The Wild Update is a major update released on June 7, 2022 as Java Edition 1.19 and Bedrock Edition 1.19.0, themed around "scary things" and natural wilderness. It introduces the deep dark and mangrove biomes; ancient cities; mobs such as the warden; the frog, the tadpole, and the allay, as well as new items obtainable only in these new biomes.
History and development[]
The update was annouced on October 16, 2021 at Minecraft Live 2021.
The development for Java Edition 1.19 started with Java Edition Deep Dark Experimental Snapshot 1, released on February 17, 2022, which was also the only experimental snapshot released. A month later, Java Edition 22w11a, the first snapshot for 1.19, was released and included most of the features in the experiemental snapshot, except the Warden. The last snapshot was 22w19a released on May 12, 2022. After the snapshot development phase, the pre-release phase begun, starting with Pre-release 1 (released on May 18, 2022) and finished with Java Edition 1.19 Pre-release 5. Finally, the development was ended with Java Edition 1.19 Release Candidate 2 on June 3, 2022 and the update officially released 4 days later on June 7, 2022.
The development for Bedrock Edition 1.19.0 started with Bedrock Edition 1.18.30, where the features were added under an experimental toggle. On April 6, 2022, Bedrock Edition beta 1.19.0.20, the first beta for 1.19.0, was released with the final beta, Bedrock Edition beta 1.19.0.34, being released on May 19, 2022. For Xbox, the final development version was Bedrock Edition Preview 1.19.0.68. The Bedrock Edition 1.19.0 was officially released on June 7, 2022.

- Bedrock Edition 1.19.10 is a minor release, which brought more parity with Java Edition and fixed bugs.
- Bedrock Edition 1.19.11 is a minor release, which fixed some bugs.
- Bedrock Edition 1.19.20 is a minor release, which brought more parity with Java Edition and fixed bugs.
- Bedrock Edition 1.19.21 and Bedrock Edition 1.19.22 are minor releases, which fixed bugs.

Reception[]

- Reveal
When the update was revealed at Minecraft Live 2021, it was met with mostly positive feedback. The positives included Warden's addition, which has been delayed 2 times. One of the other positive was the revamped Swamp, chest boats and frogs. However, one of the negatives was an another delay of Archeology.
- Release
The release of 1.19 was met with more mixed reception. Mojang Studios was critized by scraping an idea of birch forest improvements and fireflies which they showcased at the Minecraft Live. On other hand, the new Ancient City and Warden were very praised.
Java Edition 1.19.1[]
The 1.19.1 had very negative reception and was heavily critized for the new chat reporting feature. It is currently one of the most notorious releases of Minecraft.
