Is this Page Still Needed?

So Map now points to the item, do we need a disambiguation now? Obviously it hasn't been updated (until now) since changing Map to The Overworld and it still probably needs a little work if it's sticking around... --Warlock 21:35, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

fixed the redirect issue. --Kizzycocoa 21:39, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Is this page still needed? (redux)

The {{About}} template at the top of Map links here. This page has no other mainspace links and lists 3 additional uses:

  1. The Overworld, from the gamer jargon sense of "map" meaning a game world packaged into a file. This isn't a Minecraft term, and it doesn't relate specifically to the Overworld, so I would favor deleting it, but perhaps it could be rephrased to make more sense.
  2. Ocean Explorer Map and
  3. Woodland Explorer Map. Both of these are simply redirects to Explorer Map. They should be combined, e.g.
Explorer Map - an item obtained from a cartographer and used to find certain generated structures such as an ocean monument or woodland mansion.
(I rephrased it in anticipation of additional explorer maps that might be added in the future.)

If these changes are made, this page is left with only one or two links, other than the primary topic. In such cases a disambiguation page is usually unnecessary: The other topics should just be listed in the {{About}} template on Map unless that would be too verbose. This disambiguation page would then become obsolete.

There have been a lot of recent edits to this page and I regard its future as controversial, so please discuss. I'm especially interested in whether and how The Overworld link should be changed. – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 16:49, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

I think the word "map" is used to refer to the world itself often enough that the mention is justified. However, I feel it's more often used to refer to World than to just The Overworld, so I'm in favor of that addition. Blue Banana whotookthisname (talk) 19:31, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Keep. When this was proposed for deletion, the list contained effectively two, possibly three uses. On Wikipedia, disambiguation pages are not needed when there are only two things in the list, and the same would be true here. However, the original reason for deleting this page is now obsolete because the list has expanded, and the disambiguation page is now needed to refer to all the different usages of "map", not just links, but word usage in prose.  Keep per Amatulic. BDJP (t|c) 14:30, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Keep, as per my previous comment, and especially so with the since then added links. The consensus seems to be pretty heavily against deletion, so we can probably remove that template within a couple days? Blue Banana whotookthisname (talk) 16:18, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Strong Keep per above comments. TheGreatSpring (talk | contribs) (Tagalog translation) 23:13, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
