Notch's Collision physics quote from Reddit[]

"Partly, yes. I've added the code for multiple segments for larger mobs so each part has its own collisions and physics. It knows if you hit it in the head or the left wing, and each part has individual player collisions, and so on. On a technical level, it works by letting each entity define a bunch of sub entities if it wishes to. The entity is fully responsible for all physics and saving and loading of the sub entities. It's working surprisingly well, and it appears to be working in multiplayer as well, although I haven't started testing the dragon in MP yet. Originally, it hit walls and couldn't move through them. It awkwardly turned around and changed direction. The player can easily create walls on their own, and trying to make an AI to properly navigate arbitrary terrain before the code freeze next tuesday isn't feasible when there's so much more we need to do. And since the dragon is going to start out as an overpowered boss enemy (I'm definitely adding less overpowered dragons for the main world after release), we don't want too many easy ways to deal with it, so we had a short design meeting and decided to make it cheat."[1] --Ecksearoh 18:22, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

All those looking here for info on 1.6, red dragons ARE coming, today actually. (6/13/13) All the past 1.6 snapshots have that red thing in them, its a head of a red dragon. Now compare these textures with the red thing.--173.23.169.98 13:13, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Unmerge[]

Since there are two (and possibly more) dragons, we need an unmerge of at least the history section of the dragon pages. (since both the Red Dragon and the Enderdragon have the exact same history information and it is redundant. Perhaps restore the dragon page to its original state and then delete the history sections off both this and the Enderdragon pages. --HexZyle 13:21, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

To whoever wrote that last sentence after "dragons have 6 limbs"...[]

I took the liberty of removing your post due to lack of citation and poor formatting, in addition to making references to a need for chain armor, which cannot be legitimately obtained. Cobalt32 17:29, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Its added again. Someone thought it was really important to put this on the wiki Lynder 14:47, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Just move it to the Trivia.-jpgar

Red Dragon Texture?[]

I retextured the Enderdragon to look like a dragon that is red (maybe the Red Dragon), and acts like an Enderdragon though. I made a youtube vid of some pictures I took of the "Red Dragon". Wanna see? (As in the person who contributed most of the Red Dragon page?) :P

By the way, it's on my talk. alexkill51 - 31 October 2011 (Halloween)

Update[]

I tried to add this;

After Jeb took over the head of Minecrafts developement Team, Je was asked again if they will appear in a upcoming update. Jeb didn't seem to know Notch had promised them and admitted he did not know when they would happen.<ref>[http://twitter.com/#!/jeb_/status/157045618005651456 link]</ref>

Sadly for the second time I've been prevented makes to the way the wikia makes you do edits. You have to preview them first, which is nice except if you have external links, you find your stuck in a never ending ccircle of having to preview then haveing the save being cancelled by mathematics. 86.172.137.178 20:36, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Ok, WHAT?[]

Could someone remove the "Look" section? Cobalt32 01:17, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Done. It would be harder to catch false info/vandalism if people tried to make it sound believable. Orthotope 02:06, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

IKR? That guy failed the most at "Red Dragons are purple". Cobalt32 03:32, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Dragons are already implemented in 1.1[]

reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/p9klh/dragons/

This shows two kinds of dragons, a red dragon and a white dragon spawned (I have tested this and have found more than two colours of dragons including a green one) in the normal world via commands. It shows the change of skins of dragons in the normal world.--2.30.43.219 15:34, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Technically, it isn't implemented per se if it doesn't actually get used in the game. Cobalt32 15:40, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

While making a texture pack, i found the enderdragon file, and i got in it. i saw there was a white/empty texture, when i checked it, i painted the backround black, and boom! transparent enderdragon with weird eyes. this can be used as grass ,to change colors, so dragons may alredy exist. enyone check the code! -jpgar

Lairs implemented?[]

I never found a dead end in a cave with the size of an ender dragon which may be a dragon lair. Can anyone confirm that they actually exist? Lynder 14:59, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

It's just a guy who thinks he can be one of the "greatest discoverers of all time" or something. Those caves have been there, and looked like that for a long time. Before beta, I believe. He keeps reverting it, even though CAVES have nothing to do with this article. I'm certain dragon lairs would have a different appearance. I ask for a revert, and a lock on the trivia section. -Daniels_grant1 99.115.38.247 23:23, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Huh? I never knew those cave were there before 1.8.1, since I got the game at that version. Sorry for any inconvience caused. Sonickyle 09:55, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I bet Lairs would be full of Ores, it'd make sense as Dragons hoard Gems. Spinosaurus4 19:28, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

I see the Hobbit reference here

AMA[]

I remember on Jeb's AMA on reddit he said they would be added because Notch pretty much promised tnem. In the same comment he said that they would add horses because he promised it to a friend.

Red Dragons have been delayed for at least 2 years.[]

... Reply if you have any questions about it. P.S. Later i will post a video of my texture for the red dragons.

idea for red dragons when in minecraft[]

when red dragons are installed they should be in a volcano or on it and there should be an egg at the top of it so if u kill the dragon u could hatch and adopt your own--enderman482026 02:28, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

How I thought of doing it was to have the dragon's hit detection about ten blocks from it's body, so it can detect block before it is in a position to cause in being stuck. also, it could fly upward depending on how far away an block is from the dragon, so it could have a gentle rise with the terrain or a vertical stall. as well, it could glide down at different speeds depending on it's altitude. of course, it would also be able to land on flat arias and glide over rigid terrain bellow them without slope. this format could have the dragon start out at the top of the volcano, glide of, quickly rise over extreme hills, glide over forests and oceans, slightly rise over hills, dive from mountaintops and land in deserts, plains and snow bioms. I don't no what it would do in a jungle were the treetops extend from were it detects. Sythirian 15:03, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

if tameable what would it eat? --72.20.70.250 03:48, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Isn't Red Dragons rejected/scrapped idea?[]

It just randomly sitting here, and poor newbies thinks, that its going to be implemented... 194.146.217.38 13:47, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

No. Jeb stated that he would implement red dragons, but he wasn't sure how. But as far as I know now, they aren't currently in development.--68.117.179.164 15:01, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

name game[]

could someone think of a better name for red dragons . nickname purposes--72.20.70.250 20:30, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Sky Dimension[]

The Sky Dimension was also a rumor in Minecraft about a dimension in the sky where Red Dragon's were.

Can an admin fix the redirect's section link?[]

The "Red Dragon" header was renamed to "Red dragon", breaking the redirect section link.

Since the page is protected, I would like to request that an admin fix the redirect to that it points to Mentioned features#Red dragon. 98.201.102.10 19:51, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Fixed: Did not need an admin, just any old logged in user. KnightMiner t/c 20:31, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
