Brown Spider
Can someone please add a pic of a brown spider? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tygor97 (Talk|Contribs) 10:53, 11 November 2010 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
- As far as I'm aware, they don't exist anymore, what's the point? –ultradude25 (T|C) at 20:53, 10 November 2010 (CST)
- That's completely different, the code for gears is still in the game and so are the sprites. The brown spider's skin was replaced with the current one. We don't really need a complete history of every time the skin changed with a picture (Although the same could be said for the diamond/gold/iron blocks). Saying what it used to look like is good enough. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 04:43, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- You're the first person I've seen who's even mentioned it since it was changed. It's just a skin, if anything Notch will just set spiders to randomly pick a skin on spawn, then the skin can be added. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 05:02, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- If it doesn't currently exist in any form, then don't add it. --Fishrock123 23:08, 10 November 2010 (CST)
- I dont see what would be wrong with adding a picture of it anyway. It was beta spider, its notable in the spider history.Toadbert
- notch blog has a pic. and notch made a video of them.Toadbert
- The original spider image still has the old spider in its history. I can always restore it if it's really needed. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 03:28, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- Its not really needed, but this is a wiki. its supposed to have complete information about a subject, past and present.Toadbert
- My thoughts exactly. –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tygor97 (Talk|Contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
- Describing it works just fine. It looks exactly the same, just brown. The gold blocks are different because it would be more difficult to describe accurately. --Abcxyq 11:17, 21 December 2010 (CST)

Spider web
What the, i found a spider wed from minecraft's terrain image! Is that going to be added to the game later? Or why it is in there? --NEG4tive 08:12, 13 November 2010 (CST)
- When spiders were first added, Notch had an idea that they could produce web blocks. As far as we know, all he ever did was create that texture, then scrapped the idea.Toadbert
Spider killing
Is ther a limit on how far a spider can sink under water? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by NateD6547 (Talk|Contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
- I thought NPCs continually jumped to the water surface when swimming. ACLECTASIS 08:43, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Water currents. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 09:15, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes with water currents and what I found is that at least in my harvester thay can only sink 3 blocks. Is that true or is it just my trap.
Climbing Walls?
Is there confirmation on this? Any notes on how it works? Will they randomly climb, or only if their pathing takes them to you? Can they climb the bottom of tiles? Alik 21:29, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- Confirmed that spiders climb randomly during their normal movements when they reach a wall or step up, and they will also climb walls to get to the player at night. It *seems* like they can't climb on the bottoms of tiles, but haven't confirmed that part yet. Blocks they can definitely climb: dirt, cobblestone, cacti Djes 16:45, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's pretty much confirmed by me and my friends that Spiders cannot climb ceilings. If you build a fort with a lip around the edge, the Spiders cannot get to you. Shay 16:49, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Nobody is going to get a screenshot of this in action? SteveZombie 23:01, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Spider's climbing
Spiders can now climb up walls, but can they climb up... fences? (sry for bad english) –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pietro06 (Talk|Contribs) 20:11, 14 January 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Spiders CAN climb cactii
In the "history" section of the article, it says that spiders cannot climb cacti. Actually, they CAN and I have proof of it on screenshots (and a video, why not?). Please modify that error, thanks. Oh, and sorry, my english isn't good at all, hope you can comprehend what I'm saying ;) --pochi33 19:00, 15 January 2011 (CST)
Spiders CAN climb soulsand
After many tests, i can say that spiders CAN climb soulsand. They can climb one block and fall, many blocks and fall, or just climb all the way up ! (It seems that if they stop climbing a soulsand wall, they fall.) Here is a screenshot (Sanguine's texture pack).
Spider climbing soulsand.
Be carefull not to rely too much on soulsand to protect your base... --Yamitatsu 09:33, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
You can use that as part of the wiki. A picture of a spider climbing (not necessarily the part about it climbing soulsand)Stinkbug22 22:48, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Spiders CAN climb wool
Did exactly the same tests as with soulsand, and again spider are just a bit annoyed by wool, but they DO can climb it. --Yamitatsu 20:55, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Requesting image of a spider climbing a wall
Would be a nice addition to the article. Ruan942 16:44, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Added a not-great screenshot of one climbing cobblestone. Djes 03:38, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
seeing through walls
"and they were also given the ability to see through walls to make their wall climbing ability more potent. Creepers used to have the ability to see through walls before it was given to the spiders." This line makes it sound like creepers can no longer see through walls anymore, but as far as i'm aware, they can, can I get confirmation?
