Notag is the same as just using the original template instead of this one, what's the point? ultradude25 (T|C) at 23:30, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Currently seems to be broken due to a server misconfiguration causing pages to be shown with the following text overlaid onto itself in a single line:

7 ( Error creating thumbnail: Unable to create destination directory Error creating thumbnail: Unable to create destination directory Error creating thumbnail: Unable to create destination directory

(interesting note however, while writing this up and previewing it, it seems to have fixed itself o.o) 23:01, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Riddable mob hearts[]

Do we have the new heart sprites in 1.6 for mobs when players ride on them? If so, where can we find them? If not, could someone add them then? Thanks. --ThingStuffObject 01:00, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Absorption hearts[]

Hey again... more new hearts for 1.6. The "absorption" heart sprites are added in Java Edition 13w25a, and of course, you get them when you have the new absorption effect. They look gold, here's a link: [1]. Sorry, but can someone add them again? Thanks. --ThingStuffObject 21:37, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Idea: Empty hearts - a Maximum Health parameter[]

Perhaps a parameter can be added for "maximum": if the actual health is less than the maximum, the remaining are rendered as empty hearts. If the actual health is greater than the maximum, only the maximum would be displayed (just as it works in-game when your health surpasses its max).

♥♥♥ (player with 5/20 health)

♥ × 6.5 (damaged mob)

(currently used in the Status Effect article to represent the empty base health the Health Boost status provides) --WolfieMario 02:58, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Done, however it doesn't work if the value is 0, and the iconbar template is too much of a mess for me to want to fix it. ultradude25Talk
03:45, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm interested in why you think {{Iconbar}} is a mess, ultra... Certainly, it's a bit hard to follow, but that's because the logic is by necessity complicated (the required behavior and functionality is complicated, after all), and in its current form, it's quite a bit simpler than it was before I rewrote it. (Feel free to respond on my talk page if you'd prefer to keep the discussion off this talk page.) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:41, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
It's a template, so is a mess by default. I've been spoiled by JS and lua. ultradude25Talk

Aah, of course. I wasn't thinking in the context of "real" programming languages. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:37, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Other fractions of a heart[]

Any chance we could add support for fractions as small as 0.25 (♥ × ⅛), even if that meant using modified icons? That'd make it easier to visually display things like the 6.25 (♥ × 3⅛) damage that Sharpness V adds to a sword. Seahen (talk) 01:30, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

No, that's not how it's represented in-game. 02:19, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Change max to 10 hearts[]

I think the maximum number of displayable hearts should be 10 (20 HP). That way your player's health can be fully represented as it is in the game. 02:19, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

A half wither hart looks the same as a full, it just empty black like the full. Could the half be changed to have white background in the right side? / 19:55, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Late response: I support this, although I personally prefer for the right half to be transparent instead of white. –Sonicwave talk 21:05, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

What does HP stand for?[]

Does HP stand for hit points or Hewlett-Packard? Enderdespawnmite (talk) 12:06, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Hit points. 1 hp, hit point, makes up a half of a heart. Not sure why "Hewlett-Packard" would have anything to do with Minecraft.-- Madminecrafter12Orange Glazed Terracotta JE2 BE2.pngTalk to meLight Blue Glazed Terracotta JE1 BE1.png 12:24, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
Huh, I thought it was Health Points. FVbico (talk) 05:57, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

Reduce maximum amount of displayed hearts[]

The template currently displays up to 20 HP or 10 hearts (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥); any health value greater than 20 will instead display as ♥ × [hp / 2]. For the sake of increasing readability, I think the maximum amount of hearts should be decreased to 7 (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) or 5 (♥♥♥♥♥), with any health value greater than that being displayed the compact way. –Sonicwave talk 19:38, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

As I said on Discord, I  Support it for 5 hearts (10 HP). --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 20:06, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
Support for 5 hearts. You loose readability on more hearts, I think. Holroy talkcontribs 21:30, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
Five items are at or just beyond the average human ability to subitize groups of items; needless to say, 10 goes well beyond that limit. If we really wanted to limit the display to the human ability to subitize groups, we'd stick with three hearts here. That being said, I have no major complaints with five instead; while it's outside the range of subitizing, it's still small enough that basic pattern-matching allows a very fast assessment of the number of items. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 01:20, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
I went ahead and reduced it to 5 hearts since its been several days since the last comment. –Sonicwave talk 17:41, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Hearts broken? Template links filename instead.[]

The template seems to be embedding a text link to Heart.svg instead of showing hearts. See, e.g., at Tutorials/Beginner's_guide#Food_and_hunger --MentalMouse42 (talk) 13:53, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

It's fine for me, might be caused by the Module:UI momentarily there. – ItsPlantseed|⟩ 13:56, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Hearts borders don't overlap like ingame[]

Ingame, the heart borders overlap each other. This template makes them next to other other, causing two pixel borders between them:

HP Comparsion Template vs Ingame.png

The healthbar on the top is what this template generate. The bottom bar is what is seen ingame. --Unavailablehoax (talk) 04:14, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Add freezing hearts[]

Freezing damage, added in JE 1.17, currently cannot be represented using this template. CreeperSlimePig (talk) 18:50, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Freezing hearts were able to be represented in this template, it was just not added to the documentation, which I've now added – Unavailablehoax (talk) 19:58, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
