Icons I found

I went into the GUI folder of the 1.9 Pre-release .jar, and found interesting icons in the slot.png. What stood out was the anvil icon, and even more so the broken shovel. Do you think they'll be able to repair your tools so you don't have to go make more? MegaScience 17:15, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Those have been there for quite a while now... Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 17:17, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, I just joined Minecraft just as 1.8 Pre-release came out, I believe. I'm not sure what was and wasn't there. But are these used, because I haven't seen them yet. If not, they could still be put to use like I've asked... MegaScience 17:45, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
They're unused, somewhat like the purple arrow in the arrows.png file: been there for a while, yet not made into anything. Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 17:49, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, it'd give NPCs purpose if you didn't need to keep remaking that diamond pick after hours of mining to areas unknown. But yes, we'll just have to wait and see how things go, what they have planned. Just hopes and dreams. :) MegaScience 18:00, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Actually, the icons in slot.png are indeed used in-game and have been for a while. They appear in the "blocks" and "items" sections of the statistics menu. --McBob 06:33, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh! Of course. Nice catch, my bad. :o Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 19:12, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, not like they ccan't be used elsewhere. :P This is just hopes, though. Maybe, maybe not. Their decision. MegaScience 03:18, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

I was actually right. Maybe not the icons, but I gotta say: I can predict the near future. MegaScience 16:09, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Grandfathered in?

Out of curiosity, if I have an NPC village in my 1.8, then download 1.9 pre-release, is there any possibility of them spawning in the village I already have, or would I require a whole new map? 208.118.27.217 20:16, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

You'll have to reload the chunk. Delete it in MCEdit, make sure MapFeatures is still set to 1 (mine turned itself off once after I cleared some chunks!), and re-enter that area. Bam, you'll have your very own TESTIFICATEs. Dazuro 01:20, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

The current models.

I believe that these models make almost no sense in regard to current npc models on minecraft. they go from looking like the same base block shape to these weird long-nosed freaks. if this is the final model, I wont be hanging around villagers a lot.

what are you talking about? there are no npcs, these are the only ones. 98.250.202.109 01:18, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

I think he was referring to what we expected, either humans or pigmen. -i don't like the pigmen though. Theesexiestman 06:59, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
NPC = Non-Playable Character. Basically refers to any mob because, as the acronym suggests, the player cannot become them in any way (in the unmodded MC, of course). SN777 Divinus, King of Blargs 13:10, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh... NPC usually means AI talky to when referred to, but as a literal meaning... Yes, sounds bad. Wonder how we could fix this. MegaScience

All the mobs have AI. They can't do anything without AI. All the mods are NPC's. They have always been considered NPC's. I can't believe anyone actually doesn't know this. If you see anything move and react to the player in a game it is an NPC, period.Discount Flunky 00:06, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

GOD...what the heck?

...? They don't look human? It looks like squidward. Or some variation of the surface squidward....I don't even know...

-Agreed Theesexiestman 06:57, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Well if it their looks do not change I am going to see if I can't change their appearance. So yeah they creep me out. Mrwundrful
I call them "Coneheads" myself. - TheBushranger 19:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/squidward-villagers/ I released that this morning. Hope you like it! :D MegaScience 23:50, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

May I ask who squidward even is? And if so who is he? Timberdoodle 19:05, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Are you the only person who doesn't know who Squidward is? Sorry if that sounds rude, but it's really the only way I can present it. I guess Spongebob isn't in some countries... MegaScience 03:18, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Who said they were going to look like humans?Discount Flunky 00:07, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

They look like Bert from Sesame Street. Large head, large nose, monobrow, ect. Liquid Ink 01:34, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Come home yonder villagers

I was in a mine around a desert village and when I came out all of my villagers disappeared. Will they wander far away or run into cacti to death? I mean where did they go?

LOL

"Notch insists that their noses do not look like ducks." Is this a joke? Am I the only one reading it like this??

SQUIDWARD LOL

These things freakin look like Squidward from Spongebob! I would add it in the Trivia section, but it says "Do not submit copyrighted work without permission!" Oh well... 98.179.193.20 23:25, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

That's not copyrighted, and could be added. :) - TheBushranger 07:01, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Read the above messages, already been said. Go download my miniature texture pack that makes them actually Squidwards. MegaScience 07:20, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

How do we know the villager types?

Where did this information about the villager colors come from? --71.119.56.224 00:34, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

due to the fact, where they originally spawn --Wally
No, I got them from the game files. There's a Villager folder in the Mobs folder, and each texture is named by their type/job. MegaScience 07:20, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
