They are destroyed by water

Should be added? They are also destroyed by water.

They're not only destroyed by water. They react quiet glitchily with water. It's almost like they get converted into springs when they're touched by water, but only some of them. Can someone put that on the page? I'm not sure how to word it myself. A mine full of mine tracks can be completely flooded by one little spring. But like I said, I'm not good at phrasing things for wiki pages.

Could you reword it to sound a bit more encyclopedic? Let me try and do that:

Minecart Tracks may sometimes become springs due a rare glitch.

How? Also, diagonal tracks disappear when exposed to water. They don't drop tracks. PurpleKiwi 21:59, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Tracks are also destroyed by lava, and then the "dropped" tracks are consumed and permanently destroyed. Beware! <<Pulpo 20:11, 8 April 2011

Advanced info

Someone with enough knowledge should add advanced information about Rails. Things like boosters, jumps and so on. --CrazyTerabyte 14:25, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

I added some information about boosters to the Minecart article. That should be enough, because track intersections are track based and boosters are cart based. --Madgeek 09:56, 19 October 2010 (CDT)

Is anybody familiar with the uphill mechanics? How far apart should I place the powered rails when going uphill on a 2:1 slope? (2 forward, 1 up)

Reclaim

Is it possible to reclaim tracks? --MarauderIIC 04:55, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

As in break them and pick them back up? Yes, you can do that. -F1racer101 05:08, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Track Building Behavior

I found that, when building tracks, they react very similarly to another game- (The earlier versions, I never played the later versions) Roller Coaster Tycoon. Does anybody else see this similarity? 99seconds 17:56, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Yea I Think Thats what Notch said they were based on or inspired by Adi Tetac 18:18, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I dont see how they were inspired from rct.Toadbert

New rule

While playing with minecart tracks I discovered that minecarts will move downhill if possible at t intersections, I put my explaination of this in the page but my pictures are rubbish so if anyone can make them better please do so, I just wanted to explain it properly. New name?

In the window in your inventory, it says 'Rails'.

Do we need a name-change to update the wiki, or is the subtext 'Minecraft Tracks or Rails' enough.

Mob spawning

Can mobs spawn on rails? I have a rail section on grass, and I need to know whether pigs and such will spawn (and block) my minecart, or screw up my boosters. 99seconds 20:45, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

I've had pigs and such spawn in a 1x2 cart tunnel with a grass floor and glass walls — this was before Halloween, however. —KPReid 22:07, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

I was using my rail line when up I ahead I saw a creeper. There was no block for it to spawn on except for the rail, as I had created it underground. 68.104.214.248 15:46, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Beta 1.2

Did rails break? I mean, now they will always point in one direction when placed, no matter the surrounding tracks, although the surrounding tracks WILL be updated to the right direction. FragPl0x

I think they did. Somehow a creeper got into my mine (completely sealed off) and blew up, upsetting some of my tracks, and now I can't fix the boosters.Ramps and turns are completely messed up now. Can anyone else confirm?--Capt0z 06:14, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
I noticed when I attempted to place a torch in a hole in a ceiling in one of my caverns by right clicking the ceiling itself and not the side of a block, the torch seemed to just float there. It did eventually pick a side and stick normally, but it was odd. Sounds related here as well. Perhaps this has something to do with the new rendering method Notch implemented? Blocks Adjacent to Corners slow Minecarts?

I've been trying to build a minecart transport from my base and I notice how many boosters I needed just to get it past the walls. It's only about 20 track pieces too. I was looking, and it seems that blocks adjacent to corner tracks slow down the cart considerably. I have also seen videos of adjacent presure plates being pushed. If all this is true, does that mean the rail's optimum building system is 3x3 or larger? This may be obvious to some, but I just started playing about a week ago. --Xexoy2 (Sign your posts with ~~~~)

1.5 bug?

When attempting to build sloped track on sand, the track pieces don't appear to connect and slope. In addition it appears this affects would-be slopes in trying to connect to curves. Kage 10:16, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Intersection Precedence

The intersection precedence rules need clarification. When coming to a T or crossing, is the order of precedence Downhill, west, south? For bonus points, either a discussion on how to influence the cart direction, or a link to the discussion would also be helpful.

Also, does it matter when laying down the track which direction a cart may take or how the intersection will appear? --BrewMAJ 15:41, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Powered rails

In my game, when I place powered rails, they do not turn. Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

You need to connect the powered rails with other rails. You can remove the other rails after, if needed. Calinou - talk × contribs » 22:44, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Sound Bug

--Ktx2skd 18:37, 13 July 2012 (UTC)Moving on the Rails with your feet will produce the sound of the block underneath the Rails, whereas moving while being in midair (whether you start the jump before or while you are on the Rails) will produce the sound of something different, a sound that was probably meant to be for the Rails themselves. Please confirm.

I confirm this, but this is not a bug, because you are technically walking on the block below. It's like if you somehow clip through a grass block and it sounds like you're walking on stone. The rail is the grass block. Enderderp572 (talk) 00:20, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

we need a new piece of track

in minecraft i have noticed that when placing the tracks you cannot make them cross over in the form of a "+" i have had to make several adjutments to all tracks because of it, if the tracks could form a + shape which allowed for the player to cross the piece in any direction then this would help me and many other players.

Try RailCraft(at least, that's what I think it's called), or ask Jeb! :D That's always an option. Enderderp572 (talk)

Rail Curves Switching

I was playing in 1.6.2 recently and noticed that curved tracks didn't switch direction when powered. They used to, didn't they? If this was removed, when did that happen? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.53.218.144 (talk) 04:03, 31 July 2013(UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Still works; this only happens with the curved rails at 'T' intersections. -- Orthotope talk 05:49, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Rail Duplication

Rails can be duplicated with a piston glitch. [1] --GluonGuy 16:23, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
