Pillar jumping is a personal method of gaining height in Minecraft. Once used as a practical means, it is not re-usable to other players. Pillars created in this way are useful in editing adjacent tall structures.
Method
Pillar jumping is achieved by repeating the following steps:
- Aim at your feet
- Jump (space)
- Right click
Alternatively:
- Aim at feet
- Hold right mouse button
- Press space repeatedly

Responsible climbing
In levels where there is a lot of ceiling-level construction, pillars can seem a tempting way to get to where the action is. However, bear in mind:
- These are not useful to future users
- Build with a collapsable material (sand) so that they can be easily destroyed from ground level once used.
- Could you take the time to build a spiral staircase instead?
