Let's talk about the 1.12 icon[]

(The timing may be early…) I support Concrete or Parrots, what does everyone else think?--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 14:16, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

So far I think Parrots would be good - by the way should we flip the parrot icon to face the other way? I notice it faces the other way from the horse. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 11:28, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
THX. Please ask Mr.Oakar567 about the icon.--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 11:31, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
How about glazed terracotta? Seeing as it's one of the most vividly colorful additions to Minecraft, although it's not quite instantly recognizable as the parrot. Just regular concrete would be too bland. This is the World of Color update after all! Superspace (talk) 15:19, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
That's pretty good! I will erase the concrete proposal.--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 01:34, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
Since there was no reply after Sunday, sprite will be determined as glazed terracotta.--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 07:50, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
No, we have until the release of 1.12 to talk about it. It's no rush. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 12:00, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Sorry.--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 12:18, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
I'm sorry as well if I discouraged you from putting the icon there. I really only meant that the decision didn't need to be considered final, so quickly. I do like the terracotta icon, anyway. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 12:09, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
For christ sake it's just an icon, we don't need to edit war over it because a decision hasn't been made. If someone puts an icon in just leave it, then when a decision is made it can be changed to it. MajrTalk

Or make a concrete (powder) sprite featuring all the variants of the concrete (powder) blocks. Would also be useful for the breaking table of both pages imho. Just a suggestion... —DarkShadowTNT NL Admin (tc) 20:57, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
I would support using a parrot, or possibly a colored bed. The BlobsPaper JE2 BE2.png 22:43, 12 May 2017 (UTC) just made it the Parrot – NixinovaBook and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png • 22:19, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
@Nixinova: Now glazed terracotta has the most votes. Perhaps he may not know about it ...--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 03:28, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Personally I would like it to be the parrot – NixinovaBook and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png • 05:49, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
1.12 is now released. Have we reached a consensus? I'm seeing opinions for both and . The former would be the more "obvious" choice (who doesn't love parrots?) but the latter has made quite a dramatic impact on style and decor. In the end, both are extremely colorful things, which is what the update is about, so either one would work well. Personally, I  Agree with glazed terracotta. Superspace (talk) 21:41, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm equally fine with either. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 22:10, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
I agree with glazed terracotta.--Beans1512[[User ta

I think the sorting of the versions should be flipped, i.e. it should be ordered from most recent at the top to early versions of the game at the bottom. Thoughts? ―HalfOfAKebab (talk, contribs) 15:02, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Agree - turns out those extra development phase tabs do add up. - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 09:29, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
 AgreeDelboyDylan (talk|contribs) 17:58, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
Disagree - This template is primarily to navigate versions, not find the latest snapshot, so I think chronological makes the most sense as the natural sort order. In any case, most articles have the majority of the sub-navboxes closed anyways, so just the bottom box with release versions that is open on most snapshots. KnightMiner t/c 17:50, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Add back the 1.13 icon.[]

I suggested to use a Command Block , a fish or water . Any suggestions? Please reply me. Haydkenmutthew (talk) 14:54, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

I'd say that because the primary name of 1.13 is now Update Aquatic, we should do something other than the command block. However, as we've not had any snapshots for the aquatic additions yet, we should probably wait before deciding on an icon. For example, we may want to use a turtle or dolphin sprite, once they are finalised. – DelboyDylan (talk|contribs) 15:17, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
Agreed. Although I'm personally all about the technical changes, most people will see 1.13 as the ocean update now. A commandblock doesn't really fit that anymore. I'm not against using the water sprite, but I prefer icons to be picked from the new content (like coral). So I would say "wait". It's just an icon, there's no rush. --Pepijn (talk) 15:57, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
I agree with PepijnMC. --Beans1512 Talk / Contribs 23:59, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
The first Update Aquatic snapshot is released! We can add the icon now! (Please help us make an icon fit this...) Haydkenmutthew (talk) 04:59, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
I would just go with the new cod item texture personally, or maybe cod in a bucket. Its a new texture to the update, unlike water directly, and is a lot more obviously water related than something like kelp or coral. KnightMiner t/c 01:00, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Alpha 1.1.3 – does it exist?[]

MinecraftPhotos4U: I can't view the video you posted, and Google gives me no results for "Minecraft Alpha 1.1.3". Does the update actually exist? – Nixinova Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png 03:25, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

To be fair its existence is controversial; the video is so low quality that it seems more likely that it's actually a video of Alpha 1.1.2 with the 2 distorted and compressed beyond recognition. Here's a reupload, by the way. - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 06:29, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
I looked at that video and the number looks more like a '2' than a '3'. If that's the only evidence for that version, I don't think it should be listed here at all. – Nixinova Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png 06:49, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
I upped the quality of the video and it's definitely a '2'. Removing from template. – Nixinova Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png 06:53, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

The Classic and Alpha versions have weird indentations. MinecraftPhotos4U? – Nixinova Book and Quill JE2 BE2.png Diamond Pickaxe JE3 BE3.png Map (item) JE2 BE2.png 07:23, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Release section too long[]

The release section of this template is way too long to navigate comfortably; it takes 13 individual scrolls or 2 full mouse scrolls to get from "Minecraft Java Edition versions" to the bottom of the template when trying to go through 1.15 snapshots. How can the template be made easier to navigate? Splitting the release section into "1.0-1.9" & "1.10-1.19"? Making it reverse chronological? Add collapsability to each major version? Nixinova T C 02:49, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

Example with each version having its own collapsable section: Nixinova T C 03:07, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
I like the idea of splitting them off each 10 versions. I think making each major version its own collapsible section doesn't negate this problem nearly enough. -PancakeIdentity (talk) 05:19, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
How about every 10 and every 1? Nixinova T C 05:35, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
I like it, but it should split like: 1.0-1.6, 1.7-1.12, 1.13-1.16-- 15:08, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Oppose While it may make pages shorter, there will be so much clicking on show/hide, that at the end, it won't be any useful. --TreeIsLife (talk) 06:51, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Its just one or two clicks instead of scrolling for ages, try the above vs the main template. Nixinova T C 07:22, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Indecise about this. It may indeed be useful to reduce the amount of links on the articles, but having that many collapsible options may end being worse for readers, because they usually just ignore them, making the hidden versions very unnoticeable. Thejoaqui777 (talk) 13:38, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Weak support, instead, I like them being split into groups. Random and questionable splits don't make sense. I think that it should be split into 4 sections, Release terrain (1.0 - 1.6), Modern terrain (1.7 - 1.17), Future terrain (1.18+), and Future (Combat Tests). Future terrain won't be used until 1.18 releases. Also, the sections will just be named, Full Release, 1.7 - 1.17, (1.18+), and Future (updates). Proposal below (reply with 2 colons). Humiebeetalk contribs 18:44, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Will work on this in my Sandbox, User:Humiebee/Sandbox. Also added changes in the bottom most discussion (item sprites) Humiebeetalk contribs 18:55, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Colon missing and unnecessary apostrophes in SimpleNavbox[]

In the SimpleNavbox it says Minecraft Java Edition versions (without colon punctuation and 4 unnecessary apostrophes) instead of Minecraft: Java Edition versions (with colon punctuation and removing 4 unnecessary apostrophes (')) 19:21, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

 Done Nixinova T C 20:35, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

20w14infinite icon[]

Since all the other april fool's icons are things that were actually added in the snapshot and not already in the game, I think we should change the icon for 20w14~ to be either a box of infinite books or a funky portal. Just a thought! -FezEmerald (Talk to me|See what I've been up to) 17:49, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Where should Combat Test listed?[]

A:Other Version

I think it should be A. 15:05, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

I like Captain SoloCombat Tests where he isthey are. Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 15:14, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
You are talking about B-- 10:44, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

1.18 Prototype Datapack Addition[]

I wonder if the prototype datapack for 1.18 (Caves and Cliffs: Part 2) should be added under 1.18 development versions.

Clearer rules for icons[]

I believe there should be a clearer rule for icons. It should be the most impactful addition of the update for the future. For example, 1.16's most important addition really was the netherite, but 1.17's is definitely not the amethyst shard, rather copper (or deepslate?). Here's what I suggest fir each version since 1.0 :

I  Support this because it's a very good way to have actual adequate sprites. This should be done also for Bedrock Edition and Legacy Console Edition too. Thejoaqui777 (talk) 13:34, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Support, same here. I think I will change the ones that are the least controversial like 1.0-8 (excluding 1.5). 1.5 should be redstone, even though it was not added in the update. 1.9 was the Combat Update so perhaps a diamond sword? 1.10 should be a magma block (farms), 1.11, though the most impactful was not really the purpose of the update, 1.12 needs to be discussed, 1.13 is already there, 1.17 is good. Humiebeetalk contribs 21:10, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
What are you thinking for 1.12? -- MetalManiacMc at your service fellow human! (talk) 07:14, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
What I mean is that there was a discussion at the very top of the page and changing 1.5 (also i realized that redstone is used in an alpha versions) and 1.11 does not show the purpose of the update. Concrete seems too bland (1 uniform color) to actually display the update. I think 1.12 should stay as it is. Humiebeetalk contribs 18:38, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
For the concrete I already used . 1.11 could be Woodland Mansion though. -- MetalManiacMc at your service fellow human! (talk) 19:20, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Perhaps, it was the main part of the trailer BUT it is called the exploration update. Humiebeetalk contribs 20:37, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
Also, here is my general request. Humiebeetalk contribs 20:40, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
Also, to add, I think (to prevent duplication), the Full Release icon should be an end crystal instead of an ender dragon. Humiebeetalk contribs 20:38, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Really Strong Oppose. I think the regular change of sprites here is actually very good. People mostly find an icon, that will be used. The thing of "update should be described by the best image" is here many years and I don't see a reason to make sime proposal. For me, both @MetalManiacMc's and @Humiebee's ideas are bad. BiomeSprites should never be really used. 16x16px is too little for a some biome and the readability decreaces to 0. The current ones are fine and I don't need to overhaul ones we have.--TreeIsLife (talk) 21:10, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
