Charged creepers and mob heads[]
So someone found this information out...how, exactly? And how is this situation at all possible outside of creative mode or commands, to spawn creepers in the nether or wither skeletons in the overworld? --172.242.118.133 21:41, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Damage from wither status[]
I read 7 and then see 4 black hearts. Later i read 1 and see 1 black hart. I read 4 and see 2 black hearts. That leads me to think it should be 7=3,5 black hart and 1=0,5 heart. Thats the system used for red harts, and those are displayed correctly. But for this black hearts i cant see halfes, only complete ones. Is there something wrong with the template (i guess its a template) generating black hearts? /83.255.22.207 19:45, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- Screenshot the page and zoom in really far where it says 7 hearts. You'll see that the right half has no reddish outline, but the left half does. That's how it actually looks in-game, the heart is the same black color as the background, except for that faint reddish outline. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 20:09, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Wither Skeletons Spawn on Nether Brick Anywhere in the Nether in Pocket Edition[]
I play on the Windows 10 Edition (basically pocket edition). I'm building in the Nether with Nether Brick away from Nether Fortresses, and I've witnessed Wither Skeletons spawn on it. Can someone else confirm this? If it can be confirmed, it should be added to the article. This could make for some nice wither skeleton farms if proven to be true!--LinuxKpenguin (talk) 20:28, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- I am noticing the same thing in JE 1.15.2 and the same with blaze. I have a nether portal somewhat near a fortress, but not all that close (it's within view) and I used nether brick for it. I frequently will come back to it and have to fight wither skeletons or blazes. Pirateswithfleas98651 (talk) 05:00, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
"Somewhat near a fortress" means within its hitbox. That's why mobs spawn there. ManosSef (talk) 16:11, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Wither effect from roses but not skulls?[]
Are Wither skeletons not just fully immune to withering no matter the source? I tried testing this by pitting a Wither skeleton against a Wither, but the skull projectiles never seemed to inflict the status on the Skeleton. Additionally, Wither skeletons being susceptible to the wither effect was a reported as a bug (MC-101127) last year and was marked as fixed as of snapshot 18w43a, but that report didn't specify between the source of the effect, so if they fixed it, I would think they just made them completely immune, no? When a fortress is in a soul sand valley...[]
I have noticed by little testing and in some videos by Dream that fortresses in soul sand valleys spawn a ton of wither skeletons. So I have come to realize that this is because of normal skeletons spawning in the soul sand valley. My theory is that when the game attempts to spawn normal skeletons in that soul sand valley and it finds solid blocks in the fortresses, it has a rough 80% chance to spawn wither skeletons, because of the location being within the hitbox of a fortress. Just like how strays replace skeletons in cold biomes on the surface, maybe wither skeletons replace skeletons in fortresses. Is there any way to confirm this, maybe by checking the code? Wither cure[]

- It's simple, you only need to drink a Milk Bucket to remove the effect. That will also remove any other effect, but at least you'll be cured. Supeika (talk) 20:21, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
Wither Skeleton Weapon[]
Can Wither Skeletons swords break like a Pillager´s crossbow? - Pretty sure they can't. Pillager/Piglin crossbows are the only weapons wielded by non-player mobs that can break, I'm pretty sure. --Ultsppi (talk) 23:07, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Spawning in groups[]
Do wither skeletons always spawn in groups of 4? The page says so but I don't know if that's true. 136.169.93.195
- That is definitely false. They spawn as either 1, 2, 3, or 4. I believe that might depend on the amount of space available in the immediate vicinity of the 1 block that they spawn on. So if the 1 block chosen for spawning is next o a wall (or other spawn-proof obstruction), then they'll spawn in smaller numbers. They are probably guaranteed to spawn as groups of 4 in a completely flat world where the whole world is a nether fortress. GMRE (talk) 18:30, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
Light Level?[]

Where those drop numbers came from? The calculation[]
For example the coal. Killed wither skeleton has 1/3 chance to drop 1 coal.
Looting I increases the number to 2 coal with the same 1/3 chance. Looting II increases the number to 3 coal with the same 1/3 chance. Looting III increases the number to 4 coal with the same 1/3 chance.
So wouldn't it go like this: Imagine we kill 30 wither skeletons using Looting III. 10 of them drops coal (any number) with 1-4 coals per drop. Should the average drop being (1+2+3+4)/4 = 2.5 ? Then because it's 1/3 chance to drop we multiple 2.5 with 1/3 which is... 0.833 coal per kill.
Should the calculation go that way instead? I don't get where the number "with an average of 1.67 coal per kill." came from... 112.78.167.50
Picking up items[]
The article says that they can pick up weapons. I just killed a group of them (Java edition), resulting in there being coal, bones and a skull on the ground. The last living member of their group picked up the skull. It was too dark to see if he was holding the skull, or merely had it in his inventory. I killed him and he either dropped the same skull, or a new one. Point is that they can hold skulls, or possibly even have an inventory that they drop when they die. Zombified Piglins also spawn in wither roses on Bedrock 1.21[]
I built a wither skeleton farm in a nether fortress with the entire surface being netherrack with wither roses on every block. Zombified piglins frequently spawn on the wither roses and then die pretty quickly to the wither effect. This page claims that only wither skeletons can spawn on wither roses, but this is incorrect, at least on Bedrock. Nelthan00 (talk) 22:36, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
