these additions/edits, or at least allow the community to try and present the information in an encyclopedic manner by unblocking them? Chilangosta 17:50, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

I appreciate what you are saying; however, Curse is the owner of this site, and Curse is a business. Using our properties to cross link and promote each other is simply a good business decision, while causing little harm to the communities, if not adding benefits. The Main page banner for the Author rewards program is temporary, and will be gone by the end of this week; however, since the program is ongoing, the page will stay. It's really no different than having a page for a mod, or a link to a mod, and the wiki does that ALL the time. To discriminate against Curse for it is a bit hypocritical don't you think? It would be a totally different situation if the items being promoted were not related to Minecraft, but in these instances they are directly related, and pertinent for the community. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 17:58, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
The elements and pages are related, that's not the issue; the pages read like they're advertisements though, and discredit the wiki. Could they maybe be written in encyclopedic fashion? And can we help edit them? I'm looking specifically at the plugs for the Curse client on the texture pack page and the snapshots page, and also the whole Author rewards program page - we like the content, minus the commercialization. Marketing is all about image, and I think the great Curse products stand on their own; the disservice comes when the articles stray from from the strictly informative nature of the wiki. Chilangosta 19:58, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
You can feel free to edit them with the conditions that they retain links to where they need to link to since that is their purpose. I personally am not a copywriter, have never made any claims to be. I posted what I was given by our marketing team, so yeah, they are going to read like advertisements. I also don't believe they "discredit" the wiki as they are, but if it's something you feel strongly about go for it. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 21:20, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

I and my friends tried to update the Hungarian wiki pages, but we run into a little problem while using the English wiki templates. It seems that the JS and css files on the Hungarian subdomain are a little outdated. Can you help us with the update or give us admin/bureaucrat rights. The current Hungarian staff seems to be inactive.

Is it possible to copy all of the English wiki templates over the Hungarian? It would be easier to translate all to Hungarian again than updating each templates one by one.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Harbonah 14:45, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

I have copied over the js and css you were missing. I have also imported a large portion of the templates from the English wiki. Once you've translated them all, I will give you more. I have also granted you admin rights on the Hungarian wiki, so you can delete pages that are unnecessary. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 19:47, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Congratulations! I've already put you on the directors page. Work hard and enjoy :D Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 20:26, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

how does someone become an admin? KomaSixx 12:46, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

Prove your wiki knowledge and commitment to Minecraft wiki by editing to improve it, assisting other users in editing to improve it, reverting vandalism, etc. Then you simply ask, and if the rest of the admin team agree that you would be a beneficial addition, you are given admin permissions. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 17:57, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
Just out of interest, where would you ask? t numbermaniac c 05:55, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Russian wiki image revert[edit]

Hello. The image revert tool on the Russian wiki does not work. Pressing the revert button on the image revert tool page returns you to the file page, but does not revert the file. Tested with images. Not a permission error, administrators are affected as well. -- 13:59, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

I will have this looked into (on Monday). -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 17:58, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
The image revert tool is not fixed yet. --GreenStone(cont) (ru.Wiki Admin) 17:07, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
Not yet. And Norrius reported it 4.5 months ago; I do not understand, why there is no information about progress at all? --GreenStone(cont) 10:01, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
Very strange. After a newly registered user (user name: Alexia, if that's important) uploaded an image and successfully reverted it. I tried to restore an old test image and revert, but it didn't work. Afterwards, I tried to revert the new image. It worked, but revisions were duplicated. (see here). Therefore, it seems that the issue is resolved partially. I am going to perform further tests. --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 19:44, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
e: My revert attempts did not work at all. What's wrong? --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 20:00, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
Alexia is a member of the Curse tech team. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 07:50, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

A file could only be reverted after changing its extension to uppercase (*.png → *.PNG). Lowercase extensions do not work. --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 09:02, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

I will bring it to them again... sorry guys. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 13:39, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
I do not believe your tech team is so overloaded that they could not fix it. The issue was posted in January, and the first time I have ever seen any results is in May. What's wrong? Please respond. --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 11:05, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
It is very common for people not involved with the internal affairs of a company or its employees to have this illusion that they have enough employees and/or time to accomplish seemingly simple tasks when in fact it is neither a simple task nor is there enough employees/time to accomplish it in a timely manner along with other projects. You reported the issue, you continue to follow the issue, but leave your misguided illusions to yourself. Kanegasi C 14:05, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
And how do you know, Kanegasi? --GreenStone (0x54; 0x43) 14:13, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
I don't know. I basically said it's a common misconception. It's one thing to report an issue and keep up with it, it's another to believe the issue is purposefully being ignored. Kanegasi C 14:54, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
It's common for the IT dept. to be understaffed in workplaces, Curse is no exception. Additionally, the IT staff are busy dealing with moving the wikis over to the new system, so I wouldn't be surprised if they ignored any non-critical issues until that is done. ultradude25Talk

Here's the deal guys... we have to move the images over to our CDN, and currently we don't have the bandwidth to do so. This is on our team's list of stuff to do and it will get done as soon as it is possible. I know that's not the answer you want, but it's all I've got. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 16:13, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Ok, after months of problems with this, I'm happy to report that it has been resolved. Please test it out and let me know if you continue to have problems. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 21:20, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Did Tesla get fired or something?[edit]

I noticed you wiped out her user/admin permissions, but I don't see anything on her page. Shakeup at Mojang? --Mental Mouse 19:51, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

I removed her rights in the Spanish wiki. I hope I didn't wrong. Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 20:18, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Hmm, now I'm worried... If anything it's wrong, please tell me. Kingpowl~ es.Wiki Admin (talk) 20:20, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
One of the other admins had a note to the effect that she's "no longer with Curse". –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Mental Mouse (Talk|Contribs) 20:42, 2 April 2013 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
That was me, and it was based on this section. I don't know anything more than either of you, and may actually have jumped the gun here. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:14, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
No, it's fine Dino, Tesla is no longer with Curse. Beyond that I can't say. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 01:54, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Okay. Obviously, Tesla's privacy in this matter should be respected; having confirmation that he's no longer with Curse is sufficient. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:09, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Problem with .svg files[edit]

Hey, As I already mentioned on Hower64's discuss page, there is a problem with .svg files. Would be nice if you can look in to this. Thanks. --Dyon 23:19, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

I thought we had resolved the svg issue. I will get it taken care of. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 01:07, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Email problem[edit]

Hello Wynthyst,

Why is it that when pages I am watching are deleted, the email I get says that it has been created? I don't get it. -- Numbermaniac - T - C 08:58, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

This is an underlying bug in MediaWiki that affects enotifs for basically all log actions; see mwbug:14901. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:26, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Did not know about that. (How do you know all this stuff?) I was about to ask why it didn't happened on Wikipedia, and then i saw it was fixed with 1.21. Anyway, thanks! -- Numbermaniac - T - C 08:27, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
No problem. I know about all this stuff because I used to be an editor on Wikipedia, and I've always kept a bit of an ear to the ground on the more technical side of things when it comes to MediaWiki. ;) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 09:49, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

certain abuse-filter in german wiki[edit]

I talk to you, because it seems that you'd created or activated a certain filter in the german minecraft wiki. Its the filter with the message "Nonsensical anon edits", that checks the existance of special characters like "[[", "{{" etc.
This filter is a great annoyance for anonymous user, with minor use. Its only a poor indicator for sense or nonsense. Please think about it, and then connect to german wiki admins. As they are very clever people, they will be convinced, that this filter is quite redundant. Thanks so far, Null Fahrenheit 18:50, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

It's filter 12. ChickenSig.png ILeonTalk

Spam Filter[edit]

Is there a way to add "ht(no space)tps://t(dot)co/" to the spam fliter whislist? its the small links system twitter uses. I have been running into a lot of problems lately. --007a83 (Talk|Contribs) 19:17, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

More info Here.--007a83 (Talk|Contribs) 19:19, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Just copy the full URL instead. There's no reason for the wiki to link to URL shorteners. -- Orthotope talk 19:52, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
"The link service at "ht(no space)tps://t(dot)co/" is only used on links posted on and is not available as a general shortening service on other apps or sites." According to Twitter, it's not available from other apps or sites regardless. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 01:14, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
They're talking about you not being able to use it as a service to shorten your links. If the links weren't accessible from anywhere but twitter, it'd break every link directly copied from a tweet, as well as any website using twitter's API to include tweets. ultradude25Talk
