Hex code for old gears is a redstone item now is it not? --Zaneo 07:03, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey, we need some images for the materials! Upload soon! --MetalBL 02:47, 15 September 2010 (CDT)

There you go. -- Toshu (talk) 12:12, 15 September 2010 (CDT)

Can't we just link this to Blocks?

Would make more sense to me. It can't stay the way it is now and making a page about materials would lead to many similaritys with "Blocks" and "Items" Deepdata 20:11, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

String?

I just got one in Peaceful mode, while in a cave,...? It just kinda dropped out of nowhere. Or maybe it came from the iron block I just mined (which would make even less sense). Errr, bug? --Naoroji 18:42, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

String (not a glitch thing)

I think there should be an easier way to get string, like possibly a log-to-plank type deal where you can use cloth blocks from sheep to make string, maybe? I think it would be easier than hunting spiders which is kind of hard. Once I turned my game onto hard mode and didn't find one spider in a large area around my camp, basically the whole island. I think it would make more sense beccause if you can use string to make cloth, then can't you vice-versa spin string from cloth?

Hunting Spiders are hard? Not at all. Just turn the difficulty to easy, craft a sword, wait a day, and Spiders will survive the sunlight. Then kill them. Creepers are annoying though. That would also allow players to solely play on peaceful for no other reason (except gunpowder... but TNT is so expensive to make anyways). But in the end it all really just depends on Notch's decision. Groshi 08:02, 4 November 2010 (CDT)

Page is useless

Due to each item having its own page, and the nice fancy items template, this page is useless. - Mayaswell redirect it to template:items or something. --Fishrock123 11:16, 15 November 2010 (CST)

The four items still on this page don't have their own page yet --DannyF1966 14:17, 15 November 2010 (CST)

We could just make a small page here explaining how to get each of the raw materials (and what they are used for, the actual crafting table could be on the actual page), just as a quick reference guide. It may be a bit redundant, but helpful as an all-in-one guide when new players are trying to find how to get that Flint or something else. I know I would use it! 99seconds 00:48, 17 November 2010 (CST)

I like this idea of using this page as an index page to all the materials, linking to the main articles where necessary. Alternatively it could be moved to "Other Materials" and left as is. --DannyF1966 03:45, 18 November 2010 (CST)

Ok, all the materials now have their own page, I've gone through the links and removed (most of) the references to this page. I'm not sure whether it's best to remove this page completely, or to rewrite it as an index page. --DannyF1966 03:45, 22 December 2010 (CST)

My vote is to have this article re-written to read something like the Renewable Resources page, but dealing with ALL resources that can be used to craft anything. Each row would state the pre-requisites to get the resource, the material itself, then a list of items that can be made from it (a "From This => To That => To The Other" presentation). At present, the only "materials" list on the wiki is the one in the Items template, which is obviously incomplete (and somewhat misleading to newbies IMO) as it doesn't include Blocks.
If they were to be listed here in the order in which they could be obtained (from wood through to diamond, or perhaps obsidian (which can be used to make portals, after all)), then the page would serve as a tech-tree. -  Bomb Bloke (Talk/Contribs) 05:27, 22 December 2010 (CST)

String

I made a separate page for string, since the article suggested it be split into pieces. I left the string information here in case the page gets scrapped and is reverted to the original re-direct. Hubertus 22:55, 21 December 2010 (CST)
