This guide will give you an explanation and walk-through of the best enchantments you can apply to everything that can be enchanted in the game.
For your armor, it is important to remember that some enchantments are to be avoided and some enchantments cannot be combined. The enchantments you should absolutely avoid are Projectile Protection, Blast Protection, and Fire Protection. The reason why is there is one enchantment, called Protection, that is literally just all that in one. It protects you from pretty much everything, excluding fall damage. These enchantments can also not be combined, which is fine because you should be aiming for Protection anyways.
For your sword, you should absolutely avoid the Bane of Arthropods enchantment. As you would expect, the Sharpness enchantment is just that enchantment and more. It applies more damage to all mobs, and not a specific group of mobs like spiders.
For any other tools, there aren't really any enchantments you should avoid, aside from curses.
To editors: put any notes that are next to enchantments in a small font.
