Toggle Touchscreen? YES!

I've been waiting to use my touch screen for MC. I wonder if it uses M.A.T.T.I.S.-like technology? It's ahme, AJC! 21:49, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

As far as I can see, I don't think Mojang has any short term plans to introduce MATTIS to the Computer Edition.

Plugin API Obfuscation

I heard that for the Plugin API, the obfuscation would not change. Is this true, and if it is can it be said so in the article? 5.13.16.180 19:03, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

What?

Why are they planning limited maps? Is it like something you toggle or is it just plain out every world is limited? If it's something you toggle I like it, but if it's not then WHY? Zeeman 17:53, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

If it's still happening, it'll be a toggle, no two ways around it. You can calm down. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:42, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Question

this is kind of off topic, but there was something on this page about "a new biome, rumors suggest a city biome" in 1.6 a month or so ago. can anyone confirm or deny this? Lucius101 19:58, 21 February 2013 (UTC)Lucius101

A month or so ago? You added that yesterday and it was promptly removed. Rumors, unconfirmed additions, suggestions, and other junk do not belong here. Kanegasi C 22:38, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Release date

My phone would not allow me to add an edit summary or select one of my presets, and it submitted the change somehow. Anyways, about my recent edit, the tweet said "early March". Do not guess any dates based on the "roughly two weeks". It is "early March" unless a new reference is used. Kanegasi C 21:41, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

The release date of 1.5 is March the 7th, and that is TOMORROW! Meeples10 22:01, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

I take it back, the release is the 13th (unless they change it AGAIN). Meeples10 21:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Dubious Content

Why are Notch's comments from years ago treated as authoritative statements of Minecraft's future? Very old comments and those from people no longer working on minecraft should not be given full credibility. 108.220.161.85 11:21, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

I would agree on this. Especially content which is referenced from Get Satisfaction, which is no longer used. Also, content which claims that Notch is working on something, or that Notch said he would add something, is also fairly dubious, as Notch does not work on Minecraft. GoandgooTalk

Planned features... will they ever happen, mojang?

I was just thinking about all of the planned feature's Mojang has confirmed... it seems that nearly none of them have been implemented.... Red Dragons, dragon lairs, Skylands (which may not be an upcoming feature, but has been stated by notch as " in development"), rainbow crystaline caves, server portals, audio loops, fish, birds... what ever happened to these? did mojang just mark them as planned to satisfy the public? it would be great if we could find out why nothing is happening. I know they are adding new features all the time, but i think it is essential they have an update which will include the feature's marked as planned... would be great to hear some feedback. Sam9801 23:55, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Sign your posts. Also, about the Skylands, they are not a planned feature at all. Gavin79746 22:03, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

I kind of see your point with satisfying the public. But what will they do when the public questions them about not putting the features in? PrinceCooshie101 02:09, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

1.5.1 release date

Squiggly blobs

I think this a joke...KomaSixx 15:47, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

I thought that as well, but it could very well be a weird description of what's coming. Regardless, it's still too early to say either way for sure, so it's fine here for now. Saying it's a joke is more of an absolute than listing it as something upcoming. Being as ambiguous as possible with these mentions strictly using references is ideal. They recently announced 2.0 with new features in "a couple months". Please put a section in on 2.0. See http://mojang.com/2013/04/its-finally-coming-minecraft-2-0/ for more info. Eeddgg 23:37, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
I have seen on the Minecraft WIki website that there is going to be a Minecraft 2.0. I was wondering if anyone had any information on when the version would be coming out. Also, I saw in the video that animals can be "fed" to get bigger and eventually they would explode, but i was wondering if they would get smaller if they didn't get "fed". Thanks! SlapShotKing75 00:28, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
To be honest, my head is spinning over everything about 2.0. Some say it is an April fools joke, while others say it is real. The download link is on the forums, although I haven't played it yet. -- Numbermaniac - T - C 00:40, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
It is 100% a April Fools Joke, They planned this year's joke more than usuall. They coded a whole list of things (most based off of real features) and made a .jar.

They told sethbling about the joke and he got in on it too, and more and more youtubers. If you read over it you KNOW its a joke *made fishing easier* then, *removed fishing*. This year's joke really pumped and pissed off alot of people, but remember, SOME of these features MIGHT be in the game one day (hay bales, horses [but not these stupid ones], coal block.) but others definatly won't (craftable command block, pink derp faced wither, and blocks breaking after walking over them.) Two of the youtubers In their videos said it was an april fool's joke, and just this morning someone tweeted that it definatly was, Retweeted by Dinnerbone. KomaSixx 12:41, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Limited maps? I think not...

I think perhaps the 1.4 map change giving them limited range may have accounted for th "Limited maps" feature in the Keynote Roadmap. Thoughts? Lucius101 14:28, 7 April 2013 (UTC)Lucius101

Well I think that there should be an option, like Superflat Mode, to limit the world to a set amount of distance. Of course, you should have to set the distance for the world, though. PrinceCooshie101 03:51, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Straw Bales & Focused updates

Since this is a page for confirmed upcoming features Straw Bales shouldn't be in this list since it has not been confirmed and is only speculation. Also, Focused updates isn't really a feature but rather a design goal and shouldn't be on this list, it's like adding 'Make Money' or 'Sell 1 bazillion copies' to the list, Mojang plan on doing those too, but they are not on the list. ADCK 04:21, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

It's not speculation anymore. But you do have a point on the focused updates. | JSan 23:31, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Rails

New rail Mojang announced at Minecon 2012 that there would be a new rail to unload mobs and perhaps players when reached. This was supposed to be released in the Redstone Update but was not subsequently included.

Actualy they did, mobs nolonger walk over rails when not agressive so actually they added --Karstvgl 12:50, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

The proposed feature was a type of rail that would remove entities from minecarts that passed over it. Mobs not wanting to walk on rails is completely different. -- Orthotope 18:29, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Villagers getting sounds? More likely to be horses.

In Mob Additions, someone has added that villages will be getting sounds. That's all very well... if the reference actually said that Jeb was adding villager sounds. Jeb's referred tweet actually says, "In the next snapshot, your favourite mutes will no longer be mutes." While it could possibly mean villagers, it's much more reasonable to assume that he means horses seeing as they have no sounds yet and 1.6 is rapidly approaching, so I've made the executive decision to remove the "Villagers will get sounds" point from the Upcoming Features page. Vortex 42 21:27, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Okay, I'll admit I was half wrong about the new sounds. They added horse sounds AND villager sounds. -Vortex 42 20:10, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Native Backup support and save management

Due to a bunch of new items in the translation project, it seems clear that backup/restore support, along with game save disabling is an immanent feature-set. Implementation of Seasons - More Evidence

More evidence that seasons in Minecraft has arisen from a line of tweets by Dinnerbone to a user by the name of @DechlanBurrell involving seasons.

@DechlanBurrell tweeted Dinnerbone on Twitter stating, "hey dinnerbone bring back seasons if not it'll understandable". The tweets continued with mentions of "we never had to bring seasons back :)" as well as "bring back the idea and some development maybe".

Dinnerbone finished this Twitter conversation with a tweet stating,

"The idea never went (away). It just isn't done yet :)"

This is more evidence to the fact that seasons are still in development and will likely come to Minecraft in the future. --Komain72 19:57, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Confusion.....

Where it says "A new "Select Resource Pack" menu", what exactly does this mean? Are they implying that you can still use Texturepacks, but can also select a Resource Pack?

Just confusing me.

PrinceCooshie101 23:04, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Since the addition of resource packs, texture packs have become outdated. What this new Select Resource Pack menu will allow for is the quick and easy merging of multiple resource packs. For more information, check out the Minecraft Forums thread on it here.
Hope this helps!

Is Dinnerbone adding new features?

I was reading Mojang's home page when I found these posts hinting new features?

"Brewing a Pufferfish into a Water Breathing potion makes sense, right?" https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/375180262407417856

"Don't worry, eating the pufferfish will be strongly discouraged through the use of deadly neurotoxin." https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/375182927245901824

"Fishing rewards in 1.7 are split into 3 piles: treasure, junk, fish. There are enchantments to change your luck between the piles." https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/375226996206628864

"The zombies become married to the pufferfish? ;)" (Not shure about this one) https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/375197205671727105

These are posted by Dinnerbone and might be hinting a new feature

All technical blocks aren't removed after all?

This page says:

Technical Blocks
All technical block items removed, including Locked chest

Technical blocks says:

While they are still available in the current version of 1.6, the ability to obtain the item form of most technical blocks
(block IDs 34, 36, 59, 74, 75, 94, 95, 104, 105 124 and 150) was removed in snapshot 13w37a of the pre-release version 1.7.
Fluid blocks, Portal blocks, Farmland and Burning Furnaces remain available.

Which one is correct? --Robotkoer (talk) 21:11, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

I was the one who added that line to technical blocks, my "source" was User:Orthotope when they changed part of Version History to say:
"Removed most technical block items (block IDs 34, 36, 59, 74, 75, 94, 95, 104, 105, 124, 150); they can no longer be obtained with /give, but can be created with /setblock."
Before that it looked much the way this page does now. I don't know where they got their information, but I trusted them :p Cultist O (talk) 22:51, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
