Merging pages[]

So apparently someone says we should merge this block with either Carpet, or Moss Block. What do you guys think? Should Moss Carpet be on the same page as Moss Block, Carpet, or neither of them? Falconpunch100 (talk) 00:46, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Well obviously it's not an actual carpet, so it shouldn't go on the same page as the wool ones. It could go in the same page as the moss block, but they don't share a lot of properties in common besides the name and look, so they're probably all better off staying on their own pages.  Oppose merging with Moss Block, as they are different enough to warrant their own page, as the (wool) Carpet page isn't merged with Wool. I was going to say I am neutral on whether we should merge with Carpet or have its own block, but personally, I prefer having things have their own page rather than merged, especially if they have differences, as I want Glow Ink Sac to remain independent rather than merged with Ink Sac (but not taking this too far, as acacia stairs should definitely be merged as part of Stairs) So  Weak Oppose merging with Carpet as this moss carpet is still different from wool carpet. They are different blocks, with different properties, so no - they should not be merged. This would be comparable to putting wool on the same page as carpet - which is obviously ridiculous. Hbop5008 (talk) 08:28, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
I think this is rather clear already but I suggest waiting a few more days before removing the move suggestion. Or even more opposition should show up to warrant calling it a consensus. (I oppose this merge request as well for reasons already provided above.) Dhranios (talk) (Join the wiki videos project!) 08:56, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Oppose per above. TheGreatSpring (talk) 09:15, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Weak Support I thing that carpet and moss carpet are almost same blocks, only difference is that moss block can be bone mealed to get moss carpet. xrup (Talk) Magma Cube jumping 12:27 4.2.2021
Strong oppose for merging with moss block as carpet is not part of wool.  Weak oppose for merging with carpet becuase is very similar to a carpet but they can spawn when bone mealing moss carpet.Humiebee (talk) 20:44, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Strong oppose for merging with carpet; while superficially similar, moss carpet is (supposed to be) a natural block which (currently) cannot be pushed by pistons, and is obtained by bonemealing moss blocks - none of those are true for regular carpets. If merging with carpet, the entire page would need to be split into carpet behaviour and moss carpet behaviour.  Oppose merging with moss blocks, since again, they have different behaviours - I think that if two blocks have different blast resistance, they probably shouldn't be on the same page.--Canarussia (talk) 06:07, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
Well, if people are against merging this with any of the other blocks and should be left on its own, then I also  Oppose. Them having different blast resistances should mean they should remain separate. Is it about time we concluded this discussion and keep all these pages as-is? Moss carpet does break faster with hoe.[]

On the wiki it says that "Unlike moss, carpets are not destroyed more quickly when using a hoe.". This is untrue as of 18.2. Using an unenchanted diamond hoe, moss carpet breaks instantly but even with Diamond Pick Axe or Axe enchanted with Efficiency V takes a few micro seconds.

I don't have the actual numbers to make a Breaking time table, but the page should be updated.

A difference of "a few micro seconds" is effectively no difference at all. Players are not concerned with negligible differences. The best test is to try it with unenchanted wooden tools to see if the difference is humanly noticeable. Amatulic (talk) 01:30, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
