Wobble shader image[]

Could someone please create a GIF of the wobble shader? Lennbot (talk) 14:07, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

And, while we're on the subject could the user who uploaded the images please do an image of "bumpy" that looks like it? (No offence) Lennbot (talk) 13:02, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh sorry, it does look like it on the full resolution, but not on the 300px? Is there any way it can be fixed. Lennbot (talk) 13:06, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Im the guy who uploaded the pictures. Do you want the seed and coordinates so whoever can make a gif of the same place? --Saanoth (talk) 20:37, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Yes please, that would be good. Lennbot (talk) 16:59, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

What is, exactly, the real utility of Shaders? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 189.40.65.38 (talk) 12:37, 21 September 2013‎(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I'm not sure, but, like when portals were first introduced and could be spawned with a key, I think it's just a test and Dinnerbone will give them a purpose, but I don't know anything for sure. And remember to sign your comments with four tildes. Lennbot (talk) 12:56, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Shaders are used for adding visual effects and fidelity to games. I have no idea as to what Mojang is going to do with them. I think the shaders in the snapshot (as in: the ones presented in this page) is more of a tech-demo ("look what we can do!") than a feature that is going in the final release (1.7, that is). If you want to know a little more about shaders and why shaders are awesome, check out this powerpoint-presentation from nvidia: developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/gamedev/docs/ShaderIntegration_China.pdf If you just want to check really fast why shaders matters, go to slide 4 (No Shaders vs Shaders). --MarkusIggy (talk) 02:03, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Bigger resolution pictures[]

The difference between certain shaders are very precise, shouldn't they be at a higher resolution in the article? At least 400 or 500? --Saanoth (talk) 13:13, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

I agree. The Bumpy shader image could definitely do with that. At 300px it looks nothing like the original or the actual game! Lennbot (talk) 17:34, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Alright I'm raising the level. It'll also fit the box a lot more snuggly! I'm thinking around 450px --Saanoth (talk) 17:40, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Done and done. Whatcha think? --Saanoth (talk) 17:43, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

HELP![]

For some reason, I can't get Minecraft back to default shade, does the game randomly choose a new shade when you hit Super Secret Settings, or is it sequential? I had to roll back to vs 1.6.4 to get it to go away. And the items are blurred in my inventory as well, I use a very HD resource pack, but this has never happened before. It was fixed when I rolled back. Weird. Mokiki (talk) 13:35, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Hmm... I think mine went back when I logged out and in, but I also found that the "antialias" shader is close enough to normal to be playable. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 13:49, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Location?[]

Where are the .json files for these shaders located? Can't find them.

Should really be on the main article.

How to create shaders[]

Does anyone have any idea about the code behind these? I've found the file location, but I can't figure out what any of the code means. If you find out this imformation, then I suggest adding it to the article. XxKingFlameTailxX (talk) 15:18, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

It looks like the code for the shaders are found in the minecraft.jar for the snapshots, under /assets/minecraft/shaders/program/. Fragment shaders in .fsh-files, vertex shaders in .vsh-files, and settings in .json-files. --MarkusIggy (talk) 02:17, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
That much is obvious, but how about actually editing them? So far I have discovered that it will only read customized shader files if you delete META-INF. As for actually modifying the files, nothing I've tried has produced more than a black screen. /to help with the above question, the shaders are written in GLSL. Learn it and you might be able to figure out how to make your own shaders. 99.10.182.232 01:47, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Shaders don't work :([]

I'm using the snapshots that are supposed to support shaders but when I press the Super Secret Settings button nothing happens aside from a random noise. All the wiki says is that it doesn't work for some people but it has no explanation for it.

Could someone help me out?

Notch Shader[]

To me, the notch shader looks like the game Dwarf Fortress (at least while you are underground), which is one of the games that Minecraft is based on. Do you think that I should add it?

Additionally, should I post the code of the shaders here? I think I know how to edit them, I'll have to experiment some more though.

Press F4 to clear the shader[]

Just thought that this might be helpful. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.247.155.169 (talk) 21:24, 30 November 2013(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

This is the disable key, and it's already mentioned. Kanegasi C 09:57, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

RE: Notch shader.[]

To me the Notch shader looks more like the shader that Notch has been applying to his new games, like in Shambles and the new game he is working on in his twitter feed (What is that game even called?). It looks like its using a 256-color palette and dithering to appear normal.

editing shaders[]

i have a question, is there a file in a resource pack that displays all the shaders. so i can make a custom shader? I have a idea for a map that needs shaders like this

It's in pocket? How?[]

I noticed that for the change list for this is shows that shaders have been added in 0.10.0 . It is 0.11.1 and I don't know how to use them. Were they removed or not? Will I have to go to settings and do invert colors to do invert shaders on an iPad? Boorider7 (talk) 14:21, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

you dont! the top of the article spesifecly sais that it is a java edition exlusive feature!!!!! --173.180.201.172 21:02, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Something that is missing[]

What about the love.json shader? It was in the Love and Hugs update, but I dont think that it is in Super Secret Settings, I think the love.json should be also added to the list on this page. Plastacikec (talk) 20:00, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

If you think it is appropriate to be added to the page, then add it! ~ Headquarter8302 User page - User talk 22:45, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay :) But what preview image do I put there? Plastacikec (talk) 19:09, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Anything you think is appropriate, even without an image is fine. Just describe what the shader does to the view ~ Headquarter8302 User page - User talk 23:50, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks :) Going to add it now :) Plastacikec 11:46, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
