The template pertains to articles by default; to make it about a specific section instead, type {{rewrite|section=1}}. A specific reason for the rewrite request can be added as a variable, i.e. {{rewrite|of poor grammar}} (or {{rewrite|of poor grammar|section=1}} for a section-specific request reason).
The date that the template is added should also be included as a second variable, i.e. {{rewrite|of poor grammar|May 6, 2014}}, or {{rewrite||May 6, 2014}} if no specific issues are listed (and {{rewrite|of poor grammar|May 6, 2014|section=1}} or {{rewrite||May 6, 2014|section=1}} for section-specific requests).
The third parameter sets the category where the page will be put to (default Category:Articles needing rewrite). It is possible to set no category using the "nocat=1" parameter. With all variables included (including section), the template will read "It has been requested that this section be rewritten because of poor grammar (tagged on May 6, 2014)."
