I can't confirm with resistance effect not reducing starvation damage prior to 1.9.

Negative Values?

Can resistance have negative values that allow for being more vulnerable to damage?

Drowning?

An IP address added and then removed drowning from the list of damage sources unaffected by Resistance. It seems to me that it's reasonable for drowning to be exempt from the Resistance effect but I don't know if that's how the game works. Does anyone know whether this should be included after all? Don't know about java edition, but resistance appears to reduce drowning damage in bedrock – JEC _talk @ 17:47, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
