lanterns
At minecon notch said that due to negative feedback he is no longer happy with the idea of lanterns, though there may be some new light emitting blocks in the future, there was a video on IGN, but it's moved, if I find it again I will link to it, but I think it would be safe to at least put a note in the lantern section that it's unlikely. Cultist O 02:43, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
For that matter, shouldn't Lanterns be removed entirely?
Eventual Features, etc.
The things in the Eventual Features section have been mentioned or considered, but many of them aren't likely to be added, or have no concrete proof that they will be added for certain. I propose that we either change the name of the section, or separate it into two sections depending on likelihood of a particular thing being added. --Pizza2004 02:32, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- I would suggest anything that doesn't have a citation and anything that they have said they are considering, but didn't say for certain should be moved into a 'Possible Features, etc.' section, so that it is easier to see what we know is coming at some later point and what we may possibly get. --Pizza2004 02:37, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'll try and separate these into two sections : planned features and eventual features. Give me a feedback. ^.^ --SwissTHX11384EB 14:18, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Zipline
Notch said he would like to add parts of the Zipline mod into Minecraft. Even though he said parts, he must be adding rope. He MUST be. You can't have any zipline-related stuff without rope. Anyone agree? --ChasmicActivity 21:28, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Sims_doc: String isn't the same we need actual rope that can be used for lines and bridges and expand the game. Change is good in most cases.
Easier Server Setup

K: @jeb_ Kommer ni på Mojang att fixa till servrar så att de blir lättare att starta en egen, jag och många andra tycker att det är för svårt.

- It is indeed NOT easy to setup a server. You not only have to start the server program, but also port forward, as well as make sure your server can support others. And don't get me started on fixing issues that arise. --Saphireking65 18:46, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
i agree with ^. i can't seem to get it to port forward, easy setup would be great
Well, the problem with making easy port forwarding setup is that port forwarding involves changing system settings that are protected, in most cases, from access from third-party programs. NighttimeDriver50000 21:29, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Mod API Removed?
It appears as though someone removed the mod API listing from the page. The only rationale I can see behind having that done is that it isn't something that is being implemented into gameplay, but it is an upcoming feature to Minecraft regardless. If there are no objections to this statement within a week, I will re-add it to the page. --Sandman 19:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

on oct 31st 2010, the "halloween update" was supposed to have lanterns that would be infinite light sources when torches burn out. perhaps this is similar. maybe torches won't burn out, but maybe lanterns are going to be implemented as redstone-powered lights instead?

LWJGL stands for LightWeight Java Game Library, which is used since July 2009 by Minecraft. It's a required dependancy that manages audio using OpenAL and graphics using OpenGL. By default, Minecraft downloads an outdated version of LWJGL which may be updated (fixes stuck keys bug, may improve performance). Calinou - talk × contribs » 00:15, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Edits, edits everywhere
I'm sorry for being a bit pissy here, but... I subscribed to an RSS feed of this page's history, so I'd always be aware of what kinda stuff's going to be included in the game next. But... Good. Lord. There are so many pointless edits that completely clutter my time. Stuff like minor edits just to reword sentences (that were perfectly fine in the first place), and all for naught, seeing as a few weeks after that "fixing" edit, the article'll be cleaned to contain info for the next release. And then there are those edits that add completely obvious speculation. Then there are those that don't add references, those that add references but do it wrong, then the reference is fixed, then there are those that don't have a reference, later add a {{cn}}, and are later removed, then there are the edit wars... Man, only 10% of the edits are actually informational.
I propose a couple of things. Either add a huge warning on the top of the page saying that one should only add stuff if s/he knows exactly that it's going to be added, and knows exactly what s/he's doing, as well as a few instructions on how the guidelines work.
Alternately, you could limit the page to only be edited by a select few. All addition/deletion suggestions should be posted on the talk page.
...Or if no one's interested in making this a clutter-free wiki with correct, efficient and fast-flowing GOOD information... can someone tell me another way to keep track of what new content is really going to be added to the game? Espyo 00:27, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- By this post you are disagreeing with the very system and purpose of wikis. Personally, I make lots of adjustments on this page because they are needed. Do not think that so much of all the modifications people make on it are useless. Just check the page from time to time. Anyway, is it really a vital problem ? At your place I'd be very happy of this wiki that is edited a lot ; it proves people care about it a lot and want it to be as precise as possible ^.^ SwissTHX11384EB 15:33, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Cocoa Beans drop from pods or leaves?
The page says both, and I'm unsure which to belive. From Moi, Ajc_1254 23:28, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Pods in 12w19a are confirmed. Rare cocoa bean drops from jungle tree leaves was the behavior in 12w18a. Does anyone know whether the drops-from-leaves behavior has been removed in 12w19a? McKathlin 04:05, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Yes, they are. I thought I had mentioned in my edit to add that back, that from a podless tree, I got a cocoa bean from the leaves after setting up a TNT on the leaves. It was one of the large trees, and I haven't seen pods on any of those, just the small ones. So, confirmation for drops from both sources. Funky3000 19:23, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
i think the drops-from-leaves behavior has been removed in 12w19a, cause i never get cocoa beans from large jungle tree leaves since then. Currency speculation
I think the speculation about the new villager currency should be removed. The article says that the currency may be rubies, but the only thing the currency and the gemstone seem to have in common is that they're red. If there must be speculation in the article about the currency name, then call them coins.
Now I'm going to speculate (don't add this to the article). Since the image showing the currency also shows that Jeb's inventory has a lot of redstone dust, maybe the coins are made from the dust. I don't think the currency being red like redstone is a coincidence. I think this is more likely than the currency being rubies.76.181.65.128 19:15, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that it's a coin and not rubies. I doubt Jeb having all that redstone is a coincidence, especially considering it's the exact color as the currency and a common complaint has been excess build up of redstone for people who don't use it. --Moxxy 19:20, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Foofoofoo. There's either a new redstone texture or a new ore, it's on the right hand side of the new trading picture. It looks like a Ruby Ore kinda block, and it is the same shade(or about, since the inv. darkens the rest of the world) as the new 'coins', and they certainly look like rubies. Maybe the ore drops a ruby, and you craft the currency with redstone and the 'ruby'.From Moi, Ajc_1254 20:36, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- It's probably just a new texture for redstone ore. - Asterick6 (talk) 06:52, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Just more evidence against this ruby argument. Rubys are one of the most valuable gemstones, in fact, more valuable than diamond, so, 4 rubys for a leather tunic is completely illogical. maybe it will be a pigmented quartz.
- Well, that's true for Minecraft. In fact is ruby more valuable than diamond since rubies cannot be found in Minecraft yet. IRL that's completly nonsense. --Kumasasa 06:33, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
No! a perfect ruby is worth MUCH more.-Boulder119
Since it shows that 4 'coins' equals 1 piece of leather armor and 20 raw chicken equals 1 'coin' (or maybe it's 1 raw chicken for one 'coin'), the Trading system will be another complicated feature, like the potions. But, I think it's pretty worth it :) JonL21 01:16, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- "Rubys are one of the most valuable gemstones, in fact, more valuable than diamond, so, 4 rubys for a leather tunic is completely illogical. Maybe it will be a pigmented quartz."-Boulder119
- Here's the thing about Minecraft. IT'S COMPLETELY UNLOGICAL. Seriously, you need DIAMONDS to break Obsidian? And Obsidian is blast proof? Obsidian can be broken with a small rock, and it shatters into a million pieces when exposed to an explosion. Also, there's no undead, no Hell(Nether), or Endermen, Creepers, Strongholds, Testies, or a lot of the stuff in Minecraft. So, why not have rubies as currency? Would you rather Gold, and not have a new ore? Also, rubies are a common basis for currency, most all games use the ruby or some form of it(I'm looking at you, Zelda games!), along with it LOOKS like a ruby, and just because rubies are valuable doesn't mean they can't be used for low-classified items like chicken.Enough proof? From Moi, Ajc_1254 20:12, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
For the path block, its probably smelted gravel. One of themojang employees (dinnerbone, i think) was tweeting about it. I know that minecraft is illogical, but I think that they wont make four ruby sell for a leather tunic. (sorry, i dont have curse acount, so ill put my mc username) -Boulder119
- OK, let's put it in Zelda terms. Would you pay 4 rupies for 20 arrows? When you could pay 1 more and get 30? It doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense. Remove Things saying notch is working on

Notch is still working on minecraft, he's just not the head developer. 96.18.184.210 20:30, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

They certainly should no longer be under the title of "planned" but moved to a new section along the lines of unlikely/speculation etc. They were planned when Notch had creative control over minecraft, but that is no longer the case, what happened with the Sky Dimension is a good example of this. There is no longer any evidence that any of the Notch additions are still planned. 220.244.39.225 01:52, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
For many things in that list we don't know whether they are still "planned" by mojang. A modding mod
i think the easiest thing to do is that minecraft will make an officical mod for adding or changing or removing non-gui and non-redstone blocks, recepies to blocks and items, potions, edit the enchanting, edit block drop, texture, adding achivements and etc. building this mod won't be so hard because you can only make buttons that add or change subs after clicking and writing. so please do this!!! this can help you!!!! and who know, maybe one of the mods of the modders wil be added to the officical game

The talk page is NOT a place for Minecraft suggestions!
This talk page is NOT a forum, it is where you discuss changes to the upcoming features page on the wiki, NOT where you talk about Minecraft in general! learn the difference! Also, help me categorize the different new features into sections. I started doing so, but so far it is rather disorganized..
- Would you(%) know the link to where we should make our suggestions? (vodka and pickled fish mmm...) (%)who ever you are, you didn't sign it ;) Buzzaro 09:16, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Halloween 2012
New updates are coming out at Halloween. Halloween Update II. This will be great! Deblob167 04:17, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Deblob167
- "Are" implies certainty. Even Jeb doesn't know. Either way, the Halloween update was one of my favorite times in Minecraft, I don't think anything could top it anyways. --Moxxy 04:22, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Well, that wraith boss would seem apropos... perhaps a new "undead world"? (I'm a little surprised they haven't adopted one of the mod worlds yet, such as the Aether or Waste, but whatever.) --Mental Mouse 19:14, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

- It's not currently craftable. | JSan 11:47, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
As of Snapshot 12w36a, you can craft them with 3 obsidian, 6 glass, and one Nether Star (dropped from Wither). 173.59.33.222 23:22, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- 5 glass. Beacon

Skeleton Skulls and Wither
according to dinnerbone at the pax panel, withers will be spawn-able by arranging mob heads in some fashion. Should this be under 1.4? Cultist O 13:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Modding API
The modding API won't be for 1.4, now. I've removed it from the list of upcoming 1.4 features, and instead added it to "Eventual" features. Source is:
