Formula probably incorrect
This article says "Time taken to destroy blocks is multiplied by 3 ^ level." That contradicts Breaking#Speed, which says "The speed is also increased by (20×level)% per level of Haste, while Mining Fatigue decreases it by 70% for level I, 91% for level II, 99.73% for level III, and 99.919% for all other levels." But both don't really work in my test. I wanted to test whether Mining fatigue 126 could be used to make block breaking essentially impossible. So I took an Efficiency 5 gold shovel, gave myself Haste 2 and Mining fatigue 126 and mined a snow layer. According to the formula here, this should take 117047642866854295674666898962796109064121568068438 years, according to the formula on Breaking, this should take 2 game ticks (rounded up). But it actually takes about 3½ seconds. So what is the real formula for breaking time? And if this is known, couldn't it be summarised to one mathematical formula? All these different wordings of breaking time vs. breaking speed, distributed over multiple articles, is pretty confusing. Fabian42 (talk) 08:39, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
