Italics in Names
Under "Play it!" Java Edition and New Nintendo 3DS Edition are italicized; however, Bedrock Edition and Legacy Console Edition are not. Is there a reason for this?Slscool (talk) 01:53, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- Both Java edition and New Nintendo 3DS Edition are official names. If you play them, it will have the subtitle. But Bedrock Edition and Legacy Console Edition are not official names. The bedrock edition's actual name is Minecraft while legacy console edition uses their platform name (Minecraft: Xbox One Edition). Skylord wars (talk) 06:26, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Move this page from "Minecraft Wiki" to "Main Page"
Hello. I think this page could be renamed from Minecraft Wiki to Main Page, and Wikipedia, MediaWiki, and other wikis their have the main page title "Main Page" instead of "Wikipedia", "MediaWiki", and so. Please can an user move this page from "Minecraft Wiki" to "Main Page"? --Philip57sundfors (talk) 09:35, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- I Oppose. This wiki specifically is about the Minecraft subject, so it makes a lot of sense to call the main page by that name. In all sense of the word, Minecraft Wiki is the main page, but has a specific name. Just like an apple is a fruit, but is named an apple. Huge wikis like wikipedia don't name their main page because it would be confusing to have the wiki word double up like in "Mediawiki Wiki" or "Wikipedia Wiki", but it is also not relevant there because those wikis don't specify a specific subject contained in the wiki, other than the media itself in the case of Mediawiki. – Jack McKalling [

- Oppose per reason given by Jack McKalling. Also, the Minecraft Wiki ≠ Wikipedia nor MediaWiki, meaning we don't need to follow what they did for their main page. Furthermore, the main page has been Minecraft Wiki for as far as I remember, renaming it now just wouldn't make sense in any way possible in my opinion. —DarkShadowTNT (t ♦ c) 12:02, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose MediaWiki's main page is called MediaWiki, try the link you posted yourself. The only reason Wikipedia has its main page named differently is because Wikipedia is an article on Wikipedia as Wikipedia itself is notable. There is also no benefit to moving the page as Main Page is already a redirect. –KnightMiner t/c 15:16, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
- FYI: Russian wiki’s main page is at Заглавная страница, with Minecraft Wiki as a redirect (though it originally redirected to Minecraft Wiki:Описание, the About page — also a variant!). So far I have heard no proposals to change the Russian page’s name. — BabylonAS (talk | ru.Wiki Admin) 13:36, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
- In addition to what everyone else here has said, using a specific name for the main page instead of the generic "Main Page" is slightly better for SEO; Wikia does this for all of its wikis, for example. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:24, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
iOS Version
When will the version showing on the Main Page for Minecraft on the iOS be updated to 1.2.15? It's been outdated since the 12th of April. –Whatausername64 (talk) 03:53, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
- Whatausername64, "Bedrock Edition 1.2.15" wouldn't be typed out on this page - instead, it uses a template called
{{Version}}, which uses Module:Version/Numbers. Therefore, that module is what determines what version appears, and unfortunately only directors (that is, administrators of bureaucrats on any of the language edition Minecraft Wikis) can edit it. Usually the module gets updated as soon as a new snapshot comes out, but this time it hasn't been updated for over a week. If an admin sees this and adds it, it should work - otherwise, I'll bring this up on Module talk:Version/Numbers, and if it's still not added a while after that, contact an admin directly. Thanks for bringing this up.-- Madminecrafter12

- Now 1.2.16 has come out, and Dinoguy1000 has updated Module:Version/Numbers to that. So the main page should be updated for iOS now (if it's not, try purging it).-- Madminecrafter12

- Also the same can be done for the Development version for the Bedrock Edition? Currently it's BE 1.2.20 Build 1 --Whatausername64 (talk) 17:55, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, that needs to be updated too. The development versions also use Module:Version/Numbers, which is currently on 1.2.14 build 2. (pinging Dinoguy1000)-- Madminecrafter12

- Updated. There's a lot of version tracks to be aware of, so sometimes one of them can slip by unnoticed by admins; when that happens, don't be afraid to ping an admin to get things updated. 「ディノ奴千?!」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:22, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
Minecraft China
At the section of "About Minecraft, we should add a paragraph about Minecraft in China. Minecraft has its own China version of Minecraft on Xbox One, PS4, Java, Android, and iOS. Win 10 does not include a China one.--skylord_wars (talk) 02:27, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
