Abandoned Piglin Mineshafts are large, underground generated structures found in all The Nether Biomes except Soul Sand Valley. As their name suggests, they are rare maze-like complexes of tunnels, however unlike Mineshafts in the Overworld they do not have any ores exposed on the walls and floor.

Generation[]

Abandoned Piglin Mineshafts generate naturally in The Nether between y coordinates 8 and 22. Unlike Mineshafts the walls and ceiling (made of Netherrack) are part of the structure so odd generation is impossible.

Structure[]

Abandoned Piglin Mineshafts consist of the following features:

  • Lava Tube A Small Room on the surface made of Polished Blackstone Bricks with a hole in the floor filled with lava going down to the actual mineshaft.
  • Furnace Room A 5x5 Room adjacent to a Lava Tube made of Polished Blackstone Bricks containing 3 furnaces, 1 chest and a crafting table.
  • Starting point A a large room with a flat 10x10 floor and ceiling and 3 blocks high walls, made of Polished Blackstone Bricks It will have the bottom of the lava tube and up to 3 exits, usually one in each direction. Each Abandoned Piglin Mineshaft only generates one starting point. Furthermore it may have up to 6 chests.
  • Corridors 3×3 tunnels supported by wooden reinforcements constructed with planks and fences (wood type is the chosen by the closes biome with Natural Nether Wood to the middle of the lava tube - if both are equal distance one is picked random for the hole mineshaft). The passageways are connected by incomplete rail systems on the ground, on which minecarts with chests may generate.
  • Crossings - 5x5 intersections supported by wooden beams.

In the fuel box there is a 60% chance of there being 1-10 coal. In the item to be smelted box there is a 30% chance of there being 1-5 Ancient Debris however if coal and ancient debris are meant to appear one of them will be picked 50/50 to override the other. Furthermore there is a 10% chance of there being 1-3 Nether Scraps in the smelted box.

Trivia[]

  • The corridors are perfect 3x3 Netherrack tunnels with support beams but surely there would be holes where Nether Gold Ore and Netherite had been mined out by Piglins ? Why would they go to the trouble of filling them in unless they were going through lava ? Same goes for changing walls to be Netherrack that would normally be Blackstone
