This template can be used when a page has started the process of being split into other pages, often following a discussion, explaining to the reader that there is a split ongoing. Should be used on large splits, usually due to long processes.

For suggesting splitting a page, use {{split}} instead. Pages with this template are added to the Category:Current split.

Usage

  • The 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 parameters set the suggested new pages. They should be used in order (specially when using 1=).
  • The reason parameter add an additional reason note.
  • The discussAnchor parameter changes the section name where the "discuss" button will lead on the talk page. It is added to the default talk page or the one set by the parameter below.
  • The discussPage parameter changes the talk page where the "discuss" button will lead.
  • The section parameter changes the template to a section style, changing the message to say that the section should be split into its own page or pages.
  • The timestamp parameter adds a note of when the template was added.
