Capitalization
I wrote a reply on my talk page. —kpreid 13:01, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Btw, one of the reasons why many of the common nouns are capitalized (e.g., the Player and Wooden Planks) is because the article titles are capitalized. It's easier and faster to directly link to the article name instead of involving a bunch of redirects. And I'd rather not do a bunch of unnecessary piping, and just leave it as is. I sort of consider them to be proper nouns because they are in-game things with specific names (tooltips), and aren't really like real-world counterparts. Edit: I'm going to go check the tooltips to see if they really are capitalized; if they aren't then there's going to be a lot of page renaming. - Asterick6 (talk) 01:02, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Update: Er yea, the reason why the article names are capitalized is because the tooltips are caps as well. Maybe we could tell Mojang to lowercase them, but I don't really care much about this. - Asterick6 (talk) 01:04, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- What's wrong with the player and wooden planks? Doesn't that redirecting occur in every redirect on Wikipedia anyway?
- If you're are talking about the tooltips that come up when you mouse over an item they are obviously capitalized because they aren't part of a sentence and they're on their own. However, in the patch notes that come up in the launcher and everywhere else, item names aren't capitalized. Hower64 01:13, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Hower, since you are updating and saving the pages anyways, just pipe the links to point directly to the article instead of making them all redirect. It takes little effort to do. - Asterick6 (talk) 04:46, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- If you say so. Hower64 04:56, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well if you want to fix them go ahead, but try to use piped links instead of redirects. I just think it's better to arrive directly at the target page instead of being redirected unnecessarily. - Asterick6 (talk) 01:33, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- The wiki automatically capitalizes the first letter of page names; wood and Wood are equivalent, so you never need to have
[[Wood|wood]]. However, wooden plank needs a redirect or piped link to reach Wooden Plank. A compromise might be to put only links in title case (and preferably only link terms the first time they're used in an article), but that has the same old problem of appearing inconsistent. I don't see any ideal solution to this; having redirects for multiple-word pages is the least effort for editors, as many of them already exist. I'm not sure about how much they affect performance/server load, but Wyntyst or one of the other admins should know. -- Orthotope 01:46, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

- (Yes I already knew about wikilinking since I started editing Wikipedia more than a year ago). I've heard that redirecting may cause servers to be slightly slower, but Ultradude says there's pretty much no difference. Editing the article to fix existing links causes more server load than using the redirect/original link. Having consistent and proper style/capitalization is more important anyways. - Asterick6 (talk) 02:53, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Off-topic content
Hey Hower, when you remove off-topic content, make sure to move/merge it into the intended article. In the case of emerald, the content would be moved/merged to the Emerald Ore article. - Asterick6 (talk) 00:51, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, thanks for reminding me! Hower64 00:58, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
History
Hey, also make sure not to leave out the details when you're converting to the template as well. For example, you removed the part about the Zombie Pigman never forgiving the player when they were initially added in 1.2.0. This causes the reader to lose context about the changes. - Asterick6 (talk) 01:13, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Another example: you didn't include the content about cow horns being added to the texture. Make sure not to leave stuff out when converting! Thanks for starting the conversion process though. - Asterick6 (talk) 03:38, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- I fixed the cow page, thanks! Hower64 06:01, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Nice one! You found a screenshot for it. - Asterick6 (talk) 06:04, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Upcoming section
Hey Hower, make sure you get the versions in the correct section because you're putting already-released snapshot versions into the upcoming section. Check Version history/Development versions whenever you aren't sure if the snapshot was officially released yet. Thanks - Asterick6 (talk) 23:18, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Re: Article style
I have been working with wikis for several years, learning standard wiki format and rules from administrators strict in such policies. Since I came to this wiki, I would correct names in this fashion on most pages I edit. Having talked to administrators about edits whilst making such edits, they did not give notice. Considering how such naming complicates multi-word article hyperlinks, it would be more efficient to keep correct capitalization. Furthermore, these are names. I was not badly reverting your edits - More so, undoing specific parts of your edit since they directly conflicted the way I had articles previously. I could change this over the entire wiki, but this would of course take an excessive amount of time and difficulty considering the amount of activity here.
On the subject of Gallery placement, standard wiki policy dictates that Galleries go below above Trivia sections. I have discussed this directly with administrators, and although no preference was given, they were fine with moving Galleries in this fashion. Although I have not been able to do this correction on all articles as of yet, I will correct this on any article I come to edit. This error is very widespread on this wiki, but it can not be simply searched to find all instances, which is why it is still so prevalent. MegaScience 05:54, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- By 'below' you mean after right? As in gallery after trivia - which is the opposite of what you did. On the subject of capitalization however I wouldn't say that it's 'correct capitalization' to capitalize every in-game item because Mojang never does that. The inconvenience of piping every multi-worded link isn't that big in my opinion; it's not even entirely important. It would actually be more efficient to de-capitalize everything because most of the wiki currently treats in-game items as common nouns. Hower64 06:09, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- Most of the Gallery sections I moved were originally put there by you. Therefore, by your argument, they should stay the way I put them until agreement can be made. Do you accept this? I will only revert the ones you had originally placed. MegaScience 07:32, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? How is anyone going to reach an agreement if you haven't told anyone about your views on the style guide talk page. Besides, as you said yourself, "standard wiki policy dictates that Galleries go below Trivia sections". I'm just following standard procedure, you are the one who is changing stuff around without telling anyone else. Hower64 08:24, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry. Thanks for pointing out that error. Anyway, I spoke with Ultradude25 on the IRC:
- <ultradude25> It seems to make sense for the gallery to be above trivia
- <ultradude25> Since trivia is sort of a after thought section: "and by the way, here's some other interesting stuff"
- I understand this is not consensus. MegaScience 08:43, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm fine with either one I suppose, consistency is all that really matters. Hower64 09:42, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
About Snow Golem trivia
The trivia was not stating "They are snowmen," it was saying "In the code, despite being named Snow Golems by the game, they are named 'SnowMan' in the code."
a(sb.class, "MushroomCow", 96, 10489616, 12040119);
a(z.class, "SnowMan", 97);
a(zr.class, "Ozelot", 98, 15720061, 5653556);
I wasn't sure about adding it back, but that trivia has been there since around the time the players had access to them, and I don't see why we need to remove it. But I won't undo you - I already undid that IP. Do you get what I mean though? MegaScience 12:14, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- You do realize that it was duplicated trivia right? The exact same thing is said at the beginning of the trivia section. Whether or it is good enough trivia is debatable I guess though after seeing so much bad trivia on this wiki I've come to follow the Team Fortress wiki's trivia guidelines as we have none. Specifically one of the examples they use of poor trivia:

Sorry about the blocking!
I saw this, and thought you were spamming, but didn't see the undo comments. sorry for any inconvinience! --Kizzycocoa 00:00, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Changes I made
- I recently made a change from 'have' to 'had'. When I review the sentence they were in I realised you were correct and it was in fact 'have'. Sorry for the stupid mistake Lordkane1st 05:02, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- No problem! I enjoy fixing those types of errors anyway :) Hower64 06:18, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
It's like looking into a mirror
I swear you're a long lost twin/clone or something. You always make the same types of edits I usually do. I'm usually on only a fraction of the time I used to be because of you. The petty vandalism or minor information that I usually undo is almost always caught by you now. Between the two of us I don't think anything gets by these days. --Moxxy 06:05, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'm glad you feel that way. It's nice to know there are other people on this site stamping out badly made edits and minor vandalism. Hower64 06:18, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've been doing it on this wiki since June 2010 ;D --Moxxy 06:23, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for all your edits in the past 2 years :) Hower64 06:32, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Citations
Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Citing sources#Inline citations & Wikipedia:Wikipedia:REFPUNC#Punctuation and footnotes. I was taught otherwise, but whatever. The only time people question how I edit is when the person who taught me isn't online and won't be online for a while to ask where SHE got that. And when I do get to ask her, it seems like I misinterpreted... --MegaScience 16:53, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Wiki griefers, How do they work.
For instance, Why would anyone stay up to say, I'm quoting "poop poop penis"?
I know right, maybe a Five year old or Someone drunk!
Anyways... You seem to be a great Moderator of Content going in and out of Minecraft Wiki pages!
Best Wishes

Xbox 360 Edition
Your edit of Xbox 360 Edition had messed up the link box at top of the page. It seems to be fixed now. --Ichi (Talk) 04:08, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- I did not cause that. Hower64 07:08, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Remove all "See also" sections ?
Hi ! I saw you reverted my edits because the "see also" section is useless as all links are already set in the rest of the page. That's OK for me but ... doesn't this mean that "see also" sections should be removed from all the pages then ? Because all of the pages with "see also" sections do have most of the links in other sections too ... Missingno 26 08:46, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, any see also sections that only contain links that are already mentioned in the article should be removed. I have seen pages that have see also sections that link to proper articles though. (See WP:ALSO for more information.) Hower64 08:58, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- I have noticed this too, not cool man! --Halflifejoe 21:26, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Issue page creation
Hey, next time use {{subst:Issues weekly}} for weekly updates, instead of using the one for the full update. There isn't much difference, but just use the one for meant for it. --M0rphzone(talk) (*How to remove sidebar*) 23:36, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
You do know how to use templates and substitute them correctly, right? --M0rphzone(talk) (*How to remove sidebar*) 23:50, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- What? Of course I do. I used {{subst:issues}} originally then I realized there was {{issues weekly}} so I just swapped them out. The change I made to the actual template was because I was going so quickly and made a mistake. No need to sound so patronizing, jeez. Hower64 01:32, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oh lol, that's good. Just making sure you knew how it worked :P --M0rphzone(talk) (*How to remove sidebar*) 03:55, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
You are wrong.
You removed my change to the trivia and bugs sections in the beacon page, saying that it is clearly stated in the main article. Tell me, does '(or any combination of the 4)' sound very clear? I told that 'Despite using higher tier materials, the beacon works the same, therefor you are wasting resources using emerald blocks and emeralds instead of iron blocks and iron ingots. Trigger hurt 12:10, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I was referring to this line: "The type of block used does not affect the power, radius or abilities of the Beacon block, as long a they are iron, gold, emerald or diamond blocks." which is the last line under Beacon#Requirements/effects. -- Hower64 12:28, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- I see your point. I guess i just failed and didn't see it. (although i read it almost 5 times before...) Trigger hurt 13:16, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
Actually...
Look he was giving input clearly stated several times, it is unnecessary information. Trigger hurt 15:02, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Your 1.4 Anchor
Shouldn't it be the other way, since it is a named major update? How about unnamed updates logged in Upcoming features, and named updates have their own page with a {{main}} link in Upcoming features. --Kanegasi ☺C 15:12, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- As long as there isn't two change logs co-existing that constantly need to be kept in sync, yeah, sure. -- Hower64 15:20, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi
You seem to have some kind of special hate to what changes i make. About half of them are undone by You, the other quarter by Kanegasi. I am confused, as no other people have undone my changes, besides one other person because i failed at typing something. Trigger hurt 15:24, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- However i understand the undoing of the ones i made on the iron block and so on, those my friend did, he doesn't have an email and cant make an account (he does not know how to). Trigger hurt 15:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Very interesting. First of all, I don't remember undoing anything you did. Second, you're admitting to sharing your account. Only you can use your account. See Wiki Rule #21.3. Either help your friend make an account or he doesn't edit at all.

- I will like to note that it does seem to have a slightly higher blast resistance, back in 1.0 i was testing with iron blocks and TNT, i did this about 20 times, i wanted to make sure it was true. And despite the game files as proof, it seemed that the iron block was tougher than the diamond or gold blocks, and even if i am wrong and it was coincidental, it is still kind of weird that a block made of pure diamond is as strong as one made from gold. Trigger hurt 15:29, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- No hate at all, in fact, the only edits you've made that I have undone were the recent ones just mentioned and your edits of the beacon page, which, we've already gone through. I always justify any edits and you can always argue here if you disagree. -- Hower64 15:39, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Stop assuming
"Use the Show preview button next time." Jesus, how many fucking times are you going to say that? Do you think I'm a noob at wiki editing? You really gotta stop assuming. You think I don't use the preview button? How obnoxious can you get? I couldn't figure out where the issue was because of the bunch of code/text, and I was in the process of reformatting it. But thanks for fixing it so quickly. Jeez, have some patience man. --M0rphzone(talk) 05:57, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- You don't have to be so angry, I was just giving a friendly reminder. Besides, if you used the Show preview button you would have seen the problem, so why did you save the page before fixing it? It took me a few seconds to locate it and it had been 10 minutes after you made the edit so I thought you hadn't noticed. -- Hower64 06:08, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- I was actually editing 3 articles at the same time: the program template, the program documentation, and the Minecraft article. The first edit I submitted in the template for the ratings fields wasn't correctly coded at first, so I had to fix that, but I'd already saved the Minecraft page. I'd hoped someone wouldn't update the article before I was done fixing the issues on both pages, but it looks like you did it before I could get to it. Sorry about the rant and attacks bro, but have some patience will you? It's like you think I'm incompetent or something. And you've repeated that line so many times I'm starting to think you have memory loss, (which you most likely do not). --M0rphzone(talk) 06:13, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Halloween Pumpkins
I was watching a livestream of Minecraft, and when it hit 12 AM their time, mobs began spawning wearing pumpkins. This was Zombie Pigmen, Skeletons, Wither Skeletons at that point. Not only was it pumpkins, some were wearing Jack-O-Lantern. Considering how generic this is, noting it on a specific mobs page probably isn't good. It isn't that specific, and once the information outdates, adjusting several occurrences of the exact same information across the wiki isn't preferable. I think it'd be better on the Mobs page, or something more generic since this isn't as specific as one single mob. --MegaScience 06:01, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
