For your consideration
I made some structures in Mine Craft that are built to be replicas of the structures that appear in the NPC village screenshot. If you want pictures of them for additional data, let me know. One of the structures is 8x10x9 on the inside (not including the walls, floor, or roof). This enormous interior suggests that a second floor could easily fit inside with 3 blocks of head room. (I can show you how big that really is on the inside.)
I also have the schematics of each building taken with MC Editor. Contrajoe 16:56, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- Ya I was thinking about how big some of those buildings really are and they must be massive inside. If you want you can post the picture of the interior of the replicas. It would be good to show to people the true scope of those buildings. We don't need a picture of the outside because we already have an official picture of that. Also the schematics wouldn't be good to show on here because there to technical and aren't official. Maybe when they actually come out and we see exactly how they work someone could put the real schematics up. Discount Flunky 17:16, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- I should inform you that the buildings I made contain only cobble stone (some of the official ones contain mossy stone) and that since I can only see one side, I had to guess about window placement on up to 3 sides of the building. If you are okay with that, I can go ahead and place screenshots of them. If not, I will need to add mossy cobblestone. Contrajoe 21:09, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- They don't have to be realistic, the pictures would just be to give example of how big the structures are. We don't have much info to go on so prefect replica would be impossible to produce anyway.Discount Flunky 00:38, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- I got the images uploaded, I just need to know how to post them here and to articles. If you want more, it's certainly available. Contrajoe 23:38, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- I got the images on the article. Hey could you design an Icon for the article? It still needs one of those. I'll figure out how to add once your done. Discount Flunky 06:15, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Are there any standards I need to follow? Are there any guidelines? Are there any requirements/requests regarding it that you have (other than that I make it)?
- I'm new here, so I will see what I can do, but those images and this talk page are the extent of my wiki-ing history. Contrajoe 22:13, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- You don't have to do it if you don't know how too. What I want is a picture for that little image that appears by the article's names on the template. I honestly don't know how to add it if you where to make one, so it's not a high priority. I've been seraching through the source code of many articles and I can't find the any coding that seems to be the tags for the icons. It's ok. I'm sure as soon as NPC's villages are added someone will make one.Discount Flunky 03:37, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Is it worth mentioning in the article that "Village Barely Visible" has a very different appearance from what we've seen heretofor?Contrajoe 00:45, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ya, I would say that. I don't think that the normal buildings have changed much though. There are rumors that they added more types of buildings to NPC villages then just normal houses.Discount Flunky 05:31, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
Just a note to people, hat films said that there would be no npcs in the village, at the moment. I don't post often but I did not see this fact anywhere.----Newby_5719
Yeah the update was getting to big so they had to split it into two updates the second one will come later along with the NPC's placed in-Benawesome150
Reasoning for Article's Existence
I know that articles about NPC villages have been deleted berfore on the grounds that there isn't enough info about them to create one. I feel that there is enough info to warrent the creation of a NPC village article now. We have several statments form Notch saying that he will add NPC Villages in the adventure update, and he has released an official in game picture of NPC villages. I don't know what other details you need? People may be against any speculation that may appear in the article, but you have to agree that there should be an article in the first place. Old Interview of Notch
The section about an interview with Notch needs a source. Could someone please provide one?Discount Flunky 23:10, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
This Article needs an icon picture. How do you even add those? It's the one thing I can't figure out. Discount Flunky 20:51, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Same here.I need help on just regular everything, like how to get stuff on templates and like the stats, like blast resistance, and stuff like that.Ajc 1254 12:12, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
New mobs?
Wow i just thought about something! this may be a little off topic but if they add more mobs ma maybe we could see a herobrine in this and it would do what people have rumored it to do except it's actually a mob! and he'd only have a 15% chance of spawning! you like the idea? --A Big Mojang Lover 13:23, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- 1%, like Spider Jockeys. Herobrine is a legend, he should at least spawn like one. --HexZyle 04:09, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, in the Millenaire mod, there are NPC villages that build their own buildings, gather thier own resources, and similar player-like stuff. So, I think something like Herobrine is entirely possible for Notch (or a modder) to pull off.
Contrajoe 21:13, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
To add to that, enderman seems to be sort of like herobrine.
Contrajoe 12:13, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
I would think Herobrine would only spawn on the sunset and the sunrise and only 5% of the time to be fair and he would drop 3 golden apples and he would still appear on peaceful -Benawesome150
i think thathe could spawn on any diffculy but would behave diffrently on each like on peaceful he might act like an enderman mabye? heshould deffently be able to build though mabye he spawn's in the nether? mabye you need to build a nether portal before he can come to your world and i agree with the way hw would spawn --Thatssss a very nice ssssignauture you have there SSSSSSSssssss, Signed Wildfire 23:49, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Pics with Enderman
How are we sure that is a NPC village? It's cobble stone and moss stone like in the official picture but it could also be something that was built. I mean I use moss for building all the time. I think we need more clarification before we state that it's a NPC.Discount Flunky 04:53, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- That's you.Plus, why would Notch take a pic outside his house when he knows we want pics of an inside of a building in a NPC Village. We got close to that. We can see(not very much) of an inside to the building. So, he has spoiled again.Ajc 1254 15:33, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- The buildup is exactly the same. Glass blocks (windows) are placed at least 2 blocks apart, Moss stone generates randomly up to 1 block above the glass blocks, wooden blocks used as the roof and is constructed in that exact manner --HexZyle 06:21, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Town Borders
What about these town borders which have been mentioned in several tweets by notch and jeb? Not definite enough yet? --Viciarg 20:39, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
- What Notch is talking about is that he wants the NPC villages to have some sort of fence or wall around them so they look more like a town. Though form what he says on twitter it sounds like he can't get them to work right.Discount Flunky 00:06, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
multiple npcs?
is it possible that jeb is planning different types of villages with different mobs/npcs? i think it would be neat if some were human, some pigmen, and maybe even some hostile endermen
That would be amazing, but form what we've been hearing it looks like theirs only going to be one kind for now. O' just you know endermen are hostile NPC's normally.
- That explains why they would carry blocks.Yours truly, Ajc_1254 23:25, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
trading and chatting
maybe the npcs in the second 1.8 relaese will be able to comminicate with the player via images and texts and you could trade with them or do jobs...just a thought--A Big Mojang Lover 23:26, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Fact - Notch stated during the PAX livestream that Jeb wanted to be able to communicate with the NPC's, but Notch didn't really like that idea. He prefers if we couldn't. --HexZyle 03:33, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Citation 6
is incorrect, as the smithy (NOT SMITH, SMITHY IS A BUILDING) itself lit the villages on fire, not a smith NPC.
Not sure who wrote the above, but I also noticed this, and corrected the page Frymaster 23:21, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
No NPCs
I was so excited for NPCs to spawn but it looks like they aren't there yet :(
- They will be added in 1.9. Shockman25 19:04, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
something strange happened
i was playing minecraft 1.8 with a newly geretaed map and set up a base in a ncp village after a while i realised that one of the house's had spawned IN THE GROUND WITH NO DOOR'S the seed i used was =p. No joke i'll upload pic's if you dont belive me there were also some other strange things in that town like 4 block's of grass inside a house? and a cave that spawned right under the path so the gravel fell into it --Thatssss a very nice ssssignauture you have there SSSSSSSssssss, Signed Wildfire 23:56, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Question: Building Descriptions
Sorry, I haven't yet created an account here but I figured I could help a bit . . . I have been checking out different seeded NPC Villages and compiling a list of rough descriptions for each building I've seen thus far. Would it be of interest to anyone who can flesh out the data properly to be added to the wiki? (I am terrible at this sort of thing, mind.)
If someone else is already working on this, I apologize for this comment. 75.53.100.127 02:28, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
-- How many types of buildings have you found? I reckon it would be useful in the future when npcs are created... --Sk9c00 23:53, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
-- Replying to above: I am not sure I've found them ALL yet, considering my samplying is only five villages large and some structures only appeared ONCE for me. Here's the small list.
- Small House
- Small "Cube" House
- Well
- Store/Tavern
- Crafting Shop
- Blacksmith
- Large House
- Wooden Guard Tower
- Stone Guard Tower (Also called "Church" by some)
Beyond those there are "Farms" which are very variable in form, and the torch-posts which aren't guaranteed to even be present. When a village spawns, it seems to generate at last 6 buildings, and other features (such as ravines) can intersect and totally ruin buildings. If they generate on the edge of a biome . . . weird stuff can happen; this is magnified if you are importing from a 1.7.3 map. (Biomes newly generated don't seem to have their Y values meet up smoothly, and sometimes just cut through an old biome completely like a knife edge.
Trivia
What does this mean?
- NPC villages are optional.
How can an automatically generated feature be "optional"? Is there some word that there will be an option to disable them? If so, why? A little more information please.
- Using the seed "Enderman", "gimmeabreak", "666", "cold", or "Lol" will spawn you near a village
Is this really necessary? Any number of random seeds could spawn you near a village. They don't seem to be that rare.
--64.149.42.238 04:55, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
THERE IS A "GENERATE STRUCTURES: ON/OFF" BUTTON UNDER THE "MORE WORLD OPTIONS..." BUTTON UNDER THE "CREATE NEW WORLD" BUTTON.
Seriously? The seeds are there to help frustrated minecrafters out... --Sk9c00 05:17, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- My mistake, I just found the Generate Structures option myself. As for the seeds, listing one should be enough, right? --64.149.42.238 05:55, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
Better include a small list few so we can compare and look around different types without spending a whole day trying out seeds.
Also: the concept of the NPC villages is a bit weird. Why would any sane NPC start a town next to a plain that gets swarmed by horrible creatures every night, some of which can destroy a house in one blast and other just pull the stones out of the roads? Try living in one, after some time they'll look like a warzone. Also code '666' generates a village that's RIGHT ON TOP of a cave that spawns zombies all day long. No wonder everybody is dead. --86.80.116.169 17:17, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
Can you think of anywhere in minecraft where monster's dont spawn? no i thought not the only place that monster's wont spawn is where it is lit up it dosnt matter where you are they will still spawn so its not really that crazy that an ncp would chose that place as a home --Thatssss a very nice ssssignauture you have there SSSSSSSssssss, Signed Wildfire 22:44, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
