A trail ruin is a buried structure which work as archeology sites where suspicious sand and suspicious gravel generate. The trail ruins may be found in a few temperate, cold and snow-covered biomes and resemble ruined villages "from a lost culture".[1]
Structure
Generation
Trail ruins may be found on land or underwater, typically near to a river, an aquifer or an ocean. The structure may be found in the taiga, snowy taiga, old growth taiga, old growth birch forest and jungle biomes.
Aesthetics
The trail ruins are structures that generate mostly underground with only the tip above the ground. The ruins resemble small, ancient settlements. Each trail ruin has a main road made of cobblestone, stone, stone bricks which connects multiple small buildings and a central tower made of terracotta and glazed terracotta, the tip of which is the only part of the structure that does not tend to generate underground. Adjacent to the tower generates two rooms and sometimes other small buildings and décor made of mud bricks and terracotta. Most of the structure is buried in sand, gravel, dirt and coarse dirt, as well as some suspicious sand and suspicious gravel.
File structure
All trail ruins structures found below are located in the folder client.jar/data/minecraft/structures/trail_ruins[JE only].

A powder snow bucket is a bucket with powder snow inside.
Obtaining
A powder snow bucket can be obtained by using an empty bucket on a powder snow block or powder snow cauldron.
Usage
Pressing use while holding a powder snow bucket places a powder snow block. Java, powder snow may also be placed inside empty cauldrons, creating powder snow cauldrons.
Dispensers can also create and place powder snow buckets. However, they cannot do so with cauldrons. You can also use it to cushion falls in the nether by placing it below you when falling.

Issues
Issues relating to "Trail Ruins" are maintained on the bug tracker. Report issues there.
Trivia
- The trail ruins are the only natural source of mud bricks.
- One of the two buildings that generate adjacent to the tower will always have a ladder, which (if the player dig one block forward and one to the side) will lead to an opening in the wall of the main tower.
