Java Edition 1.18   


1.18, the first release of an unknown update, is a major update to Java Edition with no set release date. It revamps biomes and fixes bugs. It also revamps combat.

  • Made of termite blocks.
  • Spawn near baobab trees.
  • Contain termites.

  • Added palm, baobab, and mangrove boats.
Boat with Chest
  • Similar to a Minecart with Chest but with a boat.
  • Can be ridden and used to transport items across water.
  • Contains 27 slots.
  • Crafted using a boat and a chest.

  • Revamped.
  • As these tests are currently at the end of Phase 1 and there will be Phase 2 as well, it may be added in 1.18/1.19.

  • Now contain palm, baobab, and mangrove logs and planks.

Biomes

Deserts
  • This biome is from MINECON Earth 2018 and they were stated to be added later.
  • Will have palm trees, meerkats, and oasis.
Savannas
  • This biome is from MINECON Earth 2018 and they were stated to be added later.
  • Will have baobabs trees, termites, and ostriches.
Badlands
  • This biome is from MINECON Live 2019 and they were stated to be added later.
  • Will have tumbleweeds, vultures, and a flowery cactus.
Swamps
  • This biome is from MINECON Live 2019 and they were stated to be added later.
  • Will have mangrove trees, frogs, and Boat with Chests.

Blocks

Furnaces
  • Now accept palm, baobab, and mangrove wood types (planks, slabs, buttons, etc).

Announcement

1.18 will be announced after mid-2020. It may be announced like Buzzy Bees, just coming in a snapshot. It also may be announced at an event, similar to Minecraft Live 2020.

Fixes

Note:This fix version is 1.18+ meaning they may be fixed in 1.18, 1.18.x, 1.19, 1.19.x, or even later though highly unlikely.
