Templates in signature[]

Just a note, your signature should not contain templates, unless they are substituted. See the rules. --KnightMiner (t|c) 15:42, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

The signature editor did automatically substitute the template. The signature entry has . Also, it does fit into the character limit of 250 characters.
P.S. I may need to change my Russian signature due to this.
--Naista2002 (t c) 16:23, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
The Russian template is requested for deletion, while I've designed a navigation template for talk pages...
--Naista2002 (t c) 17:13, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
I'm refering to your use of ItemLink, EntityLink --KnightMiner (t|c) 17:39, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I shall change the signature like I did with the Russian one.
But I still have checked the size of the signature template page. It is <250 even with the category setting.
By the way, I discussed my Russian signature with a Russian contributor by the name of Dand0 and I found out that the rule about using templates in signatures doesn't exist in the Russian wiki.
There is the Dand0's quote from a Russian talk page, translated by myself:

I shall tell something: When the wiki (not only ours) about Minecraft only started to exist, Russian and English wikis about Minecraft were different, because our wiki was made by Minecrafting community, while who made the English wiki - I don't know. Rules of ours were made by HEKP0H, Teksel and probably Norrius (I hope you know who he is), but who made rules for the English counterpart - once again, I don't know. Only when projects started to know each other, contributors started to just add interwiki links. Nobody wanted to change the rules. Then, they merged into a single domain (English wiki was www.minecraftwiki.net, while we had a "ru" sub-domain (i.e. ru.minecraftwiki.net)), and later we've incorporated into Gamepedia, but because then-administrators declined (the reason is written below) to change the rules, no longer anyone wanted to change them. Since the creation of rules by the users listed above, they didn't change (however GreenStone replaced a letter "е" with an "ё" in a word). But, if we copy rules from the English wiki, "some" pages will be deleted, some - "a bit" changed, but this is the labor of users (e.g. pages about NEI and TMI). And at all, some wikis must be different from others. If a wiki is in the same domain as another, it doesn't mean that they must be identical.

Yeah, I did check the russian wiki's rules, and they are somewhat different than here, so that signature would be fine on the Russian version. The main reason we have that rule here is to prevent some issues with template caching, since signatures get used a lot more than most templates. --KnightMiner (t|c) 16:43, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Note that I first made an edit in this, English, wiki, despite me being Russian. --Regards, Naista2002 (RU T C) 17:04, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Unofficially, usage of templates in signatures is prohibited, with the exception of . And we're still different wiki projects, even if it at first glance isn't seen.

But still, we're able to use grid images instead of these templates. See also Munin's signature - which inspired to use these templates. –Naista2002Talk

How to add an interwiki to a talk page?[]

Sorry if I made unnecessary edits to this page, but I want to know how to add an interwiki to a talk page.

–Regards, Naista2002Talk
13:55, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Why do you write it to your talk page, not Community portal or Admin noticeboard? --Dand0 (talk) 14:04, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Done. –Regards, Naista2002Talk

Typo in URL to Redstone Simulator[]

The right link is «mordritch.com/mc_rss» —Dand0 (talk) 18:24, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Thank you. Unfortunately you can't edit that page due to protective magic. —Naista2002Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 05:05, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Redirect links[]

Hi Naista, I've noticed that your bot is correcting redirect links, however I would just like to point out a part of the style guide you may not have noticed.

"Linking to a redirect is preferred over using a piped link except in templates and other pages that will be transcluded. When a piped link is unavoidable, it should not point to a redirect. If a redirect can be avoided using a suffix on the link, that is preferred. E.g. Using Creepers instead of Creepers is desired."

As was discussed here, simply bypassing a redirect causes wikitext clutter. Therefore, allowing names with two words to be redirected should be left as is. Also, your bot should not be redirecting to disambiguation pages. GoandgooTalk

Sorry, I was just testing my bot. I want for it to also fix interwiki links, but I get error messages every time I try. --Naista2002Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 11:35, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
Ahh, I just remembered something: the poppy link in Tutorials/Iron golem farming's intro. Would it be worth to change poppies to poppies or poppies? --Naista2002Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 12:00, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
If it is still going to be a redirect to the same page, there is really no need to add a display name. Poppies is sufficient. KnightMiner (t|c) 01:35, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

Congratulations! you have a new friend! I give you a chocolate. Laura Fidalgo (Talk / Contribs) 14:21, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

About rollback[]

Why did you import Majr's script, that let's give a rollback description, though you are not administrator? --Dand0 (talk) 15:16, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Maybe I wanted to try. --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 15:17, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Also, that "let's" can be written without an apostrophe, so "that lets give...". --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 15:18, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
To be an administrator? --Dand0 (talk) 15:23, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
No, how it works. --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 15:24, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
OK, I again misunderstood you. --Dand0 (talk) 15:25, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
I didn't note something. A user had that script installed, and he/she was not an admin. See: User:Bunny365/common.js, User:Bunny365. --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 16:33, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Show me any rollback by this user. --Dand0 (talk) 17:16, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Looks like not... Sorry for bugging you much. --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 17:22, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Replacing redirect links[]

There's really no reason to replace the links to flowers, we have redirects. MajrTalk
10:23, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

I know. I just want to be more consistent with the style guide.

Linking to a redirect is preferred over using a piped link except in templates and other pages that will be transcluded. When a piped link is unavoidable, it should not point to a redirect. If a redirect can be avoided using a suffix on the link, that is preferred. E.g. Using Creepers instead of Creepers is desired.

Style guide
--Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 11:43, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
It's only transcluded pages where redirects actually have a negative effect. The style guide's wording is a bit strong in regards to piped links and using suffixes and is more talking about making new links. The ever so tiny extra perf you get from avoiding a redirect is void if you do an edit just to get rid of it, as that edit is way more expensive. Redirects should only be "improved" (I'm not going to say corrected, as redirects are perfectly correct) on non-transcluded pages while already making an edit to do something else. The style guide might need some better wording in that regard. I might even learn towards using redirects over suffixes, Creepers is slightly more easier to read than Creepers. MajrTalk
12:56, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
@Majr: This edit would prove its worthiness over time. Some users would follow a new link, which makes less server load than a redirect. --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 17:32, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Saving an edit is so much more expensive than going through a redirect that it would take a quite a long time before there is a net benefit. MajrTalk

JARVISTheBot is now a bot on spanish Minecraft Wiki.

Regards, Wizdeck~ Spanish Wiki Admin (talk) 16:51, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Why you post replies on the asker's talk page, not on your talk page? Spanish habit? --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 16:54, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks anyway.
Now that my bot is now working on Spanish wiki, someone may ask about its work. I'm not fluent in Spanish, unfortunately, so I assign you as my eyes and ears there. May the Force be with you. --Naista2002 Iron Pickaxe JE3 BE2.png 18:37, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Lewandowski, I don't need the Editor and Nopreviewrequire flags for my bot at all. Nick the Red37 — ru.wiki moderator (talk) 08:40, 18 January 2015 (UTC) (fka Naista2002)

Re: Disallow anonymous users to create pages[]

Hi! Unfortunately, this can be done only in MediaWiki configuration file. I don't have access to files. Curse staff can do it. I will write to tech staff. Thanks! Lewandowskipl.Wiki Admin talk 18:10, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

LauraFi - talk 14:53, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, but I'm not much active here. My homeland Russian wiki is in complete chaos, and I want to deal with that. I'm currently writing the style guide for that wiki, mainly together with a user named KhmelAW, who is present on Russian Wikia (mainly Sacred Wiki, from where I and that user took some style tips) as Кольт (Colt). --Nick the Red37 — ru.wiki moderator (talk) 15:27, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Spelling Error in Signature[]

There is a slight spelling error in your signature: when hovering over your name it says "Formely known as Naista2002" instead of "Formerly known as Naista2002" :) -Sonicwave talk 05:31, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for reporting it :) I shall fix that later, because I'm currently editing via a phone. Nick the Red37 — ru.wiki moderator (talk) 08:48, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Signature having issues[]

Since you added the html note before a noinclude tag, the entire contents of your signature page are getting added upon signing. KnightMiner (t·c) 18:57, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Fixed. Maybe I derped something. Thanks for reporting :) I’m Nick the Red37, a ru.wiki mod f.k.a. Naista2002 06:59, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

Your userpage[]

You can start editing it again, right? –LauraFi - talk 00:14, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

It's at User:Naista2002/userpage.css; since I'm no longer using that nickname, I can't edit that page. Note that it is a .css page; it uses a page protection technology I found from Ivan-r. — Agent Nick the Red37 (talk · contribs) f.k.a. Naista2002 05:22, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Administrators can still edit those pages, so you could put in a request to have them moved. KnightMiner (t·c) 14:44, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I know. I may have just been lazy to ask it. But, unfortunately, the only admin I saw editing today is Orthotope (and he is not active right now)... I even emailed Majr to notify him of this message, but there is no response. If Dinoguy is also inactive (even if posting on his talk page), then I’ll contact another Curse employee. — Agent Nick the Red37 (talk · contribs) f.k.a. Naista2002 14:53, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
