Exploring the Endemon City is useful to allow players to get some valuable loot. However, it is also difficult and dangerous.

Find the End City

Endmap

an end map

Before finding the End City, players need to defeat the End Dragon and reach the End Outer Island. There is a void about 1,000 blocks wide between the outer island and the main island, and you can build a bridge up to 1,000 blocks long to reach the outer island. However, you can also throw the Ender Pearl at the End Folding Gate to teleport to the Outer Islands of the End.

When you reach the outer islands of the end, you can use the map to keep track of the islands you have explored. In order to record as many islands as possible on the map, stay away from the void between the main island and the outer islands before drawing the map.

In order to travel between islands, you'll need to build bridges using blocks, using [Sneak when building to prevent yourself from falling into Void. Ender Pearl can also be teleported, so don't worry if you accidentally throw the Ender Pearl into the void, in which case the Ender Pearl will not teleport the player. However, try not to make this mistake too much, in any case, you will waste an ender pearl for it.

You can also bring Ender Chest to store valuable items in the End City, but this is not necessary, as the End Chest may also spawn in the End City, and you can directly put the loot you get into it (if you want to take the goat, remember to use a pickaxe with a precise collection enchantment, otherwise only eight obsidians will be dropped!). )。

There are some faster ways to find End City than to search each island individually, but they are more or less cheating. One of them is to use the command /locate structure end_city.

This tool can also quickly search for their coordinates (requires you to provide the seed of the map).

If you don't want to build bridges, you can build a engine, using Mucus Blocks, [[Pistons], [[Sticky Pistons], and [Redstone Blocks]].

If you already have Elytra and some Fireworks Rocket, you can find the End City by flying around, and if you run out of fireworks rockets, land on the island as soon as possible, otherwise you will slowly fall into the void!

Recommended Equipment

Before conquering the End City, it is recommended to bring the following items:

 • enchanted at least Sharp III, snatched III's sword. Preferably diamond or Nether alloy.
 • a axe
 • A handful pickaxe. It is best to have Efficiency and [Durability]] enchantments for digging for the End Stone to replenish the block, or to quickly create a safe space after accidentally provoking the Enderman. If you plan to take the ender chest inside, you need to have the Precision Collection enchantment.

} a bow, preferably with power and infinite enchantments.

 • } Multiple sets arrow, if your bow has infinite enchantment, you can bring less.
 • shield, recommended with durability and/or experience to fix enchantments

Full set armor, at least iron. Boots should preferably have drop cushioning enchantments, the higher the level, the better (if you're not good at dealing with endermen, wear diamonds or Nether alloys, and preferably have protective enchantments)

 • Carved Pumpkin (Optional, but if you want to challenge the enderman to look straight ahead, please bring one.) If you find the viewing angle inconvenient, you can hide the GUI, but this will also hide your handheld objects and shortcut bar. Some texture packs can also be used, but there is an element of cheat in doing so)
 • } lots ender pearls, teleport to the ground while you are suspended in the air
 • bucket, bring at least two, get unlimited water resources (reduce fall damage when carried very high by the floating effect, or flow downstream under the influence of the floating effect. It is also safe to stand in the water when facing the enderman. )
 • Ender Box, which is very important, is used when your inventory is full, and it is very, very likely to happen, especially if you don't have [Shadow Box.
 • } There are many groups of buildable blocks, such as cobblestone, the more the better.
 • Jump and Regenerate Potion (optional)
 • High hunger recovery and high saturation [food, such as steak or cooked pork chops, if possible, bring some golden carrots. Golden Apple provides high saturation, as well as Health Regeneration and damage absorption, so it is recommended to bring some Golden Apple.
 • } some milk bucket, the more the better. If you get hit by latent shells, you can drink them so you don't levitate. Unfortunately, buckets can't be stacked, so remember not to bring unimportant items so you can bring more.
 • fishing rod], in Java Edition hooks those latent shells that fall and are far away from themselves. (Optional)

Workbench, to craft the Shadow Box when you have a Shadow Shell and a box. (Optional)

 • Purple Song, eaten before floating particularly high, can teleport to nearby solid blocks, but does not lift the floating effect and does not reset drop damage. (Optional)

Danger

Players usually don't get lost in the End City, because going down always leaves here, and going up always leads to deeper into the End City. But you may need to keep track of which End Cities you've explored. An easy way to do this is to destroy all the Candles you see so that you only need to explore the city of the Ends, where there are Candles.

You will find that there are almost no [[ender people] in the city of the end]. However, the biggest danger is Latent Shell, which is often the culprit behind your death. For safety, you'll carry Armor, preferably a full Nether Alloy armor, and have enchantments such as protection and drop cushioning, and Ender Pearl, which you can use to teleport when you fall. Shield can also block the missiles of the Shadow Shell, and sword and arrow attacks can destroy them.

Avoid falling

Most of the area of End City is in the air, and sometimes there are some spiraling parkour rooms, which can be fatal for players with poor parkour skills. Make sure you have more than half your health (10♥♥♥♥♥}) and wear Drop Cushion boots to explore the End when possible. When encountering this kind of room, you can choose parkour to go up, or you can do [pillar jump in the center of the room to reach the top. In the event of a serious mistake, be sure to use the Ender Pearl to teleport to the ground, or use the Landing Water to avoid landing damage.

Fighting with Latent Shell

Whenever you see a latent shell, wait for its shell to open (this happens after a few seconds) before attacking it, or use bow and [arrow]] to damage it at a distance. Otherwise, the damage to the Shadow Shell will be lower, and the fired arrows will bounce back (sometimes hurting themselves or accidentally injuring the enderman, causing unnecessary trouble), poisoned arrows, damage arrows and other medicine arrows can bring more damage. When fighting, try to place blocks (such as the Candle of the End) to block or attack missiles to destroy it.

If you get hit by a missile, make sure you don't float to a deadly height. To avoid this, drink milk as soon as possible, or hide below a [purple step and continue to attack the latent shell. When the float effect ends, you'll only drop a few blocks in height. If you're unlucky enough to finish your milk and are in an open area, it's best to quickly prepare a bucket of water in the shortcut bar, drop the water under your feet just before you hit the ground to avoid falling damage, or simply fight in the current. If you're not confident in your hand speed, use the Ender Pearl, but doing so will expose you to the Teleportation Damage of the Ender Pearl, so keep your health on before throwing the Ender Pearl.

If the Shadow Shell teleports out of view, continue to be wary of the missiles it launches and try to find it. in Java EditionF3+B Showing the Bio Collision Box would help. You can continue to kill it and collect Shadow Shell, or you can ignore it, but don't lose your life because of it.

Latent shells may spawn in inconvenient places, such as eaves, facades, or even the lower surface of a platform. In order to get close to it, you can use the Pillar Jump method, or use Bucket to descend. Try to snipe it when it opens the shell. If you are hit, place blocks when you can ascend and make sure you are directly above the pillar or in the current (be careful not to drown). You can also destroy blocks that the Latent Shell is attached to, forcing it to teleport and get to a location that is easy to hit.

Special rooms

As you explore the End City, you may find special rooms.

Treasure Room

If there are chests in a room, just collect the loot. Some rooms will have an ender chest next to the normal chest, which you will need to collect with a pickaxe with a precise gathering enchantment.

Huge latent shell room

There will be spiral steps at the edge of the huge latent shell room, which is good to come down but not easy to go up. An easy way to do this is to strut and kill the latent shells along the way. Another way is to have the Shadow Shell attack you, using the levitation effect to rise. If you want to do this, make sure you have good armor. After killing the Shadow Shell, descend the spiral steps or use the fishing rod to collect loot. You can also go up by throwing the Ender Pearl.

If this room forks at the top, place a ladder on the pillars to continue exploring.

End Ship

Before going to the End Ship, make sure you have [[necessary equipment] in the End City. Also, bring one Ender Pearl and some Purple Songfruit (both of which are easy to find in the Endlands).

In order to enter the End Ship, you'll need to throw an End Pearl at the top of the ship or take a cube over. Then go inside and reach the treasure room. First, you need kill Latent Shell. Then collect elytra and box loot.

Finally, reach the bow of the ship, which is where Dragon Head is located. Place blocks around and under the dragon's head first. Once it's safe, you can collect it and return to the ground, which can be achieved by building bridges to the dock, eating purple songs, or throwing ender pearls to teleport. Alternatively, you can go back with elytra, although this will consume fireworks rockets and some durability.

Since the End City has some "extreme" rare items, it is recommended to put things in Ender Box. If the End City does not contain an End Chest, but you bring one Eye of the Ender, a Diamond Pickaxe, and a Workbench, you can dig some Obsidian at the bottom of the End Ship and combine an End Chest.

Tactics

Shadow Shell and Shadow Box

The latent shell is very useful. You should collect it as much as you can, and you can use the chests in the End City to craft Shadow Box. You can use it to store good stuff. Also, once you have a set of items (e.g. with 64 emeralds, 64 diamonds, 64 dragon heads to go to the party) or some items that cannot be stacked (e.g. horse armor, armor, etc.), you can also place it in the Shadow Box. This allows you to store far more items and check the number of items that haven't reached a full group at any time, as well as those that aren't full. If you want to go crazy, you can empty the ender box to fill the latent box. This way you can have 63 tiles of storage, or 1701 (groups) of items, and in the unlikely event that you 108864 items. And that's not counting your inventory, additional items from add-ons and mods, and space in armor slots to store items. Unfortunately, the matryoshka method does not work here: the latent box cannot hold the latent box, and that method can provide a very large but limited storage space. Using the Shadow Box is a simple strategy for hoarders who will take many items from the End City. However, by placing a latent box in the ender box, you can quickly and conveniently bring items home.

Food

There should never be a time when you do not have food with you. Golden carrots, cooked porkchops and steak are some of the most nutritious foods possible, so bring at least a stack of either of these. Bread can also be found in loot chests that are found along the way to the end portal. You don't have to worry about running out of food, because you can just collect some chorus fruit along the way.

Golden apples and enchanted apples can also restore food points, but they are mainly used as a healing item. Eat your normal food if you do not have full saturation, and only use golden apples when you take damage. Only eat the enchanted golden apple if you are sure that you will die.

Potions

Potions are highly recommended to have when you explore a city, to enhance your performance. Strength potions, invisibility potions, and swiftness potions can be extremely useful. When you use an invisibility potion, mobs can still see you if you are wearing your armor. To stay safe, take off all of your armor before drinking it, and put it back on at least 30 seconds before the effect expires.

Potions can also be used for emergency healing, since you will take a lot of damage from shulkers and endermen. Healing potions and regeneration potions are different, because healing potions will heal you instantly, and regeneration potions will heal you gradually. However, both of them are great healing items, so bring at least six of each type of potion.

For centuries, in the countries of south and Southeast Asia the elephant has been an intimate part of the culture, economy and religion, and nowhere more so than in Thailand. Unlike its African cousin, the Asian elephant is easily domesticated . The rare so-called white elephants have actually lent the authority of kingship to its rulers and until the 1920s the national flag was a white elephant on a red background. To the early Western visitors the country's romantic name was “Land of the White Elephant”. Today, however, the story is very different. Out of work and out of land, the Thai elephant struggles for survival in a nation that no longer needs it. The elephant has found itself more or less abandoned by previous owners who have moved on to a different economic world and a westernized society. And while the elephant's problems began many years ago, now it rates a very low national priority. How this reversal from national icon to neglected animal came about is a tale of worsening environmental and the changing lives of the Thais themselves. According to Richard Lair, Thailand’s experts on the Asian elephant and author of the report Gone Astray, at the turn of the century there may well have beenas many as 100,000 domestic elephants in the country. In the north of Thailand alone it was estimated that more than 20,000 elephants were employed in transport, 1,000 of them alone on the road between the cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Saen. This was at a time when 90 per cent of Thailand was still forest—a habitat that not only supported the animals but also made them necessary to carry goods and people. Nothing ploughs through dense forest better than a massive but sure-footed elephant. By 1950 the elephant population had dropped to a still substantial 13,397, but today there are probably nomore than 3,800, with another 1,350 roaming free in the national parks. But now, Thailand’s forest coversonly 20 per cent of the land. This deforestation is the central point of the elephant's difficult situation, for it has effectively put the animals out of work. This century, as the road network grew, so the elephant's role as a beast of burden declined.

Before finding an end city, you must go to the outer islands. Between the central island and the outer islands is 1,000 blocks of deadly emptiness. Rather than building a 1,000 block long bridge, you can teleport yourself to an outer island by throwing an ender pearl into the end gateway or building a flying machine with redstone.

Once you arrive at the outer islands, start a map so you can see which islands you have already explored. Apply a compass to it so that you'll know where you are. Save the coordinates of your end gateway portal so that you don't get lost.

To cross a gap between islands, build a bridge, sneaking as you go to avoid falling into the void. Ender pearls can also do fine. Don't worry about them falling into the void, because they won't teleport the player if this happens. However, be very careful to not let them hit the sides of islands, as you will be teleported over the void, and it is very hard to save yourself from losing all your gear, and possibly valuable loot. This is more of a problem when traveling large distances. Try not to do this too much, as this will cost you ender pearls (though you can easily gain more by killing endermen if you run low).

It is recommended to bring an ender chest in case you find valuable items in the city, although some cities generate with ender chests in them, so you can just steal those ender chests.

There are much faster ways of finding end cities than going from island to island, like using websites such as Chunkbase.

If you already have elytra and some firework rockets, you can simply fly around to find end cities. If you run out of them, try to land on an island or you will slowly fall into the void, unless you throw an ender pearl onto an island.

Hazards

One is not likely to get lost in an end city, as down always leads out and up always leads in. However, it may be helpful to mark which towers have already been explored. A simple way to accomplish this is to break all the end rods you see as you explore so that you know that you only need to go to the towers with end rods.

You will see that there are few endermen in the cities. Instead, the main hazards in end cities are shulkers and falling. To stay safe, bring armor, preferably a full set of diamond/netherite armor with enchantments such as protection and feather falling, as well as ender pearls to teleport if you fall. Shields are also helpful, because they can block shulker bullets.

Avoiding falls

End city towers are relatively empty. They are 3x3 tubes with blocks only on the edges, not the corners. Because of the emptiness, it is easy to fall when jumping up a step. Place blocks in the corners to complete the staircase.

Fighting shulkers

Whenever you see a shulker, wait until it opens. Then, hit it repeatedly with a sword or use the bow and arrows to damage it from some distance away. Tipped arrows such as Arrow of Poison and Arrow of Harming are recommended because they can do more damage. Deflect or destroy its bullets if necessary. Fireworks can also be an effective weapon against these shulkers.

If you get hit with a bullet, you will also be inflicted with the levitation status effect but you shouldn't panic as there are a few methods to overcome the effect. See below for different methods you can use to avoid levitating too high:

 • Using a boat or minecart will prevent you from levitating while fighting shulkers. Because of the added hitbox a boat can also totally block shulker projectiles when hit from the side or below also making placing a boat a very effective method of avoiding knockback and damage and reducing most of the risk of fighting shulkers.
 • Deploying the elytra as the levitate effect wears off can ensure a safe landing.
 • Placing water before you hit the ground will negate any fall damage.
 • Using an Enderpearl to land as the levitation effect wears off.
 • Drinking Milk to remove the Levitation effect.
 • Using the protruding sections of the end city to prevent further levitation.
 • Consuming a Chorus Fruit as the levitation effect wears off will safely teleport you to a random flat surface in range, just be careful as it could also teleport you into another room with shulkers.
 • Slow Falling Potions and Feather Falling can also remove all or a very considerable amount of fall damage.

If the shulker teleports out of sight, the battle is essentially complete because the shulker cannot attack anymore. If you happen to encounter the same shulker later, you can finish it off and collect the shell.

Shulkers may appear in inconvenient places, such as rooftops, outside walls, and even the undersides of platforms. To get to these shulkers, pillar jump to the shulker, or descend using sand. Try to shoot the shulker only if it opens otherwise the arrow will not deal any damage. If you get hit, place blocks and as you go up, and make sure you are directly over your pillar. You can also break the shulker's support block, thus forcing it to teleport, hopefully to a better location.

Shulkers can help you get up some end city watchtowers quickly. If you want to get up the top of a end city tower and don't want to pillar jump or use a ender pearl you can go provoke some shulkers so they can give you the levitation effect and you quickly go to the center of the tower, float up, and arrive at your desired destination. Make sure you press "Z" on your keyboard to see how long the levitation effect can last, and before the effect runs out quickly go to an end rod to prevent falling down. Using this way to get up the tower isn't 100% safe, but it can be effective if you don't want to risk pillar jumping in case a shulker hits you or accidentally flying the ender pearl to somewhere else.

Saving some shulkers

Although it may be attempting to kill all the shulkers in an end city, ideally you want to intentionally keep some shulkers alive, because they can be useful in their living form. Shulkers can be useful in two cases: for the "How Did We Get Here?" advancement, and for building a shulker farm.

In Java Edition, the hidden advancement "How Did We Get Here?" requires the player to obtain most obtainable status effects at once, including Levitation. Because shulkers are the only source of the Levitation effect, which only lasts 10 seconds, it is necessary to transport a shulker to the Overworld in close range with sources of other rare effects.

A more practical use of the shulker is a shulker farm, which is the only way to obtain shulker shells and shulker boxes renewably, and is a must-have for long-term multiplayer servers. In Java Edition, the shulkers produced from shulker farms can further be used to construct a mob switch, which can prevent hostile mobs from spawning elsewhere in the same dimension.

To save (and later transport) the shulkers, the best technique is to capture them in boats. Because they cannot walk like most mobs do, shulkers must be transported in vehicles like boats and minecarts. Putting them in boats also keeps them from teleporting.

Special rooms

When exploring end cities, you may find special rooms.

Treasure room

EndCityTreasure2

This is what a treasure room looks like inside of an end city, with 1 chest and 1 ender chest.

If a room has chests, simply collect the loot. Some rooms will have an ender chest beside the regular chest. Bring a pickaxe with the silk touch enchantment to pick these up.

Large shulker room

Large shulker rooms have a spiral staircase around the edge, but it is much easier to go down than up. An easier way is to pillar jump, killing shulkers as you go. Another way of going up is letting a shulker hit you, use the levitation effect. If you want to try this, make sure that you have a good armor. After killing the shulkers, go down the spiral staircase and collect the shulker loot, or use a fishing rod.

An easy strategy to use is to sit at the top of the stairs leading to the room, looking down, and blocking with your shield. At first, almost every bullet will hit you, but as you float up, more will be caught by the shield. Make sure you keep yourself aligned to the middle of the room, and then land at the top with the loot chests. This strategy is effective because it causes the majority of the shulkers to start fighting each other. Generally speaking, by the time you finish raiding the loot chests, most of the shulkers are either dead or severely weakened.

If the room branches out at the top, place ladders along the walls and continue exploring.

End ship

Before going to the ship, make sure you have the necessary equipment for end cities. In addition, have an ender pearl and some chorus fruit (both of which are fairly easy to obtain in the end).

To enter, you need to throw the ender pearl onto the roof of the ship or build a one block wide bridge to the ship. Then, you can go inside, and then to the treasure chamber. First, kill the shulker. Then collect the elytra and chest loot.

Finally, go to the bow of the ship (the front), where the dragon head is. Place blocks around and under the head. Once it is secure, you can mine the head and return to the ground by building a bridge back to the pier, eating chorus fruit, or teleporting using an ender pearl. Alternatively, you can use your elytra to get back to the pier.

Because end ships contain extremely rare items, it is recommended to put the items in an ender chest. If the end city doesn't have one, but you brought an eye of ender, a diamond pickaxe and a crafting table, just mine the obsidian on the bottom of the ship and then you can make an ender chest. Just like the dragon head, mine the purpur blocks around the obsidian and place blocks under the obsidian to prevent the obsidian from falling down. You can also simply mine the obsidian and then jump off the edge of the ship, be sure to place some water on the bottom before you hit the ground.

Tactics

Shulker shells are useful. Keep as many as you can, and using the chests from in the cities, you can create shulker boxes. It is recommended to store stackable loot separately from the non-stackable loot. You may only need one shulker box to store the stackable items, but you will definitely need more than one shulker box for non-stackable loot. If you really would like to go on a spree, you can clear out your ender chest, as these can hold boxes too. Since the chances of death and/or getting lost are so high, it is best to store your loot in an ender chest. Unfortunately, recursive tactics don't work here, as shulker boxes cannot hold shulker boxes. However, the combination of shulker boxes and an ender chest allows for a quick and easy way to get home via the void.though you will lose your exp doing this and it doesn't work on hardcore).

Post-Exploration

After looting the end city and killing all the shulkers, you have many things you can do with it. Using it as a home/base, destroying it, taking all the blocks for future plans or leaving it as it is are a few options.

Turning it into your base

An end city is a beautiful structure with many towers and maybe an end ship, you can build ladders or a spiral staircase inside the tower (or you use ender pearls to get up) to get up easily. You can put furniture inside each tower or different rooms (brewing room, anvil room, tannery room, bedroom, etc.) inside each tower. Adding a gateway or a bridge to the end ship and repairing the ship with purpur blocks (if you broke all the obsidian at the bottom of the ship) can make the ship look better, cleaner, and prevent you or other players from falling from the hole. Lighting up the island keeps endermen from spawning around the entrance. Make sure to put an ender chest in at least one of the towers so you can access your items in the end from the overworld note you cannot respawn in the end so dying will be a major setback.

Destroying the end city

This is not recommended, as blowing up the city wastes time and important resources, a better way is to collect the resources and important blocks before leaving if you don't want the end city as your base or you already have a base somewhere else. The best way of doing this is blowing the city up with TNT since purpur blocks cannot catch fire. Try to pillar jump to the desired block. place TNT, light up the TNT using flint and steel, and jump down using a water bucket or an ender pearl before it explodes, and pillar jump again to another part of the city. Using an ender pearl might not be a good option as you can land somewhere else and fall down the end city. Keep on blowing up the city until it's gone.

Mining the resources and blocks

Another way is to mine all the blocks or important blocks of the end city. This can be done if you start from the top of the city and mining down until you reach the bottom. Keep a few shulker boxes at the bottom in case your inventory is full. Using an highly enchanted diamond or netherite pickaxe, preferably with Unbreaking 1-3 or Efficiency 1-5 can help you mine the city quicker and with less pickaxes. In case you accidentally fall while mining, keep an water bucket in your hotbar or a potion of slow falling can prevent you from falling and dying. Be careful of shulkers hidden in the city that you didn't kill earlier, as they can give you the levitation effect and cause you to rise high and fall down. Keep on mining until the city is gone.

Building a shulker farm

As mentioned above, some shulkers can be intentionally kept alive, and can be used to build a shulker farm. Some of the most productive shulker farm designs involve the use of nether portals, which requires transporting a shulker to the Overworld, as nether portals cannot be built in the End. If you don't want to transport the shulkers, you can choose to build a 1-dimensional shulker farm right at the end city. They are not as fast as portal-based designs, but can still produce more than enough shulker shells for a singleplayer world or a small server.
