This template can be used when a page has started the process of being merged into another page, often following a discussion, explaining to the reader that there is a merge ongoing. Should be used on large merges, usually due to long processes.

This template adds the page to the Category:Merge in progress.

Usage

{{merging|1|2|reason=Additional reason|discussAnchor=Optional talk section|discussPage=Talk page changer|section=Optional section mode}}

• The 1 parameter set the suggested page to merge.
• The 2 parameter defines a third page to be the merge destination.
• The section parameter changes the template to a section style. If 2 is specified, it also changes the message to indicate that the section and the page are being merged into their own page.
