Request: A few people might know me from a few other sites. Please do not communicate with me on Minecraft Wiki about anything not having to do with Minecraft or the wiki. Thanks.
With that out of the way, ...yeah.
About me in real life
- I am a 19-year-old American male. Due to (perhaps unfounded, but real nonetheless) privacy concerns, I don't feel like narrowing it down any more than that.
- I began playing Minecraft on December 29, 2012.
About me in Minecraft
- Okay, so I'm not exactly what you'd call "hardcore" (no, I probably won't ever touch that mode, sorry.) I always play with cheats on (Short on resources? Just switch to creative mode and build like crazy!)
- I cannot currently play Minecraft multiplayer due to (I assume) port forwarding woes.
- The only mod I use currently is Single Player Commands 4.4 with Minecraft 1.4.7.
The 5x8 stairwell
This is a specific staircase construction method that I am particularly fond of. Below is a diagaram of what one flight of these stairs looks like:
Constructing the stairwell
First, dig a 2x3 passage. This should be 2 blocks long if one is going down, or 1 block if going up. Next, dig out a 2x3x3 (that is, 2 blocks wide, 3 blocks high, and 3 blocks in) box from one of the far corners of this space (you should be digging out five blocks here for each block of width), depending on the direction; this will create one step. Dig out four steps this way (and optionally lay stairs down as well). Now, turn either left or right (but be consistent!) and make a landing 2 blocks wide and 5 blocks long. Go to the other end of this landing and dig another flight of 4 steps back into the same wall you came out of.
The staircase can be easily modified for a different width or floor height.
