Error: Enchantment not found

The give commmand does not work in the real world. When you do /give PLAYERNAME 383 1 120, so get an error message, not an egg.

FIXED: the correct input should be /give PLAYERNAME 383:ITEMCODE AMOUNT 60.225.96.198 20:34, 18 December 2012 (UTC) Prot0n

Make sure you don't use any Server Modifications(Bukkit+Plugins), the Command listed in the Article is for Vanilla Servers --Sfan5 21:22, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

He had the original commands right. If he's on single player and it gives him an error it's because: 1. He doesn't have cheats enabled. or 2. He has some mod/plugin installed that uses different commands, like the person above me suggested.

If it's neither of those two reasons then one of your files must be corrupt. If commands don't work check to make sure cheats are enabled, get more details about a mod/plugin you installed to see if the command would be changed, or if all else fails uninstall then install the game again. If all of the above don't work, God help you cause I sure can't. 74.34.78.34 20:35, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Hacked eggs not working

I cannot use hacked eggs (ones that are not available in creative mode menu). When I right click with them, nothing happens (egg will not be even consumed when in survival mode). -matejdro

Confirmed. This is restricted to the latest snapshot, however; it works normally in 1.1. --74.83.41.50 02:54, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

you can also get these eggs using commands.

Hacked eggs will not work, it is not a bug, read the Spawn Egg page. Also, it will be colored white-grayish meaning that it is hacked and cannot be used. 71.136.228.131 00:29, 9 September 2013 (UTC), aka ppaxson

Speculation

The Enderdragon Egg could be related to these eggs. (Just shifted this bit of speculation over from article to talk page). Zogen :3 22:53, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Maybe, maybe not. Since we know nothing of its eventual purpose, it's far too early to say. Shellface 23:01, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

.JPG?

…Damn. Can I request someone hastily get a .png in here? I'm having problems getting the new .jar to work, so I myself can't. Then we could get the grid files done, and a .gif of them too. Shellface

I tried to yesterday, but it kept saying something about the wrong MIME type. I selected the 16x16 around the egg, pasted it, resized it to 128x128 I think, and saved it as a .png. No idea why it's not accepting the image. Funky3000 14:30, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Are you sure it has a proper filename? e.g. [filename].png.png? Even then, it would be nicer to have essentially the same image as there is now, but better quality(read:.png). Shellface 16:48, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
I believe the wrong MIME type error is since you are trying to replace a JPG with a PNG. If you were to upload a PNG as a new file and then get the JPG deleted, that should work. I don't know of any alternatives way of changing file types. Ordona 02:54, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
After saving 20 or so pictures to my computer, I finally have a 64x64 .gif done. And good quality at that. Thank god Paint.net allows high quality .gifs.Funky3000 05:02, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, but I already finished setting up my Gif and putting it in, as well as the 20 32x32 inv images. I even edited the Item template to support twenty inv images, which I made sure to also add to the documentation for the template. MegaScience 05:37, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
In regards to the MIME type error. If you want to replace a jpg with a png, you have to change the link on the page to be File:<filename>.jpg. You can't simply upload a png over the top of a jpg. The existing jpg does NOT have to be deleted first. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 05:49, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

add names and descriptions to the eggs

the eggs should be sepparated and named soon.

Color Explanations

Maybe we could also have a chart for each color (maybe a picture) and the mob it produces.

Spider Jockeys

Has anyone tested clicking on a spider with a skeleton egg yet? Funky3000 14:27, 9 December 2011 (UTC) I'm pretty sure that it's spiders that spawn jockeys, and I made a huge amount of spiders, but no jockeys.

You can't spawn a Spider Jockey by shooting Skeleton eggs at a Spider. Spiders, when spawned, is given a random number. If the random number is the same as a ceratin one, then the game will allow to have a Skeleton riding on the spider.(ex:Let's say that 6183 is the Skeleton Upgrade. then the game produces these numbers for the spiders: SpiderA:7642, SpiderB:0423, SpiderC:1469, Spider D:6183. When these four Spiders spawn, only SpiderD becomes a Spider Jockey.)

Dispensing

They should spawn a mob if ejected from a dispenser. That would be amazing for adventure maps.

[pressure plate step] 'click' "That's a very niccce everything you have there..."

I was wondering whether this was included or not - like you said, it would have great use in adventure maps. So at the moment these eggs can't be dispensed? -- Carralpha 19:52, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
No they can't.
^Sign yo posts^ And no they definitely can't be dispensed. I've tried many permutations and no success. Shame. Zogen :3 18:38, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Despawn

Do they despawn?

they act like regular mobs, so if hostile and neutral(excluding wolf) yes. If passive (excluding squid and ocelots) no. Don't forget to sign your name. Noobnathan 16:06, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

This is wierd

Why add chicken eggs, when in creative make regular eggs spawn chickens EVERY time? From Moi, Ajc_1254 00:00, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Because 1: Those are regular eggs that spawn Baby Chickens. 2: The point is to spawn fully functional mobs the same way as they'd be naturally spawned. MegaScience 06:40, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Name Change Suggestion

I've found it weird the page is called "Spawner Egg." It doesn't sound right at all to me. Does anyone else think we should rename it "Spawn Egg?" It's also closer to correct since the base of the item is called "Spawn" and it is an Egg for the such. MegaScience 06:40, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Help

How do I get these in Creative mode? I can't find them.

Im having the same problem... they wont apear nomater how many times I force update... :(
Are you two using a texture pack? If so, switch back to the default Minecraft texture pack and see if the eggs show up. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:02, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Yeah im having the same problem. Running the default texture pack.

Forcing update will update to last STABLE version, so ou must download weekly release and replace minecraft.jar manually. Xeoxer 16:17, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Not Spawning Stuff

The example says "/give PLAYERNAME 381 1 63". Right above that though, it says you can't spawn Snow Golems, Giants, Spider Jockeys, and ENDERDRAGONS! xD alexkill51 - 22 December 2011

Unavailable = not available in Creative Mode Item Selection, but still accessible using SMP command "/give". Maybe you could re-phrase the description, so it will be more clear? (sorry, my English isn't very good) --mgr 10:57, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh, wow! Didn't know that. Well, still, it could seem unclear like it did for me. alexkill51 - 24 December 2011 (Christmas Eve)

[:HACKED:] Actually, you can spawn the Ender Dragon- and ride it! First, use /give PLAYERNAME 137 1, and you will get a command block. Then copy and paste this text into it: /summon Minecart ~ ~1 ~ {Riding:{id:"EnderDragon"}}

That will spawn the Ender Dragon in the overworld! You will need to connect a lever to the command block though. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.115.92.155 (talk) 16:38, 16 January 2014(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Full list of spawnable items?

What are all of the things that can be spawned by the eggs when using /give? Scar7752 :3 20:31, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

See: Data values#Entity IDs. But beware, as some entities require additional data and could crash the server (dropped item, falling block) or behave strangely (all projectiles have 0 speed; Primed TNT explodes instantly). Oh, and Enderdragon is a very bad idea ;]. --mgr 22:01, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Image showing the sep. textures

You can put this image in the trivia if you want: http://i.imgur.com/Ixuph.png (Don't CLICK this link, copy/paste it into a new tab / window, else it will give 403 forbidden) —Iyeru 08:56, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Name change perhaps?

Should we perhaps rename this article to its original name? After all; http://www.mojang.com/2012/01/19/minecraft-snapshot-12w03a/ Jeb called it a spawner egg. Does that make it official? :3 Zogen :3 19:17, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

No. As you would see if you cared to scroll up slightly, you would see the official name is "Spawn [ENTITYNAME]". Shellface 21:32, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Snow Golem

Snow Golem should not be on the list of Unavailable since its an crafted mob.

Snow golems would be unavailable BECAUSE it's a mob that can be crafted. For this reason it was not made into a spawn egg. The same goes for the Iron Golem. Also, always sign your posts. 74.34.78.34 20:44, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Spawn Item

Game crashes if you try to use egg with damage 1(spawn item).

enderdragon?

I have the newest prerelease installed and I still don't see the enderdragon spawn egg. Why did somebody put it in 'available'? Xeoxer 22:14, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Fixed, thanks. --mgr 23:22, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. Using SinglePlayerCommands-MC1.2.5_V3.2.2, i was able to get Ender Dragon eggs: item 363:63 (the official table ends with 62), but i wasn't able to use it in creative mode in the world i was in, maybe enderdragon can only be spawned in The End. Greetings from Switzerland

If you have singleplayercommands do /spawn enderdragon <amount>. Any egg that is not in creative tab is colored white-gray and cannot be used. 71.136.228.131 00:34, 9 September 2013 (UTC), aka ppaxson

Display bug

I was using some spawn eggs in 1.1, and by accident, I dropped 64 zombie eggs. The spots seemed to come off the blue eggs! Screenshot Quietsamurai1998 18:50, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Ender Chrystal

This entity is also not spawnable :o Shouldn't that be added too to "unspawnable" ?

No, ender crystals are not mobs so they shouldn't be added. Electrk 20:06, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
No, because that list only includes mobs. While the Ender Crystal is an Entity, it is not a mob. MOBS, not Entities, are included on that list. Apocalyptic Builder 02:04, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Why is 'cat' in the unspawnable category?

Saying that cats are not spawnable is like saying that tamed wolves are not spawnable; what in the world did you expect? LB 16:25, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

if we look at this that way, then cats and ocelot need to have one page and be considered one mob. in difference to wolf the cat has a different size than the ocelot so i can see why its considered a different mob. Also the texture of cats vary from the ocelot, whereas the texture from the wolf and the tames wolf only vary very little (collar) -Wally

In fact most people consider cats and ocelot to be one mob and that the pages should be merged - see: Talk:Cat#Merge_with_Ocelot.
I think that we should remove Cat from the table and instead note what subtypes are and are not spawnable (i.e. you can spawn different slimes but only white sheep, default villager). --mgr 17:03, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Why is this "planned"?

It's in the game!--99.25.90.235 22:58, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Fixed, thanks! --mgr 01:30, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Redirect from Monster Egg?

I have always known Spawn Eggs as Monster Eggs and had never heard of Spawn Eggs. It took me a bit of searching to realise this was the right page. Is there any chance we can get a redirect from Monster Eggs to Spawn Eggs to prevent this from happening to others? 82.19.115.51 02:49, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Monster Eggs do exist, so this would cause more confusion. Crazytobuildmc (talk) 14:05, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

Spawn eggs can spawn entitys

Well, I was playing around with mcedit, and decided to hack in some unavaliable spawn eggs. Believe it or not, it said "Spawn TNT". I used it and it didn't spawn TNT, just an explosion. So, it must have been primed TNT, an entity. Ultimately, you could be able to spawn sand and gravel in the falling form.--81.178.145.93 15:55, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Are you sure? Before 1.2, it was possible to spawn some entities, but in the current version it isn't working. What version are you using? --mgr 16:20, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

I am using 1.1 because McEdit crashes when I am in 1.2.1 or further...--81.178.145.93 16:37, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

How to obtain?

In surrvial mode, how do you get this? 71.20.194.33 22:45, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

There are currently no ways to legitimately obtain any in vanilla survival. As far as I know, there are no current plans to add this in future versions. 65.167.211.139 18:17, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Giant?

I'm pretty sure that the giant wasn't a boss, and still isn't counted as one when hacked into the game. Am I right, or just being noobish? Pawsrent 01:34, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Xbox spawning

When are spawn eggs coming to Xbox?

spawner eggs

I downloaded the spawner egg option on my xbox, but cannot find it anywhere in my game, what am I doing wrong?

can't find eggs/enemies I purchased?

I downloaded points, confirmed what I wanted, it was successful but I can not find the items I purchased in the games?

when are new spawn eggs coming?

spawn eggs are fun and all but when are there going to be more spawn eggs for ever single mob like the enderdragon, wither, iron golem, and snow golem? and when are wither skeletons geting spawn eggs of their own?--enderman482026 01:57, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

You don't have to do that anymore, with the new 1.7 Official Release, the first snapshot, 13w36a came out and many new commands came out. You now use /summon <mob> <amount> <x> <y> <z> {NTBedit}tags} 71.136.228.131 00:37, 9 September 2013 (UTC), aka ppaxson

I Built A Jail Cell But...

I was in a Creative game and decided it would be fun to build a jail with Iron Bars as the bars. I spawned all creatures in cells (except Endermen, Withers, Ghasts, stuff like that). They couldn't escape lol! Then, I quit the game and came back, but then, all monsters were missing. What happened??? MegaMinecraftWuvvvvver 00:59, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Hostile Mobs always despawn after time. No way to stop it in Vanilla Minecraft (Minefactory Reloaded has Jailer's Safari Nets that, when used, catch a mob to be placed later, without being able to despawn). Try jailing passive mobs instead, as they don't despawn. Crazytobuildmc (talk) 14:03, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
  • Try using the tag DoNotDespawn using a command block. They will not despawn, then. This is just like, in igloos[ 1.9 ], the zombie in the basement CreeperSlimeEnderman (talk) 03:27, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
    • The tag for that is PersistenceRequired. DoNotDespawn is not a real tag. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 22:18, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Pictures

Does anyone have any pictures of the spawn eggs for the ender dragon and the wither? Meaning the ones that would be obtained through the give command. Any ideas? Brickticks (talk) 21:12, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

If you do get one, it will be like a chicken's egg. CreeperSlimeEnderman (talk) 16:27, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
It won't be like a chicken's egg, it'll be like that image on the page titled "spawn egg without colors". And CreeperSlimePig, there's no need to respond to talk page entries that are so old .. And if you do, you may as well be accurate about it. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 19:28, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Datatags

Should you be able to use datatags and command blocks to give you a tame horse spawn egg? Ash4fun (talk) 15:24, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Currently spawn eggs do not support data tags, just mob types. You can get one using /summon though. --KnightMiner (t|c) 21:29, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
