Image permission
Hi Ultradude. I'd like to know if I can use your gold ore + iron pickaxe images for a T-shirt suggestion I'll be sending to ThinkGeek. Since this would indeed be commercial (for them at least) I'd like to have your permission first.
Glader 14:07, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- While you do indeed need Ultradude's permission to use his render of the Gold ore block, you actually need to get Mojang's permission for reuse of the Gold ore and Gold pickax textures. As I recall, Carl is the one you talk to for stuff like that; he can be reached at carl [at] mojang [dot] com. 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- Alright! I've sent an email to Mojang asking their permission as well, thanks for telling me. Still waiting for you to reply though, Ultradude25 =) Glader 06:30, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't feel I needed to, Dino got it spot on, and I misread it at first and thought you just wanted the flat sprite images.
- For the flat sprites, you can just take the images from the game files and up-scale them yourself, the renders however I'd first like more information on what you're using them for, and you'd also probably want higher res versions. I believe I can render up to 1000x1000px with anti-aliasing and 10,000x10,000px without. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 07:00, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm logged on to the IRC channel under the name Glader since I'd rather discuss the details of the design in private (don't want my idea to get ninja'd).
- It seems ThinkGeek don't accept design submissions from anyone outside of the U.S, but I'm talking with Mojang instead. Hopefully they'll want to print it. Anyway, drop me a line in IRC when you can and we'll talk. Glader 14:54, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Just got a reply from Mojang. Apparently their graphics team at Jinxed already have something similar in the works so it seems I won't be needing higher res versions after all :( Thanks anyway though. Glader 17:08, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, good to know. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 15:51, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

- well, you could upload the file you use as template (i bet you have a file with a set camera and lighting, where you just need to slap the textures on and save the render) – Flying sheep 14:07, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Rendering GIF isometric blocks to APNG?
Most of new browsers supports APNG format, though not sure does it work in wiki uploader though. Are you able to do render those animation blocks in APNG format if possible? Pros would be just better anti-aliasing and transparency and lossless format. Cons would be bigger size, and not completely supported by old browsers. (Though, what about SVG format additionally?) Tom.K 18:13, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Actually Firefox and Opera (and two others that I've never heard of, and are probably not mainstream browsers) are the only browsers that supports APNG. Chrome can support APNG with an addon, but we can't really expect everyone to have that installed. There's really no benefit to the wiki to use APNG over GIF, as the images are always used on a white background, so the anti-aliasing looks identical to PNG. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 22:49, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Undoing previous revisions
I've seen you (or some people) revert versions of pages that are not the latest (e.g. someone makes an edit (A), another makes another edit (B), and someone reverts A while keeping B), and I can't do that "due to conflicting intermediate revisions". Cool12309(T|C) 23:40, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- You can only do that if B doesn't edit anything that A does (thus the conflicting revisions). You can also go into view history, go to a revision and hit edit, then save the page. That'll take the page back to how it was when after that revision was made, which is good for when someone does some spam, but you either don't have access to rollback, or someone else has edited since, so rollback wouldn't work. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 01:07, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- More generally, undoing old revisions only works if none of the more recent edits change the same section(s) of the page that the old edit changes (so, for instance, if a page doesn't have any sections - even if it's a very long page, and the newer edits don't come close to touching the old edit - you won't be able to undo any old edits with the "Undo" link). If you have the time to do so, and the undo link won't work because of this, it's generally better to manually undo the edit than just roll back the whole page to a revision prior to it. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 19:18, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

invimage in {{Block}}
Do you know why the invimage in the Block infobox are 1px too low? I tried editing the span top value, it works on my test page, but not on the real template… – Scaler (t) 19:56, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
- It appears to be a bug the way the page renders certain elements, the list item in particular (I don't know if you've noticed, but the alignment for text gets thrown out 1px by list items as well, but you'd never notice it unless you saw a side-by-side comparison). First I thought it was to do with >1 em values, but after changing it to 1px it's still being pushed off. On some pages the invimage will look correct until you edit the page, and on others it's the opposite way. It appears Chrome is the only one not affected, and is actually displaying it correctly (which ends up 1px too high because you changed the values). It seems the original method of div tables was stopping this happen (I guess it isolates it?), but this brings me back to the original problem. Since these are meant to be a replacment for normal images, they need to act like them, and be able to be included anywhere and an image would be able to. But if you're using div, div tables or normal tables then you can't have anything next to it without using float, which is rather messy and often doesn't seem to work properly and the text aligns to the top of the "image", instead of the centre. It seems it has to be within the div to actually listen to the vertical-alignment style.
- I really don't know what to do about it. I thought I'd come up with a brilliant solution using span instead of div, but it seems it just fixed one problem and introduced another one, that's much less predictable. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 21:44, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Disagreement about Development versions in VH
Hey, seeing as you have already made your verdict on whether we put the Publicly released development versions on the version history or not, I'd like for you to read my argument on why I think that these logs should be not deleted off of VH, but moved to a new page. Also, remember that you've probably seen how cluttered the version history page is, and remember that this will help a bit de-cluttering it now and in the future, as these public release builds look like they are going to be something to stay. Talk:Version_history#1.8_Leak UGoBoom 00:24, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't make a final verdict, I uncommented them due to 1.8 being added to the version template, thus being put on the main page, so we needed a temporary solution to show the changes in the version. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 02:05, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I understand a bit better of the intentions of what was going on. Since I'm in no expertise position to successfully make a new page, that being if that is even the verdict or not, so I'll start cleaning and organizing some other things on the page. UGoBoom 22:20, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Moving pages
I am trying to move Huge Mushroom to Huge Mushrooms to match Mushrooms page, (I now realize Huge Mushrooms is already a page, so I can't) but I cannot seem to find the same edit button as is shown here. I looked in my preferences and changed around a few things to no avail. Is moving pages not possible for lowly users like me, or am I just missing something? Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 15:42, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- That "edit" button is wikia's version of the tabs above. Delete/Move/Protect are kept in the drop-down box next to the tabs (or not if you have the javascript that pulls them out of there).
- You shouldn't be referring to wikia for any kind of help, they're using a rather modded version of mediawiki, it's a lot different to ours.
- It doesn't matter anyway, you can't overwrite an already existing page with a move unless you're an admin (since you're technically deleting the page in the way first). –ultradude25 (T|C) at 16:00, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I gave up trying to move the page when I realized that. So turning off "Show edit toolbar (requires JavaScript)" in my editing preferences should allow me to see the move button? Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 16:03, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- The edit toolbar has nothing to do with it. I'm talking about the tabs. Where delete/move/protect is for me there would be a drop-down arrow for you, which would show move on any pages you're able to move. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 16:07, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

How can I view Minecraft models?
I want to contribute with isometric style images like some mobs have for the Villager page, but I can't seem to find information online. Whenever I look up things like "Import Model Minecraft View" or something, all the links are for "Importing models into Minecraft!" and annoying things like that. The only one that claimed to open .java files of models, the Import button wouldn't do anything for me. Would you know how? MegaScience 13:43, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- You don't import them, you model them manually by eye. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 03:21, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- The game still ends up with models in the game. I suppose nothing exists to directly open the files, and convert how models are produced in the game to work as an actual model.
- Before I say this, I understand that they are made a special way no one has created an automatic way to view as a model. What I will say is they end up like a model within the game, which is why I thought there would be some converter that reads how the models are created in the game to make them function in some program for viewing. If the game can create shapes and such out of them, someone might someday figure out how to make them read elsewhere in the same fashion...
- All that said, okay, nothing I can do then. Sorry to bother you. MegaScience 03:56, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- The models seem to be made dynamically by the game, I have yet to spot any kind of model files. There probably wouldn't be a way to convert it if it's like that. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 06:54, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm just saying that it isn't a conventional model, but it is a model in the sense that whatever data that makes it up makes a model in game. I'm sure it is just simplistic data that the game itself uses to create the models and such, but in any case something like this should be able to be read by something. I mean, it is a model. It's not a .blend or something, but it has a file, the file is used by the game, and ingame there is a shape that technically is a model. If it's done a special, hard to figure out way, it is. But... Ya I'm just frustrated with how people treat the subject. I know it can't be imported in any simple way yet, but it shouldn't be impossible... MegaScience 02:15, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
