The Update Aquatic is the name for Java Edition version 1.13[1] and an upcoming Bedrock Edition version; upcoming major updates set to be released in Q2 2018.[2][3]

The official name for the update, the Update Aquatic, was revealed on November 18, 2017, during the MineCon Earth livestream, at which time it was to be released as 1.14.

Changes

  • Magma blocks now generate bubble columns when underwater[4]. These bubble columns are found in ocean biomes, and can cause boats to shake and eventually sink.
  • Water will be able to be placed in the same space as semi-transparent blocks.[4]
  • Dropped items in water will now float towards the surface[4]
  • Replaced and changed many commands‌[Java Edition only]
  • The flattening[Java Edition only]
  • New horse model
  • Item frames can be placed on the floor and the ceiling‌[Java Edition only]
  • Squids now shoot ink when attacked
