Zombie: Hostile or neutral?
I was building my house in 1.1 and a zombie was in it and it DIDN'T kill me! I attacked the zombie and it started attacking me. Can someone please clarify this?

Chunk Rendering?
I made a nomad world, and was traveling. I was at least 3000 blocks from the spawn point. In the middle of the day, I entered a desert. Far in the distance, I saw fire animation, then it went away. I thought nothing of it. A few minutes later, not enough for items to despawn, I saw rotten flesh in that spot. I realize it probably a zombie that caught on fire from the sun, but what was it doing there in the first place? It was the first time I loaded the chunk playing. 72.209.199.2 21:28, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
It's totally normal, at night time when I was playing survival, I look out on to the distance then turned my back for 4-5 seconds and looked at the distance again then a creeper was right in front of me! So yeah, it isn't a chunk error it was probably just a zombie who was at a dark position in the morning then it must've wandered off onto the desert then died because of the sun. Thanks! ►H_Drake | talk contribs
Zombies surviving in caves?
Hi i just read that zombies only die at day if they are in sunlight. Does this mean that i can find zombies, say underground even through its day on the surface? --Taurentius 13:24, 5 February 2011 (UTC) Yes this does, they spawn anywhere the light level is below seven, so they will spawn in caves even if it's broad daylight out. "Their attack deals 3 hearts of damage."
Is this statement really correct? A quick look at Health/Damage#Damage_Inflicted_by_Mobs says they deal 1.5/2.5/3.5 (easy/normal/hard) hearts of damage. It would be great if someone could confirm or deny a change in damage calculations. --DrPhil 01:44, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Yep! Unless you are wearing armour. At Hard difficulty all the mobs definitely have their attack damage higher. Thanks!►H_Drake | talk contribs
Questionable statement
"As of the September 3, 2009 update, zombies are the fastest mobs in the game." Is this statement correct? I remember spiders being a lot faster (but possibly due to their jumping behaviour). Even if so, it should be rewritten. --BlueLegion 15:05, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Feathers
Why do they drop feathers?
- They drink Red Bull. Karsten 11:53, 21 November 2010 (CST
Thats probably also why they're dead. ICantThinkOfAGoodUsername 20:01, 15 January 2011 (UTC) In all seriousness, they dropped feathers because Notch didn't know what to make them drop before he added chickens. Daniels Grant1 13:11, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Daniels_Grant1
- I believe they were orignally just a reskin of the chickens with similar, if not identical behavior at first. I am not 100% certain on this though. -- Choolio123 11:18, 9 February 2012
- I found it funny to believe when the zombies aren't chasing you, they're pulling feathers out of chickens and sticking them into their rotting shirt BazzarLarry 16:26, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Zombies to chickens?
The statement "Zombies will turn into chickens if the game is suddenly switched to peaceful." seems bizarre to me. I often switch from having mobs to peaceful and have never seen a zombie turn into a chicken. Perhaps this was a glitch from before I started playing, or was a glitch directly after an update (and was quickly fixed), but without proof as to any scenario doing this I think it should be removed. Frozenne 05:31, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Zombie Feathers??? ZOMBIE feathers????????? I have no idea what they were thinking when they made zombies drop feathers. You forgot you sig there llovekittens, they drop feathers because there weren't chickens then and because Notch didn't know what they should drop. Also I've not seen that happen. In short they drop feathers because the almighty Notch decided to. Timberdoodle 23:25, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Disconfirming non-attacking zombies
Just before I was attacked by a zombie. It has definitely got a smaller radius of attack, and possibly weaker attack. (I was wearing armour.) Krickit 09:46, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Zombies will attack other mobs
i was being chased by a zombie and a skeleton when one of the skeletons arrows hit the zombie. The zombie turned around, killed the skeleton and continued following me dont think this has been said Saspcioll29 18:45, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Rafa
Zombies being slow?
http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/124246851896619008 Notch twitted that today, just wondering if its a hint zombies could be slower in the future than they are now? What do you think? --Throex TALK|CONT 22:22, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Multiple Health Totals Given
Is there any reason why we have to list the health from both before and after 1.9 pre-release 3, instead of just the health as it stands now? 76.22.15.178 05:47, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
0-5 Feathers?
Why does it say zombies used to drop 0-5 feathers? I've played before 1.8 and they dropped 0-2 feathers.
- Jesus Christ that was messy. Anyway… yes, that appears to be minor vandalism. Carry on. Shellface 00:46, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

attacking skeletons
I was messing around in creative (in the latest release) and a skeleton shot a zombie, but the zombie didn't attack the skeleton. Was that something that was supposed to happen or a bug? would some other people mind testing this? --Minecraftdino 18:17, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Path finding of mobs does not work for gaps between glass planes and iron bars
Even though the distance between glass planes and iron bars is (almost) equal to one block, the path finding does not work. They will act like they are solid blocks, only coincidental they get across these gaps.
- That's because there path-finding looks for air blocks to walk through. Since there is no air blocks, even though there is space, the zombie wont try to walk through it. Same thing with a half slab on the floor and an upside down slab on the roof. the gap is big enough to walk through but is technically not an "air block". ZeCraftyMiner 20:55, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Wow, thanks CraftyMiner, that explains why We can do what they cannot.. that and our own different "size" characteristics, probably. So how about: "the ability to 'see' through windows" yes, can they officially see through doors? I thought I said (how about a link to this?) in "(Zombie?) Siege(s? #'s uncertain, there, too)," they can see through wooden doors. Onto the Iron doors, below.. . June 6, 2012 Yilante.
Zombie are actually dropping Cookies for real!
Smwforever45 rollbacked my edit where i stated that zombies would drop cookies as rare drop on death. i wrote that about 3 hours ago; in the meantime, i managed to collect other 6 cookies without crafting them (because i have NEVER got cocoa beans in that part of the server i am playing), and this must mean that i have collected them from the ground; since i fought mostly against zombies, i assume that they dropped cookies; also, i must say that i found the first "couple" of cookies in a village i am expanding, where there are player-crafted iron golems; they roam around the town killing hostiles, expecially zombies, because they siege villages.
i think i have stated a lot of motivations to assume that zombies actually drop cookies; who else could explain why i have now an amount of 8 cookies on me, without crafting them and without having anybody else do it? i also want to say that i are in kind of "isolated" part of the server, and i don't think i could have been joked by somebody else (and i am playing with quite serious people).
if cookies are not dropped from zombies, then they must have been dropped by spiders, but i find it hard since the first pair of cookies i found was very next to a pair of rotten flesh and a walking iron golem... don't you think so?
in the end, it could be a sort of Bukkit error, but i find this chance VERY hard, don't you?--82.88.58.26 18:01, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- What the **** did I just read? No, Zombies do not drop cookies. It's either your server or you're making an error. --Moxxy 18:04, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Zombies don't drop cookies. It's a modified server. Calinou - talk × contribs » 19:01, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- I don't rollback edits for no reason. I've tried and spawned 256 zombies in Creative Mode, and then killed them all. I got two iron swords, one iron shovel and tons of rotten flesh and experience points, but no cookie. Together with the hundreds of zombies I killed during normal gameplay, where I also got no cookie, I think that's a clear result. If zombies drop cookies on your server, then it's because of a plugin you're using. Zombies definitely don't drop cookies in Vanilla Minecraft. smwforever45 19:20, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I have an update: i ate those cookies and... They did not reacharge food bar!! amazing. i think this could be a sort of error, something like the server dropped for an error cookies, and when i ate them it brought them back to where they came from. to Make an example, it's a sort of error very similar to the one that happens with a laggy server and tools, that break and reappear in your inventory later; this is only a "reverse" case. this is oblivious, if you think of it! In the following days i'll be looking for more of these odd things, it might be a bukkit error, now that things are how they seem.
As for answering else: I DO NOT PLAY ON A MODIFIED SERVER!!! i should know it, since it MY server. Up to now, for how things are, it can only be a random error occasion or a bukkit error (bukkit has gone in reccomended release only recently). We currently use no mods, EXCEPT Multiworld. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Wonder if i should report this possible bug to them... don't know how, though.--82.88.58.26 19:05, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- If you use a bukkit server, then you use a modified server. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 19:11, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Zombies and Iron doors
I know they can't broke them but It count in one contraption I maked.
Firstly If you walk on top of a "doors bridge", (whatever the situation, the doors looking like one line or parallel lines) you don't fall ( In the case of doors looking like parallel line if you stop, you fall ... ).
Zombies know about they could walk on top of doors, but try only if the doors are not redstone powered.
Additionnaly, if you put your doors parallel, they simply fall when passing the first door.
Finnaly, if you make one line, if they came from the same direction the door facing, they could walk on top of them for 3 doors ( they try to be more centered relative to the block center ), if they came from the oposite direction, they try but fall because are on the top block of the door, but not not the door itself.
For making a good door bridge, simply make 2 lines (4 lenght) of parallel iron doors that when powered they make only one line. Then put redstone for powering them. so the two part are mob protected.

Zombie in a cage?
Ok, I was playing minecraft (duh) and I was mining (thought it can be of useful info) I found a random item location? (if they even are real) but i found to boxes and in the middle was a Zombie in a one block cage floating, like as if it was a spell? I do not have a picture of the weirdness, but I just want to know if anyone knows what this thing is and... ya please give me info. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.63.12.153 (Talk|Contribs) 08:15, 29 May 2012. Chance of drops
Does anyone know what the chance of the various rare drops are? The wiki doesn't seem to say anywhere. I think it's fairly clear they only drop when hand killed by the player, though. Pi4t 18:42, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
See Drops#Rare drops for all of the relevant probabilities. —kpreid 19:41, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Rare drops is iron armor parts
Why cant I do harm to zombies?
I just finished building a zombie xp grinder. If I co in to the spawner room, the zombies will attack me and I will be able to kill it. But when they flow down through my trap and hit the end of the drop, they glitch out or something. The stand there and just look around, and my fist/sword/whole body goes through right through them with out damage to either of us. After a bit, they just disappear. Is there anything I can do to fix this? --Maripi 3:29, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Must be some world corruption or a bug. Anoymonous august 2012
There are outstanding bugs in 1.3.2 (see what's now the Issues page) where monsters glitch in various ways -- walking through walls and wading though floors, and "astral projecting" to different locations. Mob spawners do seem particularly affected. --Mental Mouse 11:36, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Should Zombie Villagers get their own page?
Should Zombie Villagers get their own page as mobs, I think they are different enough to count as a new mob.
- No. a extra section maybe. Datei:ViSig.png iLeon (Disk) 23:53, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, there is already a pretty cheap Zombie Villager Page. Somebody should remove it. And can somebody work on the new section soon?
I don't think so, the two mobs are identical in all aspects except appearance, and the fact one can be cured. But then again, cave spiders get there own page. Fummy 21:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
They also have an increased chance to have armor and weapons, I believe, and there are baby ones. I think they're different enough to have their own page. Why do different dyes have their own page, despite being the same item, yet two different mobs shouldn't? Sedrick Stevenson 03:52, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Cave spiders are a different monster with different capabilities (1×1×1 size, poison), and the dyes have different origins. That said, I agree that the Zombie Villagers should get their own page -- different potential origin, different drops, babies, and curable to boot. --Mental Mouse 11:33, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Zombie Ideas + Question of Zombies
I was wondering, can you edit a mob spawner for, say, an adventure map? I was looking forward to making a zombie map with zombies, but when i heard about this, I HAD to know. So, can you? Here are my ideas for zombies.
Marazomb - Swiftness Potion Effect, Weakness Potion Effect Fighter Zombie - Strength Effect, Iron Helmet Soldier Zombie - Strength Effect, Bow Soldier Zombie 2 - Strength Effect, Iron Sword Merchant Zombie - Stone Sword Merchant Zombie 2 - Golden Helmet, Golden Sword Mutant Zombie - Strength Effect, Slowness Potion Effect, Diamond Armor, Diamond Sword Civi Zombie - Leather Chestplate Civi Zombie 2 - Wooden Sword Jumper Zombie - Jumping II Effect Superzomb - Full Diamond Armor Protection IV
curing villager zombies?
according to the wiki it takes a potion of weakness and a golden apple to cure them, but whenever I try this the red swirls happen but all they do is start jittering, still zombified. I was wondering if anyone else has found a third step? I've tried with both types of apples and potions, both of the potions seem to work but only the golden nugget apple creates red swirls, and eventually the red swirls turn grey again. Can anyone help me? 71.168.88.147 00:49, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
It takes a while, eventually they will become villagers again. Just wait A long time.
Zombie rare item dropping in 12w23a
It says on the wiki page in the 12w23a section that zombies carrying weapons and armour have a chance to drop them if they have them. But I have tested many zombies to find ones with items, and none of them have dropped their weapons/armour on death. Has anyone ever actually seen them drop the items? Fummy:Fummy 21:09, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
I assume you mean 12w32a, not 12w23a. I have been testing with batches of ~300 zombies, and I usually only get two or three weapon/armor drops. Also, you have to kill them yourself, you cant let a golem or mob grinder do it. I used Splash Potions of Healing to kill them en masse. It seems like (on hard) ~5% of zombies are wearing or holding some item, and they only drop said item ~10% of the time. Also, I find occasional dropped Iron Bars fron killing Zombies, so the Rare Drop system may still be (partially) in effect. - Michael, 15 August 2012
Redirect
I think there should be a redirect if someone types in Zombificate (since Testificate redirects to villager). I mean someone could call them that due to Beta 1.9 prerealese 1.
