For more information on the Void, look at the "Hall of Mirrors" effect as seen in other games. User:Kookas 04:28, 04 January 2010 (UTC)
The webpage isn't about the bug, its about the void in general. I don't reckon it needs to be removed F1racer101 00:27, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- But it's just the skybox. What you see in the void is just the other side of the sky. –ultradude25 (T|C) 00:28, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Technically, it isn't a "skybox", as skyboxes tend to be boxes, but you are correct. The article sounds quite rough and the authors clearly aren't very experienced in this area. I've updated the article to make it sound less technologically impaired. User:Kookas 04:28, 04 January 2010 (UTC)
- I added a template to it for this purpose, just to show that it doesn't exist anymore. --UncleRuckus 19:35, 1 November 2010 (CDT)
- Does that mean we can remove the request for deletion?F1racer101 00:47, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- I was going to, but I wasn't sure if others would approve. --UncleRuckus 23:56, 1 November 2010 (CDT)
- Actually, new chunks might not have "the void" anymore, but old chunks still have it. So, I believe this article should not be deleted. Let's just keep it with that obsolete template. --CrazyTerabyte 11:59, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure though, because I generated a new world after the Halloween update and it still has gaps to the void in it. I might be mistaken though. --Gitgo567 16:17 (WST)
- See my topic below; lava lakes can still show the void on the latest version of Minecraft (1.2_02) LB 06:03, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
The trivia sections says “If you open a hole to the void and block off all light sources, you can see that the void does in fact give off light. The Void after Halloween Update
A massive gap with light.. I'm not ready to go down there yet. This was generated after the Halloween Update. Ruan942 06:03, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Edge
Can the Void exist at the edge of a map? Drenay 21:26, 15 December 2010 (CST)
- As far as I know, no-one has made it to the edge of the map, and so it is unknown what is there. --Cooldudetb 12:47, 22 December 2010 (CST)
- Yes, as the Void is simply any area where there are no blocks, and thus applies in every direction on a map. User:Kookas 04:28, 04 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, it is not possible. Once you get to the edge, it randomly generates new parts of the map you cannot see on certain map editors. --YaYaBinksMinecraft
- Yes, actually, it is. If you have your view distance set to the highest level, then you can see the edge of the loaded map from atop a tall mountain. After all, I believe the game only loads 4.5 chunks in any direction. The rest are stored to the HDD to free up RAM. Also, note that the sky is actually the Void (or, to make it simpler, the Void is actually the sky). By that logic, looking straight up will have you looking into the Void. Kookas
- If you use essentials plugin and use the /tppos command try entering 0 130 32000000 so that you are in the far lands. i have done some experiments. the world will not generate correctly at all near x/z 32,000,000. but teleporting there causes all surrounding chunks of 32,000,000 will be mis-generated. be sure to enable god mode and creative mode for you will fall through and it will lag, lag, and lag for awhile. so you will die with only creative mode. then use creative to fly out of the void and you will see the coo-coo chunks that you can fall through. the only repair solution for these chunks is mcedit. beware on this fact! so anyway going to the far lands is another way to go into the dephs of the void. Void, when no terrain is displayed.
Sometimes, when you are on a high point, and you change your sight to far, minecraft has to load the terrain, while there is no terrain, you can see the void. --Freaktechnik 20:58, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Just out of curiosity
Has anyone ever tryed to build something OVER the top layer of the bedrock nether?
- Yes, but it is not possible, its like Light trying to get through to the bedrock. --YaYaBinksMinecraft
Lava Lakes can clear massive holes to the Void
No bedrock to stop me because the lava lake's stone bed cleared out the bedrock in map generation.
Here is a screenshot showing what deep down lava/magma lakes can do. I heard that the code for placing these lakes will remove everything (including bedrock) and leave just lava and a stone bed underneath. So, I went searching and found this nice lava lake. If I remove more of the rocks more of the void is revealed. Maybe this can be mentioned in the article? LB 06:00, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, it seems that someone has answered my plea and made a YouTube video and linked it in the article. Thank you :) LB 22:30, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
HELP!On the first few lines of text on this page it says the only way to acess the void is in creative mode yet i have seen 3 lava lakes spawning at y:2 and replacing the bedrock with stone. Please edit that out because i cant for some reason ,and its false – Unsigned comment added by 92.30.173.43 (talk). No Damage Mod: Will it work?
I'm too chicken to try this, but if you have a 'No Damage' mod on, and then fall into the Void, will it work? I'm quite curious. According to the article, it says that after Y-64, it hurts you at a rate of four hearts a second. Is this hard-coded into the game, or can it be overridden by a mod? MKSTAR26 06:43, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
It will work. But once you are in the void, you will be stuck. That's why the void kills you. If you want to jump in, get on a multiplayer server which has plugins (note: SP client mods do not work in SMP for infinite health), so you can rely on a godmode plugin then teleport to home, spawn, or another player. Calinou - talk × contribs » 07:36, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
So what happens when you fall as far as the Far Lands are far away? Would it crash? no but dont do it you will get stuck. MKSTAR26 08:03, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
I have tried jumping into The Void while using SPC to disable fall damage, and damage in general. However, I still lost four hearts per second, and when I ran out of hearts the game crashed. Just tossing that out there. I'll play around with this. // 「RW」 18:50, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
I have used the SPC mod to set an unlimited amount of hearts, and could travel in the Void, I was loosing hearts but since I had over 30000 it wasn't a problem, interresting experiment but there is not much to see actually.
Try God mode. You CANNOT get hurt! Even with /kill or /suicide or /die Aaronfranke
getting in the void from the nether
well i have single player commands i went into the nether and had abit of fun then igot bored and i couldent find my portel so i went into single player comands and typed home(teleports you to spawn) this time it put me in the nether void safe cant get out i would have put a pic but i deleted the world i only started it today.have you had this happen?
Particles in the void
In 1.8, When the player falls into/flies in the void, particles fly past the player with a "hyperspace" effect. Thanks Shellface, wording something like that but including all the info is a little tricky sometimes. --HexZyle 02:10, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

the void in creative mode 1.8.1
i was recently playing inn creative mode and got to bedrock. then, without any editing or mods, i was able to dig right through bedrock and into the void. Is this suppossed to happen? i read this page, and it didn't help, so im just wondering if that is intended , or just a glitch. Please sign your posta with ~~~~
- Yes, it is supposed to happen and you can also fly without mods or hacks thats why i like it. Please sign your posta with ~~~~
Move to "The Sky" section?
In the Category:Environment template. Since the Void is technically part of the sky, shouldn't it be moved from the category "Places" to "The Sky"? Seeing as there will be ACTUAL new "Places", new players might assume the Void is a different realm, like the Nether or the Ender. Verveblade14 23:39, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
- Probably. But it's in places because it exists outside of the overworld. That's the reason i can think of. --HexZyle 03:53, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, But so does the sky :/ -Verveblade14 18:15, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- I thought the sky referred to "objects in the sky", rather than the actual place --HexZyle 19:54, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- That's true... But the void is kind of in the sky. Plus, the Void really isn't like the Overworld, or the Nether.-Verveblade14 20:05, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

- Execta! When I made the new Environment template I putted together "objects in the sky" and putted the void in a different place because you can be IN it, it's not like the sun or moon which are just sprites, the void is an actual place, which you can stand in. Yes it is not like the overworld and nether, but that is why the title of the segment was changed from "dimensions" to "places" somewhere along the way!--Yurisho 20:23, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- You can only stand in it in the way you can stand in the sky. >_> -Verveblade14 20:42, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, if we want to get technical here, you can't be in the sky. You can be in the Air, but not the Sky because it is objective. The air a couple blocks above the world and the air a thousand blocks above the earth is the same. If one were to look up at you, they could say "Hey look who is in the sky". (objective point of view) But technically you aren't in the sky. "The sky is the limit", and since there is no limit, there technically is no sky :P Also, the sky is just the blue colour with a yellow circle that is drawn beyond your reach. You can never go there, as it is not a 3d shape. Its an ever expanding skybox. --HexZyle 03:33, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

The End Void
Is there a void in the end? --Markoszarrate 17:59, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes. The End has a build limit like every other dimension, and falling off the bottom of the map will kill you in the End as it would in the World. Euridicus 00:11, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
messy crossing out
The crossed out bit in the introduction looks very messy. why wasn't it just changed to past tense? I would say that if no more comments are posted here I will change it but I'll probably forget.86.146.120.143 15:45, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
what is the Void's purpose???
what is the Void's purpose
could it be:
- a out-of-the-way to travel to the Nether or the End
- an admin area below the Y and X position that items vanish
- how about a place that could become a future dimention
i like to thing it's a hidden admin area for the developers to mingle online at... then again it could be a way to travel to the Nether or the End without a portal...anyway post what you think the Void's purpose is
thank you

- Well apparently it's just a spot where the map just drops off into nothingness, so it really can't be used for anything because, a: there is nothing to stand on, and b: it is acctualy the end of the map. I'm assuming you mean in SMP because in SSP you are the only one there. P.s. in creative try falling in, and you'll see you can't place blocks like the page said. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.18.55.207 (Talk|Contribs) 16:47, 29 May 2012. This isn't the place for discussion, and there is an actual reason for it. If it wasn't for the void, the ground could go down infinately, and because of the limit of the map height, they can't have it go down forever, otherwise it would cause lag and require a lot of memory for all the blocks it has to load. Also, it would be hard to decide a place to make diamonds, redstone, iron, gold and other ores start. 72.209.199.2 20:34, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
