The Legacy Console Edition consisted of many 7th generation consoles as well as 8th generation consoles which were later ported to the Bedrock Edition.
Devices[]
Xbox 360 Edition: This was the very first console to have Minecraft access. The sales blew up and like the other editions, got it's final update in Update Aquatic.
PlayStation 3 Edition: This was the second console to have Minecraft access. This was also the first from Sony. An interesting note is that in contrary to what Notch said (He said Xbox 360 would be the only console edition.), other consoles got minecraft.
Port to Bedrock Edition[]
New Nintendo 3DS Edition[]
This was an Edition released for the New Nintendo 3DS, the New Nintendo 3DS XL, and the New Nintendo 2DS XL. It got only 9 updates which which made it identical to Pocket Edition 1.1.5. It was discontinued in 2019.
Gamemodes[]
Minecraft has 4 (or 5) gamemodes. These are Creative, Survival, Adventure, and Spectator, (and Hardcore.) Creative is where you can't die (except the void) and have unlimited resources. Survival is where you have health and hunger. You have to fend of dangerous mobs and kill passive mobs for food. The goal is to beat the Ender Dragon. Adventure Mode is where you can not place or break blocks but you can still interact with containers, Entities, and Block Entities. Spectator is where you fly around like creative but you can't interact with anything. You can though spectate through an entity such as players, mobs, minecrafts, etc. Hardcore is where you can't die. The default gamemode is Survival for this but it could also be applied to the other gamemodes.
Creative[]
Creative is where you can build, explore, and create in a free environment with no restrictions. You have unlimited resources and can fly around. You can't die (except the void and /kill) and you can interact with everything including other creative mode people (though you can't attack them.)
Operator Status[]
Operator 'OP' status is where you have moderator rights on a world/server. You have access to all commands (including /op itself). On servers, this is only given to trusted people as if someone like a griefer had this, they would probably ban all the admins and cause absolute destruction. Thankfully, backups and console exists which 1. Backups, a duplicate of a world, allowing you to use the Backup with no griefing and 2. Console. This is basically the server itself. It can peform commands like an operator and it is only accessble by server owners.
Survival[]
Survival is where you have a finite amount of hunger, food, and resources. You have to survive and progress through the game. Advancements guide you through and the goal is to beat the Ender Dragon. There are many post-game things to do and you can build, create, explore, or do whatever you want to do.
Hardcore[]
Hardcore is a varient of Survival where it is locked on hard difficlulty and if you die, it's game over. Nothing else is different and you can even use beds and respawn anchors.
PvP Minigames[]
In many PvP minigames, if you die, you lose. The most popular one of these is SkyWars with second being Hunger Games (Survival Games)
Ultra Hardcore[]
Ultra Hardcore is a variant of Hardcore where you can't Regenerate. It can be enabled either by using plugins, or doing /gamerule NaturalRegeneration to false. In PvP, it is commonly referred to as UHC. In PvP, you have to mine for resources and gold (for golden apples). Usually, there's a scenario (not major) like apple dropping from shears or wood from trees breaking all the wood. In an actual scenario, it's could be many things like Minecraft UHC but....... That is what UHC is.
Non-PvP[]
Non-PvP Ultra Hardcore Mode is a variant of normal UHC. Unlike it's normal counterpart, this is usually singleplayer and it's like normal Survival. Taking any form of damage is dangerous as the only was to heal is using healing/regen potions, Regeneration Suspicious Stew, a Beacon, or a Golden Apple.
Adventure[]
Adventure Mode is where you can't break or place blocks unless otherwise stated by a tag. This is ususally used in maps so they can't grief but an important feature is NBT can Break/Place tags. These are important im maps as they can allow certain things for the map. It also is important in mutiplayer servers (spawn only) so they can't grief the structures and design of spawn.
Spectator[]
Spectator Mode is Exclusive to Java Edition and it's purpose is to Spectate a world, server, or anything else. You can spectate Player, mobs, and even other entities like minecrafts, paintings, and dropped items. You can clip through blocks and control flying speed. You can also use a Partial Hotbar to teleport to Random Players. This gamemode is only available in Debug Mode, When you die in Hardcore Mode, or having Operator Status.
Singleplayer or Multiplayer?[]
There are 2 main ways to play, Singleplayer or Multiplayer.
Singleplayer[]
Singleplayer is where you only have one person on the world. The world can be turned temporarily into multiflayer via LAN. On the main menu on Java Edition, you press singleplayer.
Multiplayer[]
Multiplayer is where there are multiple players on a world.
LAN[]
LAN is where you can invite people to a world a play together. You must have the aame Wifi connection though.
Realms[]
Realms or Realms Plus is a subsription.
Servers[]
