Recipe with damaged fishing rod[]

I recently tried to make one of these using a partially-used fishing rod. It didn't work. I tried again with an unused rod and it worked fine.

So, I think the first crafting method is incorrect (it allows for damaged or undamaged).

Can someone else please test this. I am on Java edition.

If I'm right, then the version of the crafting section that includes a damaged rod should be corrected. However, I don't know how to edit tables like that. SirDaddicus (talk) 15:10, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

I tested it in Bedrock Edition, and it works fine with a damaged fishing rod, even from the crafting grid (no crafting table needed). Are you sure you arranged the ingredients diagonally as shown? The crafting doesn't work in any other arrangement. In any case, I have added a Bedrock-only description. Amatulic (talk) 22:51, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
Sorry about the delay in responding. I just checked in Java (creative mode), and the recipe does indeed require an undamaged rod. I tried making it by placing items, and then I checked the actual recipe. It was greyed out with a damaged rod, but worked with a full rod. However, once I had viewed the recipe with a full rod, the recipe with a damaged rod became available to make (again, in creative mode). When I switched back to survival, the recipe was still present.
Very odd. I'm not sure how to document this one. SirDaddicus (talk) 21:31, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
