Ender Dragon are two ] of MinecraftBoss, and the other is wither. It will only appear after reaching End by entering the activated End Portal. It is often seen as the final boss of the game, although achievement about the withering spirit is unlocked after defeating the ender dragon.

Fighting the Ender Dragon is very exciting, because once defeated, you will be eligible to hang up in the End and enter [End Outer Island. Theoretically, as long as you want, traveling more than a thousand miles from the main island can also reach the outer island before defeating the ender dragon, but it's just a waste of time and it's not worth it. Defeating the Ender Dragon will result in Return to Portal that returns you to the Overworld, and [[End Jump Gate], which goes straight to the outer islands].

Combat Readiness List

It takes a lot of preparation to defeat the Ender Dragon, but not everyone has the same level of skill. So depending on how high you are, different pre-belt equipment should be a must. Here's a suggested list of gear you might need:

  • Diamond sword or Netherite sword – Enchanted sharpV
  • Bow – Enchantments Durable III, [PowerV, and Infinite (Fire and [Impact]] do not work)
  • Trident – Enchanted loyalty or [torrent]] (optional):
    • Tridents with loyalty enchantments can be used as an alternative to bows and swords, but you'll lose them when you accidentally throw them into the void.
    • Tridents with Torrent Enchantment can be used to quickly climb obsidian pillars, provided at least one bucket is required (Enchanted Torrent III is recommended in order to fly higher).
  • Crossbow – Enchantment Quick Reload (Multiple Shot can increase hit but is not necessary, Penetration does not work)
  • Firework Rocket} (several more Fireworks Stars recommended) (optional): Used as ammunition to replace arrows as crossbows.
  • Some arrow (if you use a bow with the [Infinite spell, you can bring only one, but it is still recommended to bring more)
  • Full set Diamondarmor or Nether Alloy Armor – Enchantment ProtectionIV, DurabilityIII, and ThornII or III (BootEnchantment Drop CushionIV)
  • Diamond pickaxe or Netherite pickaxe – Enchanted efficiency IV or V: Used to dig obsidian, end stone, and iron railings.
  • Shield: Used to temporarily resist the attack of the enderman, and can also be used to resist the ender dragon fireball.
  • Water Bucket: Used to prevent ender people, but also to avoid fall injuries. In addition, possessing a trident with torrent enchantment, you can also use it to quickly climb obsidian pillars.
  • Lots of bed (optional): Used to deal huge damage to the Ender Dragon that flew into the End, it is best to bring some wool and planks to craft on the spot at the end, and directly bring the bed to occupy the inventory.
  • Crafting Table} (optional): Used for synthetic beds.
  • Lots of Respawn Anchor} (optional): Same as bed, although more expensive, stackable and not destroyed by ender dragons and explosion.
  • At least 5 Golden applePotion of HealingPotion of Regeneration
  • High nutrition food: such as steak or Golden Carrot
  • 1 Enchanted golden apple (optional)
  • 1-2 Totem of undying (optional)
  • Bale, slime block, honey block, etc. (optional): Used to reduce fall damage.
  • At least 3 bottles Potion of StrengthII (optional): Used to deal higher damage to the ender dragon.
  • Large Glass bottle: Used to collect dragon's breath.
  • Multiple groups Ender pearl (optional): Used to dodge faster, teleport when about to hit the ground to avoid falling damage, and also avoid falling into the void.
  • At least 3 blocks: used to build the Obsidian Tower.
  • Ender chest} (optional): Used to store items that are useless in your battles or to help you store more glass bottles and dragon breath.
  • Carved pumpkin} (optional): Wear it to avoid irritating them by looking at the enderman.
  • TNT (optional): Used to set up a mechanism to damage the ender dragon that stays on the terminal pool.
  • 1 or more groups Snowball} (optional, not required if you have enough arrows): Used to break the End Crystal.

Preparation

Until the Ender Dragon is defeated, you can't leave the End except to die. In Extreme Mode, you "end here" unless you defeat the ender dragon. Therefore, it is essential to survive the battle through preparatory work.

Bow

bow will be your main weapon; Whether it's destroying the End Crystal or attacking the End Dragon while it's flying through the air. It is recommended to put the bow enchanted on Power V and Infinity so that you don't run out of arrows. When each End Crystal is destroyed, twelve fully charged attacks are required to defeat the Ender Dragon. Durable spells work well on your bow, but they don't have to. One thing to know is that an enchanted but undurable bow can shoot 385 times before it breaks, which is equivalent to six sets of arrows. Shock and Fire enchantments are ineffective against the Ender Dragon.

Sword

Your sword (preferably diamond or Nether alloy) can damage the ender dragon when it perches, with the added effect of dealing with angry enderman. If your sword is enchanted with a Flame Attach, any ender will become more difficult to deal with when attacked, as they teleport through the field with almost every burn. However, if the endermen set themselves on fire, they will be weaker when on fire.

Trident

Trident is a good alternative to bows and swords, it has both melee damage of the sword and ranged attack of the bow, and it has higher damage than the sword, does not consume arrows, and also avoids accidentally injuring the enderman due to sweeping slashes. However, its drawbacks are also obvious, first, you have to enchant it loyalty (unless you are enchanting [torrent for climbing obsidian pillars); Secondly, it's inferior to the sword in terms of attack speed, inferior to the bow in terms of range and damage, and you also need to prevent throwing the trident into the void. But throwing a trident can deal damage to ender dragons that stay on the pool of the end, while bows can't.

Players can climb the Obsidian Pillar by throwing a trident with a torrent spell attached to it vertically, and since the torrent enchantment requires the player to be in water to take effect, don't forget to bring bucket.

Crossbow

Crossbow has longer range and more damage than a bow, but it is not recommended to use it instead of a bow due to its lack of enchantment. The crossbow has a longer charge time, but it does not slow down when it is reloaded, and using fireworks rocket as ammunition can produce extremely high damage, so it is recommended to ensure that one shot will be hit. Players can use Multiple Shot to increase the hit rate.

Armor

The Ender Dragon deals 15♥ × 7.5 damage each time it attacks with its head. This is the fifth strongest single damage dealt by hostile creatures in the Minecraft game, after Guardian and Pig Spirit Barbarian. Therefore, it is recommended that you wear ""Full armor' (preferably diamond or Nether alloy), enchanted on protection] IV. Because of the Ender Dragon's knockback, and the potential cliff, Fall Cushion] IV almost certainly attaches to your boots. Thorn is also recommended because it can hurt angry enderman when they attack you. However, thorns are very durable, so enchant your armor [Durability III or [Experience Patch] whenever possible.

Pickaxe

When you first enter the End of the World, you may be born underground. A [pickaxe] is necessary to dig into the ground, and it is also needed to break the iron cage that protects certain end crystals. If you don't carry a pickaxe, it will take a long time to break the iron railing and the end stone. It is recommended that the diamond pickaxe comes with efficiency (preferably IV or V) so that you can dig to the surface and destroy the cage faster.

Healing Items

Even if you have excellent protection, you can take a lot of damage if you lack actual combat experience, so healing items are absolutely necessary. Golden Apple are highly effective healing items because they give you the [Damage Absorption effect and protect you when you take most damage. Enhanced Healing Potion and Extended Regenerative Potion are equally recommended, but not necessary. Enchanted Golden Apple can heal you better than regular golden apples, but they are extremely difficult to find and cannot be synthesized. So save them for emergency use whenever possible, and use ordinary golden apples in other general cases.

Undead Totem also works, but it can only be found when you raid Woodland Mansion or through attacks in normal or hard mode. However, it can help you in an emergency and save you from death. An easy way to use it is to hold it in deputy and then you can even naturally ignore it while fighting. When you take other fatal damage, the undead totem will explode and animate fireworks, then "resurrect" you and give you [Regeneration, Fire, and short-term damage absorbing.

Ladders

Ladders can be an alternative to blocks to climb the obsidian pillars as the player does not need to break the ladders to get down. Ladders are generally easier to place down unlike blocks in which case the player must jump every time. Ladders can also be used to prevent fall damage, but this is difficult, and should just be replaced with a water bucket to prevent fall damage.

Water bucket

A water bucket is extremely useful to have when the player fights the dragon, and even before the fight begins. It can be used to put out lava that is encountered while looking for the end portal. In the End, if the player falls off a tower and doesn't have enough ender pearls or slow falling potions, players can try to place a water bucket below their feet just before they land (water bucket MLG). The timing, however, is very tight, and messing up can have potentially fatal results. Water can also help them deal with provoked endermen. If an enderman is pursuing the player, dump the water at their feet (or yours) and the enderman takes damage and teleports away. The water also neutralizes the enderman on Java Edition, causing it to ignore the player again.

Water buckets are another alternative to get to the top of towers, although this requires a little training.

It is also possible to use several water buckets to make a infinite water generator and flood big parts of the island. This gets any endermen out of the way and removes the need for slow falling potions or water bucket MLGs.

Beds

Beds can be extremely useful for dealing large amounts of damage to the dragon. Placing them down when the ender dragon is on the exit portal and blowing them up removes up to 1/5 of the ender dragon's health. Although this is a good strategy, it is extremely dangerous and you have to be careful. The main way to not take damage is going inside the exit portal, placing a bed, putting a block next to that bed and then right-clicking. Doing this negates the damage to you, even without Blast Protection armor, as the explosion does not go down to hit your legs and the block you placed prevents your head from being hit. However, it is recommended to bring at least one piece of Blast Protection armor as a failsafe, just in case you accidentally leave yourself exposed to the explosion.

Alternatively, end crystals may be used in place of beds. If you place several end crystals on the portal, wait for the dragon to swoop down and perch on the portal, then shoot the crystals with a bow or throw a egg/snowball at it. The dragon takes the explosive damage, plus 10 extra points of damage if the crystal was destroyed while the dragon is charging from it. This is significantly safer than using beds, and end crystal explosions don't create fires that beds do. However, end crystals are more expensive than beds, and it causes significant damage to the terrain.

You can also use a bed to set your spawn point in the Overworld just before you jump through the end portal, which allows you to return quickly in case of death.

Optional items

There are more items that are useful in the End, but are not needed to beat the fight:

  • A torch to collect the dragon egg after the battle
  • An ender chest to bring additional items into the End. Note that you can only reclaim the chest with a Silk Touch pickaxe. As the ender chest inventory can be accessed from any dimension using any ender chest, you can also use it to protect valuables such as the dragon egg or any loot you might find.
  • Empty glass bottles to collect dragon's breath
  • A carved pumpkin which prevents endermen from getting aggressive
  • Iron blocks to build an iron golem, which deals with the endermen
  • Tridents are good weapons for the fight as well, but they should have Loyalty. You can also use Riptide to boost yourself up with the help of a water bucket. Note: If your trident goes into the void, it does not return even if it is enchanted with loyalty.‌[Java Edition only]
  • Having a totem of undying in your offhand saves you from death once. This can be helpful if things go wrong, but note that totems don't protect from falling into the void. You can get totems of undying from killing an Evoker in a Woodland Mansion or during a village raid.
  • Having wood can allow you to craft chests which can ultimately allow you to craft shulker boxes from the shulker shells that you get from end cities.
  • If you are going to explore the outer islands in search for end cities, bring some firework rockets. Once you find elytra, you can fly back home without having to take a gateway portal. You can also bring an anvil, a Mending book and an Unbreaking III book to instantly enchant your elytra, giving you extended flight time and an option to repair them by killing endermen.
  • If you are playing on Bedrock Edition, you can brew potions of harming, put them in cauldrons, and make tipped arrows of harming which can increase your damage to the dragon a lot. Note: tipped arrows are not affected by Infinity.

Journey to the portal

All players begin the ender dragon fight with eyes of ender, because they are needed to locate and activate the end portal, which is found in a stronghold. To make one, you need one ender pearl and one piece of blaze powder. You need to set aside 12, because you need up to 12 to activate the portal, and you also need a few extra eyes to find the stronghold.

Stronghold

To find the stronghold, throw an eye of ender into the air, and it floats upward in the direction of the nearest stronghold. It then falls back to the ground and you can pick it up and throw it again. Note that the eye has a chance of breaking when you throw it, so bring at least 15 eyes to spare. Make sure to go into third person view before throwing an eye so you can see the direction the eye flies in as well as whether it breaks or where it falls in case the eye flies behind you. Follow the ender eyes until they float downward, which indicates that a stronghold is underneath. If the eyes direct you to a village, the stronghold is most likely located under the village's meeting point.‌[BE only]

Dig underground to find the stronghold. You might dig into a cave or even a ravine, so it could be difficult to find. Use water to put out any lava that is in the way. Keep exploring the cave or keep digging until you see stone bricks, which indicates that you have found the stronghold. Once you break in, get out your torches so that you can mark your exit and light up the area. You should also block off dead end passages with cobblestone to avoid getting lost.

Triangulation

An alternate method for locating strongholds is to use the angles, in which ender eyes move from two different points to mathematically calculate the coordinates of the stronghold. Given the coordinates of two points in the world, (X1, Z1) and (X2, Z2), and the exact angles at which eyes of ender move, A1 and A2 (all of which can be measured from the F3 debug screen), the stronghold is at the following coordinates:

X = (Z1 - Z2 - X2cot(A2) + X1cot(A1)) / (cot(A1) - cot(A2))

Z = (X2 - X1 - Z1tan(A1) + Z2tan(A2)) / (tan(A2) - tan(A1)),

where tan(x) is the tangent function and cot(x) is the cotangent. By using this method to find the starting point for searching, it is usually possible to find the stronghold using only three or four ender eyes.

Food =

You can't do without [food]] at any time, especially when you have the ability to make food. steak and cooked pork chops are almost the most nutritious foods, so one of them is highly recommended. Golden Carrot provides a large amount of saturation, and under the mechanism of faster recovery to life in the presence of surplus saturation, golden carrot is more useful than steak. If you want to eat quickly, you can also bring cake. You just put them down right away and start enjoying them without delay. However, the saturation and hunger levels that cakes can replenish are very low and non-stackable. So unless you're going to eat it in a fraction of the time, foods like steak and golden carrots are more recommended.

Golden Apple and [Enchanted Golden Apple]] also restore food levels, but in most cases they are used as healing items. Use them only if you take more than 8♥♥♥♥} damage at one time. And if you don't have full saturation, eat regular food first.

Potion

When you fight the Ender Dragon, potion is highly recommended to improve your performance. Since the main damage path when fighting is [Drop Damage, the Descent Potion is simply a necessity. Strength potions, jump potions, and swiftness potions can improve your abilities when fighting.

The potion can also be used in an emergency blood return. Golden apples can be used as a blood return item because they allow you to be protected by the Damage Absorption effect when you return blood. However, they are only useful if you have received non-fatal injuries. In some emergencies, such as when life is only 4♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it is highly recommended to drink healing potion because they will heal you instantly. It is recommended to turn them into Splash Potion, as they take effect faster, so fast that you are treated as soon as you drop it (watch out for hitting the enderman).

Compared to golden apples, Regeneration Potion can keep you bleeding, but you should only use them if you take damage over time. Dragons can use a variety of attacks to deal immediate damage. If you only have very low HP before the battle ends, you can use your regeneration potion to gradually regain HP.

Block

Blocks are useful when you climb the tower. It is best to choose blocks that will not be destroyed by the ender dragon and enderman, since they are instantaneous destruction of destructible blocks, so the lower the hardness of the block is beneficial to the player, but since the explosion of the end crystal will destroy the block, you should try to use a block with higher [explosion resistance. scaffolding can also be used to facilitate quick tower erection. It is recommended to build a relatively high tower and shoot a low one from above. You'll also need blocks to climb ] Cage " A tower wrapped around the End Crystal. Alternatively, you can drop an ender pearl to teleport to the top of the tower. (Although that is hard)

Ender Pearl

It is highly recommended to bring Ender Pearl when going to the end. You can use them to teleport up the tower, or when your obsidian spawn platform is far from the island, you can use them so as not to waste your blocks. If you're in the air and you'll get damage when you come down, or if you don't have a slowdown potion, you can use the Ender Pearl to land with less damage. If you don't have the Ender Pearl anymore, you can get more Ender Pearl by killing some Ender Pearls.

Glass bottle

It is recommended that you bring enough [glass bottles, as they can be used to collect [dragon's breath and can be used to brew stagnant potions. Dragon Breath can be collected when it is sprayed to the ground and a lingering cloud appears, or when it hovers over a portal. And with the collection of dragon breath, the purple mist generated by the explosion of the ender dragon fireball will gradually disappear, which can also ensure your safety.

Bed =

It is recommended that you use some beds, as they can produce extremely damaging explosions that deal a lot of damage to the ender dragon. Since you can't retreat in time when activating the explosion, it is recommended to place some blocks in front of you as cover, such as cobblestone.

TNT and Flint or Redstone Power

This method is too expensive, unless you have sufficient TNT, use the previous scheme. TNT is deployed when the dragon leaves the End Pool and detonates when the dragon returns, dealing a lot of damage and is extremely destructive. However, the ender dragon can destroy TNT, so it will not be ideal if it is not handled properly. In addition to flint, TNT can also be detonated with Power.

Respawn Anchor

Similar to a bed, Respawn Anchor produces an explosion. This method is extremely costly, but the respawn anchor will not be destroyed by dragons, the damage is higher than TNT, and it can be stacked compared to the bed, which is suitable for high-efficiency dragon fighting in the late survival period.

Bucket

When the Descent Potion is not added to the game, many players will choose to put Water when they land, to reduce the damage of being thrown by the dragon into the sky. And the water can force back the ender and cause damage to it. Since there is probably not enough water, it is recommended that everyone make an unlimited water backup in a place where dragons will not touch.

Battle

Found a portal

All players who intend to start fighting the Ender Dragon will need Ender Eye, as they need to be used to locate and activate [Ender Portal, which can be found in a Fortress. In order to make one, you need a Ender Pearl and a pinch Flame Powder. It is recommended to carry at least 20 Ender Eyes, as 12 need to activate portals (in the worst case of luck), and the others are used to find strongholds.

Fortress

To find the stronghold, throw your Ender Eye and it will fly in the direction of the nearest stronghold. Then it will fall to the ground, at which point you can pick it up and throw it again. However, there is a 20% chance that the Ender Eye will disappear in flight, so please bring at least 10 spare Ender Eyes. Follow the Ender Eye until they fly down and into the ground, which indicates that you have found the fortress. If the Eye of the Ender leads you to a village, the fortress is most likely underneath the village. In either case, dig down until you see the stone bricks. Dig up the stone bricks and put in the torches. You've arrived at the fortress.

Ways to save the Eye of the Ender

in Java Edition}Press F3 to open Debug Screen, or in Bedrock Edition} to open "Show Coordinates" in the world settings to record the current X and Z coordinates. Throw an ender eye, aim at it, when it flies to the highest place, walk forward for a distance (not too short), stop and record the current X and Z coordinates again (both records are recommended to be accurate to 3 decimal places to reduce error).

Now you have identified a straight line with two points, and the X and Z coordinates of the entrance to the fortress correspond to a point on this line.

Go farther away from the line and confirm a new line in a similar way. Then find the coordinates of the intersection of the two lines and go straight to that point. To move around this point, refer to the above to find the fortress.

Portal Room

Explore the Stronghold until you find the Portal Room, collecting all the [Loot in Chests. As soon as you see the portal room, you run into it, and a Silverfish [Brush Cage] is placed in a stone staircase that leads you up. Kill all the silverfish in the room and destroy the spawn cage. If you want, you can place stone tiles stairs in an empty seat on the stairs. This will make it more intact.

In order to activate the portal, simply insert the Eye of the Ender into each End Portal Frame. Some frames may have been inserted into the Eye of the Ender. When all the Ender Eyes are inserted, the portal will be activated with a loud sound similar to the roar of a dragon, reminding you that you are ready to fight the Ender Dragon to the death.

Active End Portal

An End Portal room in a stronghold, which has been activated

This trip to the End is a one-way trip, don't jump in without the items you need to fight in your shortcut bar.

  • Your sword
  • Your bow or crossbow
  • Your pickaxe
  • Your golden apple
  • Two bottles of slow-down potion
  • A set of ender pearls
  • Two sets of blocks
  • Your snow or iron
  • Carved pumpkin

Make sure you wear your full armor, take off your helmet, change into a pumpkin, take your ender pearl, and enter the portal.

Just in case, set up a spawn point next to the portal before you go, and prepare spare gear and blocks in the chest.

Enter the End

As soon as you enter the portal, you teleport to the end and have no time to retreat. When you reach the end, you will be teleported to a 5×5 obsidian platform. This platform is often generated on island surfaces, so you can walk straight down. If it spawns underground, use your pickaxe to dig it up. If it's far from the island, you can use the Ender Pearl to teleport to the island to save your blocks.

Sometimes the main island is so large that it's likely that you won't even be able to find the ender dragon. Search the island repeatedly until the health bar of the ender dragon appears at the top of the screen.

Come to the island as fast as you can, and if you spot a dragon crashing towards you, jump away or dig down. If you are thrown into the air, drink a bottle of Descent Potion or use the Ender Pearl and Water.

Stronghold navigation

Iron Door in Stronghold

This iron door is flush with the wall, and therefore leads away from the entrance staircase. It is also at the bottom of a straight staircase which always generates downward from the entrance.

Stone Bricks in Stronghold

This iron door is indented into the wall, meaning it leads toward the entrance staircase.

While exploring the hallways of the stronghold, a few techniques can be used to help not to get lost. First, notice the placement of oak and iron doors. If the door is flush with the wall, the same way it's facing when you place the door between the walls, it means this doorway leads further from the entrance staircase mentioned above. If the door is carved into the wall, that means the doorway leads toward the entrance staircase. So if you enter the stronghold from somewhere other than the entrance staircase, it is recommended that you trace along the carved-in doors until you find a spiral staircase going upward that is not connected to a room above. This is the entrance staircase of the stronghold, and exploration from this point onward becomes much easier.

A few things to keep in mind when exploring the stronghold:

  • Doors flush with the wall always lead away from the entrance staircase, as seen on the right.
  • Both spiral and straight (cobblestone) staircases can only lead downward from the entrance staircase.
  • The entrance point of a five-way crossing is always the one opposite to the arch.
  • The portal room is at most 5 corridors from the entrance, so if you have go too far without fiding the portal room, you are likely to be on the wrong way, so you should head back to the entrance and start exploring a different route.
  • If you heard the sound of silverfish or lava, the portal room is likely nearby.

Portal room

Keep exploring the stronghold's hallways until you find the end portal room. Collect any chest loot that you find. As soon as you see the portal room, run in as quick as you can, as an active silverfish spawner sits in the broken staircase that leads up to the portal. Kill all the silverfish in the room and destroy the spawner. You can also place a stone brick stair in the empty space to complete the staircase, which eases the walk up to the portal. It is also recommended that you quickly turn the lava into obsidian because silverfish could emerge from the blocks beside the lava basin and it could cause you to be engulfed in lava.

To activate the portal, simply insert an eye of ender into each portal frame. Some of the portal frames may already contain an eye. Once all of the portal frames have been filled, the portal activates and emits a loud, dragon-like roar, "reminding" that you are about to fight the ender dragon.

Active End Portal

The end portal room in a stronghold, with the portal activated.

Since the trip to the End is one-way, don't even think about jumping into the portal until you rearrange your inventory so that your hotbar contains the following:

  • Sword
  • Bow or crossbow
  • Pickaxe
  • Golden apples
  • A slow falling potion
  • Ender pearls
  • Food (a full stack)
  • Blocks (a full stack)
  • Empty bottles

Put all of the items that you don't need in the fight, such as the loot found in the stronghold, into your ender chest. Pick up the ender chest using your Silk Touch pickaxe. Make sure you are wearing all of the armor, but instead of your helmet, wear the carved pumpkin. It is also recommended that you place a chest with things like: a chestplate (any type), leggings (any type), a shield, and a sword. You can use these items if you die, however if you have the gamerule "keep inventory" on, you do not need these. Holding the ender pearls, enter the portal when ready.

End Outer Islands

If you feel that you can't fight the Ender Dragon with your equipment, you can first travel to the Outer Islands of the End to develop and get some combat boosters.

You can prepare more than 1,000 blocks to ride from the main island, but this is inefficient and dangerous (the ender dragon will destroy the block, the ender may lift the block, and you can easily stumble and fall into the void (which can be avoided by stealth, but will still be knocked back and fall into the void)).

You can also build a Aircraft to go to the outer islands, but be careful of the Ender Dragon collision when building, it can make you fall into the void, and it will also burn the aircraft you just built.

It is recommended to collect these supplies upon arrival:

  • Purple Songguo: Quickly escapes when attacked by the Enderman or knocked by the Ender Dragon, and restores satiety by the way.
  • Elytra (appears on the item display box in [End Ship): When fighting the Ender Dragon, you can fly up to attack or move, making you more flexible, but note that you cannot use the breastplate when using the elytra, and your defense will be relatively reduced.
  • Enchanted diamond equipment and weapons (appears in chests in End City). See Tutorial/Conquering the End City.

After that, you can fly back with elytra (preferably with fireworks rocket), build another flying machine and fly back, or walk back along the way you came from.

Terrain

Since falling into Void will die and clear your drops, it is recommended that you fight in the center of the island unless you have to go somewhere else to destroy the End Crystal. The dragon's knockback is so strong that you should be at least 20 blocks away from it from any edge. In case you fall, you should immediately throw more than one ender pearl. If you're fast enough, it may teleport you out of the void and get you back to the island. If your Ender Pearl is in the shortcut bar and you can get it quickly, or if you've already drunk a bottle of Slowdown Potion, the chances are higher.

You can try throwing Ender Pearl into the sky and shooting another [[[arrow] at it]. When the ender pearl touches the arrow, you will be teleported. This little trick may not do much (and it can be hard), but it provides players with new ways to take to the skies.

Battle Assist

You can use Battle Support Creatures as they will help you fight the Ender Man as you fight the dragon. It is recommended that you use [Iron Golem instead of tamed [Wolf because they have more health and more attack.

Before fighting the ender dragon, you can wear carved pumpkin to avoid the ender man and reorganize your inventory so that your shortcut bar contains the following items:

  • weapons
  • Bow or crossbow
  • pickaxe
  • Golden apples
  • Descend potion or bucket
  • A set of ender pearls
  • A set of blocks
  • food
  • Empty bottle

Once your shortcut bar is organized, take off the pumpkin and put on your helmet. Now you can start challenging the mighty Ender Dragon.

Destroy the End Crystal

It is necessary to destroy the End Crystals because they will return blood to the End Dragon. If all the crystals are intact, the dragon will recover faster than you think. With part of the crystals still present, defeating the dragons is possible, as long as the dragons have enough time to stay away from them. But it is usually recommended to destroy all the crystals. The crystals on the tallest towers can be hard to see, but when dragons are nearby, the healing beams they emit reveal their location. You can try to destroy the End Crystal when it gives the dragon back blood, as this will deal 10♥♥♥♥♥ damage to the dragon.

TheEnderdragon

Enderdragon Healed by the End Crystal

Remote Attack

The best way to destroy [End Crystal is to blast them with a bow or crossbow. You should adjust your position so that you can see at least part of the crystal. You'll have to aim above the crystal, notice where the arrow goes, and adjust your target accordingly. Firearrow Enchantments make it easier to see where the arrows are shooting. Even if you don't see the explosion effect, be aware that the crystal may have been destroyed. Alternatively, if your bow does not have infinite enchantments, Snowball can be used instead of bows and arrows. You're better off shooting crystals on the shortest towers first, as they're the easiest to shoot and you can save your ender pearls and blocks. in Java Edition If you encounter an End Crystal protected by an iron railing, you can go under the Obsidian Tower and shoot the End Crystal through the gap under the iron railing, and you can also take the opportunity to collect the iron railing.

Climbing obsidian pillars

Trying to climb these towers is extremely dangerous. Even if it's built with materials that dragons can't destroy, dragons can easily knock you down when you're climbing. However, it is very necessary for in Bedrock Edition to climb the obsidian pillar of the End Crystal surrounded by an iron railing, because arrows cannot pass through the gap under the iron railing, so the End Crystal protected by the iron railing is not afraid of shooting from the ground.

Using the Ender Pearl is faster and safer than building blocks, as dragons may knock you down as you hit blocks. One trick to measure where your ender pearl lands is to fill your bow and shoot an arrow at the top edge of the cage. If you throw an ender pearl at exactly the same angle, it will hit a block down the arrow trajectory and hit the side of the cage. Then, use your pickaxe to dig out the iron railing. If your armor is good enough or has the Resistance Boost effect, just slash the crystal with your sword. Otherwise, blast it with your bow or crossbow a few blocks away from the crystal.

Another method is to use Trident with the Torrent spell, pour a bucket of water close to the obsidian pillar, and then stand in the water and throw the trident vertically, the player can fly to a fairly high position, giving the opportunity to destroy the End Crystal.

You can use a [bucket]] to climb obsidian pillars by loading up the water source and quickly pouring it on a taller block, so that you can avoid fall damage and quickly re-ascend even if you accidentally fall.

Once the crystals in the cage are destroyed, do not go down any further, as some towers are taller than the cage is in. Place a few blocks at the top of the tower and blast the taller crystals with a bow or crossbow. If the Ender Dragon knocks you down, you can try throwing the Ender Pearl at the tallest tower surrounded by iron railings. If you're at the top of the tallest tower, you can check how many crystals have exploded and how many remain. Also, it's a great place to shoot dragons from a long range.

Finally, there is one more caveat: Beware of the dragon's breath!

Defeat the Ender Dragon

When all (or most) of the crystals are destroyed, you can start fighting dragons. There are many ways to hit it, but there are also many things to be aware of.

Treatment

The Ender Dragon has four attack styles: Impact, Flapping Wings, Dragon Breath Attack, and Ender Dragon Fireball. The more crystals you destroy, the more often the ender dragon will pounce on you. It deals 10♥♥♥♥♥ damage when it hits you head-on (normal mode), but it only deals {hp|5}} damage when it flaps you with its wings (normal mode), Dragon Breath deals {hp|3}} damage per second, and Ender Dragon Fireball deals 6♥♥♥ damage per second. The Ender Dragon has a very strong knockback ability and can knock you to deadly heights in the air, so when your descent effect wears off, continue to drink the Descent Potion, they will make you immune to all drop damage.

Check your health at any time. Once you have taken 8♥♥♥♥ damage (or higher), hide behind the Obsidian Tower and eat a golden apple. If you run out of health left, use your healing potion to instantly restore a large amount of life. If you run out of Undead Totem in your hand and you still have a totem, then immediately swap it into your deputy and immediately go into battle.

Dragon Breath

Collecting Dragon Breath in battle is very useful as it can be used to craft Stranded Potion, and it is recommended to collect Dragon Breath if you want to fight the dragon again, or if you want to fight Wither.

When the dragon is breathing, or after launching [Ender Dragon Fireball, there will be lingering purple clouds on the ground, which is the dragon's breath, and they can be collected. When collecting dragon breath, simply aim at the dragon breath and use glass bottle, and you can collect the dragon breath as if it were filled with water bottle. However, do not stand in the Dragon's Breath while you are collecting, as the Dragon's Breath will cause continuous damage. Dragon Breath is stackable, so you can collect as much Dragon Breath as you want in battle. Usually 12 bottles of dragon breath can be collected from the purple mist produced by one ender dragon fireball, and 2-4 bottles of dragon breath can be collected from the mist ejected by the ender dragon melee during close combat.

Attacks

When the dragon flies in the sky, you can shoot it with bow or crossbow. However, the dragon is really difficult to shoot because it can fly very fast and in an uncertain direction (possibly a sudden turn), and if you don't anticipate well, your arrow will shoot empty. It is recommended to aim at a point in front of the dragon's flight trajectory, because then it will fly forward and be hit by an arrow just in time. Try to shoot it mainly in the head, as dragons take the most damage when attacked. If you believe in your shooting skills, try firing [Fireworks Rockets made of multiple [Fireworks Stars with a crossbow, which will deal more damage.

The more End Crystal you destroy, the more often the dragon will perch above Portal. When it perches on a portal, it is immune to arrows and you will be forced to slash it with a sword or throw it at it with a trident. It is recommended to hit as many critical hits as possible, as this can deal more [damage. Drinking Power Potion is recommended because the dragon may inhabit the portal after it has circled the obsidian pillar, and you can use the [Power Effect provided by the potion to deal more damage.

After a few minutes, you'll start noticing that the dragon's behavior has changed. It perches on the portal once a turn, so you should make sure you always have a power effect when the dragon inches. Remember how the dragon attacks so you can deal higher damage for the rest of the battle (remember, never attack in front of the dragon while it is perched, as the dragon will release a large amount of dragon breath directly in front of it when it is perched). You should also have a slow descent effect, as the dragon has the potential to throw you to a lethal height java} at once.

When a dragon inhabits a portal, you can stand directly below it and constantly jump for critical hits, and move around the pillar in the center of the portal from time to time to avoid Dragon Breath.

You can also try setting up mechanisms around the dragon when it leaves End Pool, such as stacking TNT or placing the bed and causing it to explode, dealing damage when the dragon returns.

In older versions, players could place Ship or Minecart on pillars to jam the dragon and then attack. It is no longer valid.

When you successfully deal {hp|200}} damage, the dragon is defeated and generates four unmatched rewards.

Rewards

When the dragon is defeated, it floats into the air and disintegrates before your eyes, shooting bright purple light from its body. Then it explodes, makes a faint sound, and gradually disappears into the endless darkness where it once existed and now disappears with almost no trace. Four precious rewards will also appear.

Experience =

EnderDragonDissolve

after the Ender Dragon was defeated

After the ender dragon disappears, a large number of experience balls will fall out of the air. These experience balls are equivalent to 12,000 experience points, enough to upgrade you from level 0 to level 68. Some experience balls may fall into the portal, so you can make a few turns around the portal and then sneak around the portal's border to collect them all. Since more experience is required to level up, you will have enough experience to craft more than 10 level 30 enchantments. You don't have to get the enchantment you need; You can enchant other items as spares. It is recommended that you enchant your spare items as soon as you return home in case you lose all the valuable experience levels you have gained when you die.

Dragon egg

The second reward is priceless, unique Dragon Egg. It cannot be obtained directly, because if you left-click on it, the egg will be teleported away.

You can first left-click on it to teleport it to a End Stone. If you can't find it, you can follow the purple teleportation particles. When picking up the dragon egg, you can place a torch in the bottom two blocks of the egg and break the end stone where it is located. Since the dragon egg will fall like sand, it will land on torches and be destroyed into collectible items.

Or, if you have a piston and [[tie rod], point the piston against the egg, put a square behind the piston, and place the tie rod on the square in contact with the piston, pulling the tie rod. Dragon eggs will still be destroyed into collectible items. To prevent the dragon egg from falling into the portal, you need to cover the portal with blocks.

You can use either of these two methods to successfully get dragon eggs. In addition to serving as a trophy to indicate that you have defeated the Ender Dragon, due to its different characteristics from other gravity blocks, some devices may also need it, and dragon eggs can be copied using the methods in [and Item Copy. It can also be used as a beautiful ornament or a symbolic item in your base trophy room.

End Folding Gate

Perhaps the biggest reward for defeating the Ender Dragon is End Folding Gate, which spawns when the dragon disappears. You can only enter by crawl[Java Edition only], speedswim] or using ender pearl because it is too narrow and only one block high. This entrance is probably the only reason you need to fight the dragon, as it allows you to enter Outer Island, which is where you can find End City, Purple Song, Elytra, and Dragon Head.

Return portal

After the battle, the most important reward is Return to the Portal, the only place where you can safely get home. It is always there, but only activated when the dragon is killed. This door looks like a fountain, consisting of bedrock], surrounded by torches around the bedrock pillar in the middle, and the "water" of the fountain is made of Portal Block, which can carry you home.

When you enter the portal, you will see End Poem, telling you that you have "finished" the game. You will then be reborn on spawn point in Overworld, which may be your initial respawn point or bedside at your base.

Attempting to climb to the tops of the towers is extremely dangerous. Even if you build up using a dragon-proof material, such as end stone, the dragon can easily knock you off while you are climbing. Because of this, it is not recommended to climb the towers until the dragon is perched and you have drunk another slow falling potion. However, it is necessary to get up to the top of the caged towers somehow, because shooting them from the ground is ineffective unless you have the skill to find the gap between the obsidian and iron bars. If you choose to use the method of pillaring up with blocks, place water below so that in the event of you getting knocked off the platform, you can land safely in the water. Additionally, if you use water, and you have brought a Riptide trident, launch yourself into the air and land on the tops of the towers. However, this technique may be unreliable.

It is quicker and safer to use ender pearls than building up. One trick to measure your ender pearl shot is to fully charge your bow or crossbow and shoot an arrow just over the top edge of the cage. Throwing an ender pearl at the exact same angle can strike one block below the arrow's trajectory, teleporting you to the side of the cage. Break into the cage with your pickaxe, and wait for the dragon to fly away, since it cannot break the iron bars. If you have strong enough armor (ideally with Blast Protection) and are affected by Absorption, hit the caged crystal with your sword. Otherwise, build a safety platform few blocks away from the crystal and shoot it with your bow or crossbow. Alternatively, you can use TNT to destroy the crystals with no need to break through the iron bars at all — simply place one piece of TNT on top of the cage, light it with a flint and steel or a button, and then ender pearl back down (or retreat to the safety platform if you built one).

Once the caged crystal has been destroyed, don't go back down if you are still on the tower, because some towers are taller than the caged ones. Build a few blocks above the caged tower and shoot the taller ones with your bow or crossbow. If the dragon knocks you off, and you are not affected by Slow Falling, you should use an ender pearl to break your fall if you didn't start with water. Throw a pearl back to the top of the caged tower and try to shoot the taller ones again. You could also throw a pearl to the tops of the tall towers and destroy the crystals with your sword. If you are on the tallest tower, you can check how many crystals have been destroyed and how many remain. It is also a good spot to snipe the dragon.

Killing the dragon

If you are not sure that you have destroyed all of the crystals, let the dragon fly away. If you see a healing beam, then there is still a crystal left. Once the last crystals have been destroyed you can start to attack the dragon. You can also swap out your extra blocks with your water bucket, because you do not need the blocks anymore. There are many ways to attack the dragon, but there are many things to watch out for.

Healing

The dragon has three types of attacks: body attacks, the breath attack, and dragon fireballs. The more crystals you have destroyed, the more often the dragon attacks you. It inflicts 15♥ × 7.5 damage if it hits you with its head on hard mode, but its wings inflict only 7♥♥♥♥ damage (without armor). The dragon's breath inflicts 6♥♥♥ damage per second. The dragon has an extremely high knockback ability and can throw the player into the air to fatal heights, so they should keep drinking their slow falling potions when they run out. They make the player immune to all fall damage.

Keep track of health at all times. If you take at least 12♥ × 6 damage at a time, hide behind a tower and eat a golden apple. You should use your healing potions if you're on the brink of death to recover instantly. If the totem of undying in your hand goes off, and you have another totem, quickly throw it in your off hand and resume fighting immediately.

Dragon's breath

DragonBreathAttack

The ender dragon perching and releasing the dragon's breath.

It is extremely useful to collect the dragon's breath during the fight because it can be used to make lingering potions, which can help if you want to fight the dragon again, or if you want to fight the wither (if you chose to fight the dragon first).

To collect the dragon's breath, wait for the dragon to perch and do its breath attack or shoot a dragon fireball, either of which puff out into lingering purple clouds. The only difference is that the dragon's breath comes instantly from the breath attack, whereas you must wait for the fireball to slam into the ground. To collect it, simply hold out an empty bottle and scoop up the clouds in the same way you would fill a bottle with water. However, you should avoid making contact with the clouds, because the clouds cause damage. Armor cannot protect you from damage from the dragon's breath, because it counts as magic damage. The dragon's breath is stackable, so you should collect as much as possible. Additionally, the leftover bottles from your used potions can increase your collection.

Attacking

While the dragon is flying you can shoot it with your bow or crossbow. However, the dragon is difficult to shoot because it can fly fast, and shots miss if they don't line up properly. It is recommended to shoot at a spot in the dragon's flight trajectory, which is the area in front of it, and it flies far enough to get hit by the arrow. Try to mainly shoot it in the head because the dragon takes the most damage on its head.

The more crystals you have destroyed, the more often the dragon dives at the portal. When it's hovering over the portal, it is immune to arrow damage, and you are forced to use your sword. Here, get as many critical hits as possible, which deal more damage, and it is possible to get more critical hits when you have Slow Falling. It is also suggested to drink a strength potion because you can inflict more damage using the strength the potion provides.

After a few minutes, the dragon's behavior changes. It dives at the portal once for every circle, so you should make sure that you always have the strength from the potions when the dragon perches. Remember the pattern of the dragon’s attacks, so that your attacks can be efficient for the rest of the battle.

Once 200♥ × 100 damage has been inflicted, the dragon dies and drops four rare rewards.

Alternative Strategy

A alternative approach (for Java edition only) to defeating the ender dragon is based on trapping her in downflowing water while she is attempting to perch. This allows the player to easily attack the dragon until she dies, for example, by using a bow.

The rewards

When killed, the dragon floats upward and disintegrates, with bright purple beams of light erupting from her body. She then explodes and causes a sound effect to play that gradually fades away into the infinite darkness of the End, leaving almost no trace that it was ever there. Four rewards then appear.

Experience

EnderDragonDissolve

What the ender dragon looks like a few seconds after being killed.

After the dragon disappears, experience orbs rain from the sky. These orbs can take the player from level 0 to level 68, which is worth 12,000 experience points. Some of the orbs may fall into the portal, so run a few laps around the portal and then sneak on the rim of the portal to grab some more. Since it takes progressively more experience to gain a level at higher levels, the player gains enough to make over ten level 30 enchantments. The best time for the player to enchant extra equipment is as soon as they go back home, in case they die and lose all of the precious levels they have earned (unless you have a lot of experience farms to get more levels than that).

Dragon egg

The second reward is the dragon egg. It sits on top of the portal when it first appears. However, it cannot be broken directly, as the egg teleports if the player attempts to do so.

Instead, touch the egg once and let it teleport to a block of end stone. If the player can't find it, follow the purple teleportation particles. To pick up the egg, place a torch two blocks underneath it, and break the end stone block it is sitting on. Since the egg obeys the law of gravity, it falls onto the torch and break as a collectible item. If you forget to bring a torch with you, take one from the exit portal frame or use any other transparent/half block like a button, slab or pressure plate.

Alternatively, if the player has a piston and a source of redstone (such as a lever), place the piston facing the egg and power it with the redstone source. The egg still breaks as a collectible item. To prevent the egg from falling into the portal, cover the portal with blocks.

If the player uses either of these strategies, they obtain the dragon egg successfully. It currently has no use other than as a trophy to show that the player has defeated the ender dragon, but it can serve as a beautiful decoration or an addition to a trophy room at the player’s base.

End gateway portal

Perhaps the biggest reward of defeating the ender dragon is the end gateway portal, which generates after the dragon dies. The player cannot walk through it normally because it is too narrow to walk through. The easiest way to enter it is to throw an ender pearl through it, but it is also possible to sprint-swim through it in if the player has a water bucket or fly through it with an elytra if the player already has one. In Village and Pillage, the player can also use trapdoors to crawl through the portal‌[JE only]. This portal is sometimes considered the only reason to need to fight the dragon, because it gives the player easy access to the End's outer islands, which is the only place where the player can find end cities, shulkers, chorus trees, the elytra and the dragon head. Without the end gateway, they are about 1,000 blocks away from the main fighting area against the dragon (in any direction). Note that you can live in the outer islands and just wander around, and you can find a lot of treasure. If you go too far and you want to get back, you can jump into the void as long as you have "keep inventory" on.

Exit portal

Since the fight takes place in the End, the most important reward is the exit portal, which is the only way back home. It appears all the time, but only activates when the dragon is killed. The portal looks like a fountain made of bedrock, with torches on the sides, and the "water" of the fountain is made of the portal blocks that returns the player back home.

When the player jumps into the portal, they are treated to the End Poem, which tells them that they have basically "completed" the game. Even though it can be skipped, it is still highly recommended to read it. The player then respawns in the Overworld at the respawn point, which can be the world spawn point, a respawn anchor, or the last bed the player had slept in. The player can then safely return to base.

The rematch

To have a rematch with the ender dragon, the player must respawn it using end crystals. To make one, the player needs seven pieces of glass, an eye of ender, and a ghast tear. The player must go to the Nether to get some of these materials.

To respawn the dragon, place four end crystals one on each side of the exit portal. The crystals that are placed instantly deactivate the portal, shoot beams at the tops of the towers, and reset the crystals and cages on the towers. Afterward, all of the crystals shoot beams into the sky in harmony. The player hears an extremely loud roar and see a massive explosion, which resurrects the dragon to begin the fight again.

To respawn the dragon, place the end crystals in the configuration shown in the image below.

Respawn ender dragon

The positions of end crystals on the exit portal needed to respawn the ender dragon.

Subsequent dragons drop less experience and do not drop another dragon egg, but it is still useful because it is the only way to obtain more dragon's breath. Also, it creates another end gateway, which can be used to find more end cities more easily, but the player must prepare the same equipment all over again. However, if the player does want to fight again, the player can use new equipment that could not be used in the first battle.
