File[]
If you aren't afraid of a little modding, you can download a freshly generated "Winter mode" map here.
- Installation
You can install this file by downloading it and unzipping it to your \.minecraft\saves folder.
For Windows XP and below this is located in your "C:\Documents and Settings\Account name\Application Data\.minecraft\saves" directory. For Vista & 7 this is located in your "C:\User\Account name\Application Data\.minecraft\saves" directory.
For Ubuntu it can be found in your HOME folder (hit CTRL+H to reveal it as it's a hidden folder)
- this file is silly. you can change the value of the map's snow condition with NBTedit if you REALLY want it. Kizzycocoa 19:38, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Is it possible for this to be generated in already-created infdev maps, if you walk far enough to force the game to generate new terrain? I haven't tried it, and was wondering if anyone else had either. --J0z 19:16, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- No. It is a map value, meaning you get either all snow in one map, or no snow. Probably when Notch adds biomes, it will be possible. --Demki 20:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Desert Mode[]
I know this might not be the right place, but I would like to see a desert mode, with lots of sand, little water, in oasis' etc. Then mountain in one side of the map, on the other side of the mountain, there will be a grassy area similar to the regular mode. In the desert there will be lots of cacti(?). and other similar traits of the desert. - unsigned.
- You got it in Biomes and cactus. --JellyfishGreen 19:19, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- If Notch adds in Sandstorms in which someone on twitter suggested to him we might add a Desert Mode article. --Rocĸetor talk 21:24, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Update![]
This page seriously needs to be updated (or merged) after the halloween update. -F1racer101 07:37, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
When released...[]
when it was released.. it would usally lag my computer, now that its gone, it wont lag! D3l1n 01:42, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Not the same as Biomes[]
Just noting that my old Alpha Winter Mode map finally got some weather... and it was rain.
DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT IT IS "REMOVED FROM THE GAME". I HAVE HAD A WORLD FOR 6 MONTHS AND IT IS NOW WINTER!!! YUMMY55 17:50, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
I suppose the biome generator that came in later versions doesn't automatically tag old snowy sites as winter biomes, except where they accidentally overlap naturally. Anyone else confirm or deny? --JellyfishGreen 19:17, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Winter Mode was not a biome. Biomes were introduced after Winter Mode. I have fixed the page. --65.50.106.175 00:53, 1 December 2011 (UTC) Captain Man
