The Update Aquatic is the name for Java Edition version 1.13[1] and an upcoming Bedrock Edition version; upcoming major updates set to be released in Q2 2018.[2][3]
The official name for the update, the Update Aquatic, was revealed on November 18, 2017, during the MineCon Earth livestream, at which time it was to be released as 1.14.

Additions
- New blocks:
- Trapdoors, pressure plates, and buttons for all 6 types of wood.[Java Edition only]
- Coral,[4], which generates in warm ocean biomes in 4 colors and 3 different forms, and can be used for decoration.
- Kelp plant,[5] a new underwater plant with a broad range of sizes and colors
- Dried kelp block
- Sea grass
- Turtle eggs, which will hatch baby turtles.[6]
- Stripped logs, which have a different texture but the same properties as logs
- Bubble columns, created by magma blocks or soul sand in water
- Prismarine stairs and slabs
- 8 new items:
- Trident,[4] a new weapon that can be thrown in combat or used as a melee weapon.
- Scute,[7] used for brewing and making full turtle shells
- Turtle shell[7]
- Kelp, the item form of kelp plant
- Dried kelp, which is edible and is obtained by smelting kelp
- Potion of the Turtle Master, which will give the player Slowness and Resistance
- Arrow of the Turtle Master
- Debug stick, used for technical purposes[Java Edition only]
- New enchantments:
- Loyalty, Impaling, Riptide, and Channeling
- All 4 can be applied to tridents
- New mobs:
- Phantom,[5] a hostile mob that will spawn at high altitudes and swoop down to attack players who haven't slept in a long time.
- Dolphin,[4] a new oceanic mob that can leap in and out of water, and lead the player to treasure found in shipwrecks.
- Fish,[4] are now mobs as well as an item, and come in many variants. If a player right-clicks a fish with a bucket, and then releases the fish, the fish will no longer despawn.
- Turtle[8], water mobs which will make nests on shorelines throughout various biomes.

- Changed pumpkin texture, and renamed the old texture to "carved pumpkin," available when a pumpkin is right-clicked with shears.[Java Edition only]
Changes
- Magma blocks now generate bubble columns when underwater[4]. These bubble columns are found in ocean biomes, and can cause boats to shake and eventually sink.
- Water will be able to be placed in the same space as semi-transparent blocks.[4]
- Dropped items in water will now float towards the surface[4]
- Replaced and changed many commands[Java Edition only]
- The flattening[Java Edition only]
- New horse model
- Item frames can be placed on the floor and the ceiling[Java Edition only]
- Squids now shoot ink when attacked
